 RetweetPalestinian Car Swarm Watch

Fri, May 18, 2007 at 5:59:19 pm PDT

It happens after every Israeli airstrike on a car full of “militants;” first, the bizarre car swarming behavior (fun for the whole family! the boys, anyway!), then the equally bizarre, out-of-sync wire service photo captions about “inspecting” and “gathering.”

Palestinians inspect a destroyed van following an Israeli air strike in Gaza May 18, 2007. Israel’s air force bombed a van carrying Palestinian militants through Gaza City on Friday, killing at least two people, witnesses said. REUTERS/Mohammed Salem (GAZA)

Anyway, does anyone know and care to explain what this car swarming behaviour is all about?

I really can't figure out what they're trying to achieve.

My guess is that it's perceived as an act of defiance - "You tried to blow up Ahmed and yet he's still here! Fuck you Israel!".

Of course, to civilized people, it's a blood cult mob ritual that would make the ancient Mayans hang their heads in shame. Or we'd think that, if it was reported accurately... I had no idea they scavenge for body parts until somebody explained it in a thread here.

Ignore the ridiculous conclusions. The interesting part is what he says about curretn palestinian strategic thinking.

Israel should under no circumstances re-occupy.

Long distance, arms length weaponry only, screw the collateral damage - and, if you ask me, pulverize the fence twixt gaza and egypt. Let the fighting chase them into egypt.

Make it egypt's problem.

OK Everyone -

What we are talking about, like it or NOT is the termination of HUMAN LIFE. It's always UGLY.
I think we can agree that the Israelis have been SELECTIVE in this regard.
Otherwise they would have taken Gaza back some months back.
The miserable part is this. Just for argument sake - imagine a neighbor who for no reason threatens your family. What do you do?
At first you try reason and accommodation. That doesn't work. NOW - what do you do?
That is the situation that Israel faces. I for one wish them luck. Tolerance and forbearance in today's world is apparently NOT in the cards.
Israel on its own would be much like the US or EU. The PA could have been so too. In the 1990's everyone wanted them to do that and would have paid premium prices for it to happen. The PA was like S. Africa after Mandela took over. They could have written their own ticket. Neither the PA or S. Africa has done as well as they could have, however, the powers that be in S. Africa for all of their faults appear to love their people and nation enough to keep it afloat.
The PA on the other hand was at first a KLEPTOCRACY and now a PROTO-MULLAHCRACY. I am at wits end except for the option of Israeli honor and survival. If anyone else has a better IDEA please advise.

63 NY Nana  Fri, May 18, 2007 7:01:45pm

As Israel still fights to exist, while the leaders of the free world pile on Israel, we approach a date that should have settled it..and that should have had Jerusalem recognized as the eternal capital of Israel...as if it has to; it was given to the Jews by G-d. Move the consulate embassy, Mr. President, move from Tel Aviv...damn it. Prelude to the Six Days

There has hardly been a Middle East peace plan in the past 40 years -- including the current Saudi version -- that does not demand a return to the status quo of June 4, 1967. Why is that date so sacred? Because it was the day before the outbreak of the Six-Day War in which Israel scored one of the most stunning victories of the 20th century. The Arabs have spent four decades trying to undo its consequences.

In fact, the real anniversary should be now, three weeks earlier. On May 16, 1967, Egyptian President Gamal Nasser ordered the evacuation from the Sinai Peninsula of the U.N. buffer force that had kept Israel and Egypt at peace for 10 years. The United Nations complied, at which point Nasser imposed a naval blockade of Israel's only outlet to the south, the port of Eilat -- an open act of war.[...]

I really thnk that the problem is there is no difference. Fatah organized before Hamas and all those unemployed bozos signed on just for the job. If Hamas had been set up well before Fatah, the situation would be the reverse.
It's sort of a "Gee, Fritz, are you gong to join the SA or the SS?"
No real diffenrence, just a queston of who's signing the check.

The thing about the fucking egyptians is that they let weaponry and explosives in to gaza, but don;t let the palestinians out into egypt.

Smudge the border between egypt and gaza, and cut water and/or electricity in to gaza from Israel even as she hits them with long distance weaponry. No re-occupation. Simply tremendous pressure for the egyptians who call themselves gaza palestinians to relocate back into egypt from whence their parents came.

HI,

Did anyone see Steve "I'm a good Jew" Erlanger's report in the NY Times? ([Link: www.nytimes.com...]

He is very careful to avoid any awkwardness over the targets hit (Schools, Synagogue, Homes).

103 USASupport  Fri, May 18, 2007 10:49:34pm

I'm confused as to why the death of jew-hating MILITANTS is a bad thing.

104 jcr  Fri, May 18, 2007 11:01:57pm

Here's a wild idea for the Hamassholes: don't fire rockets into Israel, and you won't get blown to bits driving away from the launch site. DUH!

Perfect follow-up strike target!

106 ocean_s  Sat, May 19, 2007 2:54:29am

Seems to me that the likelihood is that there may not have been swarms of people hanging around the car at the time it was "hit".

But as the "news" does not refer to the injured or killed as anything other than random people, then the Swarms imply that they (the injured and dead with no portfolio) were just innocent bystanders. promoting the image Poor Palestinians. Bad Israel. Rather then Well done Israel you avoided all unnecessary death and injury.

On another point. Does anyone else notice how clean and tidy the area is. is there a meaning for this?

Build the wall taller and deeper and put a net over the whole thing. Just throw the food over the wall.

Oh I wouldn't bother with food.

Palestinians in general and Hamas specifically are one example of why VX gas can be effective in controlling a variety of blood sucking, garbage eating, feces smeared pests.

110 observer  Sat, May 19, 2007 6:01:37am

Is there a note or record somewhere of the first-ever car swarm? How/when/where did this delightful ritual get started?
Perhaps George Soros could dedicate $2.5 million to build a car swarm museum in Gaza. To get tourism going when the Palestinian state...
Back to the Bowling Hall of Fame, I guess.

Troll alert on aisle #111. Dumbass aparently does not understand the difference between TARGETING civilians (what his buddies do) and striking militants who are hiding behind women and children.

FOAD, troll.

Yes. Because it's staged.

116 Live4Truth  Sat, May 19, 2007 9:30:07am

Ya know, with all of the inspecting of bombed-out cars that the Palestinians have done over the years, they surely must be the world's foremost authority on what happens after a vehicle is struck by an Israeli missile.

WHAT ? There's a fence between Egypt and Gaza ? Good Lord ,
I didn't see that being built on any MSM news stories . I haven't seen any mockups of it on any of Zombie's photos . Surely the Left should take up the campaighn to have it dismantled .
(Don't hold your breath , though)

#107 JohnRC
I wouldn't bother with food , either . After all , they're growing plenty in the greenhouses gifted to them by departing Israeli settlers and paid for by Bill Gates' generosity , aren't they ?

I find it hard to believe that every one of the deaths is an accident. I mean it's sort of hard to not notice a school in your way when shooting at terrorists, isn't it.
there's a big difference between you and me. I think that both sides are at foult when they kill innocents, but you blindly follow israel, believing that it can do no wrong, and that is what the biggest problem is. you should be able to criticize both sides, and condemn yours when it is at fault.

"I find it hard to believe that every one of the deaths is an accident."

You are referring to deaths caused by Israel, and apparently referring to deaths of people near the targets engaged by Israel.

Why do you find it hard?

And are the deaths caused by the Kassams accidental? In a way I guess they are, since they can't be aimed at a target smaller than a square kilometer.

121 Meremortal  Sat, May 19, 2007 12:32:50pm

arabookworm,

I repeat, why do you find it hard to believe that all colateral damage by Israelis is accidental?

Israel has a lot of firepower, and could kill thousands a day.

When your side fires a indiscriminate weapon into Israel, would it not be fair for Israel to do the same? Yet Israel does not. It fires upon the perps of indicriminate death.

And you see no difference.

Why do you see no difference?

Umm no. Israel is doing PLENTY wrong. Such as:
-not officially recognizing the Armenian Holocaust, possibly the greatest atrocity ever committed by Muslims
-not bombing Iran's nuke complex at Natanz
-dismantling settlements
-not transferring the Palestinians
-not building a taller fence
-being so damned afraid of offending people like you

These car swarms always remind me of:

flies on shit
ants on shit
beetles in shit

124 jingoisticirredentist  Sat, May 19, 2007 11:49:42pm

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, a car swarm is the perfect time to drop a GBU-10 for a re-strike on the vehicle, to ensure the original target was destroyed.

125 devilzadvocate  Sun, May 20, 2007 5:35:06am

You should have seen the picture from one of my local newspapers, they had a picture of this fiasco, and some insane palestinian screeming with blood running down his face.

How did this happen about an hour after the van was blown up, and what would make someone "inspecting" a trashed van start screaming for the camera with blood running down his face?
