RetweetLook Who's Coming to Turtle Bay

Fri, Mar 16, 2007 at 9:05:46 am PDT

Speaking of vicious, genocidal madmen, the United States government is going to allow Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to enter the US again, to address the United Nations before the Security Council votes on the latest resolution against Iran: US will approve Iranian president’s request for visa to speak at UN.

The US will approve Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s request for a visa so he can visit the UN as the Security Council moves to impose additional sanctions against his country for its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment.

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Friday that the United States has approved a visa for Ahmedinejad previously and will do so again, consistent with its obligations as host country for the United Nations.

It's OK.

10 Ed Mahmoud abu al Qahool Martyr Brigades  Fri, Mar 16, 2007 7:09:36am

There was a story that the NYPD had observed Iranian 'diplomats' from the UN mission photographing and observing various subways and bridges in the NYC area.

Just how blatant does Iran have to get in planning or running terror ops out of the UN before they get booted?

And haven't they heard of video conferencing?

The UN building would be better served if it were converted to a shelter for battered women and the homeless, and/or a soup kitchen.

The UN should stay in NYC because there aren't many places left in the world where exposees of this magnitude can find the light of day. 46 NiceLass  Fri, Mar 16, 2007 7:23:54am

Kind of funny that for all his posturing that the UN can't stop him, he wants to do this. Why? What good does he think it will do? And why even bother if the UN doesn't matter to him, anyway?

I'm thinking takiyya (however you spell it), and if so, he's picked his mark pretty well. The libs/socialists almost always fall for it. But I hope it's too late for that to work now.

47 _remembertonyc  Fri, Mar 16, 2007 7:23:55am

I know I'm in a minority on this, but I have no problem with dinnerjackAss coming to thumb his nose at the UN.

But if there are not massive protests against iran outside the UN while he is there, I will be disappointed.

The protests need to be massive enough that the MSM cannot ignore them. And it would be nice if some networks other than FOX news would cover them.

48 Deb  Fri, Mar 16, 2007 7:23:56am

Lord Almighty- help us!

OK, back home in N-B, whenever anyone said that, you'd hear, "The Lord helps them as helps themselves." I'd like to put that on hold- clearly we're bent on self-destruction, so let's hope the Lord takes pity on our people and cures us of our masochistic trend even though we don't deserve it.

And maybe He can bring this Iranian madman to justice while He's at it. I suppose I shouldn't be so arrogant as to think I know who deserves to live and who to die, but I'm on a chutzpah kick and will say that it seems incredible to me that a man who sent children- with plastic keys around their necks to open the gates of Paradise- into minefields to clear the way for his soldiers is allowed to live. The first time I heard of that I was crying like a child. And he dares to speak of his own children as a loving parent. And he dares to set foot in our country, a country where we cherish children.

I think I'll move to the Antarctic.

49 Amy  Fri, Mar 16, 2007 7:23:59am
...consistent with its obligations as host country for the United Nations.

I have a great idea! The US can get out from under those onerous and embarrassing obligations by giving the UN an eviction notice and letting someone else take a turn with being the host. Let the UN move to a country that has no problem with hosting the likes of a genocidal religious chauvinist pig like Ahmadinejad.

How about Zimbabwe? Or Saudi Arabia (good excuse for the Israelis to quit the UN, since Jews aren't allowed on Saudi soil)? Or maybe Kazakhstan? There are lots of countries all over the world whose economies would benefit from high-spending diplomats, their families and other hangers-on.

When a fight breaks out in hockey, one has the option of dropping to the ice and protecting oneself. When this happens, the referee who had been standing there watching, steps in and stops the fight. The party who dove to the ice is said to have "gone turtle". It is a pejorative taunt directed at the "turtle's" pusillanimous actions.

I think Turtle Bay is a very appropriate venue for the UN.

Shouldn't the undersized dinner jacket and most of his entourage be on the 'no fly' list anyway? Does this constitute an exception to the rigorous FBI racial/ethnic profiling policy? How many Air Marshals would be required onboard for this high risk trip? Is this flight going to be allowed to fly near any tall buildings? Does this mean that Bush didn't really mean it when it included Iran as a member of the Axis of Evil? Oh wait, I understand, Bush has adopted the dems belief that a good conversation solves all problems - even if that conversation is a once-sided diatribe from the UN podium accusing him of being the devil.

/Maybe the former Iranian hostages could get together and greet his plane on arrival. I'm sure he would receive a warm and gracious welcome.

To suspend the visa waiver program until certain entry-exit control requirements are met, and for other purposes.

The visa waiver program lets people with citizenship in "safe, friendly" countries like the U.K. in without a visa. Hello, native British convert jihadis...

I'm actually looking forward to what the pint sized nut job has to say. Things aren't so hot in the ol' islamic republic right now. The Russians pulled out of finishing the nuke plant, leaving that pesky little issue of emergency cooling unresolved, no nuke fuel except for what they "roll" themselves, cash just about gone, terror attacks on their own soil, sanctions about to be enacted, a couple of carriers off the coast, not to mention 150,000 well armed forces to the west. He's got two choices, in my opinion; act sane and maybe get a reprieve on the sanctions, or go loco. I'm leaning toward loco, based on his history.

NYC HOSPITALS AT THE BREAKING POINT WATCH: HUNDREDS OF FRACTURES, SOFT TISSUE INJURIES, POSSIBLE HYPOTHERMIA AND FROSTBITE AS PASTY PEOPLE POUNDING ETOH ATTEMPT TO MARCH ON ICE CRUSTED STREETS TOMORROW!

Its too late, its upon you as seen on Northeast mosaic radar loop.

Secondary low now starting to explode South of North Carolina!

Surface freezing line, per 12Z high resolution WRF model, makes it well into Queens, but stops at Roosevelt Island!

12Z GFS, note QPF max near 3 inches (76 mm) in NYC area!

Note 10 to 15 m/s surface winds predicted by GFS after a good sticky coating of snow, sleet and freezing rain has battered NYC! 25 to 30 knot winds? Power outage city. Thank goodness it'll be cold enough outdoors to keep the beer at proper temperature!

BTW, see above, Joe Bastardi already has April 8th weekend penciled in, as NYC snow/ice events seem to favor Catholic feast days!

Man smuggles grenade in pot of honey

ALMATY (Reuters) - Border guards in Kazakhstan have arrested a man for trying to smuggle a home-made grenade in a pot of honey, local media reported on Friday.

The man, a Russian citizen, was traveling by train from the Russian town of Omsk.

"The pot seemed too heavy so it had to be checked," a senior Kazakh border official told the Kazakhstan Today news agency.

The man told police he did not know it was a grenade and that his wife had given it to him as a present for her relatives in Kazakhstan.

I don't think anyone needs to worry about the Iranian "president" doing any bombing of his own. He uses other people for those purposes. I am really amused and at the same time annoyed not that we're allowing him in, but that the American people at large seem to be ignorant of his blatant double speak. I guess now we know how Hitler got away with so much...no one wanted to see what he was doing or be the one to step up and put their foot down.

The Bank of America visa comment has given me an idea.

We can get a BOA visa credit card in Osama-mamas Bin Missing's name. With his credit rating and spending limit we could buy things for the Pentagon. We then sit back and let the bank track him down for payments. At the very least we'll get a phone number when he disputes the charges.

I have a great welcoming party idea for Mahmoud "Diet Hitler" Ahmedinejad.

It may or may not involve a kidnapping and a complimentary beating administered by a school full of Jewish third-graders. It may or may not involve dropping a certain swarthy Persian in the South Bronx wearing nothing but a sequined Confederate Flag thong, a Zorro mask, and a feather boa, with "I (heart) Chocolate Man-Meat" scrawled across his forehead.

I will neither confirm nor deny these things. I will only say that I have a great idea.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A man jumped the fence at the White House on Friday and was quickly taken into custody, the Secret Service said.

The incident resulted in the closure of an appointments gate and pedestrian traffic along Pennsylvania Avenue was blocked off, said Eric Zahren, spokesman for the Secret Service.

Zahren said the incident occurred at 11:10 a.m. and the man was "immediately taken into custody by Secret Service uniformed division officers."

A package was found in the vicinity of where the man went over the fence and was being investigated, Zahren said.

Never show fear to scum.

Come on in, Ahmadinejad. Come see the mightiest nation the world has ever known. Come to New York. Pretend how weak we are. You would never let Bush come to Tehran, that would be the end of your regime. The next stage of sanctions are set in stone, your visit is as a clown-prince lunatic to prove how justified our actions are.

The only way you can destroy us is if we are foolish and let you become strong. But our leaders are not foolish. The first sanctions already have your regime rationing gas. Riots and hyperinflation may very follow the next ratcheting up of the pressure, if not, we will keep escalating until you break.

All of it is designed to vause your collapse or get you to do what is your first instinct: attack America. Either way, you lose.

I will be dancing on your grave soon enough. You are a single blunder away from your own destruction; whether by war, if necessary or peaceful means, if we can, you are destined to join your beloved Hitler on the ash heap of history.

Sympathy for Pelosi

A visit to "Camp Pelosi" in front of Nancy Pelosi's house

San Francisco, March 14, 2007

What would it take for someone like me to have sympathy for someone like Nancy Pelosi? She is, after all, the most powerful woman in America at the moment. And she's been positively Machiavellian in her long political career. Not the type of person to arouse much sympathy from the average American.

But then again, the average American has never encountered the likes of Code Pink and its new offshoot, PelosiWatch.

You might think that Nancy Pelosi, being a liberal Democrat, would be a favorite of groups like Code Pink. Not so. The political goalposts have been moved so far to the left in recent years that Pelosi -- as liberal and as powerful as she is -- fails to meet the demands and expectations of Code Pink and similar activist groups. They want George Bush and Dick Cheney impeached. They want not just an end to the Iraq War, but an immmediate end, a complete withdrawal of all troops right now. And she's failed her Code Pink constituents in a wide variety of other ways, as outlined on the PelosiWatch site.

So, if you were a frustrated activist, what would you do?

Become a stalker, of course.

Which is exactly what the PelosiWatch folks have done. Their goal is to personally harrass and stalk Pelosi to such an extent that I'm surprised she hasn't taken out a restraining order against them.
...

etc.

With lots of photos and a surrealistic conclusion!

Mullahs increased suppression in the run up to Iranian New Year Celebration

NCRI - In run up to Iranian New Year Celebrations, the suppressive State Security Forces (SSF), using various excuses, has increased suppression of people’s uprisings. Yesterday, the state-run printed media reported that women have been arrested under the pretext of “mal-veiling.”

On Thursday, Patrol Police Department Chief, Brig. Gen. Hamid-Reza Hashimi said, “Not observing the ethics codes set in the Islamic [Republic] which include mal-veiling in and out of motor vehicles and showing parts of body with tattoos on them are prohibited. All are signs of misdemeanor crimes and Patrol Police have orders to intervene,” the state-run daily Etemad-Meli reported.

Such threats against people come after thousands were arrested in the eve of the Festival of Fire celebrations in various cities in the country.

In the past few days, dozens of teachers who have held a large demonstration before the regime’s Majlis last week, were also arrested.

The regime frightened of escalating social unrest in days ahead of Iranian New Year Celebrations has increased its suppressive measures against the Iranian people.

Islamic Civil Liberties Org. Revives MN Chapter

(AP) St. Paul The Council on American-Islamic Relations, a national Islamic civil rights organization, has revived its Minnesota chapter after a series of high profile incidents involving Muslims in the state.

Leaders of the group said Thursday they will open a St. Paul office this weekend, partly in response to reports involving Muslim cab drivers and airline passengers and because of less publicized complaints of racial profiling.

"The community here needs somebody to stand up for them when their rights are being stomped on like that," said local spokeswoman Valerie Shirley, a Muslim convert and University of Minnesota graduate student. "So a group of us got together and decided to revive it."

Ibrahim Hooper, a CAIR spokesman in Washington, D.C., said that since 9/11 his group has grown from a half-dozen chapters to 32 chapters in the United States and Canada.

He said that local chapters generally establish their own agendas and raise their own money. "Everybody is pretty independent, but they are all trying to operate on the same page," Hooper said.

The revival of the chapter dismayed Omar Jamal, executive director of the Somali Justice Advocacy Center in St. Paul.

"CAIR pushes issues from the Mideast under the guise that it's an umbrella organization for all Muslims," he said. "But it does nothing for Somali Muslims."

The pictures look to be of a homeless encampment decorated with badly drawn pop art posters. I'm sure it is merely a coincidence that the group chose the sidewalk in front of Nancy's house to set up. Isn't SF one of those cities where the homeless have the right to reside, temporarily or otherwise, at any public location they want? Nancy couldn't possible be complaining. I'll bet she brings them coffee every morning.
Nancy has reached the pinnacle of her power and found it to be less powerful than she imagined because ...compromise is a part of politics? Without a doubt she shares Pinks' views - but cannot get to their desired result without dictator status. When she picked up that gavel on her first day, with that triumphant little smirk, she certainly must have believed she just needed to whack a few heads with it and all would be just as the fairytale promised. His obligatory last call to the world to convert to Islam?

You could very well be right. And if I recall correctly, this would be the third and final call. First was his letter, then his previous rant at the UN a few months ago, and now this. And we only get three calls...

Hmmm. Just sayin' is all...

So, what's to say he doesn't have something on his plane when he lands here? Something...say ...nuclear? There are plenty of lefties that would give him a ride home.

Maybe foggy bottom meant a new charge card. Yeah, that's it!

And foreigners linked to extremist groups are trying to get jobs driving our kids' school buses.

My God, not only do we let these people into the country, we give them instant access to national security secrets and now, to our kids.

To say our government is alseep at the wheel is an understatement.

"It's amazing the government can grant a visa for this raving genocidal lunatic to enter the country, but can't do a background check for my wife's green card. It's unbelievable. Utterly unbelievable."

That's what PC and multiculturalism have done. Multiculturalism is nothing short of national suicide, and PC is the nanny that oversees it.

191 kepler2007  Fri, Mar 16, 2007 11:12:06am

It takes a strong leader in time like this. One who will do what needs to be done...

We don't have that now!

My dislike for this president is not for his supposed strength but infact for his weakness. When will this president do something for AMERICANS! You know guard the borders and kill those that kill Americans and not give them visas. You know stuff like that.

I know that this is hard ask from our glourious political elite. You know the Bushes, Clintons, etc those that go to all the plush parties and talk the pc line because everybody is getting paid right.

Well when this lunatic kills several million Americans I hope people remember who gave him a visa and let him dance on the graves of dead Americans.

Who needs an air force or ICBMs when the Great Satan will allow you to fly commercial airliners with nuclear bombs in the cargo hold right into New York City?

193 cracker-crusader  Fri, Mar 16, 2007 11:32:54am

Now Charles, before you go and ban me, I mean, really, please explain to me why this wanker, without his goons and on your home turf, isn't the ultimate target of opportunity!

I mean if Mr Hitler were to arrive in the US in 1939, and someone "freelanced" his @ss, think of what that would have accomplished. I'm just wondering why I'd be bad for suggesting same for Mr Ahmadinejad (I'm of course not, mind you) At the very least, why can't he be arrested on arrival, and charged with crimes from the 79 Embassy hijackings? This would send a very clear message to the world's wanker brigade. Please feel free to come to the UN, but we only grant D.I. to people without blood on their hands.

See, the Lefties can't really complain, because, like, when it comes to AGW, we've gotta like, act, just in case we are affecting climate, right? So same goes for Mr Ahamdinejad. He just MAY start WWIII with nukes, so why take a chance?

I am SO tired of fantasizing about booting out the U.N.

Seriously, do you think there's a chance that during the 8 years of Giuliani's presidency it might actually happen? Or that we'll leave the U.N., rendering it a B-team that no one wants to try out for?

Oh, I thought he was coming over here so he could see the "300".

Yeah - personal screening at Imax, I'll bet.

But, of course, the Security Council has no standing according to Imadinnerjacket. So why is he doing this?

197 Highrise  Fri, Mar 16, 2007 11:59:53am

With the way technology is nowadays to make meetings happen, there is absolutely no reason to allow this thug in..nor chavez.

I don't care what anyone says..this is a bunch of bullcrap.

Can we pay his driver to get lost in Harlem?

Is the visa for the Persian kind of Airforce One, or for a seat on a Western commercial aircraft from Switzerland?

200 George guy  Fri, Mar 16, 2007 1:07:57pm

We have a huge piece of international territory down south that would be just perfect for the UN headquarters. I hope the penguins aren't too offended by this suggestion.

#140 hyphen,

I admit it's fun to generalize since it tends to get a rise (or a laugh) out of people. I've read Tammy's blog and somehow doubt that she's very liberal, keeping in mind that many issues dear to liberals are not actually 'liberal' at all. On the other hand I don't believe I mentioned anything about anyone's sexuality. What I think on that subject is pretty basic, so I won't go there.

On the other hand liberalism has taken in all manner of crackpot ideas and called them their very own. This is the sort of thing I make fun of and I really do think that anyone is defined by the company they keep. If you want to increase your power base by including pacifists, isolationists, communists, socialists, anarchists, and a whole marching band of fringe cranks, crackpots and conspiracy theorists, then that's what you will be defined as.

This brings me back to the rambling joke based on general equivalence, namely liberal+stupid=moronic convergence or mathematically speaking, L+S=MC.

This also brings up a pet theory of mine, the 'Quantum Moronics Principle', where the number of morons involved thus creating a screwed up result varies equal to the power of the number of morons involved.

This sounds a bit weird so lets run some numbers;

One moron involved means theres 1 chance of a screwed up result.

Two morons involved means four chances of a screwed up result.

three morons involved means a whopping 27 chances of a FUBAR.

And just four morons involved in an endeavor has an astounding 256 chances of a fouled up result. Yes, 4 times 4 times 4 times 4 equals a monumental disaster in true stooges fashion complete with an extra vacant cranium.

Gotta love it!

I didn't even consider the possibilities when an ideology like Liberalism is involved. Let's say it's something simple like multiplying the result by two. If we do some figuring based on that it becomes easy to see why the rest of us end up scratching our heads and muttering WTF when a group of liberals get together to do something.

In that case I would have to all it the "Quantum Moronic Liberals Theory" or some such related nonsense where the basic premise is that all the monkeys there ever were all typing away, will only produce useless gibberish and noxious flatulence.

why is that walking abortion still allowed to cumber the earth? When he decides the 12th Imam has told him to go to war with the US, he should be the first to fall.
