Google Video Removes Robert Spencer Speech

Wed, Oct 31, 2007 at 12:28:00 pm PDT

The left-wing, jihad-friendly bias of Google becomes more clear nearly every day; they have now removed the video of Robert Spencer’s talk at Dartmouth, with the following excuse:

As set forth in the Terms & Conditions, Google Video is not required to host or display uploaded content. Google Video may refuse to host content that violates its policies, including:
illegal content
invasions of personal privacy
pornography or obscenity
hate or incitement of violence
graphic violence or other acts resulting in serious injury or death
violations of copyright. Please see our DMCA policy for more information.
Please note that we also reserve the right to not show mature content to users with their safesearch activated. This includes content that would typically not be shown to users under 18 years of age.

We may change these policies at any time without notice.

I watched the video, and there was absolutely nothing in it that violated these terms of service. It was a calm, well-reasoned speech that contained nothing hateful, no incitement to violence, no invasion of privacy, no pornography or obscenity, and certainly no violation of copyright.

Shame on Google. Meanwhile, on their YouTube video network, violence-inciting jihad videos, antisemitic white power creeps, 9/11 Troofers, and radical Islamic hate speech are all over the place.

Well the obvious solution to this is too find a more Conservative-friendly place to post Robert's videos and just bypass the progressively-propagandized Google, in much the same way conservative talk radio bypassed the liberally-biased TV Media.

Not that I wouldn't take 1000 shares if you gave them to me. I'd just sell them as quickly as I could. Take the money and run.

The company is totally overvalued. The problem is that their high stock price discourages derivatives trading on the equity. In other words, I'd love to pick up some 2-year LEAP put-options but they cost more than some stocks.

The internet has such power and influence that it is the obvious target and vehicle of the brain-washing left. They can control it in manners that we don't even know about, in addition to the obvious bias against conservatism. The Mormons have a scripture that tells it all if you extrapolate it beyond eating and drinking code it was written about:

In consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days . . . (D&C 89:4)

re: #44 ronaldusmagnus

Hmmmm?

For Google, I see it as a matter of greed mixed with ideology. They wanted to go into China and get in on the 1.2 billion people there, so they allowed communist censorship. Since that type of censorship probably actually does fall into line with their own ideology, it was no real problem. In the US, they are big enough that they see no downside to censoring conservatives, so they fall in line with their ideology without worrying about economic impact.

Fear? What would they be afraid of?

Apparently "incitement to violence" in Googlespeak means you're not allowed to say anything that will make others violent against you. Spencer obviously wasn't (and, as far as I'm aware, never has) calling on people to simply destroy Muslims out of hand. The only possible result of his speech would be Muslim violence against him. Of course, since we always give Muslims a pass on their violent reaction to anything they don't like for any reason whatsoever, we have to punish Spencer. Nice First Amendment we had there once.

Google,

Combine the untempered, idealistic world view of a couple of young college students with the combined corrupting powers of super-wealth and information dominance and you have an immediate recipe for impulsive, totalitarian excess.

Google is the single most dangerous nongovernmental entity in existence in terms of threatening liberty and open, democratic society.

Even of you willfully ignore the evidence that they are actively playing politics in their content choices, you cannot ignore the potential for evil that rests at the intersection of idealism and power.

[Link: www.dogpile.com...]

If you had a choice between a single-person search party, or a search team of half-a-dozen, which would you choose? Yep, us too. Why not put six search engines to work on something in the same time it takes to use one? This is what we call metasearch. Dogpile puts the power all the leading search engines together in one search box to deliver the best combined results. The process is more efficient and yields more relevant results.

Miss Beatrice, the church organist, was in her eighties and had never been married. She was admired for her sweetness and kindness to all.

One afternoon the pastor came to call on her and she showed him into her quaint sitting room. She invited him to have a seat while she prepared tea.

As he sat facing her old Hammond organ, the young minister noticed a cut-glass bowl sitting on top of it. The bowl was filled with water, and in the water floated, of all things, a condom...

When she returned with tea and scones, they began to chat.

The pastor tried to stifle his curiosity about the bowl of water and its strange floater, but soon it got the better of him and he could no longer resist.

"Miss Beatrice", he said, "I wonder if you would tell me about this?" pointing to the bowl.

"Oh, yes," she replied, "Isn't it wonderful? I was walking through the park a few months ago and I found this little package on the ground. The directions said to place it on the organ, keep it wet and that it would prevent the spread of disease.

Do you know I haven't had the flu all winter?

Back when it first came out, was the Google Web Accelerator discussed here? On a basic level (which is all that I understand), when you go to a web page that has links to it, a web accelerator will open some of all of them in the background on your computer, so if you do choose to open them the speed will be greatly increased. This has a couple implications - first, overall bandwidth use will increase a great deal (if every time you open a web page it opens 10 links in the background...). Another implication is that all pages are opened through your google web accelerator. In all practicality, you are now doing all your web browsing through a google portal - in theory, they could control what you can or can not open.

The truth is that google offers a quality product - it's too bad their execs have their heads up in the clouds.

It appears that Eric Schmidt the CEO of Google is an anti-war bleeding heart liberal.

Schmidt’s political views were deeply affected by the Vietnam War. In an interview with the Computerworld Honors Oral History Project in 2000, Schmidt said that he saw the government as something “that is going to take you to a war that is illegal and kill you.” Despite his years in tech-exec positions, he never shed this view, which helped land him at Google. The founders said they saw in Schmidt both a kindred spirit with an antiestablishment past and a clearheaded businessman with the acumen and discipline to lead the company from scrappy startup to profitable global entity.

That could explain some of googles kooky decisions.

ahh well I didn't know dogpile also searched google.

big grrrrrrrrr.

Well hold on a moment here. I don't understand the system well enough to know the anwer, but I can see where something like dogpile might deprive google of revenue while still mining their search engine for data. After all, when you use dogpile you don't actually see the google search page or the ads they might put in front of you. Also it's possible that the links that are clicked from a dogpile search might not count as referrals from google. I'm hoping someone who understands how this works can enlighten us about whether or not we really deprive google of revenue by using dogpile.

I'm about to kill these guys at work. Been working on a project for months now and one Dept you have to go thru for approval and testing has been nothing but trouble. I got original versions we used as proof of concept working in a few days, with notes on the troubleshooting I had to go thru. These assholes took 6+ months to "fully test and certify" the stuff for our network, not looking as any of the data I gave them and the fucking thing doesn't work if you follow their instructions. I'm basically having to rework the whole thing from the ground up, under the guise of "performance testing", other wise we loose funding for the project and dont get the tool set we need to do our job.

AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

/end of rant, sorry needed to vent

I feel your pain, installing a new tester, high 6 figure equipment, high 5's for installation. It requires it's own cooling system. City inspector comes out and says it requires a UL sticker. Contractor says UL sticker takes 6 months.

We've spent 20 mil in R&D on the product line that goes on this tester, schedule is for testing to start in two weeks.

AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

Actually, from what I understand. Some of them are very compentent attorneys and are very strong in first and fifth amendment issues.

Maybe God will be impressed with that.

Maybe not.
