There's deeper meaning? Sorry, but this is going to the convention - no doubt about it. Dean can scream all he wants (and I'm sure he's doing quite a bit of that to everyone within earshot at DNC hq), but there's no reason for either Obama or Clinton to step aside. Both have good reason to stick it out until the convention.

Which means that popcorn sales should spike soonly.

6 schultzw  Tue, Apr 22, 2008 7:06:54pm

I'd go for a Belgian w/ strawberries and whipped cream from IHOP

This reminds me of a cartoon in the New Yorker many a year ago (no, not in a kingdom by the sea). All these surgeons were looking down at an operating table where a patient (etherizied) lay. The caption? One surgeon is saying to the others:
"Doesn't that look just like evening spread out against the sky?"
I had just read Eliot's Prufrock, so I really enjoyed the fact that I "got" it.

Huh.
Hard to predict. If it was Dem versus GOP, it'd be GOP solidly ahead all day long, statewide, then at 11:07 pm after all the polls are closed, the city results tsumani in, closing, erasing, then reversing the GOP's numbers. End of the day, the Dem wins.

But, this time it's Dem versus Dem. WHo gets the city tsunami, who gets the statewide? Or do they split normal-like as if no one is manipulating results?

That I am considering expanding my horizons despite the legal obstacles that New York provides is directly due to my friends here.

Centre County is where State College is. He really couldn't have expected to beat her after those Bigoted remarks he made.

If he does win the Nomination, he'll have a difficult time winning here in the General. I live in Berks county, and have seen very few Obama Signs. I'm glad it's over, they kept playing those Obama ads on my Country Station, now that ain't right.
If the Dem candidate doesn't win PA, you might as well stick a fork in them.

Tell ya what Obama, you can pick any small time Pa town you want, and walk anywhere at any time of the day without worrying about some Bitter gun-totin, bible-thumpin alien-hating republican/Hillary supporter robbing or shooting your ass.

Try that in Philly during the day, where you'll find none of those folks.

The only problem with that forecast: Dems are turning out tonight about 6:1 vs Republicans....

Sidenote on campaign maneuvering earlier:

April 22, 2008
Sec of State Ruled That PA Polls Wouldn't Stay Open
HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Pennsylvania secretary of state said that a petition was denied in Philadelphia to extend all county polling places until 10 pm.

Secretary of State Pedro Cortes said the petition was filed after three polling places in the county had sporadic machines down. The judge in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas ruled this afternoon that the city had properly resolved the issue, and the malfunction didn't warrent the entire county remaining open. A spokeswoman said she did not believe an appeal had been filed.

Cortes said he expected turnout to be at 40 to 50 percent across the state, compared to less than 20 percent in recent presidential primary race. Cortes said he estimated voting in Allegheney County, which includes Pittsburgh, to be as much as 60 percent.

He said a few polling places did not open on time or had small malfunctions.

"The good thing is there is enough safeguards built into the process that, in the end, the electorate was given the opportunity to vote," he said

Lookie here -

Guess who gets to make the claim that she will have the popular vote lead after tonight? Sure she has to claim that Florida and Michigan count, But you can bet she will claim just that.

But here is something also interesting. If you throw out Cook County in Illinois, Barack's popular vote lead goes away regardless of how you slice the popular vote. The Cook County numbers were Obama 743,686 Clinton 314,634.

Right now Obama's entire lead in popular vote is attributable to his home county, which does not have a reputation for clean politics.

Back up the popcorn truck - we are going to Denver.

Wow - we are going to save the world too.

What is this hideous Obamanation talking about? All this change crap? What does he want to do? Overthrow the government of the United States? What gives here? I am sick and tired of his yak about demonizing Washington, D.C. He's such a demagogue...Now he's praising himself as the Holy Savior...what a puke...

486 Dahveed  Tue, Apr 22, 2008 8:10:17pm

I always wonder about these people that feel the need to go up to a candidate to tell them their problems. The day I go up to a presidential candidate to tell them what I have going on in my life is the day I put a gun to my head. When you feel it's time to tell them what is happening, you know it's over. You have no chance of coming back. You've lost all pride.

I need to get to Wrigley this year. Probably will need to come up with some big time money to get in the door.

Check craigslist for Chicago, Kenosha/Racine, and Milwaukee for cubs tix. I saw some short notice tickets for face value because someone had to work... I wish I got those tix! Short notice tickets as people sell off ones that they just realized they can't attend tend to go for that normal price. That is, if you want to either take a last minute trip or gamble that you can find tickets at the last second.

re: #307 buzzsawmonkey
Me too but even so it won’t mean much. Judges? We couldn’t get Judges appointed when we controlled both Houses of Congress. IIRC McCain didn’t help the situation, he made it worse. Now we can expect him to nominate a Scalia? If he did he wouldn’t get confirmed. What can McCain do if elected to stop the Lib’s agenda? Nothing, but what I fear is even worse than nothing, I fear his negotiating in the spirit of bipartisism that results in some “compromise” liberal light nominee. Please someone convince me that we shouldn’t let the next horribly socialistic and populist government be Democrat, if McCain is President the whole debacle will be laid at our door.
