It’s the return of the son of the dreaded midday open thread…

New feature in your “My Favorites” page: you can specify a list of tags as a filter. Right now it works as an “OR” filter; if any of the tags match, the favorite shows up in the list.

I’ll be adding a feature to choose “AND” filtering (where all of the tags have to match) as soon as I figure out how to build the MySQL query, a complex many-to-many join with three tables. There may be no easy way to get a set of results with one query, but I’m still trying things.

UPDATE at 3/26/08 6:36:49 pm:

There was a solution, and it used only one query, but it wasn’t exactly easy. You can now choose between “AND” and “OR” modes when filtering by tags. This post by Philipp Keller showed me the way.

Compare Electricity Prices in your area. Texas Electricity is deregulated; you have the right to choose Texas Electric Rates from among many Texas Electric Companies.

The solution remains elusive.

 Frank says:

THE VERY BIG STUPID is a thing which breeds by eating The Future. Have you seen it? It sometimes disguises itself as a good-looking quarterly bottom line, derived by closing the R&D Department. -- from The Real Frank Zappa book.
