And now for some GOOD news.
I had the angiogram today; the cardiologist found no significant blockages. So he said I'm a lucky man. He want to work with me to develop a plan to lose the weight I've carried for all these years.
Truly, I'm blessed today, what with the soreness of the groin area. Thanks Lizardoids!

the Foo are legit. Grohl is super-legit. It is hard for me to say which I like better: the self-titled debut or The Colour and the Shape. One by One is also good. Either way, Grohl is the engine of a very, very good rock band. Unique sound, unrelenting percussion, masterful riffs...the Foo Fighters bring it, and bring it with authority.

Great song. The bass line in the beginning that comes back in the chorus is the hook. And Grohl can sing/scream like that live which is amazing. Screaming is hard on singers. Most can get up for it in the studio but have to tone it down for the road show or they'll turn into a Brian Johnson sounding frog. Grohl is a world class screamer. Ian Gillan being the world record holder though. I thought that dude's screaming was going to cause the roof of Cobo to resonate and cave in on us.

My father in law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a month ago and they removed the whole thing. He's waiting for chemo and radiation but was well enough to drive 20 miles to watch my kid, his grandson play 8th grade football Wednesday night. Kid had some nice open field tackles and a pick-off and a long reception on offense and peepaw was one proud grandpa. That peepaw and meemaw thing is from my wife's side, not mine. Geeze. What can I say, I married an Ohio girl. Ha.

Don't sell yourself short. Literally, don't skimp on investments in your health. Some of my acquaintances may think I'm crazy because I own and operate a blender that costs more than a Kennedy-reunion bar tab. But for some strange reason they consistently seem to have more adipose tissue than do I, and I only see them at the gym for short slices of time just after New Years. Just don't go hog wild; a 1500 watt blender can just as easily accommodate a virgin snickers bar with its tear hither wrapper as it can a fresh orange.

Charles,

Tell your mom about my dad.... at age 77 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He went through chemotherapy and told me he wished he could have died.....

This past summer, Harvard Medical School called him (he is a retired MD and has participated in numerous drug studies over the past 30-years) and told him that statistically he should have been dead 7 years ago. They told him that he had "beat" the prostate cancer.

On September 3, 2007 he turned 90.

Please tell her... the power of the mind is an amazing thing.

Charles, So sorry to hear about your Mother. My father died about a dozen years ago of bone cancer. It was tough, but at least we had time to prepare for it. He refused treatment. It was his second go arround.

Macker, glad to know the angiogram went OK. We both probably need to shed a few pounds. Work with your doctor and get the plan thats best suited for you. Don't jump into any of the fads. Your weight is programed by your body to cope with feast and famine. Our life styles short circuit that routine, and the body will react to the diet.
I've read that its better to carry a few extra pounds then to be under weight as we age. Best wishes for you.

My sister in law was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2000. She was ion remission until last fall. Mayo did a very radical procedure on her, removing parts of her stomach, liver panchreas, gall bladder and intestine. She has to eat eight to ten times a day, small meals but often.
Her cancer is back but moving very slow. She is in an experimental program now as well.

ELTs get sub commander sh!tcanned by gundecking maintenance.

The commander of the nuclear-powered submarine USS Hampton has been relieved of his command amid an inquiry into misconduct by crew members, the U.S. Navy said Friday.

Cmdr. Michael B. Portland lost his post "due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command," the Navy said in a statement. Cmdr. William J. Houston will replace Portland.

The crew neither maintained inspection records nor conducted the required inspection of chemical levels associated with the cooling system of the ship's nuclear reactor, Navy officials said. The crew then went back and falsified existing records to make it appear the work had been done.

"There is not, and never was, any danger to the crew or the public," the Navy said.

Portland's demotion brings to 10 the number of people relieved of duty on the submarine in the wake of the misconduct probe.

Six personnel have been punished for forging inspection records for the cooling system, the Navy officials said Monday. Those six -- one officer and five enlisted personnel -- received a "nonjudicial punishment" after other Navy personnel discovered their actions, the officials said.

The Navy said Friday that one officer and two enlisted crew members have been temporarily reassigned to Submarine Squadron 11. Portland also will be temporarily reassigned to that squadron.

The misconduct was discovered September 17 but not made public until after completion of an initial inquiry.

A fact-finding investigation is under way, and further action against Navy crew members is possible, a Navy official said.

The Hampton remains in port in San Diego, California. In all, the $900 million vessel's crew includes 13 officers and 116 enlisted personnel.

FLLegal on previous thread notes racist Mexican group MeCha started some of the SoCal wildfires as a terrorist act against the gringo occupiers of California.

That is huge, and the irony of their evil is notable, as at least four illegal aliens trying to enter the US from Mexico apparently died in the fires.

Charles,
I'm not much of a praying man myself, but when it comes to family I can't help it. I've been through it myself a few times. My thoughts and prayers are with your mother.
