At least Fox won't keep trying to kiss BO's ass before, during, and after the interview.

Too funny? A little envy there?

Does anyone else find it strange Obama is willing to go on a Fox news interview, but is afraid to debate Hillary?

/just thinking out loud...

6 cjstavern  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 3:48:43pm

If Obama can't handle Chris Wallace how in the world can he handle al Qaeda, Hamas, North Korea, Iran, etc.....?

7 vapig  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 3:50:27pm

Well - they've had a pretty effective news blackout on Fox so far. Politicians who black out News Networks are also telling those who watch those networks they are not looking for THEIR vote. They will not REPRESENT them.

He's also frustrated because he desperately wants to be married to his female co-host.

The last time I checked, Barak Obama is free to go on whatever TV show or network he damn well pleases.

Someone wasn't present when the milk and cookies were passed around, it seems.

11 RTLM  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 3:54:51pm

If the Dems want to get their word out they SHOULD go on Fox News. IIIRCV it has the highest ratings of any cable news channel.

12 mikeinmd  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 3:56:48pm

More people will read the transcript between Newsbusters and LGF than actually watched the show.

My favorite part is where he says Obama is "Legitemizing" Fox by going on, even if he is going after them! Thats a good one, lol
It amazes me how bag'o'hammer dumb some of these "well respected" journalists and pundits are! And these are the idiots who refer to the president as stupid.

Oh, I don't know about that. Fox is somewhat schizophrenic, and they may very well have instructions from above (read Lord Rupert) to treat Obama with "respect" since it's all part of being "fair and balanced."

(Somewhat OT- in it's broadcast division, Fox has 'gone green' and embraced everything environmental, which some see as a sign that Murdoch expects a Democrat to be elected in November. Watch your local Fox news for their features on saving energy. Many of the reports are somewhat laughable.)

24 Ojoe  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 4:01:28pm

I don't think he should be doing an interview, not because it's going to be hard, not because he can't answer the questions, but and because the network has made a campaign out of going after him and mentioning Reverend Wright as often as they can as FOX News.

Fixed it.

Hillary was on Fox & Friends this past week, beaming to all the bitter viewers.

Terry McCauliffe thanked Fox News for being the first to call Hillary the winner after the PA polls closed.

FOX is where the eyeballs are!

26 Tazzerman  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 4:03:36pm

What a riot and what an echo chamber these morons live in. As if ABC, NBC, CBS and MSNBC haven't been regurgitating the Rev. Wright thing over and over and over again. Hmm, only FOX News is doing that eh? Riiiiiight!

They're just typical 'progressives'. Completely intolerant of ANY other view but their own, totally incapable of even FATHOMING the thought that others might hold opinions that differ from their own high and mighty dictum's ..

They are SO pathetic!

Lord help us if Hillary or Obama win AND the dems hold congress. We will once again be forced back into fairyland just like we were during 8 years of Bill Clinton.

27 snowcrash  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 4:04:18pm

Chris Wallace is no Chrissy Matthews. He will have Obama up against the ropes quickly but if Obama can hold his own he will gain respect. I think Obama will go into his "rambling answers" mode but Wallace will stay focused. Have to check the newspaper for the time it's showing, it will be good.

You gotta admit though Obama has gotten some good zingers in at Hillary's expense--remember when she was cackling at him during one debate, and he stopped her short by saying "When I'm president I'll ask you too for advice, Hillary?"

Obama can do a soundbite that stings. He shouldn't be underestimated because he's been tired or on the mat recently. Obama has street smarts as a product of the Chicago machine.

A panel of Abrams, Kim, and Sekoff makes a scale go KLUNK.

At MSNBC, that is called balanced.

I'm just surprised that Sekoff didn't pile on.

43 gman  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 4:17:18pm

Obama's whining about all of his "distractions," but in my opinion I think up until recently Obama has been handled with kid gloves. In the beginning, everyone was afraid to criticize Obama for fear of being labeled a racist. Now, people are beginning to realize that we are getting ready to elect the future leader of this country and we better make damn sure we've got the right person for the job. It's time for the kid gloves to come off and time for unfettered public scrutiny of Obama's actions and affiliations.

44 MJ  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 4:17:35pm

The sad part is that Dan Abrams is one of the people over at MSNBC who isn't an outright antisemite. This is the network which features the Jew-hating Chris Matthews as well Holocaust denier Pat Buchanan.
Abrams has even made some pro-Israel statements on this show, something which is unheard of by the rest of those Jew-haters at MSNBC.

Did you see the last debate? He looked foolish and uncomfortable. As for his street smarts, he is smart if the street is high street. He went to Punahou School from the fifth grade until his graduation in 1979. Then he moved to Los Angeles, where he studied at Occidental College for two years. Then he went to Columbia University in New York City, where he majored in political science with a specialization in international relations. Then he went to Harvard.

I don't see the street cred.

I think Obama has been allowed to ascend in his career without any serious vetting. Or hard work.

46 venjanz  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 4:20:38pm

This is a brilliant political move for Obama. If so he comes off well, it quite a coup. He went straight in to the mouth of evil and took it to The Man.

If he does poorly, he can just say that he was set up by the evil neo-cons. It's Fox, what did you expect? I'm trying to bring change blah blah blah.

47 brickthruplateglasswindow  Sat, Apr 26, 2008 4:23:51pm

He really has no choice but to "appear" on Fox. Otherwise, think of the 15 second campaign spot this fall from the Pubbies....

Start spot-
Cut to black bkgrd, large white letters & voice over: "If Bockobama is afraid of this...."

Fade In: Full screen Fox News Logo...

Cut to black bkgrd, large white letters & voice over: "How could he possibly deal with this...?"

(No sound, pics only)
Cut to rapid, full screen, 1/2 second bursts of: masked men waving AK's, formations of marching NK soldiers, lines of cars @ gas stations, a smiling Kim Jong Il, more masked men waving more AK's, a smiling, waving Ahm-a-dinner-jacket in his member's only jacket, a baby crying, US soldiers saluting the flag, and a nuclear explosion.

Freeze on: full screen on a large red phone on a wooden desk.
(phone starts and continues to ring)
Fade to black, phone still ringing.

Paid for by Americans yearning for a real "John Wayne" President, and not a whiny Leftist pretender.
-End spot.

If Obama can't handle a free press where the only thing on the line is opinion and MAYBE (if things are really bad) the nomination of your party, how is he supposed to handle a complex and ever-changing geo-political situation, where REAL lives hang in the balance and nations may go to war over decisions?

It sounds to me like Abrams doesn't have very much faith (or whatever leftys call it) in his candidate.

This is the comment I left at Newsvine on MSNBC

Abrams calling what he does reporting is like a stripper calling what she does ballet. He is one of the biggest propaganda-spewing ideologues on MSNBC. Olby is the only one bigger. His "response" to Rove is full of demands to prove negatives and come on his show. What a weasel. The only one who would benefit is...Abrams. He has to try to legitimize his allegations. He has no proof. He just wants a shot at Rove. What a tool.

That won't quite do as an explanation in my eyes. He flat out lied in his articles. He did that to get ahead, not out of anger. He was given a raw deal at the NYT, I agree. But he deserved to be fired for what he did.

Ah yes, yard boy Maddow. A classic example of unbiased professional journalism. Not.

WEEKDAY BANTERING IS BALANCED BY QUIET NEW ENGLAND WEEKENDS

WEST CUMMINGTON Fridays at noon, when she's completed another week's political battles on the national airwaves and ceded the microphone to Al Franken, Rachel Maddow retreats to her black Subaru Forester and heads, with her partner, Susan Mikula, from Manhattan to the Merritt Parkway, past Hartford, to Northampton, where she stops for groceries, and eventually lands in the West Cummington house she has called home for the past four years.

A co-host of Unfiltered, Air America Radio's morning show, Maddow has been leading a dual urban/rural lifestyle since the liberal talk-radio network launched last March.Mikula, a diehard gardener, artsy photographer, and part-time accountant, closed on the vintage (1865) rectangular box of a house in December 1998 as part of her bid to leave apartment life in Northampton for the isolation of a small village. Four months later, Maddow walked into her life after Mikula told mutual friends she needed a "yard boy" to help her manage the demands of a creaky old structure that had stood empty for almost a year as well as the 2 acres of vegetation that were threatening to take over.

"Zing went the heartstrings," according to both of them, when Maddow, 31, a Rhodes Scholar and gay activist, arrived for the job. Maddow had moved to the area to write her doctoral dissertation comparing AIDS policies in the California and British prison systems, but also needed to earn some money. A year-and-a-half later, on Halloween, she moved in.

Yes, she's a yard boy in a town called West Cummington just outside Northampton MA, and she actually called her radio show Unfiltered. You can't make this stuff up.

Wow. A more comprehensive advertisement to inform the Left wannabes of the "approved" lifestyle could not be found.
correct job : Left radio
correct combo: Manhattan/pretend rural
correct combo: two residences
correct car: Subaru
correct color: black
correct orientation: Lesbian
correct route: Merrit Parkway, via Northampton (no stinking interstate - go the "scenic" route)
correct weekend location: West Cummington
correct pursuits: artsy photographer, gardening, (accountant - alas, but third in line even though it probably makes the most money - a blemish in the perfection here, but easily dealt with as "part-time" ...)
correct house: "vintage" fixer-upper
So, the dope did it all and then couldn't handle the reality of the magazine image: "creaky" read: old empty (unliveable) and overgrown yard. So much for avid gardener. Probably bought high end price-wise,too and didn't have much left over for needed repairs.
Required: male to get the place under control, but that's not chi-chi.
correct spouse: Lesbian "male"
correct education creds: Rhodes Scholar
correct dissertation: anything to do with AIDS
correct excuse for flying between two favorite places on someone else's dime: California and British
correct angle to make it seem legit, somehow "tough": prisons
correct occupation: "activist"
correct holiday to make it all seem so cosmically perfect: Halloween.

nasty bigotry on display: "yard boy"
