Sneaky Comment Trick Now Disabled

Sun, Nov 25, 2007 at 9:20:46 am PST

To start off this Sunday, I’ve now disabled the Sneaky Comment Trick Proof of Concept, so that any deleted comments will now appear as “deleted” to everyone, including those who posted them.

It’s a fun trick to play with, and I’ve saved the code that does it, but it’s thoroughly evil. We’ll leave this trick to the loony left.

  • Comments are open and unmoderated, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Little Green Footballs.
  • Obscene, abusive, silly, or annoying remarks may be deleted, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their views by Little Green Footballs.
  • Posts that contain phone numbers, street addresses, email addresses or other personal information will also be deleted, as will posts that consist only of a variation on the word, "First!"
  • Comments that advocate violence will be cause for immediate banning with no appeal.
  • REMEMBER: posting comments at LGF is a privilege, not a right. Abuse that privilege, and your account will be blocked.

Did I miss any great developments on the "delete test" thread? I could only handle the first 100 comments or so. Takes a long time to click on the footballs to see who Charles was deleting.

Now if we could just delete all the dead Democrat voters, illegal aliens and convicted felons from the voter registration rolls and they would stay deleted.

Strong earthquakes shook western and eastern Indonesia on Sunday, sending panicked residents fleeing from their homes. One of the tremors shook telephone and electricity poles and forced the evacuation of a hospital.

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck waters off Sumatra island early Sunday and was followed 13 hours later by a quake with a preliminary strength of 6.7 on Sumbawa island, to the west, the US Geological Survey said.

Syria wants Golan Heights on talks agenda

By Carolynne Wheeler in Jerusalem
Last Updated: 1:57am GMT 25/11/2007
America has given tacit approval to separate peace talks between Israel and Syria immediately after Tuesday's landmark Middle East summit in Annapolis, Maryland.

Diplomats believe that Syria's expected participation in the meeting to be chaired by Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State, signals a likely resumption of direct talks between the country's Ba'athist regime and the Israeli government, for the first time in more than a decade.

Syria had insisted that the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, seized from its control in the 1967 war, be on the table for discussion as a precondition for taking part in the summit.

I don't have to click on the footballs, I just hover- you can look at the bottom of the page, and it shows the link addy you're hovering over. For instance, it says- open: http : // littlegreenfootballs etc., etc., then the name of the user whose football you're hovering over will show in the address also.

That's really convoluted, sorry. But I don't know all the proper terminology to make it easy to understand. :p

Syrian gov't blocks use of Facebook

Authorities in Syria have blocked users of the social network Web site Facebook as part of a crackdown on political activism on the Internet, Reuters reported Friday.

"Facebook helped further civil society in Syria and form civic groups outside government control. This is why it has been banned," women's rights advocate Dania al-Sharif told Reuters.

"They cut off communications between us and the outside world. We are used to this behavior from our government," said Mais al-Sharbaji, who set up a Facebook group for amateur Syrian photographers.

The Syrian government was silent following its decision, while over the past few months it has intensified a campaign against bloggers, virtual opinion forums and independent media sites.

...

Head of the National Association for Human Rights, Ammar al-Qurabi, said little independent political content published by Syrians on the Internet is now tolerated.

"We have asked officials and they said Facebook could become a conduit for Israeli penetration of our youth, but the real reason for blocking the forum is because it provides for criticism of the authorities," Qurabi said.

There is now an 'Internet political crimes' ward at one prison. Internet cafes have been required to limit their communications services," said Qurabi.

According to the report, even Microsoft Hotmail is regularly blocked. There is no access to scores of newspapers on the Web, such as the Lebanese daily an-Nahar and al-Quds al-Arabi, which is published in London by veteran Palestinian journalist Abdel-Bari Atwan.

Uh, Charles? I'm repeating my question earlier - you weren't deleting comments on the Dead Thread ("Link Dump") were ya?
I mean I posted a carefully researched and extremely well written (if I do say so myself) analysis of the shadowy connection between the Fascists in Europe and the Islamofascism. It was fascinating reading.
LOL!

this is part of the amateurish 5gw bag of tricks that folks like the 910group groupies, later the vigilantfreedom freaks, are so in love with. I had a long long argument with these people about the importance of maintaining ethical and moral standards in all anti-jihad activities. This was back when I actually wrote their group blog ([Link: the910group.blogspot.com...] and before they booted me out for apparently having the wrong ideas. I had no idea about any White Europe connections directly, but I did have to battle a near constant obsession with the evils of multi-culturalism, which I did realize was coming from some dark and paranoid impulses on their part.

So now it appears they're showing their true colors. Still the Gates of Vienna blog ([Link: gatesofvienna.blogspot.com...] which is authored under the pseudonym of Baron Bodissey and is a champion of both the vigilantfreedom group and of Fjordman, gets occasional syndication at PJM. I don't know how that can be tolerated.

Fjordman claims the charges of racism have been answered ([Link: gatesofvienna.blogspot.com...] Either they have, or Gates of Vienna should no longer appear on PJM.
