At The New Republic, Jonathan Chait tries to divert attention from TNR’s continuing unwillingness to admit serious journalistic misconduct in the Scott Beauchamp scandal, with one of the oldest tricks in the Book of Sleaze—a hit piece on an ideological opponent: The Thuggery Of William Kristol.
It’s the usual leftist smokescreen; we can summarize it in one whiny sentence: “Only a right-wing thug would ever dare suggest we don’t support the troops!”
The New Republic has behaved disgracefully in this affair, and Bob Owens is wondering when someone will put an end to the slow motion train wreck.
