Congressional Candidate Speaks to Nazis on Hitler's Birthday

Wed, Apr 23, 2008 at 12:02:39 pm PDT

Absolutely disgusting. Who let this Neanderthal into the Republican Party? Worst Campaign Idea Ever?

CROWN POINT, Ind. - If fans of Hitler held a party, and a candidate for federal office attended, would anybody notice?

Apparently, yes.

U.S. Congressional candidate Tony Zirkle is facing criticism from one of his primary opponents, and a host of people on the Internet, for speaking at an event over the weekend that celebrated Adolf Hitler’s birthday.

Zirkle confirmed to The News-Dispatch on Monday he spoke Sunday in Chicago at a meeting of the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party, whose symbol is a swastika.

When asked if he was a Nazi or sympathized with Nazis or white supremacists, Zirkle replied he didn’t know enough about the group to either favor it or oppose it. “This is just a great opportunity for me to witness,” he said, referring to his message and his Christian belief.

He also told WIMS radio in Michigan City that he didn’t believe the event he attended included people necessarily of the Nazi mindset, pointing out the name isn’t Nazi, but Nationalist Socialist Workers Party.

The Crown Point Republican spoke in front of about 56 “white activists” at an event honoring the birth of Hitler. The German leader was responsible for the genocide of millions of Jews and others during World War II.

Zirkle said the group asked him to speak to discuss the effect of pornography and prostitution on young, white women and girls. ...

When asked if meeting with Nazis was a danger to his political career, Zirkle said he was willing to take the chance.

“That’s the risk you have to take to get your point across,” Zirkle said. “If the Black Panthers or the Jewish Zionists want me to speak about these issues, I’ll do it.”

Interesting question. How does one get "credentialed", so to speak, as a Republican candidate? Honest question - I have no idea.

In any event, the party really needs to revoke his membership and take away his decoder ring, yesterday.

Last thread I was mocking the ignorance of Zirkle, or perhaps feigned ignorance, that Nazis aren't the same as Nationalist Socialist Workers Party.

But it appears the reporter wasn't too sure either, else why they need to point out the symbol is a swastika? Everyone knows the swastika is the Nazi symbol. (Not everyone knows it had other previous meanings).

But this following sentence almost seems as if the reporter is trying to make the connection between the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party and Nazis by using the symbol. Meaning he/she doesn't understand they are one and the same.

Zirkle confirmed to The News-Dispatch on Monday he spoke Sunday in Chicago at a meeting of the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party, whose symbol is a swastika.

Well here in Washington state the legislature decided it would be dang peachy if you decided if you got the big (R) after your name or not. Parties shmarties. Couple that with the change to top two primary vote getters go on the ballot.

Given the left-leaning politics of this state, and a couple of ringers ready to go in as the "republican" candidate, suddenly you have a split R vote both of which don't get enough votes. Bingo! Two democrats on the final ballot. I can see it coming already.

Either way, he's unfit to hold the office of dog-catcher, let alone whichever one he is actually running for.

In terms of the "human moby" theory, I don't really think its possible to sink the candidacy of someone by running as a complete jag-off of the same nominal party.

Buchanan didn't stop Bush. Ron Paul hasn't capsized McCain, etc.

If you are Republican running for office, for example, its very easy to say "This guy may be a Jackass, but he doesn't represent either me OR my party!".

Unlikely, but I think it's much ado about nothing. The guy is a primary candidate, with two other GOPers vying for the seat, one of whom looks the most likely to garner the nomination.

Anyone can pay a filing fee, gather signatures, and run for a party's nomination. That he chose to do so under the banner of the GOP is no more reflective of the Republican Party than it would be of Democrats if whoremonger David Vitter decided to resign and run for the Democratic nomination for his seat. It is very fair to hold parties accountable for who they nominate. I don't think it's particularly fair to do so for people who decide they want to try to be the party's nominee. Anyone can do that if they so desire.

... if an individual makes too much money, at some point, he/she will choose to produce less ...The Republican Party platform is promoting the increasing disparity between the wealthy and the poor ....I will vote for no more tax cuts for billionaires....the Republicans are actually raising taxes by devaluing the dollar...If you have voted democratic before and you do not agree with everything it is promoting, you are invited to vote for me in the primary. Google the surname Zirkle. Very interesting hits on the genealogy. Family tree runs straight back to Germany.

Co-inky-dink? I think not!

Thats exactly what I was thinking, without checking: suspiciously Germanic name, down to the spelling.

Oh, and shug, 'God damn america' in German is 'Gott verfluche Amerika'.

The "commander" of the organization, Bill White, issued a statement and an endorsement of Zirkle after stories started popping up about the candidate's participation in their birthday bash:

"The criticism that Mr. Zirkle has received for his actions is pure wickedness, fed by a libertine and thoroughly Judaized ruling class which sees the white working poor as mere toys for their pleasure and exploitation. By linking the struggle against the sexual exploitation of the white working poor to the struggle against the economic exploitation of the white working poor, Mr. Zirkle has done our society a service, and we urge the voters of Indiana's 2nd Congressional District to nominate him as the Republican Candidate for Congress."

It gets better.

White continues: "We further warn those inclined to denigrate this good man to cease and desist their efforts, before we are compelled to launch another Leonard Pitts or Jena 6 style protest campaign in the South Bend area. I also remind certain DC bloggers that I have been known to either come to the homes of or send others to the homes of blowhards to discuss their inappropriate commentary, and continue that inclination."

Carter: Rice Not Telling Truth About Hamas Warning

Because all those screaming newspaper headlines about "State Tells Carter not to Meet with Hamas" etc, just weren't enough.

From the White House:

Q Thank you, Dana. Two questions. The AP in Kuwait quotes Secretary of State Rice as saying, "The United States is not going to deal with Hamas. And we had certainly told President Carter that we did not think meeting with Hamas was going to help." And my question: Since the result of this telling was that Mr. Carter proceeded directly to violate this U.S. policy and meet with these terrorists, what is President Bush prepared to do to put an end to this one-man defiance of our policy which so gratified the terrorists?

MS. PERINO: Well, former President Carter is a private citizen, and he made a decision to not comply with what the State Department asked him to do. What I think the President would focus on is, if you go back to what reportedly Hamas said to former President Carter, that they were willing to take these steps for peace, that the very next day, that they went ahead and murdered many people at the Gaza crossing. And I think actions speak louder than words, and we remain very concerned about the situation. That's why Secretary Rice was in the region.

Q If the President, as our nation's chief law enforcer, fails to order Mr. Carter's passport revoked, how many more people like Carter may want to plot U.S. policy in this regard, do you imagine?
-------------------------------------------------- -------------

Good question. Too bad Perino made a smart-ass answer:

MS. PERINO: I don't know, you'll have to take a national survey.

TONY ZIRKLE FOR CONGRESS

PRESS RELEASE: IMMIGRATION and SOCIAL REFORM
MARCH 24, 2006

Amended March 29, 2006

“FROM DEAD BEAT TO THE BORDER BEAT”

“ZIRKLE PROPOSES BORDER DRAFT FOR CHILD SUPPORT DODGERS”

1. Immigration Reform.

In my 2004 Congressional race, I stated that we will never solve the illegal immigration problem unless we grant concurrent jurisdiction to local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws. Objectors often state that the undocumented will then fail to cooperate with local law enforcement. My answer is to provide local county prosecutors with visa granting authority to stay deportation for material witnesses to felony and certain misdemeanor crimes such as domestic violence.

No one is calling for the deportation of millions, so the answer has to be a one-time final amnesty with real enforcement for future law breakers. However, we must first secure the borders.

Stage 1: I am proposing to re-introduce the draft for child support dodgers. The first to be drafted will be those who have children out of wedlock with 20 or more women...

His rant on Antisemitism is incomprehensible but worth looking at, scroll down almost to the bottom of the page:

Tony Zirkle says: “That’s the risk you have to take to get your point across,” Zirkle said. “If the Black Panthers or the Jewish Zionists want me to speak about these issues, I’ll do it.”

I'm guessing he won't be getting an invitation though.

More Zirkle "Republican" ideas.

The standard mantra is that the democrats are for the poor and labor and that the republicans are for the rich and business.

I'm for the middle class.

My economic platform is both pro-business and pro-labor. I want to expand the middle class by placing a constitutional cap on personal wealth at one billion dollars. While kids are starving in Japan and even in the U.S., no one deserves to inherit over a billion dollars.

Spermatorrhea
R.N. Barr

In vain we scan the springs of human woe,
To find a deadlier or more cruel foe
To erring man, than this sad self-pollution,
This damaging wrecker of his constitution.
In its foul march it tramples vigor down,
Darkens the soul, usurps the mental throne,
Prays upon the vitals of its filthy slave,
And drags him early to a hopeless grave.
Could this truth to all be known and foreseen,
A sea of misery would be spared the world,
And hell's own engine from the land be hurled.

The fire of heaven on Onan quickly fell,
Cursed was the culprit ere he sank to hell,
Brief was the period 'twist the noxious deed
And the dread chastisement, pollution's meed.
Just as certain now as then, is the indulger undone,
Not by ethereal stroke as there we see,
Bur equal in effect and certainty,
For death results although by slow degree.

Ohio Medical and Surgical Journal.

Zirkle's message doesn't seem to be eliciting much beyond mockery so far this year. Only six people showed up for a recent debate featuring Zirkle, which Puckett skipped. At a discussion board on his campaign Web site, Zirkle is virtually the only author. Less than half of the 11 posts (all started by Zirle) generated any response, and only one other person posted anything at all.

I don't think people here would be upset at anyone sharing their faith in the hopes of changing hearts from evil towards good. There is just really no evidence that this is what is happening here. The man is running for political office, and it is apparent from his website that not only is he a nut, but also that he has little or no support from the community. What he is doing is not witnessing, it is pandering.

It's okay if he wants to do that (try to convert their hearts) as an average Joe, but as a congressional candidate, it just looks stupid.

When asked if he was a Nazi or sympathized with Nazis or white supremacists, Zirkle replied he didn’t know enough about the group to either favor it or oppose it. “This is just a great opportunity for me to witness,” he said, referring to his message and his Christian belief.

My electric stapler of course uses a hydrogen fuel cell, in order to save the planet.

Seriously. Bullshit.

Zirkle ain't Christian, wasn't "witnessing," and does not deserve your speaking on his behalf.

He's a fuckin neo-nazi.

Godwins Law does not apply.

I'm too old for you Lance. But Occasional Reader may be interested. :)

I'm afraid, much to OR's dismay, that I'm not gay.

re: #424 Ringo the Gringo

The man is nuts.

According to this article, Zirkle's middle name is HVFVGPD, which stands for: “Homeless Vet Fluke Versus The Great Porn Dragon.”

Golly Moses ! That's MY middle name too!

How ironic is that?

re: #393 Ecclesiastes

Paint-right,

I'm not being any more sarcastic than any body jumping on Zirkle's case.

Obviously, y'all don't like Christians.

I call "bullshit" on this. No one is this thick.
