The reason that Air America doesn't work and was doomed for the start is that radio stations pay for shows like Glenn Beck, Hannity or Rush Limbaugh. Sponsors buy radio time on the station so they can afford to buy the ability to put the show on the air in their area.

Air America, on the other hand, rents time at radio stations.

Not only do radio stations not WANT their shows enough to pay for it, they won't even donate time... they demade to be paid for the radio time, kind of like those infomercials for that new miracle cure for baldness running on talk radio stations on weekends.

Going into bankruptcy really means that creditors cannot go after them. Depending on the type of bankruptcy, they could either liquidate and go away, or in the case of a chapter 11, continue operating, reorganize, and come out the other end intact (somewhat).

I am not so optimistic.

I think of the 80% being called names, 40% agree (we DO suck), 20% disagree but excuse them (I disagree, but who can blame them for feeling that way. I wouldn't presume to judge), and the remaining 20% think it's awful but are afraid of speaking out, which amounts to fear of being called racist if they object to being called racist.
