 RetweetAntiwar Liars on Parade

Thu, Mar 13, 2008 at 9:28:19 am PDT

The evil, lying scumbags (and I use that term advisedly) who call themselves Iraq Veterans Against the War are firing up their rerun of the “Winter Soldiers” propaganda show today, and one of America’s most disgraceful posturing politicians is reiterating his own lies about the men he served with in Vietnam: Sen. John Kerry confronted about Winter Soldier II.

JammieWearingFool has more on this disgusting display of dishonest anti-Americanism.

Vets for Freedom looks at the phony claims of these antiwar veterans, some of whom are outright phonies themselves.

The media will be falling all over themselves to promote these snake oil salesmen, of course, so we have that to look forward to.

Jammie, good report, as always.

11 Diamond Bullet  Thu, Mar 13, 2008 9:35:13am

Ahh, there's nothing more rock-solid than reports of atrocities by U.S. troops, as conveyed by John Kerry's best friend's sister's uncle's nephew's third cousin's bowling buddy, and offered into Congressional testimony with the tiny follow-up fig leaf caveat that the truth of said tales should really be verified with the original source. Whoever that is.

"The Media" (sat TV) charged me over $900 just to access their propaganda bureaus last year. They just had another price increase this month.

Veterans are the best people I know. I'm honored to have been presented a VFW medal during ROTC in college, which is a treasure. I contributed to the Swift Boat Vets' fund in 2004 and would do it again.

People like John Kerry (and this new group appears to be chock full of people like him) disgust me in a huge way.

But the MSM disgusts me even more, because without the MSM's compliance - even glee - these idiots would be barely noticed.

19 psaturn  Thu, Mar 13, 2008 9:38:21am

I noticed the Iraq Veterans Against the War website is very well put together and looks 'expensive' in terms how the site is put together and designed.

I wonder if George Soros has contributed to it?

20 tfc3rid  Thu, Mar 13, 2008 9:38:22am

The difference this time is that we actually have fact checkers that aren't tied to the MSM... We know these people have agendas... We know they are destructive...

They are traitors, pure and simple.

21 doppelganglander  Thu, Mar 13, 2008 9:38:26am

By the time you weed out the phony soldiers who never really served, or were never in Iraq, and the ones who were there whose stories are verifiably untrue or impossible to prove, will there be anyone left?

From the Vets For Freedom link, talking about Jesse MacBeth:

The more perceptive, or at least conscious, among you would easily note that his beret is going the wrong way, his T-shirt is the wrong color, and his sleeves are rolled the wrong way. The fact that he appears to be a “soup sandwich on a stick in the rain” might also occur to you.

HAHA love these guys.

And then there's this, further down the page:

IVAW’s founders aren’t immune to “Truth Deficit Disorder” either. Yesterday I mentioned founder Jimmy Massey. I’ve been told that Massey will not be at the WSII hearings and that he now resides in Venezuela where his recent book was published. (His first was published in France.)

They go on to document the lies he told and their subsequent demolishing. Yet you will not hear a word about this guy and his lies when the IVAW is discussed in the MSM.

OT, but important.

Obama's racist preacher is on an Obama Committee!

Jeremiah Wright, in the news today because video of a sermon (parts of which had been reported, and disavowed, before) adds some heat to the discussion of his relationship with Obama, has generally been described as connected to Obama only informally -- a religious figure whom with whom Obama has said he disagrees at times, a kind of cranky uncle.

But he also has a formal role on the campaign.

Wright is a member of Obama's African American Religious Leadership Committee -- the sort of largely honorary, advisory body that in recent days has recently been used mostly to throw people off who say controversial things.

The Obama campaign couldn't immediately say whether he'd remain on the committee.

Counter protest in D.C. this weekend. The following is written by Melanie Morgan.

As recently as a few days ago, Cindy Sheehan, the woman who dishonors her son with lies about his service wrote this:

..Iraq Vets Against the War is holding a “Winter Soldier” event soon, and they will recount stories of how they participated in war crimes or witnessed war crimes, which is not in dispute because the entire invasion and occupation is a war crime. These young people came home alive and many of them will have to deal with their demons forever as my Vietnam veteran friends still do, but we families of soldiers who were killed will also be haunted by things we know and things we will never know or never know for sure. The stories of military neglect, abuse (sexual, physical, mental, emotional) or lies are almost as many as there are troops: living or dead...

The world according to Cindy says that our troops are participating in war crimes and atrocities, just like the Vietnam Veterans did..and the stories of abuse are continuing today.

Cindy, STOP LYING ABOUT OUR TROOPS.

WE WON'T STAND FOR IT.

This YouTube video explains it all.

Come with us to Washington to stand against the liars of the left, and their enablers.

Go to [Link: www.moveamericaforward.com,...] [Link: www.gatheringofeagles.com...] and [Link: www.eaglesup.org...] for details.

Anti-war protesters chant "war criminal" at Rice

Chanting "war criminal," anti-war protesters waved blood-colored hands at U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday, but police held them back as she left a Capitol Hill hearing room.

Earlier, Republicans had complained about the distraction from the group as they held up signs saying "Condi Kills Kids" during the hearing on the State Department budget.

Funding for ivaw

[Link: www.discoverthenetworks.org...]

IVAW identifies its "most important partner" as Veterans for Peace. It also claims to have "very close relationships" with Military Families Speak Out, Gold Star Families for Peace, and Vietnam Veterans Against the War. "With these partners," says IVAW, "we support the Bring Them Home Now! Campaign." Moreover, IVAW is a steering committee member of the United for Peace and Justice anti-war coalition led by Leslie Cagan, a longtime committed socialist who aligns her politics with those of Fidel Castro's Communist Cuba.

[Link: www.frontpagemag.com...]

United For Peace and Justice: This anti-war coalition consists of more than 1,300 local and national groups joined together "to protest the immoral and disastrous Iraq War and oppose our [American] government's policy of permanent warfare and empire-building." The coalition's Unity Statement denounces "the 'pre-emptive' wars of aggression waged by the Bush administration" in its "drive to expand U.S. control over other nations and strip us of our rights at home under the cover of fighting terrorism and spreading democracy." "The world," says UFPJ, "is destined to find itself in a state of perpetual war so long as the United States maintains its bloated nuclear arsenal.” The co-chair and principal leader of UFPJ is Leslie Cagan, a longtime communist who proudly aligns her politics with those of Fidel Castro’s Cuba.

Most of ya'll have beaten me to the punch. If these guys are fake soldiers or in the vein of Scott Beauchamp (were there but never saw the things they claim they saw) then it should be rather easy in this information age to poke holes in their stories. But, it would have to be done before they speak so that the audience knows they're listening to fabrications and not facts. Otherwise, we are always going to be in react mode.

But, do keep in mind a universal truth about all soldiers throughout history. In the words of Shakespeare from Henry V:

Besides, there is no king,
be his cause never so spotless,
can try it out with
all unspotted soldiers.

In other words, there is always going to be a few bad ones in there. There may be the very real problem that these guys might be telling the worst/best kinds of lies - the ones with a little truth mixed in. That's what makes them scary and why these accounts have to be looked at under a microscope.

J. Kerry didn't do enough damage to us with his phony Winter Soldier crap, it appear that we now have a new generation, no doubt egged on by the same slimy traitors, trying to wreak havoc on our troops. At least we have one advantage today, we have the means to openly combat the disingenuous remarks and testimony of these alleged vets. And all this just when many of us Vets were finally able to reconcile our service and the put the whole baby-killer past behind us.

re: #93 buzzsawmonkey

Let's see if I understand this.

1) People lying about where they served, or whether they served at all, who

2) Will then retail stories about "atrocities" which never occurred

3) By demonstrations, by stories run in a compliasant media, and by testimony to Congress.

4) As the cherry on top of this shit sundae, they pervert the meaning of the Tom Paine quote about "summer soldiers"--which refers to those who, like the Iraq Veterans Against the War, quit in the middle of an immediate conflict--and refer to themselves, and their betrayal, as "winter soldiers."

Have I got it right?

You forgot to mention that they do this as a mating ritual. Otherwise, you're substantially correct.

103 realwest  Thu, Mar 13, 2008 10:20:37am

I can't begin to tell y'all how much this disgusts me.
BUT - there is a difference between this Winter Soldiers II and Winter Soldiers I and that difference is: us. The Internet.
This is what, IMO, needs to be done (and in this order):
a) identify the name of the "vet" who claims to have committed or seen others commit atrocities
b) verify if said individual was ever in the military and if so when
c) if the individual WAS in the military during the time of the Afghanistan and/or Iraq actions, is he still active duty and if so where is he stationed?
d) if the individual is no longer active duty, did he receive an honorable discharge?
e) if the individual was in the military or still is AND served in Afghanistan and/or Iraq, find out the dates of such service, the unit served with and where that unit was at the time the "atrocities" were committed.
f) If all else about the individual checks out: he was in the military, he did serve in Iraq or Afghanistan during the relevant time periods, his unit was in the location where he claims it was when the "atrocities" were committed THEN and ONLY THEN, listen to his story.
Then question the DOD about his service and statements and see if there is any corroborating proof of the "atrocities" and if so, prosecute his ass for not notifying his commanding officer while in the service.
IF he did serve and committed the atrocities himself, prosecute him under the UCMJ (iirc, he must still be on Reserve Duty, active or inactive and is still subject to the UCMJ).
Of course, I'm using "he" here only because, except for "Jen" all the players in this little drama, so far, are men. But it is not intended to exclude female troops at all.
Until these sonsabitches can prove their claims to service and time/location of atrocities committed, totally dismiss them.
Should they, however, testify before Congress, then prosecute them for lying under oath to the Congress of the United States.
NONE of the foregoing was really done in any organized fashion when Kerry testified before Congress in Winter Soldier I.
Thanks to the Internet we can now do so on our own and don't need to rely on the lying MSM or for that matter, Congress, to discover the truth behind these outrageous claims.

I also checked the INAVALE FOUNDATION INC.
Boston, MA website and after clicking around a bit I found this organization. They are also beneficiaries of the Inavale Foundation's generosity to the tune of somewhere between $100K to $249K last year (the site was not specific).

They evidently harvest high school kids with certain communication skills that may have been passed over by traditional college selection processes and put them through an 8 month college prep program and then deploy them to the colleges as students. This website is an interesting read. The ultimate goal is to teach these kids to work with the college administrators to be more accepting of diversity. These students work together as an organized group also helping other student organizations that may be more "timid" to become more vocal.

And yes, there is no doubt the Iran Veterans Against War site is very professionally designed. I have always thought the Obama site was quite expensively designed as well. Far better design than one might expect from a junior senator who is coming out of relative obscurity on a grassroots campaign. Even Hillary's site can't touch it. I really have to wonder about why that is.

It's a result of two things: a) my being smeared, along with all other Vietnam Veterans by John F. Kerry at Winter Soldier I and b) my legal training.
I want the truth to come out. Not all soldiers are Boy Scouts with rifles and I have little doubt that some "over the top" activities happened. I also have no doubt that those activities were tiny in number and committed by a very few psychotics and we need to shine the light of truth AND JUSTICE on them.
And, perhaps more importantly, not let THIS generation of Veterans suffer from what MY generation of Veterans had to for so long.

First of all, "H" isn't exactly poorly funded. He's rich in campaign dollars, and has been for a while. How much does a good internet site cost (ie in comparison to millions of dollars of donations)?

Being younger, he probably appreciates the internet more. And its a positive feedback loop. . .the internet generation probably likes him more because of his strong site.

Also, having a much younger base of support, its probable that Obama has some professional internet web-designer supporter who threw up the site for him.

I`ll take the liberty of re-posting a link to Amazon of a very (99 cents and up) cheap book which is basically a re-printing of a speech read into the Congressional Record by Rep. John Schmitz in 1971. It basically names names of persons, organizations, committees, front groups, foundations, college professors, foreign intelligence agencies, etc. that were active the first time around doing this crap, and connects the dots. Given the high proportion of aging leftists and old hippies involved this time, I think it might be profitable for someone with the right skills and patience to out some of their modern counterparts as the same people and groups, perhaps some with foreign connections.

This movement reminds me of nothing more than an evil vampire, driven back into its coffin by the sunlight of the Reagan days, that now thinks it`s night-time again in America and it can slink out and sink its poison fangs again into the country. They`re wrong this time, we`re loaded with the garlic and holy water of the internet and sites like this one,and they might have blundered out into more sunlight than they expected. I long for the day when the wooden stake is driven firmly, utterly and finally through the heart of this particular noxious vampire, that lives on the stolen blood and honor of others.

Didn't Buffett throw a huge chunk of his change into the pot with the Bill Gates Foundation? It seems to me Buffett has been a pretty generous supporter of the semi-soft left for a while and (I think) a staunch supporter of the left wing in the so-called social issues. Again, I"m fuzzy on this, but I think that he (and Gates) are by no means "anti-Zionists" or anti-American to the extent that Soros is, but I would defnitely put them into the category of frequently useful idiots.
Anyone who really believes that "the rich" and/or Big Business are conservative has been asleep at the wheel for the last few decades (or more.) Either that, or you've heard the Democratic Party's mantra so often you've subconsciously bought it!
Soros is a totalitarian self-hating ideologue. When it comes to guys like Bill Gates, I think they're just following the crowd. They want to do Good and can't think of what that might be on their own...So they take Time Magazine's word for it. If they were 12th century barons, they'd found a monastery or build a church. If they were 19th robber barons, they'd found a museum or college. Going with the flow of whatever the elite deem as righteousness.

From "This ain't hell, ..." blog archive:

If you scroll down to the bottom of the IVAW page, you’ll notice where it says “Website funded by Inavale Foundation”. According to Inavale’s 2005 IRS filing (.pdf), their primary officers are William Buffett and Susan Kennedy (about whom I can find nothing on the internet). Inavale’s primary holdings are in Berkshire Hathaway stock (about $15 million worth) - Berkshire Hathaway is Warren Buffett’s holding company. In 2005, over $300,000 was donated to Inavale in B-H stock. In my mind, this links Buffett to IVAW. Inavale also contributes to several liberal causes, such as the ACLU, Human Rights Watch and Jimmy Carter’s Habitat for Humanity.

It's apparent that the msm and the fringes' have been conducting a 'surge' of their own. In an attempt to bring about a socialist, authoritarian government to America they slander and libel anything 'Republican'.
Free market capitalism has become, ever increasingly, socialism for the rich and free enterprise for the poor.
How can that be possible? It doesn't follow traditional authoritarian movements around the world. Movements toward socialism generally find roots with the poor and grow upwards. But, those roots never found growth in America because of the individualistic rich heritage.
So, the effort has been since the late sixties to in-tangle corporate America in a socialistic web. We have watched the struggle of corporation's in that web for forty years. It seems, however, that large corporation's and even sport franchises have now totally em brassed tax-payer dollars as preferential.
Now, with a liberally-agenda party landslide in the November elections they can complete the last phase of the take over of the American economy.
A win in The wars and a clear fiscally economic argument hoisted by a conservative party could even yet rescue us from this movement. And, drive a spike through the heart of the George Soro's of America.

168 brent  Thu, Mar 13, 2008 2:04:01pm

Exactly, JW...

Jesse McBeth is the best example of this crap - if people like those that post here hadn't jumped all over the obvious crap he was spewing, it would have become folklore in another month.

If tracking down the people that are supporting this group to see if that sheds light on their politics, their motivations, is suppressing free speech, then there must be another definition of free that I don't know.

If I see one more front group of George Soros, Warren Buffett, whoever, passing itself off as a grassroots movement; I will puke. If they are against the war, fine. Yell it from the mountains. If they're supporting liars to make a large point, I'll get up on the mountain next to them and expose the lies.

If it's true, I'll listen - but I'll know it's true when I'm doing so, and I'll have some context to back it up. If I believe all the lies and use that as the backdrop for a smaller truth, then what am I believing if not a pretty lie?

Shocking would be if the MSM starting swiftboating these treasonous groups... but then the MSM won't be able to tell which way the wind is blowing even if there was a mob outside their offices calling for their heads...

"I say Madeline there seems to be a mob outside our offices."

"Really whatever could they mean by 'death to all lying scumbag reporters' I wonder"

"Better call downstairs and send a news crew out to interview them and see who they're burning in effigy"...

And `justiceforall` has not even a middle-schooler`s understanding of what the First Amendment means. Slept through civics class apparently.

re: #161 brent

Thanks for the plug, brent. I went looking for a Soros connection but I only turned up the Buffet connection.

Be sure to keep an eye on my blog tomorrow, I'll be inside the Winter Soldier II proceedings and live blogging from about 9 AM until it ends. Just keeping them honest.

I have yet to see any of these IVAW guys who I wouldn't have put out of the Army when I was a commander.

Dirtbags, all.

Always. I'm about 4 miles from where they're having their little theater.

Let's see if I get this right, tens of thousands of US and coalition troops serve in Iraq for 5 years and return with nary a peep of murdering the locals for $hits and giggles but some how a few frauds are exposing the terrible crimes these same tens of thousands committed. Only a demented lefty (I know, I know redundant) would believe these cr@p.

181 CPL 310  Thu, Mar 13, 2008 10:07:29pm

I must've missed out on the atrocities both times I was there in Iraq.

The second time, one of our "combat lifesavers" - basically a Marine who'd had a 1 day course on how to use a med bag and give IVs - patched together an Iraqi who'd been shot through the neck with Quickclot and quick action.

I guess it's less fun to report on frontline combat troops saving lives during sectarian violence than to fabricate lies report about how they've pillaged and plundered.

The Vietnam guys in a lot of cases were not even veterans. Hopefully, we get some credentials on the guys that say they were there-some details on the battles they were in.

I am not against someone voicing their free speech against the war, especially if they actually were there. However, they should tell the truth, and tell the actual facts.

Unfortunately, everyone spins it.

I have never met a soldier that was for fighting a war. They go and do their jobs, follow their orders. They know the sooner that they get the job done, the sooner they get out.

They also have the utmost concern for their fellow soldiers fighting. They never abandon them.

A friend of mine received the MOH in WW2. He never was "for" war, but realized he and his buddies had a job to do. He tried to beat the enemy. Remarkably, he bears no ill will toward the enemy today. They were just doing their jobs, same as the US guys were.

God bless all the American fighting men today. If you are against the war, don't let the idiots spin what you say. Let your message come through. Let us make up our minds on our own.
