Voting in Disguise: Not Popular in Canada
Public outrage is building in Canada, after election officials decided to allow Muslim women to vote in all federal elections while in disguise.
Canada’s chief electoral officer will be asked to reverse his decision to allow veiled people to vote, or explain himself to a parliamentary committee.
If Elections Canada’s chief electoral officer Marc Mayrand does not backtrack, the Commons Committee on Procedure and House Affairs unanimously voted to conduct a study into the decision to allow veiled individuals to vote, to be completed by this Friday, Sept. 14.
The issue has been escalating over the past week. On Sunday, the Prime Minister assailed the decision and warned that the Elections Canada decision to allow Muslim women to vote even if they refuse to show their faces goes against the will of Parliament.
