Israeli Ambassador Calls Former President Carter 'Bigot'

NEW YORK — Israel's ambassador to the United Nations called former President Jimmy Carter "a bigot" for meeting with the leader of the militant Hamas movement in Syria.

Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, "went to the region with soiled hands and came back with bloody hands after shaking the hand of Khaled Mashaal, the leader of Hamas," Ambassador Dan Gillerman told reporters at a luncheon briefing Thursday.

Is this entirely politics that's causing this? How much is weather, how much is politics? In over 100 years, we haven't seen a food crisis that wasn't political.

What about this one? Because I am seriously concerned that by June, we may be looking at a real food crisis.

A great deal is political, in America and Europe, marginally productive winter wheat and soy land is in ethanol corn at incredibly energy inefficient expense. In CA rice is facing a water shortage. The Australian, Filipino, Thai rice harvest was bad because of weather. But Argentina and South Africa have implemented export tariffs that not only have shrunk acreage, but have kept surpluses off the world market. No one wants to eat the filth the goons of China foist on us (lawsuit in mail) because of corruption. Russia is a basket case for Ag. Zimbabwe, the bread basket of Africa, is in bad shape. India is inefficient and has no roads because the government is incompetent or corrupt. Italy has had a mediocre year for both rice and wheat. And America, the worlds wheat reserve is at a decade low with acreage diminishing. I all ready got my rice.

California confuses me, because I can't see how we're facing a drought. I live here; we had good rain, and a very good snow pack. There shouldn't be a drought!

Clinton Blitz

Are you ready, Howard? Aha.
Nancy? Yeah!
Chuck? OK.
Alright, fellas, let's go!

Oh it's been getting so hard
Campaigning with the things you do to me, aha
My dreams are getting so strange
I'd see Senators Barack and Hillary
I see a man named Barack
As a matter of fact his ego is as big as the sun
And a girl in the corner lets no one ignore her
'Cause she thinks she's the electable one

Oh, yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the Dems were all seething, and they all started grieving

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man named Barack said
Everyone attack and it turned into a Clinton blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz

They're reaching out for something
She hasn't got the delegates she needs
He softly says she's no good
She claims that he is just to young to lead, aha
Now the man named Barack
Is ready to crack as he raises his hands to the sky
And the girl in the corner is New York's Senator
She could beat him with a wink of her eye

Oh yeah, it was electric, so frightfully hectic
With the delegates voting, so those two would stop posing

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man named Barack said
Everyone attack and it turned into a Clinton blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz

Oh, yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was fighting
And the Dems were all seething, and they all started leaving

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man named Barack said
Everyone attack and it turned into a Clinton blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz
Clinton blitz

It's it's a Clinton blitz
It's it's a Clinton blitz

It's just to avoid a price rise of 10% a year or thereabouts, not that there will be riots or even shortages. I'd rather have mine fresh, thank you.

Of COURSE food prices are going up, because $100 oil is still working its way through the system. Real inflation this year may be three times what the government admits. Thank goodness for falling real-estate values, right? But that won't last - BECAUSE of the oil prices.

They call dis a system?

80 madmax517  Thu, Apr 24, 2008 7:42:40pm

re: #39 Dianna

Apparently, drought has wrecked some crop harvests world-wide, including Oz. Heard we should expect oil price to double within four years. Why not end the 1/3 of US corn designated for ethanol production? And then there are those people who are now hoarding. Apparently west coasters are making a run on rice. And Filipinos here shipping rice back home to needy relatives who can't even get it at any price. And Indians with a dot and Chinese are moving up financially and thus eating better.

This blog does a great job controlling trolls. Some sites seem overrun with nasty trolls though. Wonder what prevents likes of nodrog from registering here again using a different PC?

Got a recent e-mail from Kenya asserting that Obama is a racist and Muslim working with his cousin there, Raila. Anyone know if BHO full name is really Barack Hussein Muhammed Obama? Anyway the letter claims US media is covering for Obama? Say it ain't so. Could the likes of Olberdork and Sissy Matthews really be in tank for the Messiah? From what I've seen much of media thinks Gibson and Stephanoupolis were way biased against BHO. Oh, and there are claims that not one mosque in Kenya has been burned, but that hundreds of churches were burned down, some with people inside them, burned alive. I know little was ever said in US media about those Muslim riots all over France and have to wonder what the truth is in Kenya and with Obama.

Yeah. The Sacramento rice fields which supply all of America, including Hawaii, Micronesia, and Polynesia with the highest quality medium grain, is in the very sensitive famine belt. And there are other enviro concerns that mandate the rivers must flow.

re: #82 pat

I mean SALMON belt. BTW these enviro concerns are real, not BS.

The problem is the state has water concerns, heck, all of the world is having fresh water concerns, with population, industrialization, and maybe a touch of "climate change" all contributing. Rice takes a LOT of water, cut back rice cultivation even 20%, and you can run all the cities in California for another ten years. But can't they plant more rice down south, or somewhere, it's not exactly rocket science.

re: #80 madmax517

Apparently, drought has wrecked some crop harvests world-wide, including Oz. Heard we should expect oil price to double within four years.

Only if the dollar gets that weak, the real price of oil should stabilize below $100 when the Canada oil sands and other new sources come online. But for us in the US, yes, the dollar could get that weak. We'll see.

Apparently west coasters are making a run on rice. And Filipinos here shipping rice back home to needy relatives who can't even get it at any price.

That's gotta be nutz, buying rice at retail and paying retail shipping costs.

This blog does a great job controlling trolls. Some sites seem overrun with nasty trolls though. Wonder what prevents likes of nodrog from registering here again using a different PC?

It should be borne in mind that Obama chose to be Black.

He could have said, “Hey, my father was Kenyan, my mother is white, I’m an American.” None of his ancestors, none of his experience, had anything to do with Black America.

Instead, he chose, evidently at Occidental, to embrace it, for reasons which can only be construed as cynical and careerist. Clearly, he chose well.

Now if Abu Mazen could just get this rumor started amongst the Hamaserati..........could demoralize 'em in a weekend.

To be fair (no pun intended), he really didn't have a lot of practical choice on the face of it, regardless of his mother's ethnicity.

Hello, everyone. Has this been posted yet for discussion?

Until Israel whacked it in September.

Son of Osirak strikes again. (Yay).
I saw the pictures this afternoon, and it looked pretty damned complete to me ....not that I have a clue what a functioning Syrian nuke plant/missile site would actually look like.
What does Jimmy Carter say? Let him inspect the site, because if it was in fact a baby milk factory, Carter will be sure to suss that out.

re: #95 tradewind

tradewind, hi. Jimmy Carter should definitely be consulted. He'll want to meet with the Syrian nuke czar, help them get that project back on track. Maybe he'll manage to arrange an e-meeting with Abdominable-bob and Meshaal, make sure they're all on board. Since they're all so harmless and good-natured.

Yikes!

There's been another bridge closing here in Minnesota.

Update—after an especially warm spring day, MN-DOT inspectors discovered that one set of bridge bearings had once again reached its stop bracket. The stop bracket limits how far the bearing can slide, and it prevents the bridge from sliding off of the pier and falling into the water. Once the span hit the stop bracket, forces from the heating and cooling of the span apparently pushed the problem pier two inches further out of plumb. It also caused some bolts on the structure to shear off. As a result, MN-DOT closed the bridge at 10AM on Friday, April 25, 2008.
