Mon, Jun 4, 2007 at 7:50:54 am PDT

Two more dead and three injured in the south Thailand jihad: Teacher, villager killed, three officials injured in attacks in Narathiwat.

Narathiwat - Muslim terrorists launched a spate of attacks in this southern border province, killing a Muslim teacher and a Muslim villager and injuring three officials.

In Rusoh district, a soldier was injured when the insurgents detonated a bomb buried on village road at 6:45 am on Sunday.

In Joh I Rong district, insurgents detonated a bomb and damaged two police patrol cars at 9:10 pm. Police were not injured. Ten minutes later, two men on a motorcycle hurled a Molotov cocktail against a Buddhist’s house. The fire was quickly put out, causing little damage.

In Sungai Padi district, police were abushed by a group of insurgents and two sides exchanged gunfire for about five minutes. Two policemen were injured.

While the shooting was going on, a Muslim teacher was shot dead in a mosque. When a unit of soldiers arrived to inspect the crime scene, they were attacked by Muslim villagers on suspicion that they killed the teachers.

Muslim on Muslim violence? Muslim on Buddhist violence? I see a trend here...

5 Malatrope  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 7:54:35am

Charles, might I suggest adding an automatic counter, as in "ROP Strikes in Thailand, #234"?

Groundhog Day, indeed.

6 Carl in Jerusalem  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 7:55:34am

Deja vu all over again.

Hey Charles, do you know that your home page now has an ad called How to Convert to Islam? I'm sure that's just what you want to do...

Sooo... when do the Thai finally get tired of it? Maybe it's not such a high priority because it's not in the capitol? Just guessing...

8 Peacekeeper  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 7:58:51am

The obligatory daily Thailand atrocity report.

Bush's fault, obviously.

10 lucius septimius  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 7:59:47am

I've been trying to find additional information on the story without success. Who killed the Muslim teacher in the mosque? Were the jihadis targeting certain Muslims as well as Buddhists?

OT , but not, in enemy and essence:

Well, as our resident LGF operative there says, the perpetrators, a vicious breed of Islamists, are coming over the southern border, from Malaysia...
Sounds as if they need a fence there...

Is anyone keeping track of the body count in Thailand and/or Malaysia and other hotspots for non-jew/non-US muslim terrorism? I find it hard to believe the Thai muslim community is up in arms about Israeli occupation etc. That is the root cause, right?

In all the remembrances of the 6 Day War and (from a previous thread) D-Day, let us not forget that other great June battle, the Battle of the Philippine Sea (June 19-20), otherwise known as the "Great Marianas Turkey Shoot." The largest naval battle of all time which ensured the defeat of Imperial Japan.

My dad was in the Marianas then -- I asked him once what he and his shipmates thought about D-Day. He said, hell, that were doing that every couple of weeks -- what's the big deal.

15 blue_like_jazz  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 8:18:33am

what IS the body count up to, now? i agree with #5 that we should have an automatic counter.

16 coquimbojoe  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 8:20:51am

Hey Carridine, wherever you are, be careful. And please give us some insight as to why the government isn't moving harder against them.

17 miamitech  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 8:21:57am

wont be a problem till a tourist is killed.
off topic:
International terror alert status:

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist
threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved."
Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or
even "A Bit Cross." Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the
blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out.

Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody
Nuisance" The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning
level was during the great fire of 1666.

Also, the French government announced yesterday that it has raised its
terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in
France are "Surrender" and "Collaborate." The rise was precipitated by a
recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively
paralysing the country's military capability.

It's not only the English and French that are on a heightened level of
alert:

Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout loudly and excitedly" to
"Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective
Combat Operations" and "Change Sides". The Germans also increased
their
alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing
Marching Songs" They also have two higher levels: "Invade a
Neighbour" and "Lose"

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only
threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy.
These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish
navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

The counter very near to the top of the sidebar at my site (you will see this on MANy sites this counter) has Islamic attacks since 9/11 and when you click it it brings you to the Religion of Peace page where they give you the details in 90 day blocks.

Those who can't learn by checking LGF post, and click that advertisement... and they will learn the hard way that Islam is one way road to death cult community..

Another day, another outrage. The poor, largely peaceful, Thai people. Eventually, even the most peaceful people can push back, however. Don't forget that St. Sergei of Radonezh threw off his monk's robes, picked up a sword, and kicked some righteous butt.
Just got back from taking down a bunch of "March to protest the illegal Israeli occupation" posters from Main Street. Post No Bills ordinance here, don't you know. Just doin' muh duty, Ma'am.

...killing a Muslim teacher and a Muslim villager...

Are Were they moderate Muslims?

#13 Mr. Neutron
Please don't use "body count". The correct term is "grim milestone".

24 Vet_Missing_Parts (1LT, Ret)  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 8:53:43am

Has there been a day recently where the RoP _didn't_ kill someone in Thailand?

Just curious. We should have a counter up... like the thing industrial plants do XX Safe Days (so they can proclaim to the neighborhood how long its been since a guy got his hand crushed), but the opposite:

XX Unsafe Days on Earth due to RoP

Keeping track of ugliness... no need to date it back to the Mo Man himself, though it might shed some light for some people.

25 Carridine  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 8:57:46am

#16 Coquim: I believe the Thai government is taking steps behind the scenes to get something into play, AND MUST DO IT RIGHT...

Look, His Majesty the King is a decent, hard-working man who is growing old and knows the Crown Prince won't be crowned King...

The King loves ALL THAIS, even Muslims. Makes it tough for him to publicly endorse or privately encourage the harsh measures needed.

At the same time, there was the need for that Special Investigation to at least get as far as it did, without sparking RIOTS, and now its out of the way and the govt can move more quickly and more FORCEFULLY against what seem to be mainly Malaysian firebrand soul-sucking thug-Islamists.

Its coming, the Thais fought in Korea with us, and fought the long, dirty war against the Communist cadre in the jungles here... DID what was necessary... and now Thailand is one of the Top Ten Wealthiest Nations in the world, clean, safe and happy...

EXCEPT near the Religion of Peace! (And the government is not yet ready to publicly announce the Coming of the Buddha Amit-Abha, known to the west as Baha'u'llah)

26 coquimbojoe  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 9:28:10am

25 Carridine Thanks. I love Thailand, and hope it will remain a great place to visit. One of my closest friends just bought land on Ko Samui, and I would love to go and freeload off of him without having to worry!

ROFLOL! That was hilarious! Thanks for lightening what is otherwise a very grim thread.

29 Andopolis  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 9:47:29am

I'm confused... does this count as a bumper sticker, or a campaign slogan?

And you, sir, have a very good dry wit. :)

Thank you, JustTanya, for cue-ing me to go back and look... :)

But...I thought we weren't picking on France anymore...at least giving them a wait-and-see breather...?

:)

Narathiwat - Muslim terrorists launched a spate of attacks in this southern border province, killing a Muslim teacher and a Muslim villager and injuring three officials.

Kudos to The Nation for naming it correctly.

32 tarkus  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 11:12:06am

I'm sure P.B.S. will cover this and Robert McNeil will report this on his next special...

33 theheat  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 11:45:26am

So... WTF is Thailand's newly-appointed security advisor ex-assassin guy? Seems odd they'd mention his new position, because it sure hasn't deterred the Islamic killing spree.

34 Carridine  Mon, Jun 4, 2007 5:24:35pm

#26 Coquim: Go! Enjoy! Samui Island is TOO EXPENSIVE for Muslims, you'll be safe there OUTSIDE the tourist built-ups!

BEEE-yootiful Samui, yes?
