More notes from the login front line:

1) The email and web site URL that show up in your comment posting form are the ones you’ve entered into your user profile, which you can manage via this page. The link to this page is in the “Log In” status box near the top of the left sidebar.

2) When posting a comment, if you don’t check the box that says ‘Show Email,’ your email remains private and won’t be included with your comment. This box is unchecked by default and the status is not saved; if you want to include your email address (it becomes a link in your username) you’ll need to check that box each time. This is a security measure, to make sure no one’s email address is ever posted by accident.

3) If you have forgotten your password, you can get a special code sent to your email address to reset it and let you choose a new one. This is also in the “Log In” status box, under the plaintive title, “Forgotten Your Password?”

4) I went back and revamped my session testing script, and I think I may have finally fixed the quirk/bug that kept logging people out after about 30 minutes, even though the timeout is supposed to be 6 hours. (I thought I’d killed that bug before, though, so we’ll see.)
