CAIR-Endorsed Pro-Terrorist Screening Canceled

Tue, Apr 15, 2008 at 11:23:25 am PDT

The fundraiser event for jailed Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Sami Al-Arian, organized by the UC Irvine Muslim Student Union and promoted by the Council on American Islamic Relations, has been called off by theater management: Al-Arian Screening Canceled.

Starplex Cinemas has no ties or relations with the organization that rented the theater to do a film screening. The intent and content of the film was not disclosed. We have no political affilication and have canceled the screening.

We thank the community for bringing this to our attention.

For any questions or comments, please contact Kristen Wheaton at Starplex Cinemas.

Jonathan Constantine of Red County’s Campus Watch has more:

In a phone call with Wheaton later this morning, she explained that the decision was made because of the highly politicized nature of the screening, and the lack of disclosure by two female representatives from the Muslim Student Union concerning the content of the event. More specifically, according to a representative from Woodbridge 5, they described the screening as a “student film,” despite the involvement of outside political organizations like CAIR.

Any FBI field agents cruising LGF today? You might want to check out the members of the Muslim Student Union at UC Irvine instead of hunting down LGF members who make remarks you consider a "hate" crime.

I speak peace when peace is spoken, But I speak war when your hate is provoking, The season is open 24-7-365, Man up yo time to ride, No need to hide behind slogans of deceit, Claiming that you're a religion of peace, We just don't believe you, We can clearly see through, The madness that you're feeding your people, Jihad the cry of your unholy war, Using the willing, the weak and poor, From birth drowning in propaganda, rhetoric and slander, All we can say is damn ya

My forefathers fought and died for this here
I'm stronger than your war of fear
Are we clear?
If you step in my hood
It's understood
It's open season

don't need a faith that's blind, Where death and hate bring me peace of mind, With views that are stuck deep in the seventh century, So much sand in your eyes to blind to see, The venom that you leaders preach, Is the path to your own destruction, Your own demise, You might say that I don't understand but your disgust for me is what I realize, Surprise!
Your homicidal ways has got the whole world watching, Whole world scoping, So if you bring it to my home base, Best believe it, The season's open

I see you, Hell yeah I see you, Motherfucker naw, I don't wanna be you, If you come to my place, I'll drop more than just some bass, Yo you'll get a taste of a, Sick motherfucker from the Dirty, I ain't worrying not a fucking bit, I'm telescoping like Hubble, Yo you in trouble, Yo on the double, I'm wild with mine, Bring that style with mine, Fuck with my family I'll end your life, Just the way it is, Just the way it be, Do you understand? No matter if you're woman or man, or child, My profile is crazy, That shit you do doesn't amaze me, I'm ready to blaze thee

I don't give a damn what god you claim, I've seen the innocent that you've slain, On my streets you're just fair game, Like a pig walk to your slaughter, The heat here is so much hotter, And my views won't teeter totter or fluctuate, Step to me you just met your fate, And I'll annihilate, With the skill of a Shogun assassin, Slicing and dicing precise with a passion, In any shape form or fashion, Bring it to my home, Welcome to the danger zone, Cause your attitude's the reason, The triggers keep squeezing, The hunt is on and it's open season

Why didn't CAIR just show the movie on campus?
There's probably a little theater for plays, musicals and movies.
Why go off campus and risk the outside world's learning what they're up to?

Many college campuses have very strict rules about the fundraising activities that campus facilities can be used for. This particular one likely would have gotten the campus in huge trouble for providing material support to terrorism.

It's private property- they don't have to rent out their theater. Also- claim they've backed out due to being misled as to the nature of the screening gives them a perfect excuse. cair or the students can try to sue, but the irony is they would need to switch the fund raising for legal costs from al-arian to themselves.

You really think it would be a good idea for the Vatican to have it's own supply of ICBM's? I find that as repugnant as the thought of the mullahs in Iran having them.
Let the Pope provide spiritual guidance to the masses, where his qualifications lay, and leave killing, when necessary to our military.

I've been to the Starplex theater. Nice place...and they only charge $1.50 USD for a movie. $1.00 USD on Tuesday nights. How do they do it?

They are a family business and they own the building and the property.

...they then pass those savings onto their customers.

The reason that they were able to cancel so easily is that it is a family owned-run business.

They don't have to take guff (or lies) from anyone.

Nice people, too.

Kids are sweet people, as well.

Think I'll congratulate them for this decision the next time I see them.

Peshmerga to be incorporated into security system

Baghdad, Apr 14, (VOI) – A Kurdish legislator revealed at the Iraqi parliament on Monday that the Iraqi Kurdistan Region's talks with the central government in Baghdad resulted in an agreement to incorporate the peshmerga, or the local Kurdish fighters, into Iraq's security system.

I understand the concern over MSM control, but I really think it is lessening for a couple of reasons:

1) News papers (most of them) are sinking like the Titanic
2) Cable news is increasingly getting stories from the blogosphere (just watch stories appear here or on Drudge and wait a day or two......they'll often be found on CNN or FOX News.)
3) Conservative talk radio is continuing to grow in listeners and, as a result, advertising revenue.
4) Liberal talk radio needs lots of subsidization from the likes of George Soros just to stay in business......even liberals don't want to hear other liberals rant and swear.

(O.K.....that was more than a couple)

He interprets the Bible in a way that makes it compatible with scientific evidence. I don't have time to go into this, but he even shows how dinosaurs are mentioned in Genesis. re: #102 Widow'smight

Right next door in NJ, the laws are totally different. A guy I know went to NJ to buy a car, got stopped for a car license problem. He had an unloaded shotgun in his trunk with the Plug in it.
He had no record before this, was arrested and now has to go back to NJ for a hearing.

The Politicians rounded up all the hombres I guess.

what were they doing in the trunk? you need probable cause to open it.

motion to supress, unless he was dumb enough to tell them "sure, you can look in the trunk"....

For any questions or comments, please contact Kristen Wheaton at Starplex Cinemas.

Better yet- someone send her flowers.

Thank-you flowers, or funerary flowers?

Hopefully the former rather than the latter.

re: #145 Kosh's Shadow

Read various books by Gerald Schroeder, like Genesis and the Big Bang and The Science of G-d

He interprets the Bible in a way that makes it compatible with scientific evidence. I don't have time to go into this, but he even shows how dinosaurs are mentioned in Genesis. (The term usually translated "giant sea creatures" has the word for "large" and another word that appears in the Bible in one other place, describing crocodiles.)

That'd be this book right here, right?

re: #145 Kosh's Shadow

Why do we need to shoehorn Genesis into the geological record or vice versa? What is wrong with acknowledging the allegorical aspects of Genesis for what they are rather than run into the heresy of literalism?

"The Vatican has turned pacifist. Like all pacifists they rely on others to protect them".

If you are inclined to have "others" protect you, how can you improve upon the most powerful military in the world? Please read the article "Holy Warriors" at salon.com by Sidney Blumenthal.

Or should The Knights Templar be resurrected? How about both?

3) Critic, analysis, and disagreement with their speech is not censorship.

Nor is it hate speech.
