CAIR on PRNewswire Again

Fri, Apr 18, 2008 at 4:13:46 pm PDT

Speaking of front groups and falsehoods, here’s CAIR using PRNewswire again to spread vicious distortions and attacks on their critics, while promoting a fundraiser for Islamic Jihad leader Sami Al-Arian: CAIR: Calif. Theater Cancels Al-Arian Doc After Pressure From ‘Anti-Muslim Bigots’.

“By succumbing to pressure from anti-Muslim bigots, Starplex Cinemas sends the message that only some points of view deserve to be heard,” CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush. “It is un-American for any group to stifle free speech by seeking to censor political views.”

Ayloush said another theater has agreed to screen the documentary this evening. The theater, also located in Irvine, is a newer facility and is able to accommodate an additional 100 guests. That facility is also coming under pressure from the same anti-Muslim sources.

The event is open to those who have reserved a seat. Those wishing to attend the screening and panel discussion, please e-mail mbangee@cair.com to be put on a waiting list.

CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

I contacted PRNewswire, by the way, and asked them to review some of the articles they’ve released from CAIR, with pointers to information about the history of the group. Received no reply.

Since when is supporting terrorism a "political view"?

3 LSD  Fri, Apr 18, 2008 4:16:47pm

It's not a documentary showing, it's a fund raiser for a terrorist.

4 paxnhymn  Fri, Apr 18, 2008 4:16:56pm

the big question is did Regal theatres allow the showing?

5 CyanSnowHawk  Fri, Apr 18, 2008 4:17:46pm

I wonder why that is?

attention CAIR scumbags : you still get free speech.

and Free Americans also have the freedom to impose consequences to your free speech.

This is not Saudi Arabia.

Perhaps you ought to hold your CAIR based fund raiser there......oh wait, you already do.

Starplex Cinemas has no more obligation to show this film than they do to show poronography. They are a private company and it is their right to decide what films they wish to promote.

It's only censorship if the government prevents you from showing the movie.

You start with a flour tortilla, You place on it one large polish sasague wrapped in bacon. Pour chili over it, Add some jack cheese, chopped onions and a squirt of mustard. Then fold it up like a big big burrito.

There's a small heart-attack in every bite.

Yummy.

I've got nothing against burgers, esp good ol' chili burgers, Carl's has been running a promo on them recently, Tommy's is as it's always been, Islands is good - but has gotten too expensive, their business is WAY down - get better for less at Cheesecake Factory!

But somehow, burger just doesn't scream "Los Angeles" anymore.

Love the Western Bacon Cheeseburger at Carl's Jr.
Want to try the new Western Bacon Imitator that Jack-In-The-Box has created. (I work right across the street from their development kitchens in Kearny Mesa)

Didja ever try french fries with brown gravy? They're pretty good - think they originated in Pittsburgh or Southwestern Pa!

Wooo Nooo---not much on brown gravy anyway, but diff. not run my french fries with it. Also, no Ketchup----do like ranch dressing with them, or just plain up.

My brother from another, next time you're in Maryland, lemme know. I even have room to park your rig, behind a six foot chain link fence, with Dobermans.

Kirly can vouch for it. That's where we went on our first date.

The ribs are even better than the burgers...

43 and closing on 44.

*I weighed 130 in high school (sprinter/wide receiver). Bulked up to 155 for semi-pro football in my very early 20's. Dropped back down to 135 after my knees fell apart after a season and a half. Stayed there until about a two years ago. That's when my chest fell into my waistline. Can't run anymore, it hurts too much.

As much as I love the South, they have a peculiar notion of what constitutes bar-b-que. I remember ordering a bar-b-que sandwich somewhere in Virginia. I expected a slab of pork cooked over a fire like we do in the west. What I got was a big drippy spoon of meat glop in sweet sauce on a bun- more like a sloppy joe. I was not impress.

JWM

We'll I say you got shorted. A good pulled pork BBQ sandwich, lots of meat, LA style tends to the sweeter sauces. Dixie's is good. The General down in Tukwila does TX style.

You are feeling sick because we have been infected with an invasive form of cancer called Islamofascism, which is progressively taking over our democratic organs - the MSM, the Justice system and even our politicians. CAIR is a tumour.

It needs to be radiated.

Here it's big-ass brisket, slow smoked.

All depends if that damn load goes to Hayward first of Modesto. If Modesto comes off, I'll run I15 down to 58 and run over Tehachapi to 99

Do you go through Wasco? I went through there once.

You aren't 40 yet, are you?

48 wear the same waist size I did in HS. When I work out, I lose about 5 lbs and start gaining, muscle.

Genes parents both lean.

Let's try to book Fitna at the same theatre and watch the "bigots" at CAIR try to censor it

Douggie, we're watching you

All this talk of food and exercise - I can't take it any more. Here's my favourite fast food, which I get from a little greasy spoon in my neighbourhood:
Banquetburger Combo - the burger comes with
- Cheese
- Bacon
- Mustard
- Relish
- Tomato
- Sour Dill Pickle
- Onion (if yer OK with onion breath)
The combo comes with fresh cut french fries (gravy extra) and a can of pop. If you don't get the gravy, you want salt, pepper and ketchup on the fries.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmgood!

From Charles;

I contacted PRNewswire, by the way, and asked them to review some of the articles they’ve released from CAIR, with pointers to information about the history of the group. Received no reply.

So will it ever be, as long as their check clears.

211 Abu Boo Boo  Fri, Apr 18, 2008 8:09:43pm

The point of the press release is to intimidate the next theater... you cancel on us and we'll tell the world that you acted on orders from "anti-Muslim bigots."

What's really needed is 5,000 people demonstrating outside CAIR's IslamoNazi fundraiser. And taking photos of the terrorist supporters as they enter and leave.

Since it's effectively just an open access propaganda outlet disguised as a news wire, perhaps you could just use prnewswire to let all prnewswire readers know what cair are about.

Good thing free speech isn't being censored then.

Guys --

PR Newswire is just a business -- putting out press releases for a fee. You can make it evil, but really, it kinda makes you seem like Kos Konspiracy Kids.

You too can put out a press release over US1 and reach everyone. Couple of thousand dollars and you will have the same reach as CAIR and every other person on the planet who wants to put out a release.

Want to have fun -- track the story online, and abuse the media outlets which run it rather than doing their freaking jobs and researching and writing their own stories. The quotes are the most likely bit that lazy journos will lift.

Have fun. :)

Talking about bigotry, what has happened to those Jewish cemeteries in Gaza?

216 leah  Sat, Apr 19, 2008 8:16:46am

Islamic Jihad? Didn't they blow up the US Embassy in Beirut 25 years ago? Well, they took credit for it...and the Marine barrack bombing that killed 241 US Marines

That's a good idea.
PRNewswire is really just PRwire and carries press releases regardless of their slant or bias. So why not just match the terrorists release-for release, or swamp 'em with ten releases telling the truth about CAIR and its ilk every time the terrorists issue one.
That would probably cost some bucks but maybe you could launch a special fundraiser for it.
This is actually a real danger because not everyone realizes that PRNewswire is NOT a real news wire service. A few years back some guy trying to manipulate the stock market caused a major market incident by putting a false release on PRNewswire.
Uninformed people do take this venue seriously, however journalistically un-serious it really is.
How about it Charles? A fact-dissemination campaign on PRN?

re: #216 leah

Ummm...nope.

Hizballah took credit for Beirut 1983. Imad Mughniyeh, (former Force 17 commander and lifetime Iranian al Quds agent), ran the operation and was never a member of Egyptian Islamic Jihad.

Egyptian Islamic Jihad was eventually taken over by Ayman Zawahiri in the early '90s.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad was not involved in Beirut either. At the time it's members were still in hiding in the Gaza Strip after that groups assassination of Sadat.
