After many weeks of pretending they had nothing to do with it, suddenly Hamas appears to be ready to either produce kidnapped reporter Alan Johnston, or announce his death: Report: Dramatic announcement about captured BBC reporter expected.

On some dim level, they seem to realize that the past few days haven’t been great for their image. The murders, the lynchings, tossing people off tall buildings.

Time to throw the infidels a bone.

Hamas’ military wing, the Izz el-Din al-Qassam Brigades, said that it would call a press conference in the coming hours in order to make a dramatic announcement regarding captured BBC reporter Alan Jonston. (Ali Waked)

The BBC will undoubtedly respond as desired, with a flood of positive propaganda for the new Palestinian state in Gaza.

(There I go, being cynical again.)
