Saturday Morning Technical Open

We’re starting off with an open thread this morning, while I try to find out what’s causing a weird, frustrating bug in Internet Explorer. I thought I had fixed it, but apparently not; I received several emails this morning complaining about it again.

The bug happens when the page is loading; you see the masthead load, then IE puts up one of its typically unhelpful error messages (something like ‘unable to load this web page’… duh) and goes to the typically unhelpful server error page. If you then reload the page, it loads fine.

It’s frustrating because I can’t repeat the bug every time. I have seen it on my development machine, so I know it’s real, but the last time I was able to get it to happen was Thursday evening. If any LGF readers hit on a way to make it happen every time you load LGF in Internet Explorer, please let me know.

People make a lot of fuss about my kids having such supposedly 'strange names', but the fact is that no matter what first names I might have given them, it is the last name that is going to get them in trouble. -- From the Real Frank Zappa Book - Mr. Dad chapter
