Catmeat Sheikh on Iran’s Side

At Australian blog Auspundits, some pointed comments about the “catmeat sheik,” Tal al Din al Hilali, and his support from both the Muslim community and “mainstream” Australian Muslim organizations—even as he openly sides with Iran against Western civilization: Catmeat Imam in trenches on Iranian side.

We non-Muslims cannot decide who is Mufti of Australia nor should we. But we must certainly hold that community to account based on their choice, and the Mufti’s words and deeds. Further, we must hold that community to account for failure to correct what appears to be an obvious error. “Mind your own business” just does not cut it, though that was the bulk of initial reaction after the “catmeat” episode. Only when politicians and media refused to back down was there any sign of contrition, though the Mufti got away with it, as he did with his disgraceful behaviour before and since.

The Australian Muslim community selects the Imams that allow this to continue, and thus shoulders the blame. I am not the first to say this.

We can certainly demand to know why there will be no vote till June, which imams of the council continue to vote to keep the Mufti in place, why they would do this, what their communities think of this vote, why the communities allow it to happen, who the other community leaders are and why the relevant imams have not been replaced. In the absence of such transparency, we must ask why the Imams council or the relevant community groups should refuse to share such information with us.

 Frank says:

Some Scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.
