Get a load of this:

I've been posting stuff about Nadhmi Auchi and Barack Obama all weekend, and it's finally come up in the Rezko trial.

Obama linked to 2004 party at Rezko's home

Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama's name came up again at the Antoin "Tony" Rezko corruption trial and in a way that earlier filings in the case did not telegraph.

Stuart Levine, the prosecution's star witness, said he and Obama were at a party Rezko threw at his Wilmette mansion on April 3, 2004, for Nadhmi Auchi, a controversial Iraqi-born billionaire who Rezko was trying to get to invest in a South Loop real-estate development.

Auchi, now a citizen of the United Kingdom, has faced criminal charges in Europe. He also figured in the revocation of Rezko's bond early this year after attempting to wire him more than $3 million. Upon learning of that attempt, U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve declared Rezko a flight risk and ordered him held in a federal jail in the Loop.

The Rezko party in 2004 was designed to induce Auchi to pour money into the South Loop investment. Obama's presence at the party was not previously known. At the time, Obama was fresh off a surprise win in the Illinois Democratic primary for U.S. Senate and was riding a crest of national publicity.

This could be really bad news for Barry.

BTW Big oil makes an obscene 10 cents or so profit per gallon while in WA combined State and Federal tax is around 60 cents a gallon. Since people are driving less with the high cost and better average economy vehicles, gas tax revenues are down. They're talking tolls to regain the lost revenue.

From the SunTimes blog:

When Tony Rezko held a reception at his home for Iraqi-born billionaire Nadhmi Auchi on April 3, 2004, White House hopeful Barack Obama and his wife were also there, Stuart Levine testified just now at Rezko's trial.

Auchi is the man who provided Rezko a $3.5 million loan that Rezko did not disclose to the court -- resulting in his January arrest.
"Mr. and Mrs. Obama were there, were they not?" Rezko lawyer Joseph Duffy asked.
"Yes, sir," Levine said.

Obama and his aides have said Obama has no recollection of ever meeting Auchi.

Obamamania Extends Beyond U.S. Borders

Recently, Al Jazeera reported on a group of young Palestinians in the Gaza Strip who took it upon themselves to get together and randomly cold-call Americans in the U.S., encouraging them to vote for Obama. In an interview on the English version of the Arabic news network, 23-year-old coordinator Abu Juyyab told the reporter that hearing Obama speak won him over.

“I thought, this was a man who is capable of change outside of America. ... I think he can also bring peace to the area — at least that this is what we hope,” Abu Juyyab said through an interpreter. Since January, he and 17 friends have called Americans randomly via the Internet before each primary. ...

PRINCETON, NJ -- Barack Obama, who has come under attack by his presidential rivals for describing small-town voters as "bitter," seems to be weathering the storm to this point as far as voters are concerned. He maintains a 10 percentage point lead over Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, 50% to 40%, according to the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking.

Force BHO out now, lots of damage looks bad to force out the front runner for the insider Clinton machine.

I had assumed that right along. I think a huge chunk of his funding is coming from overseas. Note that anyone from anywhere in the world can go to his website and donate up to $200, which Barry does not have to track and does not have to report.

I've got to tell you, Barry seems to have a really LOUSY memory for someone who claims to be so superior and brilliant and all that. And yet he cannot remember who he has met? Not much of a schmoozer, is he? Or is it that he is lying through his teeth?

That's been well established that he seems to either have a lousy memory or he lies through his teeth. I suspect the latter since Levine is under oath, and Obama has been known not to tell the truth in the past.

I'm just trying to get the conenctions between the Iraqi-born Auchi and Obama out in the open. Auchi was a supporter of Saddam Hussein's regime. He made quite a bit of money selling weapons to Saddam. Auchi was also involved in an assassination attempt (with Saddam) on the Iraqi president back in 1959.

The fact is that both Obama and Clinton are making more than a few unforced errors in judgment when there really isn't any pressure, which only highlights their failings to inspire as leaders. Berating and belittling voters isn't going to get many votes, and with PA just a few days away, don't think for an instant that voters aren't realizing that Obama thinks that they are tools.

McCain landslide.

No, but I see a repeat of 2000 and 2004.

Demcrats could/should win, but run a weak candidate. Someone who has no business running for the office. If I were a gambl'n man. I would a small amount of money on JMac to win. By only 1 state.

It will get nasty though. Lizards are on it, but big buckos are flowing in to attack McCain. I think this will help as conservatives will get something to rally around (think Wellstone funeral in Minnesota in 2002). When a right sided person who spent the last 8 years condemning McCain, suddenly sees Soros, Big Hollywood, AFCSME, etc going hugely negative...our perceptions change.

Have these pollsters accounted for the 10% of "good Democrats" (as Susan Estrich calls them) who feel enough White Guilt to tell a pollster they'll vote for the black guy, but not enough White Guilt to actually do it?

That was, according to the pollsters, the problem: about 10 percent of the electorate claimed that they were going to vote for him*, and in many cases even told pollsters that they did, but they lied.

No one doubts, or at least no one who is honest does, that both racism and sexism come into play as people decide between Clinton and Obama, but could it be that people are more willing to admit that they won’t vote for the woman than that they won’t vote for the black?

If this is happening even among us good Democrats, what does that say about Obama’s strength in a general election? Not pretty questions.

Barf.

In February 2004 a salvage team began work raising the wreck of the Admiral Graf Spee. The operation is in part being funded by the government of Uruguay, in part by the private sector, as the wreck is now a hazard to navigation. The first major section, a 27-ton gunnery range-finding telemeter, was raised on 25 February 2004[18]. It is expected to take several years to raise the entire wreck. Film director James Cameron is filming the salvage operation. After it has been raised, it is planned that the ship will be restored and put on display at the National Marine Museum in Montevideo.

On 10 February 2006, the 2 metres (6.6 ft) eagle figurehead of the Admiral Graf Spee was removed from the stern of the ship and recovered.[19] To protect the feelings of those sensitive to Nazi Germany, the swastika at the base of the figurehead was covered as it was pulled from the water.

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. - Deputy Scott Wilson, spokesman for the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, is used to fielding phone calls and e-mails of all kinds from reporters and the community at large.

One inquiry he is not accustomed to getting, though, is where to score marijuana.

At least, "not from the selling standpoint," Wilson said Friday.

Earlier this week, Wilson found himself fielding calls from people who said they'd seen his number on a Craigslist ad, and called it wondering if it was an actual outlet for pot purchasers.

The first call, he said, was someone who "said they weren't looking to buy marijuana," but were merely curious if it were true.

"I said 'No, we're not selling dope,' " Wilson said with a chuckle. "I think this is somebody's idea of a joke."

Obama hits a 20-point stumble in PA

That's a bitter pill to swallow. His only hope is to convince a majority of voters not to trust current government policies. He needs a poll like this.

"There is a growing mistrust and lack of confidence in the United States," said Shibley Telhami, a University of Maryland professor in charge of the annual poll.

Just like Kerry, Obama's got the foreign vote locked up.

"You go into some of these large cities like Chicago or Detroit, and like a lot of large cities in areas in the Northeast, the traditional ethical values have been gone now for 25 years or more and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the values taught by civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King, and despite special programs such as affirmative action which was enforced by the Clinton and Bush administrations, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate their moral compass. So it's not surprising then that people abandoned by their fathers when they were young get bitter, they cling to guns or a liberation theology religion that teaches hatred of the other and scapegoats government, or antipathy to people who aren't like them, or anti-semitism disguised sometimes as anti-Zionism, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Any Obama supporter have a problem with the re-worked quote. If you do, and you had no problem with the original quote, if you want to see racism, look no further than your mirror.

My dad used to live in pretty rural county North of Portland, OR. The meth cookers would come out find an abandoned isolated house and start cookin'. When they started selling, customers would come to them, istead of them going into Portland.

Now the Sheriff would ask hizself a simple question. Why are 30 cars a day suddenly going up that road, I know everyone that lives up there, and the only time I see that kinda traffic is Thanksgiving, Christmas and funerals.

The cookers always ask, "how did you find us?"

I'm deeply suspicious. The first newser I read today was a USA Today article interviewing in the area of Jacobus, PA. Of course, USA Today found no harm to Barry. They even managed to find a guy with a Obama sign in his yard. The trouble is, Jacobus is about as far south as central PA can go, and still remain in the state. Marylanders have flooded into south-central PA, earning York the somewhat derisive nickname, "Yorktimore". By tip-toeing across the state line, USA Today set themselves, (and us), up for predictable results.

The previous ARG poll had the two Dems tied at 45%. Fresh polls are due out in a couple of days. I'll wait.

no, not according to the excellent book I read some years ago. the resue diver drew a picture of what he came upon. It might have been Cyril Wecht, the famous autopsy/evidence guy who wrote the book I am thikning of. the evidence, all of it, biological physical, etc., pointed to asphyxiation (i.e., running out of air, as she survived for some time in an air pocket), not by drowning.

I loves me some small town. Loves me some Pie. Loves me some Cake!

I live in Frederick County MD and a lot of people in my neighborhood go down to DC and Northern VA. Leave at 0530 and get home after 2000. They spend 3 1/2 to 4 hours in their car everyday. I wouldn't do it for all the tea in China. I'd bag groceries before I'd spend 1/2 my life in the car chasing after the dollars.

According to reports, Livni hoped to come to an understanding with Al-Jazeera which would enable both sides to avoid future disagreements.

Jordan: Inmates riot over segregation of al-Qaida suspects

Scores of inmates rioted Monday in a Jordan prison, protesting a move by authorities to segregate al-Qaida-linked militants from other convicts in violence that left three inmates dead, police said.

Anti-riot police "brought order" to Muwaqqar Penitentiary three hours after the violence erupted, a police official said, without elaborating on how the riot was put down.

The official said three inmates died, apparently from smoke inhalation after rioters set fire to mattresses. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not allowed to speak to the press.

The riots began when wardens tried to move some non-militant inmates to other sections of the desert prison, or to Jordan's nine other detention facilities in line with a police regulation introduced last week, the official said. It was not clear whether the riot was started by militants or other prisoners.

Ewoks.

troll - Unwelcome, offensive, stupid or abusive commenter on a blog, chat room, user group or BBS. Common Internet slang dating back to the early days of the Web in the ’90s and BBSs in the ’80s.

She'd scream at me for how 'ignorant' I am.... called me a cheater often.

Turns out, she just explained things enough times that I just didn't need to study or do homework.

Teach, in depth, a concept half a dozen times, so that the slowest in the class can get it, and people like me tend to get very bored.

You have to constantly watch what they are being fed in school. This teacher was clueless. I had my son go and tell her that he would not be free to go to Saudi Arabia and open a Church or a Synagogue. The teacher said that wasn't true. After her talking to she looked it up for herself and realized that what my son was saying was true. She did admit that she was wrong, which is good. I will say this, having a more than a couple of very close black friends, the term "boy" carries a very subservient connotation that to other folks in the culture may not notice.

Albeit, I may use the word myself when referring to my own "boys" or a friend, or someone in general, it carries no derogatory meaning.

From that, I can say I avoid using "boy" in conversation in the event I might be taken as an insult.

The one thing they do know me for, is that I am anything but a knee jerk PC reactionary jackass, as I will voice my opinion about other race related issues that may be critical of their community, etc.

I just avoid it out respect for their wishes.

Powell was always the most liberal of Bush's Administration.

I was kind of confused as to why he chose him to be Sec State.

I was further confused by the internet hatred of him and all of the radically racist things said by liberals of him.

re: #256 wolfie

Sad.
And I say that as a Southern partisan. We'll never know, but I believe Lincoln would have done much more to bind up the wounds of the war and to protect the freedmen from being made the scapegoats of Southern resentment.

Here’s something Democrats don’t want you to know,

Hiram Revels ( R ) of Mississippi became the first African American senator in 1870. Born in North Carolina in 1827, Revels attended Knox College in Illinois and later served as minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Baltimore, Maryland. He raised two black regiments during the Civil War and fought at the battle of Vicksburg in Mississippi. The Mississippi state legislature sent him to fill a vacancy in the U.S. Senate during Reconstruction, and he quickly became an outspoken opponent of racial segregation. Although Revels' term in the Senate lasted just a year, he broke new ground for African Americans in Congress.

Born into slavery in 1841, Blanche K. Bruce ( R ) spent his childhood years in Virginia and Missouri where he received his earliest education from the tutor hired to teach his master's son. At the dawn of the Civil War, Bruce fled to freedom in Kansas. After emancipation, he returned to Missouri and then Mississippi to pursue a career in education and politics. Elected to the Senate in 1874 by the Mississippi state legislature, he served from 1875 to 1881, becoming the first African American to preside over the Senate in 1879. In 2002, the Senate commissioned a new portrait of Bruce, now on display in the U.S. Capitol.

So we watch democrats breaking their arms trying to pat themselves on the back for passing the civil rights bill and ironically the need for this bill was purely caused by their own unconstitutional actions.

Democrats have done a wonderful job of pulling the wool over African American eyes.

Doug Feith wrote a new book in which he takes Colin Powell to task for not having quit outright or refusing to support the mission, instead of undermining, President Bush! Instead Colin was half-hearted and encouraged foot dragging & whining.

re: #333 faraway

I am not talking about offending an adult.

Trust me, my best friend during my time in the military was black, and we went back quite a bit.

It was very educational, as we would have frank discussions about race, and I was privy to some insight that growing up as a white boy, in a majority white, blue collar background, just would not have had experience with.

The way he explained it, and really, the way it could be perceived was enough for me to say fine, if that's the truth, I can respect that, and just not use the term under the circumstance.

Some folks would chastise me for that, as caving to the PC crowd. I don't care. I remember him catching quite a bit of hell from the other black guys for hanging around this white boy.

Trust me, you would understand, if you met me, you would not mistake me. The one thing I can't hide is my physical presence, and at times it is intimidating without any reason to be. I don't bullshit.

I really did it out of respect for what he explained to me.

My nephew, age 13, is convinced that one of his classmates has tried cocaine--because the kid (white) supposedly has assumed a "rap gangsta" persona, claims he has tried cocaine, and, according to my nephew, chews tobacco.

I tried to explain to my nephew that tobacco and cocaine are not equivalent, and that just because the kid claimed he had done something doesn't mean he did. It's sad, if he thinks that will make him cool, but it doesn't mean he did it.

I think cocaine is garbage, but I am disturbed that my nephew has been indoctrinated to think that it is equivalent to tobacco. In my own experience, discovering that a puff of pot did not immediately turn you into a junkie (contrary to what we had been taught in "health class"), made the more serious drugs that much less threatening, and the warnings against them that much less meaningful.

There is a whole separate stupidity to the culture of overprotection.

Some pompus ass on I-5 this morning. Prius, Obama sticker, driver had a beard.

58 mph in the left lane. I could see his digital dash display as I went by in my truck at 70mph.

I like to draft them types, most small cars don’t like a 4x4 riding their bumpers.

Big trucks rule, little cars drool.

Especially when Elvis sings it in that gold jumpsuit!

Fact: Elvis sweat enough during that song to fill the Panama Canal.

/I made that up like on Wiki.

And then that scalawag Carter gave the canal away. Anti-Elvis. Can't get much lower than that.

Europe or Eurabia?

by Daniel Pipes

April 15, 2008

The future of Europe is in play. Will it turn into "Eurabia," a part of the Muslim world? Will it remain the distinct cultural unit it has been over the last millennium? Or might there be some creative synthesis of the two civilizations?

The answer has vast importance. Europe may constitute a mere 7 percent of the world's landmass but for five hundred years, 1450-1950, for good and ill, it was the global engine of change. How it develops in the future will affect all humanity, and especially daughter countries such as Australia which still retain close and important ties to the old continent.

I foresee potentially one of three paths for Europe: Muslims dominating, Muslims rejected, or harmonious integration.

It's already tomorrow, the 15th, in Australia.

How cool is that?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The "No Refund, No Return" sign is on the door already.

I am raising daughters, not running a lending library. If you are "in love" and "an adult" and want to do something stupid, I will advise against it but I will not stop you.

What is it about funerals that liberals seem to believe are legitimate platforms for political speech? They booed Norm Coleman (?) at Paul Wellstone's, and now B.O.'s spiritual adviser (spit) blasted Hannity and O'Reilly while delivering the eulogy at someone's service.

Have they no shame?

The countdown to the destruction of the Democratic Party is on.

Once America wins in Iraq, it's going to be tough for the Democrat Party to win anything anywhere.

This morning, I heard obama talking about how hilly is tearing the party apart by giving the R's so many talking points against him (think general election). He is a joke, a bad joke albeit, but a joke nonetheless.

Remember how Nancy Pelosi & Dems now say Iraq isn't paying us with OIL yet?

Well this weekend, Iraq's foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Iraqis ARE shouldering most of their reconstruction, "the main burden".

Zebari said Iraq is spending 10 to 1 now on Iraq's de
