 RetweetOutrage of the Day

Officials in Dearborn deliberately withheld information about Hussein Zorkot, arrested with a loaded AK-47 and camouflage paint—because they were afraid of “stirring anti-Muslim sentiments” and “fanning the flames of terrorism.”

This is bad craziness.

Hussein Zorkot is an open supporter of Hizballah. His web site has jihad music with sounds of explosions, pictures of Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and an image declaring the “start of my personal jihad,” dated September 8, 2007.

And the government of Dearborn hid this information from the public, at a time when the US was supposed to be on high alert for terrorist incidents, because they don’t trust the people who elected them. And because they’re afraid of stirring up more terrorism.

Really bad craziness.

On Tuesday, a nation honored those whose lives were lost during the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. But four days prior to the anniversary of the deadly terrorist attacks, a Wayne State medical student had city officials hoping that the event would not be marred by more bloodshed.

Houssein Zorkot, 26, was arrested Sept. 8 after he was observed wielding an AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifle in Hemlock Park, a popular destination for many Dearborn residents.

Zorkot, who is of Lebanese descent, was arraigned Tuesday in 19th District Court — the same day city officials sent out a press release about an event that had happened four days prior, and one day after the Press & Guide had contacted city officials seeking comment.

According to Dearborn Mayor “Jack” O“Reilly, Jr., the release of information about the case was delayed until after Zarkot’s arraignment and late in the day that marked the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. City officials feared that announcing the arrest of an armed Arabic man so close to anniversary of the attack would stir anti-Muslim sentiments and fan the flames of terrorism.

”We didn’t want this to become more than it is,“ O’Reilly said. ”There are certain things that the media latches onto, and this would have turned into a story about terrorism. That’s not the kind of tone we want to set.

Zorkot has not been identified as a terrorist and has yet to be associated with any terrorist group, O’Reilly said. He has been charged with multiple felonies for carrying a dangerous weapon.

Once again, we see the result of actions without consequences. Those officials will continue to officiate, most likely, with no lasting repercussions for their anti-American actions.

It really doesn't matter if he was officially affiliated with a terrorist organization. It's blatently obvious that he wanted to BE like one and ACT as they ACT, so what's the difference? Why does there need to be an official tie to a group when he's clearly a terrorist?

31 zombie  Mon, Sep 17, 2007 11:41:50am

There is a similar raging argument going on in the comments section of the SF Chronicle over recent months. There has been a huge increase in murders and gun violence in the Bay Area recently, especially in Richmond and Oakland. Because both of those cities are majority African-American, and riddled with gang activity, and because past experience has shown that 90% of the perpetrators AND the victims of street crime in Oakland and Richmond are black, one naturally assumes that the same is true in this current crime wave. But Chronicle absolutely refuses to name the race of the suspect in every instance. They'll have a whole article about a murder, and then conclude with, "The suspect is described as a male, of medium height, wearing baggy pants." Well, that sure is useful! He's wearing pants!

And so the argument rages in the comments section. And the conclusion is: PC editors and reporters invariably refuse to name a suspect's race or religion if the suspect is a minority. Because to do so is, in their twisted PC brains, a form of racism.

It's a threat until there is some action. THEN it's a crime, and due to the note, I would think that it could be tried as a hate crime, but lawyers will spin it as an act of agression due to the oppression of the western culture and it's inability to understand the 7th century mindset of the jiha(m)dist.

Liberals and disgust

Jonathan Haidt, a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia, does research on morality and emotion. In his early work, he writes on the Edge: The Third Culture website, "I told people short stories in which a person does something disgusting or disrespectful that was perfectly harmless (for example, a family cooks and eats its dog, after the dog was killed by a car). I was trying to pit the emotion of disgust against reasoning about harm and individual rights. I found that disgust won in nearly all groups I studied (in Brazil, India and the United States), except for groups of politically liberal college students, particularly Americans, who overrode their disgust and said that people have a right to do whatever they want, as long as they don't hurt anyone else."

Or maybe just the "palm to forehead" sound. A nice, thick "slap" sound.

As a side note, I think it'd be fun to hold the first annual "US Media Scavenger Hunt" where the media is released in teams in a massive field and told to locate certain things.

I honestly don't think that any of them would actually complete the required checklist, instead getting completely different items which they would consider "relevant."

Anyway...

interestingly, if one looks at the original raw police reports (which for some jurisdictions are available online), they ALWAYS mention the race of the suspect, as a matter of course. An essential component of IDing them. So it's nice to know that the police themselves haven't succumbed to PC brainwashing: it's the media, and in a few sick cases, elected officials, like the Dearborn mayor.

City officials feared that announcing the arrest of an armed Arabic man so close to anniversary of the attack would stir anti-Muslim sentiments and fan the flames of terrorism.

If it is okay to arrest someone who is armed who was intent upon commiting criminal acts, then arresting someone who was intent upon committing criminal acts based on their religious beliefs is similarly proper. Identifying it as such is also proper - and prudent.

These Dearborn officials are tremendously misguided if they think that Americans are quick to jump ugly and engage in anti-Islamic bias attacks. There simply hasn't been any evidence to suggest that has been the case, even years after 9/11. Also, arresting someone in Dearborn who was intent to kill more Americans isn't fanning the flames of terrorism, but rather deterring someone who would commit such terrorism by incarceration.

These officials have done nothing other than hide information from the people in their community, who should have the opportunity to know who is among them, what they intend to do, and know that there are Islamists who seek jihad.

By withholding this information, they put the community at large at a disadvantage.

re: #31 zombie
That's a common issue in the reporting of many crimes around the country - clear identification of suspects isn't always clear because of "sensitivity" towards one group or another, lest there might be retribution/bias attacks in the other direction.

Muslim terrorist leaders are "thankful" for the efforts of activist and congressional candidate Cindy Sheehan, stating in a new book Sheehan's anti-Iraq war activities and her statements against President Bush "give us hope" the U.S. will change its Mideast policies.

"You [Sheehan] give us hope and you show us that there are different Americans than those whom we know," stated Ramadan Adassi, chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group in the West Bank's Anskar Refugee Camp.

The United States has determined that Syria has been seeking nuclear weapons from North Korea.

"We do know that there are a number of foreign technicians that have been in Syria," Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Andrew Semmel said. "We do know that there may have been contact between Syria and some secret suppliers for nuclear equipment. Whether anything transpired remains to be seen."
One North Korean-flagged ship, Al Hamad, arrived in the Syrian port of Tartous on Sept. 3. Three days later, the Israel Air Force attacked an unspecified target in northeastern Syria along the Euphrates River near the border with Turkey.

It's worth pointing out that on Sept 4th & 5th a delegation of North Korean officials, including the Minister of Mines, visited Iran. Is it possible they hopped over to Syria while they were in the neighbourhood?

re: #31 zombie
That's a common issue in the reporting of many crimes around the country - clear identification of suspects isn't always clear because of "sensitivity" towards one group or another, lest there might be retribution/bias attacks in the other direction.

Well, in this case, it wouldn't be about "retribution." Oakland has several wealthy areas populated mostly by wealthy liberals who don't even own guns and the last thing any rich Oaklander would do is go stomping around the gang area looking to wreak "retribution" for some random murder.

No, it's all about trying to mold public opinion; to change perceptions of stereotypes. Most of which ends up being ham-handed propaganda that contravenes what people experience on a day-to-day basis. It's not like the average person doesn't know that there are violent gangs and drug dealers on the streets of Oakland; and depending on what neighborhood you go to, everyone know what they "look like." All the propaganda in the world can't change those perceptions.

I don't know about your jurisdiction, but in Canada a hate crime is defined in the Criminal Code as "advocating hatred of an identifiable group". For example saying "I hate Elbonians" is not a hate crime, but saying "You should hate Elbonians, too" is a hate crime.

Given that definition, I find it hard to understand why a certain "holy book" which advocates hatred of and violence towards members of other religions is NOT a hate crime.

In other words, this jerk, Jack O'Reilly, Jr, the mayor of Dearborn, thinks that he has the right to withhold vital information from the public.

It's not up to Jack O'Reilly to set the tone. And what, is it about if it isn't about terrorism?

Subject: FW: Fwd: Upgrading your website...funny!

While looking for solutions to help upgrade our website and
seeking a gift for my Mom and Dads 60th anniversary, I ran across the
following...

Upgrade needed

INSTALLING HUSBAND

Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and
noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance --
Particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated
flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled
many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention
6.5 and then installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0,
and Golf Clubs 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and housecleaning
2.6 simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix
these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?
Signed, Desperate

Dear Desperate:

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package,
While Husband 1.0 is an Operating System.

Please enter the command: "http: I Thought You Loved Me.HTML"
and try to download Tears 6.2 and don't forget to install the Guilt 3.0
update.
If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then
automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But
remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to
default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a
very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 (it runs a
virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your
system resources).

Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program.
These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have
limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might
consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance.

We recommend Food 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck,

Tech Support

Meanwhile in the Magic Kingdom women are making another effort to throw off one of the shackles of islam:

Saudi women lobby king for driving right

JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia - For the first time ever, a group of women in the only country that bans female drivers have formed a committee to lobby for the right to get behind the wheel, and they plan to petition King Abdullah in the next few days for the privilege.

snip

"We would like to remind officials that this is, as many have said, a social and not a religious or political issue," said Fowziyyah al-Oyouni, a founding member of the Committee of Demanders of Women's Right to Drive Cars. "And since it's a social issue, we have the right to lobby for it."

snip

Good luck with that:

The last time the issue was raised was two years ago, when Mohammed al-Zulfa, a member of the unelected Consultative Council, asked his colleagues to think about studying the possibility of allowing women over age 35 or 40 to drive — unchaperoned on city streets but accompanied by a male guardian on highways.

The suggestion touched off a fierce controversy that included calls for al-Zulfa's removal from the council and stripping him of Saudi citizenship, as well as accusations he was encouraging women to commit the double sins of discarding their veils and mixing with men.

Update Food 3.1 and Hot Lingerie 8.0 are now available.

My guess is Dearborn is lost and recovery will be difficult!

I'd not go this year, and make my reasons clear as to why you've made this decision.

For the sake of debate, I'll take the other side of this story.
On the surface, it looks justifiable to me that they delayed the release of information. Yes, the public has a right to know about these things, but imagine this scenario:

So the investigators have little information beyond Zorkot. They don't know yet if he was directly associated with other groups that might have similar "personal Jihad" goals. What if they made the announcement straight out that they'd captured a would-be terrorist sneaking around in the park with his AK-47, and that a possibly serious terrorist threat had been averted? Maybe he had associates the investigators didn't know about.
Would they just sit back and do nothing? Or might they take the few days of advance warning following the capture of their fellow "warrior," and plot something far more sinister than a late-night excursion through the park?

I think it could be seen as an err on the side of caution, rather than a deliberate cover-up to keep people from associating terrorism with Sept 11.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I beg of you do NOT quote in their entirety extremely long posts -- particularly OT posts (that are in this case old internet humor that's from at least the '90s) just to add one little additional quip. The comment was too huge to begin with; in situations like that, just use the "reply" button, not the "quote" button. (Or, if you do use the "quote" button, prune away most of the original comment). If we as a group can get out of the habit of "quoting" huge comments just to add one sentence to it, we'll make the threads a lot easier to read and not have so much scroll-over territory.

Authorities don't know whether the Web site is tied to his actions in the park, which is east of Schaefer and north of Ford Road.
"Was he really dangerous or was he acting out some fantasy? We don't know," O'Reilly said.
But, he added, "right now, there is no evidence that he had any kind of plan. ... We haven't found any established link between him and any terrorist groups."

O'Reilly said that Zorkot's parents believe their son was having a hard time fitting in.

"His parents ... have said he's a young man who's just confused right now," O'Reilly said.

For f-ck's sake, he's almost thirty! "Confused young man" my ass!

(PLEASE POST THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AT OTHER WEBSITES)

The U.S. Senate Project (an initiative to increase congressional awareness of the nature and goals of jihad) currently has 87 volunteers in 39 states.

WE ARE STILL SEEKING ADDITIONAL CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FROM ALL 50 STATES, ESPECIALLY THE FOLLOWING 12:

Connecticut
Delaware
Hawaii
Kansas
Mississippi
Montana
North Dakota
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Vermont
West Virginia
Wyoming

THE PROJECT: We're looking for people in every state of the Union who would be willing to purchase, from Amazon or any other source, a copy of Robert Spencer's new book Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is And Islam Isn't and mail it, on an agreed upon date, to one of the senators in your state. We want to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message. If we get more than two people per state, books can also be sent to the U.S. House of Representatives.

If you'd like to participate (or you just have questions), please write to me at traehnam@yahoo.com under the subject heading "Senate," and tell me the state your senator represents, and a nickname. No need for your real name. And I will never share your email address with anyone, not even with other volunteers for this project.

And visit jihadawareness.blogspot.com to get more info on this project and to leave comments other volunteers can read. You can also see there the growing list of participants in this project, and the states their senators represent. I've also designed a graphic that might amuse. Scroll down when you get to the site.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.

Right before each of us mails the book, we’ll issue a press release to media outlets in as many states as possible, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.

One of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the Anti-Jihad Caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick. I've also been calling various congressional offices to get advice on how best to proceed.

O.T. According to my friend Jerry (a bit of a goose stepper)

Bill says: Hillary never wanted to run for public office, but she did want to work at public service.
The true facts are: When Clinton was considering not running for another term as Governor of Arkansas in 1990, Hillary said she would run if he didn't. She and Bill even had me take two surveys to assess her chances of winning. The conclusion was that she couldn't win because people would just see her as a seat warmer for when Bill came back licking his wounds after losing for president. So she didn't run. Bill did and won. But there is no question she had her eye on public office, as opposed to service, long ago.

Bill says: In law school Hillary worked on legal services for the poor.
The true facts are: Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and de velop grounds for appeal.

Bill says: Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's rights project for poor kids.
The true facts are: Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

Bill says: Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers.
The true facts are: She flunked the DC bar exam and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had no job offers in Arkansas and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She only joined the prestigious Rose Law Firm after Bill became Attorney General and made partner only after he was elected Governor.

Bill says: President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its Chairman.
The true facts are: The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be chairman.

Bill says: She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital.
The true facts are: Yes she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Wal-Mart board of directors, for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Bill says: Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994 but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance.
The true facts are: Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Bill Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. I helped to negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals' tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds.

Bill says: Hillary was the face of America all over the world.
The true facts are: Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic, and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says: Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children's and women's issues.
The true facts are: Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation.

German Minister Would Shoot Down Hijacked Plane

Germany's Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung has sparked fury by saying he would order a hijacked passenger jet to be shot down if necessary -- even though the country's highest court ruled last year that such a move would be illegal.

German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung is under fire for declaring that he would order a hijacked passenger jet to be shot down if it were being used in a terror attack, despite last year's Constitutional Court ruling that it would be illegal.

Jung, a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives, told Focus magazine in an interview published on Monday: "If there is no other way I would give the order to fire to protect our citizens."

He admitted that the Federal Constitutional Court had ruled that a hijacked plane could only be shot down if only terrorists and no innocent people were on board.

How idiotic. What are they going to do, hijack an empty plane? Stop and let the passengers off?

What about innocent people on the ground?

One of these days, a politically-correct leader(s) is going to withhold information he or she has about an on-going crime or criminal conspiracy. And if the elements of the crime/conspiracy are felonious, withholding such information is "Misprision of a Felony." And they most certainly should be charged, convicted, and sent to prison. And if people actually get killed by the terrorists, make it voluntary manslaughter.

"His parents ... have said he's a young man who's just confused right now," O'Reilly said.

Confused because he wasn't strapped with explosives ready to make a martyr out of himself maybe. The parents tried and tried to teach him the proper path to jihad and just walking around with an assault rifle wasn't it. If the police will release him they will make sure he gets proper bomb making materials and eliminates the "confusion". They have some friends in FL.

IAEA chief warns against striking Iran

"I would not talk about any use of force," said ElBaradei, noting that only the Security Council can authorize such action. "There are rules on how to use force, and I would hope that everybody would have gotten the lesson after the Iraq situation, where 700,000 innocent civilians have lost their lives on the suspicion that a country has nuclear weapons."

He was alluding to a key U.S. argument for invading Iraq in 2003 without Security Council approval - that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear arms. Four years later, no such weapons have been found.

"I do not believe at this stage that we are facing a clear and present danger that require we go beyond diplomacy," ElBaradei said, adding that his agency had no information "the Iran program is being weaponized."

I have been deluded enough to think that the anti-islamist flames have been fanned since Sep. 11, 2001 and have been growing ever since (actually longer; I recall some Islamist atrocities including Achille Lauro incident and the Beirut marine barracks bombing for which our friends the Iranians were responsible.

Then I have witnessed the emergence, from under rocks, of Islamist apologists and the foolish peaceniks protecting the sensitivities of the people whose world view is at the very root of the problems.

I want to hear how ashamed the Muslim people in Dearborn are of this Hussein Zurkot. I'd also like to know if we deal with a group whose identity does not allow for someone feeling shame for intents to murder other individuals.

I know I ask too much.

Drop Israel To It's Knees

PA: Israel Agrees to Destroy Jewish Towns, Starting in November by Hillel Fendel

The agreement ends with this paragraph:

A document based on principles of the above type must be reached before the international summit in November, must be presented during the summit, and must be anchored in international decisions after it. Immediately following the summit, parallel with the negotiations for a detailed agreement, Israel will begin withdrawing its forces and evacuating settlements from areas in the West Bank. Completion of the various stages of evacuation will be done parallel to the completion of the negotiations.

Clauses 3 and 4 indicate that Israel has agreed to give up the Temple Mount, Judaism's most sacred spot in the world, and allow an "administration" to determine when Jews would be allowed to visit or pray there.

Where were you during the Clinton years? That is exactly what happened that led to the infamous Gorelick memo that put up the wall between the CIA and the FBI. Clinton was getting campaign funds from the Chinese and to cover it up the wall was built. The singer, who is not Jewish, arrived in Israel Wednesday on the eve of Jewish new year to attend a conference on Kabbalah or Jewish mysticism.

Madonna met Peres at his official Jerusalem residence on Saturday evening and the two exchanged gifts, with Madonna receiving a lavishly bound copy of the Jewish Bible.

I walked from downtown Detroit to Dearborn when I was 19. I remember thinking "Holy crap, I'm in Iraq."

From my experiences of going to party stores back then...the Iranian folks were actually pretty cool. They offered me a job everytime I went in. Also, there was no backlash for the first gulf war...these guys were happy to be American and said so... "I'd be nothing in Iran if I was still there. Here? I own a store and make very good money. etc...etc.."

I'm not sure if it is the same nowadays. Back then it was rare to see veiled women and now they're all over. I still think the business owners tend to be more open minded than any welfare riders and students.

The study only proves this:

A random sampling of 25-year-old men will include those who will die young, and those who will live long. So, the offspring of 25-year-olds will inherit this random selection of lifespan genes, and the average lifespan of the species will remain unchanged.

However, a random sampling of 70-year-old men will a priori exclude all those who will die young (self-evidently), so the offspring of 70-year-olds will ALL inherit genes that are long-lifespan longevity genes.

The study basically proves that astounding fact that old people live longer, and that Mendelian genetics is true!

Shocka!

Martial arts instruction depends on the school and the instructor (duh, I guess I should say something obvious). What I'm trying to say is that you have to interview the instructor and view the class before tossing impressionable kids in. Especially if they are already playing at emulating cartoons.

A good school teaches much in the way of self-discipline and conflict avoidance (as an armed citizen I view this as a worthy goal). A good teacher promotes healthy self-esteem (as opposed to the moonbat stuff) and will ride herd on the student's learning process to make sure the maturity is there before the knowledge.

Scouts can be much the same. I had a great Pack, great Webelos, one lousy troop, and then one excellent troop. I learned a lot that I consider the basis of my later life. A good Scoutmaster (or multiples) is necessary; a disciplined real Scout troop is also necessary. Scouts are great - a pack of yahoos starting fires is not.

Good on you for making sure the Kid is grounded with character-building activities and church. The best kind of drug problem is "yeah, I had a drug problem - I was drug to church every Sunday".

(IsraelNN.com) A truck carrying 21 Arab passengers arrived at the Tapuah checkpoint south of Shechem on Monday afternoon and was asked to stop for inspection. The driver, an Israeli citizen, refused to stop, and sped away from the checkpoint instead, endangering nearby soldiers. IDF officers and police managed to chase after the truck and force the driver to come to a halt.

Police discovered that the driver had a false policeman’s ID, a police hat, and police siren. The driver and his 21 passengers, none of them Israeli citizens, were taken to a nearby police station for questioning

Zorkot has not been identified as a terrorist and has yet to be associated with any terrorist group, O’Reilly said. He has been charged with multiple felonies for carrying a dangerous weapon.

I'm just going to keep saying it and saying it..."our enemies are united by a belief system, not by the means they use to promote it".

It's not particularly surprising to me that the same type of mentality that believes 9/11 was just a really big criminal act, would want us all to view every act of terrorism as just another crime. That way, when we are attacked again by something devastating, we will have already been prepped to identify it as a criminal act that means nothing beyond the tactics used to carry it out.

Zorkot has not been identified as a terrorist and has yet to be associated with any terrorist group, O’Reilly said.

Liberals have some sort of need to be able to classify people into groups to give them a group identity. Liberals do not understand the concept of the individual. Since the guy didn't have a business card from Nasrallah in his wallet, no letter of introduction from Bin Laden, it is inconceivable in their world for him to be a terrorist.

Zorkot has not been identified as a terrorist and has yet to be associated with any terrorist group, O’Reilly said.

B.S. We all saw that guy's website.

It really doesn't matter if he was officially affiliated with a terrorist organization. It's blatently obvious that he wanted to BE like one and ACT as they ACT, so what's the difference? Why does there need to be an official tie to a group when he's clearly a terrorist?

That dhimmi mayor wants to see Zorkot's al-Qaeda id card. Only then is he a terrorist. Scary stuff indeed. But this is where 'the stolen election of 2000', Dan Rather, faux-tography, and blatant propaganda passing as news has been leading all along. If our elites can make it up as they go, why would they bother telling anything at all that might have any relevance to insuring the security of the public they took an oath of office to safeguard? Political correctness rules all.

Anybody wants to extend their life, they can greatly enhance their chances of doing so - by borderline starvation consuming just enough calories to allow continued respiration while limiting things like enteric cellular divison; yep, you can extend your life to a degree.

But it probably does seem like you live much longer since you're miserable while doing so (like dieting).

re: #259 OldLineTexan

Agreed, OLT! additionally...

Mandy-- A good martial arts school also teaches *control*, does not allow its students to spar outside the school, and takes intro. to sparring and board-breaking very slowly. Personally, I agree with my first tkd school that beginners (of any age) should not spar before they gain an orange (one step up from white) belt, or break anything before the next (green) belt.

Walk straight out of a school that lets lower rank students do full-contact sparring. They *aren't* ready, don't have the skill or control to not hurt others or themselves. If there is contact for the higher ranks, safety gear should be available. Courtesy and proper conduct should be enforced. Schools that heavily promote tourney competition usually aren't for kids just starting, or any serious student, imo.

When a child is ready, the right school can be a great experience!

Translation: It's us Americans who are the barbarians, not the terrorists so they need to keep terrorist activity secret so we won't run through the streets killing anybody who might look even the slightest bit middle eastern.

Just like when Shrillary Clintong made her speech against school vouchers saying Americans would start going to schools that taught KKK and white supremacist curriculum if the government didn't have total control.

Of course the real reason they cover this stuff up is so it can happen because leftists really do support terrorist attacks on the United States.

We didn’t want this to become more than it is,” O’Reilly said.

The failure to report germane details, like religious affiliation, which, combined with jihadi postings on a website and illegally carrying an AK in public while in camoflage, in this case points to terrorism, makes turning this into very much more than it might be, quite easy.

Next time, simply report all of the facts, and let the reporter and editors discriminatorally edit and get everything wrong.

There are certain things that the media latches onto, and this would have turned into a story about terrorism. That’s not the kind of tone we want to set.”

Zorkot self-identifies himself as specifically a jihadi, an Islamic terrorist. Zorkot intentional, calculated, pre-meditated actions make this “a story about terrorism” .

Zorkot has not been identified as a terrorist and has yet to be associated with any terrorist group, O’Reilly said.

Again, Zorkot self-identifies himself as specifically a jihadi, an Islamic terrorist.

What part of this is unclear?

All of the situation is clear to the voters of Dearborn.

Since the Dearborn officials are intentionally, and while under no duress, withholding identifying information on suspects, specifically ones suspected of attempting to perpetrate violent crimes, can these same Dearborn officials be indicted as accessories after the fact?

After logging in, go to "Site Admin" for the LGF Dictionary, then go to the "Users" tab, then go to the "Your Profile" sub-tab. On the Your Profile page, UNcheck the box that says

"Use the visual rich editor when writing."

Then make sure to click the "Update Profile" button on the right side. I think (though I'm not entirely sure) that this "feature" "visual rich editing" is what causes some of the screwy auto-editing changes that WordPress does that we don't like. You should tell the other editors to turn off that check-box too, if you catch them online.

Dear sir or madam or other,

Thank you for your enquiry. At the moment, I do not have a pet bird, and so do not require your brand of cage liner.

In addition, I would sooner buy carbon credits from Albert Gore, Jr. than spend one thin capitalist dime on the profligate waste of prefectly good bathroom tissue that you so generously label a "newspaper" after you manufacture it into the equivalent of used bathroom tissue.

Please remove my name and address from your files as soon as possible. In the immortal words of Samuel Adams:

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Federal Prosecutor Arrested In Child Sex Sting

DETROIT -- A U.S. Justice Department official has been arrested on suspicion of traveling to Detroit over the weekend to have sex with a minor.

John David R. Atchison, 53, an assistant U.S. attorney from the northern district of Florida, was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Detroit Monday afternoon.

An undercover officer posed as a mother offering her child to Atchison for sex, according to police.

Prosecutors said Atchison flew from Pensacola, Fla., to Detroit on Sunday intending to have sex with the 5-year-old girl.
He was arrested at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

He is charged with enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.

According to authorities, Atchison made contact with a detective working undercover for the Macomb County Sheriff's department's.

The detective, acting as the child's mother, allegedly arranged a sexual encounter between Atchison and her 5-year-old daughter, police said.

In deposition, detectives said Atchison suggested the mother tell her daughter that "you found her a sweet boyfriend who will bring her presents."

The undercover detective expressed concern about physical injury to the 5-year-old girl as a result of the sexual activity. Detectives said Atchison responded, " I am always gentle and loving; not to worry, no damage ever, no rough stuff ever. I only like it soft and nice."

The undercover detective asked how Atchison can be certain of no injury. He responded, "Just gotta go slow and very easy. I've done it plenty," according to detectives.

Atchison, a member of the Florida bar association since 1984, lives in Gulf Breeze, Fla., near Pensacola.

He is president of the Gulf Breeze Sports Association, a youth athletics organization. His wife is a science teacher at Gulf Breeze High School.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Department and the FBI were a part of the investigation.

Palestinian economy key to peace process, Brown says

Palestinians need to be given an economic stake in their own future to encourage "forces of peace and moderation", Gordon Brown urged today, as the UK warned of the need to break the "vicious cycle" of poverty, unemployment, instability and conflict with Israel.

In his first comments on the Middle East since taking over from Tony Blair in June, the prime minister signalled a strong interest in reviving the moribund peace process by endorsing a "bleak" report on the Palestinian economy. The private sector in the Gaza Strip is now near "total collapse," while movement within the West Bank remains "highly restricted," the report, to which the prime minister wrote the foreward, said.

Israeli closures and security restrictions on the movement of goods and services "represent the greatest barrier" to Palestinian economic growth. These are targeted at extremists but "impact equally on the majority of moderate Palestinians," the report warned, adding: "Israel's medium-term security can only be assured through Palestinian prosperity."

I'm thinking the Pali "Psychotic Bastard" factor rates a tad higher tham Israeli restrictions.

Maybe if the Palis had some to produce, maybe with some Greenhouses or...

What I'm trying to do is place something (anything) in the internal-reference tag for each individual word-link -- something that is invisible, yet doesn't evaporate every time the dictionary code gets re-edited.

Currently, I put the ASCII code for a "non-breaking space" which works the first time around, but as soon as the next editor makes a change, WordPress renders the non-breaking space into just a space, and then the code doesn't recognize anything as existing in the ref tag, and the end result is the internal word-links are right up against the top of the window again. Sigh.

i can't seem to stop it from happening.

Do you have any suggestions for how to achieve this effect:

Each individual word-link should take the user to a place where the linked-to word is one or two lines below the top of the window, instead of right at the top edge.

Talk Like a Pirate Day: The Five A's

396 lennysquiggy  Mon, Sep 17, 2007 1:56:20pm

My initial reaction to this story was confusion. Idiot politicians and their appointees obviously more fearful of the muslim response to the truth than the reaction of real Americans who weren't told the truth. BUT... O'Reilly didn't want to give the media the perfect tie-in story for the 'events of Sept 11' story they were going to cover. Face it, TV producers are lazy and they love that crap - a ready made tie-in. He withheld that from them. That was my initial reaction...

However, this story was KNOWN before 9/11. Any TV producer who wasn't lazy (there aren't many/any) could have visited Zorkot's website and broken this story for themselves. More than a week later, I'm wondering why the media isn't outraged - the GOVERMENT WITHHELD a BIG STORY because they expected the MEDIA to act against the BEST INTERESTS of the UNITED STATES. If you sprinkled the words "Bush," "Iraq," and "Patriot Act" into that last sentence, the left would have a collective aneurysm trying to cover all angles of this story.

Summation: the left is dumb, their media is lazy and O'Reilly is a dhimmi who gives far more credit to his media than it deserves.

It is long but it does document several things:

-Iran and al Qaeda have worked together since the early 90s

-Iran's involvement in terrorism is unmatched by any country

-Iran has been directly involved in any number of acts of war against the US.

the article also lays out some very interesting evidence that may link al Qaeda's 911 team to Iran's arch terror master Imad Mugnieyeh. The author concludes that the case is not open and shut but it disproves the thinking of former Clinton National Security team members who claim no connection at all and makes the case for further digging on the subject.

Texas/Minnesota Companies Helping Terrorists

At least three U.S. companies continue to do business with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorist organization. The PIJ is a violent offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood and shares the same longer terms goals as al Qaeda. The shorter term goal of PIJ is the destruction of the state of Israel and the establishment of sharia (Islamic) law. The PIJ is known to intentionally target and kill civilians, including Israeli children.

re: #388 song_and_dance_man

Charles,

I need your help. I'm at this moment researching for the LGF dictionary and need clarification on a post of yours from 2002. You posted this here.

Please remember, folks, that our little raving moonbat here posted a link to a vile hate site in another topic.
If you can recall what did you believe a moonbat was at that time?

It will help squash a claim by Bill at INDC Journal that he originated the term. BTW your use of the term precedes Bill's by almost two years.

But what about Perry at Samizdata? Everyone, including Charles and us, says he originated it:

moonbat - An unthinking or insane leftist — in other words, most modern leftists. Moonbat can also be used as an adjective, e.g. a moonbat professor. According to the Wikipedia entry for moonbat, the word was coined in 2002 by the Editor of Samizdata, Perry de Havilland, and was a variation on the name of radical British activist and columnist George Monbiot. Originally, the term “moonbat” was intended to be more politically neutral, and described wackos on the left and the right, but it quickly acquired its current usage of being applied almost exclusively to those on the left. The term also references the moon much in the same way that “lunatic” refers to the insanity-causing powers of the full moon (luna = moon). LGFers occasionally analyze the behavior patterns of various moonbat “species” as if they were actual animals, and even give them satirical Linnaean taxonomical names, such as moonbattus berkeleyensis. According to Charles: “Moonbat was originally coined by Perry at Samizdata, I believe. But LGF probably played a much bigger part in popularizing it.” The entry in the Samizdata glossary indicates that Perry originally coined the full phrase “barking moonbat”; apparently “moonbat” is just a subsequent shortened version of “barking moonbat,” rather than being a pre-existing term that was lengthened to barking moonbat.

Didn't the Navy try a polyester blend suit for their NCOs back in the 70s or early 80s that had a tendency to melt or burn in certain areas of the ship? I seem to recall something along those lines but can't quite get the little grey cells to cooperate.

This is win you are sure you are on the right side if you're conservative, or even moderate...

[Link: [Link: www.tmz.com...]...]

And if you really want a thrill, leave a neocon type comment. Every moonbat in La La land comes out of the woodwork.

These entertainment personalities all assume since people listen or watch their productions then what they have to say must be just as important, even if they haven't a clue.
More disturbing is the average viewer or listener that thinks because a person is a great singer, actor, basketball player, director, etc then they automatically must be experts on the Middle East, or foreign policy, economics, or our own morals. However; some of us look at them as mere court jesters, albeit highly paid court jesters.

"Entertain me performer!"

There are enough folks out there commenting, though, who know the difference:

31. How come you never hear about a person from the Right refusing to go on a show or speak to someone with opposite views but you always hear about people from the Left refusing to talk with certin people because they don't think like them. Hey Lefties, this is America, we are allowed to have different views can't you debate your thoughts in a reasonable manner. By refusing to speak to someone you give the impression that you know your view is flawed in some manner.

38. Typical liberal. They are the first one's to cry about their first ammendemnt rights, except when it comes to a conservative having an opinion that differs from theirs. There are three other liberals on the show, can't he handle one little conservative? What a puss!

And my personal fave:

36. damn hippies

More seriously, this suggests an age issue -- who under the age of about 45 even remembers Barely Manenough? Who under the age of 50 has actually bought any of his albums? I associate his music with frumpy female relations from the depths of the Carter years, people who weren't hip enough for the Carpenters. But perhaps that's just personal experience.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck might not be a rocket scientist, but to accept as gospel the political views of the numbskull who wrote "Copacabana"?

Although these crimes are sometimes simply a crime, more and more they are Islamic related. Given the incident in Dearborne, it makes me wonder just how many have occurred that have not been reported as such. We have frequently seen cases when the suspects names are not disclosed for this very reason and have seen it reported in other places simply as "youths" or "west-Asian immigrants".

On a related note I've noticed that many papers will omit the party affiliation of the offending politician if it is a Democrat, but highlight it if it is a Republican. If he is a conservative-that in particular is noted. I can count on one hand (giving the benefit of a doubt here) the number of times I have seen a politician referred to as, for example; "the liberal Democrat Senator from Massachusetts".

This is merely another case of the media moguls attempting to influence public opinion through the use of clever writing and omissions. For our own good though you understand.

So yes, sometimes a crime is just a crime. And sometimes, even a "mere" crime is just a teensy bit more.

Meanwhile, (just west of Dearborn in Ann Arbor), "racist" 9/11 memorial is "offensive";

Remembering shouldn't mean living in fear

On the Diag last Tuesday, the sign by the flags memorializing the victims of Sept. 11 displayed one simple message: "Never forget." Nearby were depicted various "terrorist" acts leading up to Sept. 11. While challenging these words is sometimes viewed as unpatriotic, this simple phrase, "Never forget" has always struck me as cliche', unnecessary and offensive...
===
Whether the creators of the poster were deliberately racist or merely careless is debatable, but the poster is fear-inducing propaganda. This fear stifles dissent, discourages debate and paralyzes the decision-making process of our nation. It is cruelly ironic that those who urge us never to forget have themselves forgotten that this is what the terrorists wanted in the first place.

So what would have happened if the guy had been a redneck from Alabama, caught carrying an AK47 in a crowded public park? Think it might have gotten a little attention? But because of his name, religion and - oh yeah, his utter scariness - we just pretend it never happened. Damned anti-Muslim discrimination rears its ugly head again - if he'd been anyone else, he would have gotten his name in the papers, but NOOO, Muslims don't get the fame and fortune that Christian criminals get. So unfair.

OR what if he'd been some idiot that believes all rednecks come from Alabama.?

Remembering shouldn't mean living in fear

On the Diag last Tuesday, the sign by the flags memorializing the victims of Sept. 11 displayed one simple message: "Never forget." Nearby were depicted various "terrorist" acts leading up to Sept. 11. While challenging these words is sometimes viewed as unpatriotic, this simple phrase, "Never forget" has always struck me as cliche', unnecessary and offensive...
===

This naive poster is wrong on so many levels it is hard to believe he is an engineering student.
"...deliberately racist or merely careless is debatable, but the poster is fear-inducing propaganda...". Racist? Which race? Fear inducing propaganda is half correct. It should induce fear. Thousands of people died in the events depicted on that poster. "...". I'm not sure how the poster does this or how this young engineering student figures that the events depicted on the poster stifle any dissent, how it can discourage debate, much less paralyze the decision-making process of our nation.
In case this future rocket scientist hasn't figured it out, his letter, other letters and our responses have done exactly what he said the poster in question denied us the ability to do. To wit: stifles dissent, discourages debate and paralyzes the decision-making process of our nation.
Our budding engineer probably needs to take an English class and see just what "cruelly ironic" means. No, the terrorists purpose is not for us not to forget or forget either one; it is to terrorize the populace in order to better achieve their goals. A remembering populace is a wary and alert populace. This young man is neither.
As my grandfather would say, "this young man is obviously educated beyond his intelligence."

In some areas of Texas, just showing up in a park with an AK-47 in your hands will get you drilled.

I am from Alabama, I am NOT a Red Neck (correct spelling please), and I DO NOT own an AK47. But I do own several interesting weapons, but that's between me and the people that need to know. Let's just say that when the [bigoted word]s come over the hill they will get a warm reception.
P.S I have had a concealed carry permit since 1968. Never drew my gun, never shot anyone, and never menaced anyone. I have killed several beer cans and targets over the years though.

By deliberately withholding this information -- that is, by covering up the truth -- Dearborn officials are guilty of lying. As a result of fooling the public, when they speak in the future they will not be believed, and there will also be suspicions in the future that there are things happening in Dearborn involving arrests that may be linked to jihad that officials there are not telling the public about.

It may be worthwhile for there to be an independent news-gathering and news-spreading network of bloggers operating out of Dearborn and vicinity to cover the news that Dearborn officials are hiding.

511 lookingup  Mon, Sep 17, 2007 5:27:57pm

don't know if it was mentioned but a few years ago a muslim shot up some people pulling into the CIA gate. I think he killed a woman.
Everytime an AK47 is used the left wants to take my guns. If this keeps up like I think it will ---the more there are of them the bolder they get-- the people that had nothing to do with it will be disarmed. For the children and our safety.

re: #492 OLDPUPPYMAX

Any questions about how Dearborn has become Arab central in Michigan? That this sort of ludicrous behavior on the part of city officials occurs is the fault of the people of Dearborn. Petitions should be carried throughout the area, demanding the recall of any govt. official who knew of this wacko. It's because we sit back and glumly accept this sort of dangerous political correctness that it continues to occur.

Unfortunately, most Dearborn residents would salute the actions of this official. Local government in this case means sharia-friendly government. This is a taste of the future. Unless immigration is clamped down on, since the old paradigm of assimilation doesn't work, we'll see critical masses of Muslims overtly sympathetic too or just too afraid or apathetic settling in and leading non-Muslims to act in craven, confused ways. I would be interested in polls of Muslims and non-Muslims in Dearborn: Do you think that limited sharia should be imposed on Dearborn? If yes, is it because you are afraid of the reaction of your neighbors?

Sharia will come to the West in small local chunks as Muslims form majorities or threatening large minorities in local communities.

The Bottom Line for Mayor O'Reilly:

Didn't want to hack off the local Islamists. His family lives there. The tiny minority of murderous jihadists already know or can easily find his address. So- bury the story & hope it stays dead. If it doesn't, at least the cutthroats know he tried, so maybe won't come after him/them, this time.

Greetings from the West side of Dearborn. Born in Detroit, and resident of Dearborn for many years. Lots of interesting comments about this city. Where do I start. OK the article mentions Hemlock park. This park is a couple of blocks away from Fordson High School which has an estimated 90% Arab student population. I am very familiar with this area. As a young teen my friends and I would ride our bikes down the rather large hill at that park. Or go to the Carmen movie theater around the corner (which no longer exists). Yes the neighborhood demographics have changed. Do I think it is a dangerous area? Not at all really. I have seen Dearborn police patrol the area extensively over the years. I do believe the Dearborn cops do a remarkable job keeping the city "clean" as the late Orville Hubbard liked to say. As for the current mayor of Dearborn, well I think he put political correctness ahead of citizen safety. I am sure he will be reminded of this mistake by Dearborn citizens for a long time to come. For sure something like this never happened during the term of the late Michael Guido (former mayor of Dearborn, just prior to O'Reilly). As to the comment #8 that Dearborn is "full of armed Arabic men", I think that statement is a bit over the top. Do some of them have guns. Sure. Are they doing daily "drive bys"? Not so much. My fav comment is number 29. It needs no clarification. Comment #50 is spot on. I tip my hat to Ghstryder and comment 59, all I can say is let's pray our elected officials experience an epiphany soon.

>You were probably correct the first time and should have added an "s" to murderer given the second sentence when you said, "they went to jail".

Yes, but it was complicated in that one person shot Kahane and went to jail for weapons possession instead of murder and terrorism, and it later turned out he was part of the Al Qaeda cell that plotted the 93 WTC bombing and other plots.

Grammar and spelling got beat up by the complexities of it all.

532 korla pundit  Tue, Sep 18, 2007 9:19:48am

Here's another: Robert F. Kennedy's assassination will never be recorded as an early instance of jihad, but there is a lot to back up that angle. Also, Arafat ordered the taking and killing of hostages (Americans, btw), in a bid to get Sirhan released. I think that speaks volumes of the assassin's background and motives.

Oh, and let's not forget the guy who shot the Pope. That was also a jihadi, but they will never call him that. Sharing the facts with the public might get all us white, male, neocon, capitalist Christians all riled up in one of our riots against random muslims, in a manner reminiscent of Genghis Khan. You know: the way we lose our crap when a frickin cartoon is published.

Oh, sorry. I'm confusing us with them.
