Saturday Afternoon Open

Sat, Apr 12, 2008 at 12:58:33 pm PDT

I’m not usually a fan of flower closeup shots, but here’s one I took very quickly in bright sunlight (without focusing or even trying to hold the camera still) that came out surprisingly well.

I advised him that it would be a real good idea to get my daughter home on time & unwrinkled.

Don't be. They are "chaperoned." And you want her to learn how to handle boys before they get the driver's license.

I agree. Presence is everything when approaching the boy in question. My particular take on this is to grill the man endlessly about all points of view until he is quaking in his boots, sure that I hate every single position he has taken and thus will hate him for the rest of his life.

No firearms are required, and it has proven quite effective. The threat of a lawsuit is sometimes just as good as a gun, methinks.

Widowed Italian Poor Mom makes prospective non-Italian beau kneel at her Altar to Mary and swear that he will treat her daughter with same respect he would show Mary. She was all over his butt with Catholic Guilt and he had her home before dark.

a very young and hunky Burt Lancaster was in the movie and the Italian mom was a real Italian actress imported for the film.

This is pretty funny, considering all the horror stories my dad has from the '90s about the Clintons: HRC continues attacks on Obama's remarks.

"I was taken aback by the demeaning remarks Senator Obama made about people in small town America. Senator Obama's remarks are elitist and they are out of touch," Clinton told the factory workers. "They are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans. Certainly not the Americans that I know -- not the Americans I grew up with, not the Americans I lived with in Arkansas or represent in New York. You know, Americans who believe in the 2nd Amendment believe it's a matter of Constitutional rights."

Got this in an email last night and thought it worth reposting here.

Please, read and sign the petition. You are also welcome to spread the word.

On 2007 Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, a fake artist, took a street dog, he tied him with a short rope to a wall of an art gallery and he let him die slowly of starvation and thirst, as "installation".

During the several days , the author of this horrible cruelty and the visitors of this Art Gallery (shame on them) remained careless witnesses in front of the agony of the poor animal, until at last he died of starving and thirst, for sure after spending a painful, absurd, suffering.
That's not all: the prestigious CentroAmerican Biennial of Art decided, (shame on them) that the brutality that has been made by this person was art, and on this incomprehensible way Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat the cruel "installation" at the next Biennial on 2008.
LET'S STOP HIM !

Robert Schimmel (comedian) has a great (horribly filthy) bit about his daughter's boyfriend.

It involves the daughters boyfriend telling him (the father) that he is curious about sex, so Robert helps him out by raping him...but the bit is told in a much more graphic sense. But as the father of a beautiful 17 year old girl...I laughed my butt off.

Interesting you say that, because I've seen that firsthand and agree. When we asked my son what he wanted to do for the summer last year, play LL, whatever, he wanted to ride horses. My wife took him to the stables mostly, but I picked him up a couple of times. Those young girls knew how to handle them, better than him, anyway. They seemed to have a way with them.

re: #12 Paul

Yes, it was discussed at length the other day.... not sure of what will ever come of it, but my suspicion is that the UN machinery will try to sweep his comments under the rug... which is their tendency.

If you are interested in what goes on within the bowels of the UN, the only (known to me) reporter who stations himself there and digs, and reports in English from the US, is Matt Lee aka Inner City Press.

Here is a report of his from April 10:

UN Censors Internet In Its NY Headquarters, Blocking Media Critique and Non-Google Video Sites
UNITED NATIONS, April 10 -- The UN's computer system censors a number of websites, among them the Chinese anti-cnn.com site devoted to searching for what it calls media bias. Also censored is the site dailymotion.com, which after LiveLeaks.com took it down was a remaining site hosting the controversial film "Fitna," which the UN's Ban Ki-moon denounced.
[...]
The same is true of the video site DailyMotion.com, and it is worth noting that the UN does not block or censor another video site, YouTube.com. The latter, of course, is owned by the UN's partner Google, which itself assists with Internet censorship in China.

[Full disclosure: Inner City Press was temporarily excluded by Google News earlier this year, which was linked to UN system and affiliates' complaint(s). At the time, the UN sputtered that it does not engage in censorship. But why then are non-pornographic political analysis web sites blocked inside the UN's own headquarters?]
[...]

Matt Lee is one of the few investigative journalists who study the UN. From his writings (and appearances on bloggingheads.tv) I gather that Mr. Lee has high ideals and beliefs in the UN concept, but is very suspect of the day to day realities of what happens within the UN.

I tend to believe that the UN, when run properly, is a net positive, or at least could be.

Horses seem to prefer female humans to male humans. I think be cause human males are definitely predators and horses are prey.

I learned that I am not a natural horse women. I had a hard time of it at first then I figured out it is the predator/prey thing. I have a hard time with a 1000+ animal that can take my face off --that is basically afraid of me.

I'm much better with dogs and cats --predators. I've never wanted a bunny when I was little or those little birds. Now, a hawk might be kool.

Though no infidelity was involved, I told her that alienation of affection are grounds for divorce, and that I deserved a loving and supportive wife, and if she wasn't it, then, here are the papers (and I had them drawn up in advance) and sign right here, that we're both grown ups, and that would be that. We both stared long and hard in to the black abyss that would have been our future lives without each other. She adjusted her attitude.

I'm trying, but it's hard on me. I married late in life (38) and I feel time ran out on me.

Life is so capricious. I am not sure why, but when you get to the point where it all seems not worth it, things seem to improve.
You are going to rally.
True story, Some years back my wife had a chick flick on , you know where the heroine gets a terminal disease.
My wife with tears coming down her cheeks asked me"If anything happened to me , would you remarry?"
I busted out laughing & said"Dear, if anything were to happen to you, the last thing I would want is another woman to support."
Fortunately. I was able to avoid serious bodily harm.

Is it OBAMA?"

Has anyone received this email, and if so, any idea if it's true, I mean the Book of Revelations part?

In a word No.

Rev. 13
And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. 2The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. 3One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was astonished and followed the beast. 4Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, "Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?"
5The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months. 6He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.

9He who has an ear, let him hear.
10If anyone is to go into captivity,
into captivity he will go.
If anyone is to be killed[c] with the sword,
with the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints.

The Beast out of the Earth

11Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. 12He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. 14Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
18This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.

Rev. is written in signs and symbols which have fore mostly spiritual interpretations. There are some but few direct outward signs.

A. As a woman I say divorce the biatch. Cheating is cheating - who needs her. There are a whole lot more women looking for good men and you sound like a good one.

B. As a lawyer, there are ways...after the baby is born, get friendly with the department of family and children or what ever they call it in your state. Most states can bring support orders without the consent of the mother if it is in the best interest of the child. You soon-to-be-ex-wife's boyfriend may be able to support the whole crew, but if there is any question, the little shit could get hit with a support order and if he does not comply - jail it is.

Great news for Colorado! No more 3.2 beer on Sundays after July 1st! We'll be able to buy booze on Sundays!
BTW, the part where it says the liquor owners don't want to open on Sundays is BULL-F'ing-SHIT! I swear the moron just made that up!

Ritter to sign bill allowing Sunday liquor sales
BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
April 11, 2008

DENVER - Gov. Bill Ritter plans to sign a bill allowing liquor stores to remain open on Sunday.

He's scheduled a ceremony Monday to sign the bill (Senate Bill 182) into law. It would take effect July 1.

Colorado is one of at least 15 states that currently prohibits liquor stores from being open on Sunday.

Liquor store owners have fought previous attempts to change the 75-year-old law, saying they would rather stay closed on Sundays.

This year, many of them switched positions to block another proposal that would have allowed supermarkets to compete with them by selling full-strength beer and wine. A Senate committee killed the supermarket bill in February.

Divorce is in your best interest and getting your daughter's baby daddy hit with a support order is in the grand baby's best interest. First, if the twerp has been hit with a support order he can't comply with, he is less likely to be around your daughter or the baby. It also make him resentful and, thus, less likely to be around. Second, jail time might teach him a thing or two!

Man, is that true. She was a practitioner of infidelity & in essence he stole from another man.
They will never trust each other & with good reason.
These type of relationships never work.

Got a ex-neighbor woman that broke up a marriage, convinced the man to cheat on his wife. What happened to her after she convinced the guy to marry her? Husband cheated on her. She recently got busted at a DUI roadblock, sold her house for about 200k less than it was worth, because she didn't have a man around to maintain it, and is no longer a neighbor. Crocodile tears for all of them.

You mean like Gog and Magog working together? In other words, Russia and Iran working together for the first time in history?

Yep! If one wants to be literal Daniel's prophecy of 7 weeks. Each week is a millennia, week 5 ended with the Roman destruction of the second temple in AD 72. The end of the seventh week then is 2072.

Or, the 3rd temple has not been built yet.

To me they key is Rev. 19:7
Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.

A consistent scriptural theme is God's marriage to his chosen people. The bride is the church, when the church is ready, God will arrange world events.

Rev 22:10 is the operative verse.
Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near. 11Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy."

Regardless of the outward situation, do the right thing.

Savage,

A little free advice...

Not trying to drum up business for the profession or anything, but do not try to do the divorce things yourself. Professionals beat amateurs every time and it sounds like your soon-to-be-ex is going to try and take everything using guilt. Remember, she is the one who should feel guilty and walk away with nothing, not you.

Also keep in mind that you will have no legal obligation to your daughter or her baby after the daughter turns 18. That is not saying you should dump them on the street, but do not let your soon-to-be-ex try to hold you up for cash to take care of them. You can do that on your own without her being a conduit. No child support for daughter after she turns 18. (Besides, any court order giving daughter cash hurts your attempt to hit baby daddy with support order!)

Also, try not to let this sour you on all women. Some of us aren't shits.

Late to the Thread--but for the women with no men around to help make sure the boys know to take good care of your teenage daughters--you can do what I did--- When my daughter started getting serious with this one boy,I told the boy he better not ever hurt my daughter because if he did there was a ball bat at Wal Mart with his name on it, and I wouldn't be afraid to use it. He married my daughter, we get along great, and they have given me 3 wonderful granchildren.

A UW (Seattle) prof calculated regulation around here adds $200k to the cost of a home considering the median is around $400k. That amounts to about half. Heck of a sales tax.

You trusted, which is all to your credit. No one who gets cheated on sees it coming, because that's not the deal in commitment. Be proud of keeping your word, the rest is relatively unimportant. Think of the two of them, starting their relationship in such fashion, never being able to completely trust each other because they know, going in, that both are cheats. You wouldn't want to be that.

Worked with one couple who started out that way. Every time a guy would walk up to her at work, no matter what the reason, he would be over in a heart beat. He knew what kind of gal he had. It was soooo fun to watch him.

If it runs true to the pattern here in New England, the scenario runs something like this: Because their English skills are not the best, they do not understand their rights. The illegals are illegal, so they won't call the health department if the place is overrun with roaches or the heat doesn't work. And they pack in like sardines in a can, so a landlord can rent out a two bedroom apartment to 8 or 10 people who sleep in shifts for 3 or 4 times what he would get from a family.
