The Egyptian Physician vs. the Libyan Wacko

Sat, Nov 3, 2007 at 9:51:29 pm PDT

Wacky Gadafi has gotten himself on the wrong side of Al Qaeda; Ayman al-Zawahiri called him “an enemy of Islam” today.

CAIRO, Egypt - Al-Qaida’s No. 2 figure harshly criticized Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi in a new audio tape Saturday, accusing him of being an enemy of Islam and threatening a wave of attacks against the North African country because it improved relations with the U.S.

In the 28-minute audio tape called “Unity of the Ranks,” Ayman al-Zawahri also announced that the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group was joining ranks with al-Qaida.

“The Islamic nation is witnessing a blessed step ... The brothers are escalating the confrontation against the enemies of Islam: Gadhafi and his masters, the Washington crusaders,” al-Zawahri said in the audio tape. The recording could not be independently verified, but it appeared on a Web site commonly used by insurgents and carried the logo of al-Qaida’s media production house, as-Sahab.

The recording also carried a message from Abu Laith al-Libi, a Libyan al-Qaida commander in Afghanistan who accused Gadhafi of decades of tyranny. “He is the tyranny of Libya and is dragging the country to the swamp,” al-Libi said in the recording that also featured old video footage of him walking with other masked gunmen.

“After long years, he (Gadhafi) discovered suddenly that America is not an enemy ... and is turning Libya into another crusader base,” said al-Libi, who has appeared in several recent al-Qaida videos.

Ghaddafi is not the new 'messiah' for the middle east. He's just a psychopathic dictator who just doesnt believe that the SA authorities are anything more than goofballs and psychopaths.

Methinks he's right. Al-Zawahiri proves it to a point.

re: #7 Daddyquatro

Does anyone know how to really spell his name?

From that font of universal knowledge, Wikipedia:

Due to the inherent difficulties of transliterating written and regionally-pronounced Arabic, Gaddafi's name can be transliterated in many different ways. An article published in the London Evening Standard in 2004 lists a total of 37 spellings; a 1986 column by The Straight Dope quotes a list of 32 spellings known at the Library of Congress. Muammar al-Gaddafi, used in this article, is the spelling used by Time magazine and the BBC. The Associated Press, CNN, and Fox News use the spelling Moammar Gadhafi, Al-Jazeera uses Muammar al-Qadhafi, the Edinburgh Middle East Report uses Mu'ammar Qaddafi and the U.S. Department of State uses Mu'ammar Al-Qadhafi. In 1986, Gaddafi reportedly responded to a Minnesota school's letter in English using the spelling Moammar El-Gadhafi. Though according to Gaddafi's personal website he prefers the spelling Muammar Gadafi, the domain name gives yet another version: al-Gathafi

re: #34 DesertSage

Doesn't Gaddafi have like a bunch of female bodyguards?

Yes, they're all female, and all hot! Here is a picture.

You gotta hand it to the man. In just a few short decades, he transformed himself from a lunatic terrorist Islamic terrorist dictator with nuclear ambitions into a cool, sunglass-wearing, purple silk kimono-clad, Austin Powers villain of an international party dude. For New Year's Eve 2006, he threw a massive private bash on St. Barth's, complete with a private performance by Enrique Iglesias, and a bevy of drop-dead gorgeous prostitutes that were imported from Libya for the occasion.

I don't know about you, but I'll totally take the hot bodyguards and the New Year's party in St. Barth's over sitting in the desert by myself and screaming about killing everyone to my pet goat. Sure, all the partying tends to piss off Al Qaeda, but on the other hand, hysterical ranting about massacring infidels and what not really decreases the A-list celeb attendance at one's parties.

You have to admire Gadhafi for three things: His taste in bodyguards, his ability to repeatedly fall into a pile of s**t and still survive (anyone less adept at triangulation would have been assassinated years ago -- just look what happened to Sadat for an example), and his taste in enemies.

Then, too, Al-Q has lately shown a positive genius, if you can call it that, for pissing off the wrong people. Zarqawi had better start hoping that the US military catches him -- he will have ample cause to regret being captured alive by anyone else in the region.

Interesting. Hadn't thought of that. So now they're causing trouble in Iraq, they've got the Israel/Gaza/Palestine/Syria thing, and they're infiltrating governments and societies everywhere else.

I, for one, am scared to death! Especially with the 2008 election coming up, and the thought that the Dems might very well be in charge of all this for four years ! ! !

Bin Laden better watch it. You shouldn't pick a fight with someone who's ruthless enough to blow up a disco.

The recording also carried a message from Abu Laith al-Libi, a Libyan al-Qaida commander in Afghanistan who accused Gadhafi of decades of tyranny. “He is the tyranny of Libya and is dragging the country to the swamp,”

...as compared to that pristine civilization in Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, "Palestine," etc.

Zawahiri has been living in a cave for a few years now surrounded by drooling half-wit jihadis who are so stupid they can hardly figure out how to use the camcorder and meanwhile Gadhafi is living large wearing Merlin the Magician costumes every day surrounded by a grrrl squad that looks like they sang backup for Prince. He didn't have to blow himself up to get the 72 virgins. Thats what pisses off Zawahiri.

“The Islamic nation is witnessing a blessed step ... The brothers are escalating the confrontation against the enemies of Islam: Gadhafi and his masters, the Washington crusaders,”

Listen to that rhetoric. No wonder left-wingers are in bed with these freaks. Substitute a few words - and it's the same self-indulgent garbage they spew day in and day out.

UN Security Council leader "vanishes" from Darfur quagmire;

Libya’s Gadhafi squanders diplomatic opportunity

On his biggest stage in years — launching new peace talks for Sudan’s Darfur region in his home city of Sirte, Libya — Gadhafi delivered a meandering and often insulting monologue, declaring the negotiations a lost cause and assailing Western countries for meddling in African affairs.

I always say: Leave these problems to their own people,” Gadhafi said. He later added: “I feel this conference of ours should stop at this point.”

After the speech, he vanished, leaving the work of solving one of the world’s deadliest and most intractable conflicts to the U.N. and African envoys he had just criticized.

The diplomatic effort has indeed stalled, crippled less by the former revolutionary’s dismissive rhetoric than by the decision of key rebel leaders to boycott the talks. But the entire episode left Darfur rebels scratching their heads, diplomats muttering “no comment” and one message above all: Gadhafi isn’t ready for prime time.

It was about the most astonishing statement I’ve ever heard a head of state make,” a veteran Western observer said.

Never look for intelligence or reason from a person who beats their head into the ground so often that they disfigure their skull. It can't be good for the melon, even a Doctor's.

re: #5 Opilio

The enemy of my enemy is... still my enemy.

The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend.
In some cases, they are our friend, England. Sometimes they are a useful tool, Saudi Arabia. Sometimes they are still the enemy, Iran. I'm using Iraq as a focal point here.
Where we need to be careful is in ensuring that useful tools like the Saudis don't turn out to be enemies waiting for the opportunity to back stab us. Considering that the House of Saud is muslime, we need to be double extra careful.
When it comes to nations with an ideology underflowing all life, as Islam does, we should never regard them as friends. To a muslime, its OK to back stab an infidel. Frankly, the Sunni regard Shi'a as infidels and vice versa. We need to remember that none of them are our friend, only useful tools if used with care.
