Folks, you have to remember that this is a blog for North Koreans, by North Koreans. If you haven't seen any of the documentaries on how they are educated, you really need to. This photo seems glaringly ridiculous to western eyes, but think in terms of farfour, and the intended audience of children when you view it.

I've spent a lot of time over the years looking at lots of DPRK propaganda, digging deep into their websites and even getting real translations as my step-mother is from Korea. I even had a six month back and forth conversation with a guy from their official news agency based in Japan. He was very bright and at one point almost admitted that he knew the stuff they post is absurd. A week later his e-mails stopped! Anyway, this just doesn't seem to fit. Nudity is a real no-no for one thing. Admittedly, the "eardrum" thing is the part that holds me back from saying that this is a complete hoax.

In many societies through out the world, Girls are married young. IN many cases younger then the FLDS girls. The aspect I have a problem with is consent of the girls. Sure, having a girl wiht a fifty year old gut seems bad on the surface, but many kids that age ore sexually active. Who would yo urather your daughter be with? a child who canno support her, or one who can. Sure 50 and 14 is too much of a spread, but I think, given that many girs today are sexually active at thirteen and younger that allowing mariage should be a dead issue.
Again the question for me is consent. If the girls say no, its not marriage, its rape. So far there has been no conclusive evidence of actual forced marriage in Texas. In fact, the police interviewed a woman in Colorado Springs in connection with the case. Seems she may have been the one who made the call, especially since the purported husband is in Arizona and has not been to Texas in at least five years.
