Rev. Wright in Full, Unedited Context

Sun, Apr 27, 2008 at 9:54:57 am PDT

The full video of Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s now-infamous “God Damn America” sermon has been posted by Fox News here, in three parts: Sermon Video Presents Obama’s Former Pastor in His Own Words.

Watch the whole thing—because despite the outcry from mainstream media and Obama supporters (there’s a difference?) that Wright’s vile comments were taken out of context, when you watch his complete sermon it’s even worse.

And now we have more examples of completely in-context hate speech, from other sermons by Rev. Wright, at Hugh Hewitt’s blog: Providing Context For Reverend Wright: The New Audio Of His Sermons.

Fox News is America's biggest enemy!

2 rawmuse  Sun, Apr 27, 2008 9:57:57am

True. I have not seen the vids, but I got the podcast last week (thanks Hugh Hewitt). I doubt if I can stomach this stuff one more time. Here are the bullet points.

1) Whitey is a devil with a his boot on our necks.
2) Whitey OWES us.
3) Pay up, sucka.
4) It's all in the Bible.

3 VegasRick  Sun, Apr 27, 2008 9:58:03am

Next he'll say "You really need to put that into context".

How's the move into the new house going, Rev ?

5 vapig  Sun, Apr 27, 2008 9:58:23am

What concerns me most about the Wrong Rev Wright is not only his cheering parishioners, but also know he's not the only one out there preaching this tripe.

This sermon was taken out of context!

Obama is finished

9 godfrey  Sun, Apr 27, 2008 9:59:55am

A couple decades of hearing this kind of thing and tens of thousands of dollars later, Obama wants to be President of the USA and for everyone to look the other way.

Fat f-in chance, bro.

Yes. The next line of retreat for Wright's defenders will likely be to say that you can't understand him if unless you listen to about a year's worth of sermons.

I hate to state the obvious, but in Demspeak whining they were taken out of context really means they were quoted accurately and they just got caught. That's patently unfair.

Its typical leftist dribble. America is evil and no one else is.

What Wright preaches is no different than what the KKK preaches in its hate filled meetings.

Its really ironic and tragic that leftie nutcases and KKK hatemongers are both truthers and America haters.

And the reason is simple. AMerica doesnt want to live in their hate filled world so it is America that is "Evil" because it doesnt accept their evil.

People talk . When one person has seen with his own eyes what Rev Wright is saying in a full sermon, they will forward the video on to others or mention it at work etc. Once it's on Fox - it will go quickly to You Tube. And having this video easily available on Fox makes it easier to find to forward. Especially with the younger generation - seeing things on video has a huge impact - this sermon on video will not help Obama.

The reason is the transparency of the societies: Iran, a non-transparent society with no free media outlets, US is a transparent society with lots of free and independent media outlets including blogs and radio talk shows. First I would never go to a church like that, despite the fact the Rev Wright claims all churches are like his. I could not imagine singing praise and worship songs about Gods grace and mercy and unfailing love only to be followed by that bullshit hatred and the more I hear that sermon in its full context the more I hate the man and his church.

Just 5 days after the 9/11 attacks, I would have found it very difficult not to bum-rush the pulpit and start be-atch slapping Rev Wrong. Like the be-atch he is.

Hate sells, just look at his 10 million dollar home.

If black people (taken as a whole) really are being fed this kind of ignorant bullshit every Sunday in church, we as a nation are in very serious trouble.

That business about Jesus under occupation of Roman "urban warfare" soldiers was a bunch of fact-free, ignorant bullshit.

We would do well to take all of these demagogue types, regardless of affiliation or color, and put them out the collective national airlock.

We went out to dinner last night with 2 liberal couples ( I actually behaved myself ,although it took a fair amount of scotch). One of our friends teaches high school English in a predominantly Black School. She said she has noticed a dramatic increase in anti-white and anti-semitic sentiment recently. I don't think it would be a stretch to start connecting the dots?

And note in his post 9-11 sermon he kept referring to Italians...Pontius Pilate as Italian and other Italian issue....

So Rev Wright is against Italians? Italophobia ?

Historically speaking, that is inaccurate. Romans and Italians are two distinct people. The Romans took over the entire Italian peninsula and the rest of the known 'civilized' Mediterranean world and Italians came much later.

It is disturbing enough Rev Wright is into revisionist history to fit a certain worldview. And he is spreading into his megachurch.

re: #130 Pawn of the Oppressor Um, not trying to be argumentative here, but how's he gonna say that now - I mean, in what context? That SOME Blacks are being anti-White and/or anti-Semitic in private?
I do think he's trying to cut it too close to the edge with the Rev. Wright and he could much more clearly disavow what Wright has said and explicity say he disagrees with it, but I just don't see Obama doing that not necessarily for what Wright has said, but because Wright has obviously been a close friend.

Bitch is the New Black
NBC’s first post-strike Saturday Night Live, hosted by former cast member and head writer Tina Fey, delivered solidly political material, and was rewarded with the show’s highest overnight rating in two years, up 36 percent from the show’s pre-strike average this season.

The show presented a spoof of the latest CNN debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, riffing off the concept that the media is “totally in the tank” with Obama. Kristen Wiig, portraying Campbell Brown, visibly orgasmed after hearing Obama’s response to a question from Jorge Ramos (identified on screen as “Univision Anchor/Obama Stalker,” and played by Will Forte): “Are you mad at me? ... I was afraid you might be mad at me because, you know, all the shilling for you in my campaign coverage has been so obvious, and because I spend every night sitting in front of your house in a parked car.” The panelists then ignored and insulted Hillary Clinton, played by Amy Poehler.

You know, it has always seemed rather strange to me, the product of a Yankee father and a Southern Lady mother, raised half in one area of the country and half in the other, that most of the real racists I have ever encountered - of any color - live in the NORTH, not the south.

I've lived in the Northeast and now Texas and found racists in the south, as well as the north. It shocked me how casual they are about it in the south, though. (Of course it's all in the name of HUMOR that they're saying their racist stuff, so it's alright. At least that's their excuse)

I will say that the racism is a lot more angry and hostile in the north, so it is much more jarring and in your face.

I do not know
Leave abortion decision to a woman, her doctor, and her god
But let me say, more generally, that the significant difference here on this issue is that Al Gore and I respect and will protect a woman’s right to choose and our opponents will not. We know that this is a difficult, personal, moral, medical issue. But that is exactly why it ought to be left, under our law, to a woman, her doctor and her god.

That a strawman argument. Conservatives have only been annoyed at having taxpayer dollars used to fund it. If Rove vs Wade is overturned it's because it's bad law. It won't outlaw abortion - merely throw it back to the states to decide. Where it should have rested in the first place.

We aren't going to get into a Forbidden Subject here. All I will say is that, unless you believe in the deconstructionists' hallugenic interpretation of the Constitution, the abortion issue should be decided by the states. Even extreme lefties who normally applaud judicial activism admit it was a terrible decision. (See Lawrence Tribe, e.g.) This should never have been a federal issue.

266 JHW  Sun, Apr 27, 2008 12:15:45pm

From his "sermon"

We said in our founding documents as a government, we hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal. Created, that means God, and endowed with a certain inalienable right, that means given by God. And then we define Africans in those same documents are 3/5ths of a person. We believe God approved of African slavery.

It`s too bad that either he hasn`t figured out or willfully distorts the fact that abolitionists and anti-slavery people fought against slaves being counted at all for the purposes of proportional representation, and the slave holders wanted them fully counted as persons, but not treated as such, for gaining more representatives in Congress and more political power than they were entitled to.

Not entirely true - we put women away when their children have actually made it out of the birth canal and their mother's kill them.

The hypocrisy I see is when the law allows the murder when the child has already made it 3/4 of the way and the mother kills it.

Also, we have several states that prosecute men for double homicide when the mother is pregnant. She doesn't even have to KNOW she's pregnant and the creep who kills her gets a double whammy charge against him.

Seems a bit inconsistant to me.

Whether McCain is a conservative or not isn't the point.
McCain is the only thing this country has standing between Obama and the White House.

Many people here are not happy with McCain, but it doesn't make any sense to start trashing him him at this juncture. Get him elected first, then have at him.

I have to disagree. Trashing him & not voting for him are not the same thing. He was very haughty & disrespectful & does not himself rate respect now.

But...
McCain is not a conservative either

True. But he is considerably more conservative than Lieberman.
I personally care far less what someone "believes" and what they say than how they vote. To take a glaring example, Obama says he is a "moderate" on abortion issues and "understands" the other side. Cute. Nice. Fuzzy. But he won't even vote for the Born-Alive Baby Act, which Boxer, Hillary, Kennedy, et al. voted for, and which even NARAL supported as acceptable. (The Illinois bill Obama opposed was identical to the federal one.)

McCain needs to shut up & stay out of sight. He is the default candidate & has to rely on the Democrats destroying themselves.
Every time McCain surfaces people remember what the don't like about him.
It is unfortunate , but he has to attend the Republican Convention & the Presidential debates.

It's interesting that while everyone is focused on the Dem convention, the Republican Convention is expected to be dry and unremarkable. I don't doubt the prevailing wisdom there, but I'll be interested in observing the tenor of it. Will the party go all out shill and beat the band for McCain, or will the revelry be more measured? I wish the thing would be a brutal interrogation but I'd be concerned if it turns out to be an utterly conventional convention. Even if it is, it may serve as a lesson against such trashing of party standards in the future.

1) Context. This is a bizarre argument, because the more context is added to Wright's statements, the WORSE he looks. And yet, the left argues context. If you provide a quote, they say the passage needs to be quoted. If you quote the passage, they say the sermon made it clear that you were wrong. If you quote the sermon, they appeal to the whole body of work. If you provide more sermons, they change the subject.

2) North-South racism. I would say qualitatively different, for cultural reasons not inherently about race, at least for "casual racism."

In the North, it's all about respect, so people take umbrage, demand respect, etc. The worst thing you can be in the North is offensive. This looks like weakness to a Southron.

In the South, it's all about standing up for yourself and giving as good as you get. If a Good Ol' Boy makes a racist joke, and the black man beside him shoots back a clever rejoinder, it is likely to evoke (at least some) respect. The worst thing you can be in the South is a whiner. This looks like pervasive racism to a Northerner.

It's part of Southron culture to see how people respond to offense, as a means of judging their character. This is generally not true in the North.

Obviously, it's a different level of the game when you're talking about hard-core bigotry. It exists in both places, but in big cities in general and the North in particular, it tends to be a lot of ethnic groups hatin' on each other (Asian vs. Latino vs. Black gang culture in particular).

Sean Penn is fighting the war in Iraq, poverty, homelessness and saving the environment, all from a bus.

The actor, who baffled many when his name showed up on the lineup for the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival underway this weekend in southern California, plans to board a fleet of biodiesel buses and take about 300 people on an 1,800-mile trek across the U.S., ending in New Orleans.

Penn's brainchild, the Dirty Hands Caravan, will take off Monday and is expected to arrive in the Big Easy on May 4 for the city's annual jazz festival.

Biofuels threaten food access in Latin America: U.N.
BRASILIA (Reuters) - A global increase in biofuel production threatens to make food for Latin America's poor less accessible, a United Nations body said on Monday.

"In the short term, it is very probable that the rapid expansion of agrofuels at a world level has important effects on Latin America's agriculture," the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization said in a paper.

Growing biofuel output would compete with food crops for water, land and capital and thereby increase food prices and "put at risk access to food by the poorest sectors," the FAO said in a report presented at its conference for Latin America and the Caribbean.

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (Reuters) - Senate lawmakers in Florida have voted to ban the fake bull testicles that dangle from the trailer hitches of many trucks and cars throughout the state.

Republican Sen. Cary Baker, a gun shop owner from Eustis, Florida, called the adornments offensive and proposed the ban. Motorists would be fined $60 for displaying the novelty items, which are known by brand names like "Truck Nutz" and resemble the south end of a bull moving north.

guys, Lieberman is what he always claimed to be a CONSERVATIVE DEMOCRAT. He is not a liberal Republican and certainly not a conservative Republican and has never pretended otherwise.

He left the Democratic Party (actually, more like he was forced to leave...) because most of the Party activists and leaderships are 'progresssive' atheists (some of the politicians claim to believe in God but this is all bs and everyone in the party organization knows it).

I say this having worked briefly for the DNC, met Lieberman personally a couple times (not at the DNC) and I will still vote for Hillary or 3rd party come November (sorry guys, I respect your opinions, but we don't see eye to eye on most issues).

Joe Lieberman has never misrepresented himself as a (Republican) conservative and has been very careful not to alter his image for short term political gain. He is about as decent as politicians come.

What the fritx ?

Basically it's the educational corollary to the practice of effectively ceding control over parts of cities to the gangs in the interest of encouraging "good relations" between the races. Liberal white elites and their black elite friends and colleagues, all of whom send their kids to private schools, allow the worst kind of morons, nitwits, and race-warlords to run the public schools. No effort is made to correct historical wowsers, because that would be racist and insensitive.

As I said earlier, more disturbing than radical black nationalists (like Obama, his wife, "reverend" Wright, et. al.) are the rich white folks who enable them. As I posted this morning, they can share in the victimhood by saying "yes, I carry the horrible burden of my awful race around with me all the time, but I have transcended that, unlike the troglodytes with their god and guns and bowling. They need to pay taxes, and I'm happy to vote for punishing my inferiors for not being as enlightened (and having as good a staff of accountants) as I."

DADDY'S GONNA EAT YOUR FINGERS

I was packing for my business trip and my three year old daughter was having a wonderful time playing on the bed. At one point she said, 'Daddy, look at this' , and stuck out two of her fingers.

Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in my mouth and said ,
'Daddy's gonna eat your fingers,'
pretending to eat them.

I went back to packing, looked up again and my daughter was standing on the bed staring at her fingers with a devastated look on her face.

I said, 'What's wrong, honey?'

She replied,
'What happened to my booger?'
