Palestinian terrorists opened fire at a UN elementary school in Rafah this morning, because it was “sports day” and boys and girls were participating in the event simultaneously: One dead as gunmen open fire at sports day at UN school in Gaza.

Palestinian militants opened fire at a sports day at a United Nations-operated elementary school in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday, killing a bodyguard of a local Fatah leader and wounding seven other people, medical officials said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. But Muslim extremists had earlier visited the al-Amareya primary school in Rafah, warning authorities not to hold the event, UN and security officials said.

Local residents said the gunmen, whom they described as Muslim extremists, arrived at the school and warned through loudspeakers against letting boys and girls participate in the sports day.

The gunmen said the event “taught children immoral values.”

Violence and murder, on the other hand, are perfectly acceptable.

UPDATE at 5/6/07 9:33:35 am:

Associated Press Palestinian propagandist Ibrahim Barzak covers up the reason for the shooting:

It was not clear why the extremists objected to the event at the school in the town of Rafah, or whether they were behind the shooting, the officials said. The gunmen were masked, making identification difficult, security officials said.

They warned the school through loudspeakers that allowing boys and girls to mix was “immoral,” but the Associated (with terrorists) Press still does their best to hide it.
