Video - Rev. Wright: No Apologies for 'God D--- America'

Mon, Apr 28, 2008 at 1:06:52 pm PDT

Jeremiah Wright is asked whether he will apologize to the American people for saying “God damn America.”

You probably already know his answer, but the patronizing, mocking tone is a bonus.

re: #4 psaturn

I'm not so sure about that.

Someone else posted it on one of the many other threads earlier. If Obama gets elected, doesn't that sort of ruin his credibility in the poverty pimp/victimology business?

I think they had a point and I damn sure would bet that he understands that all too well.

27 coquimbojoe  Mon, Apr 28, 2008 1:14:18pm

I just can't get over the fact that he spews so much hate and people sit through it and call it religion. I know to each his own, and far be it from me to judge others belief systems, but I am truly dumbfounded at people finding this kind of bilge edifying......

28 Ben Hur  Mon, Apr 28, 2008 1:14:21pm

Not to the anti-Semite Wright.

Everytime you say, "Jesus said" you should be saying "Jesus read" because the love thy neighbor thing, and the do unto others thing is in the book of the evil Jooos, the TORAH, and that's what's he's reading.

He didn't make it up.

So it's kinda ironic, no?

29 Cygnus  Mon, Apr 28, 2008 1:14:22pm

Jesus never said 'G.D. Israel' - He specifically referred to the leaders.

30 shimauma  Mon, Apr 28, 2008 1:14:23pm

The problem with that is Obama's direct link to this man, it is how we know of his existence. He can only keep hurting Obama. I think he has come to like the attention, and could not care less about Obama now. Now, its all about him. Thankfully, the more you see him, the more he hurts Obama's campaign. Hopefully a knockout punch is on the way for Hillary too, I don't think she is electable either, but, we don't want to take any chances!

Rev Wright under the protection of the Nation of Islam. I am beginning to believe that Rev Wright is not a Christian at all but instead is a perpetrator of Taqiyya who's purpose is to destroy the proper practice of Christianity by poisoning his sermons to create divisions. Obama is likely one of his one of his disciples or vectors. If I was an Islamic supporter I would want to debase and distort Christian values in community so that and Aggressive and more focused "replacement" can easily fill the void.

I hope I'm wrong but I feel this in my gut that this whole Chicago, Ellis, farrakhan, and Ayers thing is a sham and a huge deception upon the citizens of America.

re: #60 eff plus

Deep down he doesn’t really want an apology, because if one came the entire demanding-an-apology grievance industry, including him, would be without a fundraising appeal.

I don't think he'd mind an apology - because the ability to grant, or not, forgiveness holds an amount of power in it. But if an apology is offered (and power granted unto him), it won't be enough; he will point out - correctly of course - that it is coming from the wrong place (all those people who should apologize - if anybody - are long, long dead).

There were a few suggestions in the last Wright thread that this may be past of the BH Obama strategy. Get Wright out of the way while Barry is ahead in delegates. Hillary cannot catch up. Then, while everyone's eyes are turned to the national election, make Wright mysteriously disappear into the background mist and focus all the attention on McCain's problems.

I wouldn't put it past the MSM to do exactly that. They are in love with Barry, and it's been their modus operandi in the past.

It is about the 4 people getting killed in a blast in Gaza. Originally Palestinian propagandist Ibrahim Barzak wrote something like Israeli shell kills 4... and the headline supported that. Does anyone have a screenshot of the story like that? It now has now been edited to say "Palestinians said the house was hit by an Israeli tank shell; Israel said explosives being carried by militants blew up and brought down the two-room structure." The rest of the article still follows the blame it on Israel theme. Wright tips hat to Jewish acquaintance

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. delivered greetings to a top American Jewish Committee staffer.

Speaking Sunday in Detroit to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Wright suggested that he had a broad base of allies in Chicago, where he is based.

Listing his supporters, he said, "I would also like to thank sister Melanie Maron, the former executive director of the Chicago chapter of the American Jewish Committee and the current executive director of the Washington, DC, chapter of the American Jewish Committee. I would like to thank my good friend and Jewish author Tim Wise for his support."

snip

"My position on Israel is that Israel has a right to exist; that Israelis have a right to exist, as I said, reconciled one to another," he said. "Palestinians and Israelis need to sit down and talk to each other and work out a solution where their children can grow in a world together and not be talking about killing each other; that that is not God's will. So my position is that Israel and the people of Israel be the people of God who are worrying about reconciliation and who are trying to do what God wants for God's people, which is reconciliation."

I guess he is a politician after all.

(the "Free Palestine!" sevant Wright activist in a former thread comes to mind)

216 Egfrow  Mon, Apr 28, 2008 1:43:02pm

From the article Voice of Doom! Washington Post.

Speaking before an audience that included Marion Barry, Cornel West, Malik Zulu Shabazz of the New Black Panther Party and Nation of Islam official Jamil Muhammad, Wright praised Louis Farrakhan, defended the view that Zionism is racism, accused the United States of terrorism, repeated his view that the government created the AIDS virus to cause the genocide of racial minorities, stood by other past remarks ("God damn America") and held himself out as a spokesman for the black church in America.

Here is where Ayer's idealogy fit's in.

He denounced those who "can worship God on Sunday morning, wearing a black clergy robe, and kill others on Sunday evening, wearing a white Klan robe." He praised the communist Sandinista regime of Nicaragua.

The more of his utterances are in the public domain - preferably on video - the more this will become clear: he's no Christian. Using snippets of Bible verses to browbeat your opponent shows that clearly.

The problem is more than Wright. It's Black Liberation Theology.

Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.

re: #157 doppelganglander

That'll happen right after I get apologies from Egypt for enslaving the Israelites and England for starving the Irish.

Actually, hate to say it, I think the British did apologize for starving the Irish.

There is a huge push for nationwide apologies going on across the globe. Some countries (usually left-o-fied countries) cave in, others don't.

Australia just apologized to Aborigines earlier this year for wrongs which (as Andrew Bolt pointed out) are entirely imaginary.

The US apologized to descendents of Japanese-Americans in WWII internment camps and actually paid reparations to them.

France apologized for something in the colonial past -- I forget what.

Germany apologized to the world for the whole Hitler phase.

Pope JPII apologized for various misdeeds during the Inquisition.

Members of the Botha government in South Africa apologized for Apartheid.

In none of these cases did the apology or payment stop the whining, the victim-game, the vilification of the putative oppressor.

Wright acts like if the US goverement apologized for slavery -- even though it was not the US governement's fault, or US policy, but state's policies -- then black nationalists like him would suddenly say, "Well alright then! Apology accepted! Now I love America and white people!" But of course any apologies/reparations would do nothing of the sort -- they would only increase the whining and demands for more groveling.

Turkey was asked to apologize for the Armenian genocide, and refused.

Japan was asked to apologize for the Rape of Nanking -- and refused.

And as much as I admit those two (as examples) episodes in history were horrific, I somewhat understand where Turkey and Japan are coming from, because the apology won't change anything.

The Turks say, "That was the Ottomans -- has nothing to do with modern Turkey." The Japanese say, "That was the Imperial pre-WWII government -- has nothing to do with modern Japanese government." And in a sense they're right.

Why should the present-day US government apologize for what individual states did 230 years ago?

Yes, Armenian genocide, Rape of Nanking, slavery -- all horrific. But it is not the fault of the current government or anyone still left alive.

Gal. 3 --
26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Col. 3 --
11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

Two verses with similar theme, which raises the importance of the message.

The message is there are no racial, class, status, gender distinctions in the church.

Anyone preaching distinctions is not preaching the Word of God.

Several African nations such as the Ashanti of Ghana and the Yoruba of Nigeria had economies largely depending on the trade. African peoples such as the Imbangala of Angola and the Nyamwezi of Tanzania would serve as intermediaries or roving bands warring with other African nations to capture Africans for Europeans. Extenuating circumstances demanding exploration are the tremendous efforts European officials in Africa used to install rulers agreeable to their interests. They would actively favor one African group against another to deliberately ignite chaos and continue their slaving activities.[3].

I post this historical evidence not to excuse or apologize for European and American slavery, but to point out the fact that slavery has existed in all parts of the world for many centuries. Specifically, slavery was practiced by Africans and continues their today.

Farrakhan's NOI actively spreads the propaganda that there is no genocide in Darfur. They defend the Islamist regime in Sudan even while they enslave the black Africans of Darfur.

Um. Was "Empress Teta" supposed to be singular or plural?

In addition to being a word for Spanish boobies, Teta is Serbo-Croat for "aunt."

In Spanish language, Teta is a rude word to refer to a woman's breasts.

In Slovenian, Croatian, Czech, and Slovakian, "teta" is the word for "aunt". Teta was also the Czech mythical magician, who is said to have been the daughter of the equally mythical Czech ruler Krok

The massacre in Darfur is directly related to gun control. Guns were taken away from the civilians, both by law and by forced poverty.

Then the mass killings began.

It is a cycle that only firearms and freedom can dismantle.

When has the left been concerned with either firearms OR freedom? (Never, which is why they fail)

And history has also recorded that from the beginning American was one of the first nations who tried to remove slavery from the earth. The Constitution was a huge compromise, The counted slaves as less than a full vote to reduce the voting power of the Southern States. Madison insisted several times that Slaves must be free but could not get the votes to ratify.

When/where should all these APOLOGIES start and finish?

The Maori people of New Zealand want the whites to APOLOGIZE also, but they ATE the people who were in NZ when they arrived. Very few of the original people survive to this day - they need an APOLOGY don't they?

Park commemorates Australian military charge in 1917 in s. Israel

Australian and Israeli heads of state on Monday dedicated a park that celebrates the contributions of Australia's military to events that led to creation of the State of Israel.

Major General Michael Jeffery is the first Australian governor-general to visit Israel. He and President Shimon Peres opened the Park of the Australian Soldier in the southern city of Beersheba to celebrate Israel's 60th anniversary. "The distance between Australia and Israel is far geographically, but morally we are very close," Peres said.

He and Jeffery unveiled a sculpture commemorating the Australian Light Horse Brigade's famous World War I charge against Turkish forces in Beersheba.

The battle was the beginning of the end for Turkish rule in the Holy Land. It cleared the way for Britain to sign the 1917 Balfour declaration that contributed to the creation of a Jewish state.

At the park's dedication, young Israeli soldiers mixed with Australian veterans in full dress uniform as Governor General Jeffery praised the park for "permanently uniting Israelis with Australia."

Then, while everyone's eyes are turned to the national election, make Wright mysteriously disappear into the background mist and focus all the attention on McCain's problems.

I wouldn't put it past the MSM to do exactly that. They are in love with Barry, and it's been their modus operandi in the past.

Naw, they know they no longer have a monopoly, so it would be a severely flawed plan. If they don't want to report on Obomba, people will turn to their inevitable successors on the internet and Fox news. The MSM has no unified strategy right now. They are in complete disarray.

The Moment of Truth for the Left has Arrived

By James Lewis

If you haven't listened to Jeremiah Wright's hate sermons at Hugh Hewitt's website, you must do so. Every American with open eyes and ears has to listen to the voice of racial hatred, coming not from the Klan but from a clergyman of the Christian Left. Reading his words isn't enough, because you won't hear the unmistakable meaning of his vocal intonations. If you are a person of good will you will feel upset. But it's of the utmost importance to understand this moment of truth.

Because Jeremiah Wright -- the respectful word "Reverend" seems grotesquely out of place now -- is shouting out the slander catechism of the Left. His sermons say exactly what other Leftists say in calm voices, over and over again. Mr. Wright just does it with real, raw hatred, and every new slam is cheered on by his jubilant congregation. His is not a lone voice. He just sings the music to fit the words.

We have been nursing a viper in our national bosom. Seven years after September 11, 2001, this is the moment of truth, when the Left must finally decide what side it's on. Wright's sermons may signal the end of the Obama campaign, and they may mean the breakup of the Democratic Party as we know it. I don't see how any centrist Democrat can still belong to this party if Obama is its nominee. Jeremiah Wright may mean the historical end of the Civil Rights Era, because fifty years after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Left's presumption of Victimhood and innocence is now gone.

The Rev is only the visible bulge of this lethal political tumor. This is Saul Alinsky's sociopathic teachings on display, and this is what Hillary Clinton learned back at Wellesley College. It is the voice of feminists who hate all men, and of radicalized blacks who hate all whites....

Good thought. This sounds like the smartest, (most Machiavellian) explanation for Wright continuing to trumpet his views everywhere there's an audience.
Burn out the audience, exhaust all the questions, and turn it into "old news."

re: #359 jcm

I'm not a Christian, but I agree that Wright is a DIVIDER not a UNITER.

What's enraging me about this debate is that he's driving a wedge between Blacks and Whites. Dr. King's message was one of UNITY. Yes, also of Black pride, and there's nothing wrong with Black pride, but it should never come at the expense of separatism. Wright is preaching Separatism, like the Black Panthers did. As Obama himself said, he's from that "old time civil rights movement." That would be the Black Separatists of the 60s who kicked the whites and Jews out of the movement.

Despite all that, whites still very proudly support Black causes because fighting against oppression is everyone's business.

We still have a long way to go in race relations in this country, but the way Wright choses to have this discussion is only driving us backwards and downwards. And his lackeys don't see it. It's just infuriating to me.

BAGHDAD (AP) — Bombardments by suspected militants killed four U.S. soldiers Monday as troops tried to push Shiite fighters farther from the U.S.-protected Green Zone and out of range of their rockets and mortars.

The Sadrists use children to spot for their mortars and rocket launchers.

1) is Wright asking for an apology for slavery from muslim countries? how about from those within africa who enslave their own people?

2) it's a fine time to be splitting hairs re: america's policies and america itself. he damned AMERICA.

3) Jesus preached that we should FORGIVE our enemies, PRAY for those who persecute us, and BLESS and not CURSE! it is not ours to curse or damn ANYONE, period!

O/T:

I am writing you from Israel after having an emergency meeting with former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom I have known since he was 26 years old. I was horrified to learn that when President Bush comes to Israel for its 60th Anniversary in May, he has made the decision to mobilize Arab nations to come for a summit on the 17th & 18th of May.

The purpose of this summit is to move forward with the Annapolis Road Map, the plan that will force Israel to give up a large percentage of Judea and Samaria, which they call occupied territories, and divide the Holy City of Jerusalem.

It is extremely humiliating to think this would be America’s way of honoring Israel’s 60th year of prophetic rebirth. Even more outrageous, I saw the document confirming that the plan is to have this finalized by November 12, 2008.

I am asking you to vote and let President Bush know that you oppose him organizing a summit to divide Jerusalem on Israel’s 60th Anniversary. He needs to hear from you loudly and clearly immediately.

Send this to all of your friends and ask them to do the same. God’s words say that I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee.

Your Ambassador to Jerusalem,

Mike Evans

The MSM love to portray the current outbreak of Sadrist mayhem as an "embarrassment" and "setback" for the allies. I think it is no such thing; the elimination of Sadr's ragtag militia, and hence of his power, has been on the agenda for some time. It is a very necessary element in the stabilization and will be the final act in the success of the new strategy initiated last year.

Naw, if that were the strategy, Obama would have been better off throwing Wright under the bus from the beginning. So he would have just done that. And the only ones who would have been alienated would be the Black Liberation movement, who don't have enough votes or support to decisively effect a national election anyway. This isn't the same as the Clinton sex scandal by a long shot. Clinton was already President and the Republicans were stupid enough to nominate Dole.

re: #534 BabbaZee

He considers himself a revolutionary

Alinskyite.

At the heart of the Alinsky method is the concept of "agitation"--making someone angry enough about the rotten state of his life that he agrees to take action to change it; or, as Alinsky himself described the job, to "rub raw the sores of discontent."

[snip]

From Wright and others, Obama learned that part of his problem as an organizer was that he was trying to build a confederation of churches but wasn't showing up in the pews on Sunday. When pastors asked him the inevitable questions about his own spiritual life, Obama would duck them uncomfortably. A Reverend Philips put the problem to him squarely when he learned that Obama didn't attend services. "It might help your mission if you had a church home," he told Obama. "It doesn't matter where, really. What you're asking from pastors requires us to set aside some of our more priestly concerns in favor of prophesy. That requires a good deal of faith on our part. It makes us want to know just where you're getting yours from."

After many lectures like this, Obama decided to take a second look at Wright's church. Older pastors warned him that Trinity was for "Buppies"--black urban professionals--and didn't have enough street cred. But Wright was a former Muslim and black nationalist who had studied at Howard and Chicago, and Trinity's guiding principles--what the church calls the "Black Value System"--included a "Disavowal of the Pursuit of Middleclassness.'"

He considers himself a revolutionary

He would like to think of himself as a revolutionary, but if so, then he is a lame ass pathetic excuse for a revolutionary. A real revolutionary wouldn't have been so weaselly to say "I didn't mean America but just it's government." Oh, ok. No, a real revolutionary wouldn't hedge like that.

I finished teaching a seminar on religion and revolution today; our final discussion, which I did not initiate, turned on a discussion, albeit brief, of Wright. The students agreed that he is a kind of revolutionary in that all his Churchianity is just a cover for political ambition. His aim is to change society; government is the chosen means; religion is the tool to gain power, nothing more. That said, he is too used to comfort; he is unwilling to make the personal sacrifices a true revolutionary MUST be willing to make to achieve his goals.

No Valley Forge, no Diet of Worms, no Cross, no 40 years of wandering. He wants the Armani suits, the big houses, the limos, and all the accoutrement of power, but wants someone else to deliver it to him without him having to either work for it or take responsibility for his views.

B. Hussein should have definitively distanced himself from his former when he had the chance during his speech that came about from the last Wright brouhaha.

He should have come right out and said, 'When I was a young politician I hitched my wagon to this man for political reasons because of his local influence, but now in light of the statements I heard from the pulpit over 20 years and now his national notoriety, I now realize it was a mistake to be mentored by the Rev. Wright, who is an obvious racist!'

Had B. Hussein done that when he had the chance, what Wright said last night would now be a non-issue for him.

Methinks, because B. Hussein didn't do that, he shares some of Wright's sentiments.

"Some"? How about "the totality of"?

In fact, the reall issue here is bigger than either Wright or Obama and their respective racial psychodramas. The real issue is the centrality of Wright-like poison in the collective worldview (yes, with some notable and honorable exceptions) of black America.

Heh. I remember watching one movie (I don't remember the name, it sucked that bad)

It was, singlehandedly, the worst movie I had ever seen.

Horrible writing and acting.

The ship is the first flight to land on mars, so of course it has to crash.

The crew is on the ground, in their broken ship. there are 5 of them, but life support can only handle 3, so they have to choose the 2 who can die (someone at Nasa needs to have their heads roll if a ship for 5 only had enough food/scrubbers for 3.)

they're all facing the idea of who has to volunteer to go die, and one character ACTUALLY says (in an optimistic tone) "Hey Guys, let's look on the bright side here....."

If I were on that crew, he'd have just volunteered to be the first to go. (or, more accurately, i'd toss him out an airlock)

Hey Babba. Was able to return me dear ol Mam to her place earlier. They gave her some "good" medicine and she had a nice long nap on a rainy afternoon. I just made an Ensure and Ensure pudding run for her, along with some ginger ale.

Not being able to digest or hold down food sucks. I'll stock up her groceries probably tomorrow.

re: #600 LanceKates

Heh. I remember watching one movie (I don't remember the name, it sucked that bad)

It was, singlehandedly, the worst movie I had ever seen.

Horrible writing and acting.

The ship is the first flight to land on mars, so of course it has to crash.

The
crew is on the ground, in their broken ship. there are 5 of them, but
life support can only handle 3, so they have to choose the 2 who can
die (someone at Nasa needs to have their heads roll if a ship for 5
only had enough food/scrubbers for 3.)

they're all facing the
idea of who has to volunteer to go die, and one character ACTUALLY says
(in an optimistic tone) "Hey Guys, let's look on the bright side
here....."

If I were on that crew, he'd have just volunteered to be the first to go. (or, more accurately, i'd toss him out an airlock)

Red Planet?

re: #576 Render

It would appear as though his military "career" was real, if a bit abnormal for the era.

His assignment on the Presidential staff at Bethesda is probably what got him out of a 'Nam tour.

Of course, without a DD-214, it's all just guess work.

Wright's DD-214 and his Muslim name remain on the yet to be found research list.

re: #497 taxfreekiller

From 1959 to 1961, Wright attended Virginia Union University,[1] in Richmond. Inspired by President John F. Kennedy's 1961 challenge to "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," Wright gave up his student deferment, left college and joined the United States Marine Corps and became part of the 2nd Marine Division with the rank of private first class. In 1963, after two years of service, Wright then transferred to the United States Navy and entered the Corpsman School at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, where he graduated as valedictorian.[9] Having excelled in corpsman school, Wright was then trained as a cardiopulmonary technician at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where he graduated as salutatorian.[9] Wright was assigned as part of the medical team charged with care of President Lyndon B. Johnson (see photo of Wright caring for Johnson after his 1966 surgery). Before leaving the position in 1967, the White House awarded Wright three letters of commendation.[10][11][12]

A space ship crash lands on an asteroid so another one is sent, it crashes, another one is sent, it crashes. The captain of the last ship shrinks to the local alien size because of the different levels of oxygen and gravity. It's a classic.

I wasn't a slaveowner. But I would still have to pay because of the color of my skin. That's racism.

(I also am part american indian. Long before slaves were brought here, land was 'stolen'* from us. We get paid first, bucko.)

re: #152 J.S.

A great website to explain how JW used this verse totally out of context!

John 10:14-16

The quotation is from John 10:16. Its clear interpretation is that there is no other way to salvation but that which goes through Christ Jesus. A little context from John 10:14-16

14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

The obvious meaning? Those who are not now Christians may be saved. If, and only if, they accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior. “One flock, one shepherd.”

How this works out at the end is known but to God. But that is the plain meaning of the passage that Wright quotes is that one may not follow Islam and be saved. To claim otherwise is to engage in denial of the words of Jesus Christ. An interesting position for one who claims to be a minister of Christ.

A little OT, but not...

Everybody's switching focus between Barack Hussein and Jeremiah Wright... right? Which one is more wrong, more to blame if/when Obama loses it. Or is McCain more wrong than both of them for not recognizing the shit hitting him in the face from the fan?

None of the above, folks. It's all Michelle Obama's fault!

Bunch o' years ago (1990s?) Barack Hussein marries his girlfriend Michelle. She's born and raised in Chicago area, same church most of her life, right? Trinity United Church of Christ. Not his church, mind you. Her church. She has (or her parents have) chosen this church — not by driving around and picking out a nice church to attend for the rest of your life — but by purposely picking out a church that best espouses her/their own stated beliefs. If it was indeed her parents who chose this church, note that she, upon adulthood, chose to stay with that church, the one that best espouses her beliefs. She has attended there for many more than just the last 20 years, and not only has she heard her pastor's rantings, but she believes the same way. She knows the preached and published goals and mission of her chosen church.

He — the lucky groom — is not from Chicago. He's from... er... somewhere else (not important, folks — heh). Now, in my day, when a couple decides to marry, it is, more often than not, the bride's church that is the ultimate choice for the marriage, subsequent baptisms, and future attendance. I believe that Michelle wears, if not The pants in this family, at least The Church Pants in this family. I believe that — just maybe — he has not attended this church that often, but has been drawn into it, slowly and manipulatively (is that a word?), for her own (and "Rev" Wright's) purposes (and those of this particular "church").

Barack Hussein cannot now diss his church, his pastor, and certainly not his wife (!) at this stage in the game. He is indeed between a rock, a hard place, and ultimate suicide.

/Total sarc, Lizards! I'm going to fix dinner. Have fun with this!

re: #288 zombie

As I like to say to an occaisionally moonbatty British friend of mine:
"Buck up old chap, enough of the post-colonial self-flagellation!"

In a previous post, I mentioned that this "apology" is a prelude to official Reparations (in which those who have never been slaves are paid money by those who have never owned slaves). I still stand by that.

Wright (and other wrong-headed individuals) think that justice is achieved through more injustice "those who have never been slaves paid money by those who have never owned slaves". Plus, how can those who were not guilty offer meaningful apology?

Wright is a race-baiting, opportunistic demagogue. He should take the thirty pieces of silver that financed his McMansion and STFU.

You had a nice series of background quotes about slavery in Africa.

It was the Arab conquest into Africa that brought a huge and expanding devastation of local tribal groups as villages were attacked, killing some people, scattering some and marching the rest off never to return. This went on for centuries, the later European entry on the scene - a piggybacking on the existing trade - was in all ways much much shorter in duration and after an initial flurry, was shut down by stubborn Christian lobbying and appeals to national consciences. Areas that were not under European control, that is Arab Muslim control, continued the practice and trade, and the practice remains in Muslim dominated countries.

One could argue then that any Black descendent of any slave out of Africa would be stark raving mad to consider the Muslims of Africa as allies, while spurning those who actually fought against Arab Muslim hegemonies to free Africans from the scourage.

Farrakhan's NOI actively spreads the propaganda that there is no genocide in Darfur. They defend the Islamist regime in Sudan even while they enslave the black Africans of Darfur.

The Christian Southern Sudanese would have a few choice words to make regarding Farrakan's favorites.
Sudan in a small nutshell (no nuances included):
North imposes sharia on the South.
South rebellion
North response - burning, genocide, millions of people killed or displaced. Christians crucified, women and children sold into slavery, transported north.
South arms West (Darfur) rebels to open a second front against the North
The North arms the LRA out of Uganda to open a second front against the South.
Massive UN Operation Lifeline to provide food for Southern Sudanese
South gets upper hand and forces North to Comprehensive Peace Agreement for the South to have autonomy.
Today, the South is trying to build a nation, from scratch.

Farrakan and his ilk would not be welcome in the South.

But as another poster pointed out yesterday, there is one explanation that makes sense of all this tangle of contradictions:
MONEY.
Ghaddafi has it.
Khartoum has it.
And some people never can get enough of it, to the point of selling out all they claim to hold dear.

okay I KNOW this has already been said 10000 times, but I have to add my own too........Wright is an arrogant, condenscending, elitist, ass of a pastor. I think Obama deserves whatever he gets from having a "mentor" like this. God BLESS America!

re: #755 Colonel Panik

As I understand most of the African commies who were on the political fast track went to Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow, a special school founded by the KGB to train third world socialist leaders.
Among it's "distinguished" graduates are Carlos the Jackal (Vladimir Ilyich Ramirez) and Mahmoud Abbas.

That's a great reminder. The Soviets offered all sorts of education packages to Africans (and on other continents of course). Independence was on the horizon for all these former colonies so the Soviets wanted to have a cadre of people returned to Africa who were good candidates for high governmental positions. These AFricans of course got years of Anti-American propaganda. Obama's father was just the type they would try to mold. His dissertation which included 100% taxation wasn't gleaned out of African tradition.
Once stuck in Moscow, Africans did notice that Russians were not very comfortable with Blacks (to put it mildly!)
When Reagan came along, he had a few African rebels on his list and met them directly - these guys still speak highly of Reagan - astute, straightforward, get-it-done kind of man.

We met an Egyptian at graduate school in Arizona. Unlike most of the student population 24-28 years old, he was in his forties. He had been sent to Moscow during the Nassar years, getting his university education from the Soviets. Then, under Sadat, with a more pro-American focus, he'd been sent off mid-career to graduate school in the USA.
Nice guy, sent here and there at the whim of the government. He didn't have much nice to say about Moscow - dreary, cold, cold, cold showers, cold rooms, cold classes, cold. He found the sun and palms of Arizona much more to his taste, just regretting he didn't have his wife and kids there with him to enjoy the place.

Damn Wright I'm a left-brained, clap-deficient, bitter person.

....I think it's worse.

One cannot, REALLY, be a 'pastor' of a Christian flock if one is as full of hatred as HE is. Rather, he appears to me as an emissary of that other 'camp', where hatred is considered bonus points.

Satan is all about 'hate'. And so is 'reverend' Wright. Hatred of his fellow man. Wherein there is no Jew nor Gentile nor man nor woman in Christ, Wright is all about such distinctions, although it is more Black v. White in his instance. The proverbial racist, at his finest. Just like a few others I've encountered of late; even on this blog.

The race-hustler power structure. Judging by this NPC speech, that's who Wright is looking out for, here. To preserve that structure means the thwarting of a President Obama.

I don't know if he's considered this may backfire and have the opposite effect of what he intended. The black left is a mystery to me. It's just a theory, but I'm basing it on Wright's own words.

Jeremiah Wright offers no apologies for his curse upon America -- God damn America! -- nor does he even offer a retraction. That's because that is basic to how he feels about America. This Jeremiah Wright is another Ward Churchill.

As we get to know Jeremiah Wright better, the picture becomes clearer concerning what has been going on in Jeremiah Wright's church for the past 20 years.

The question arises: why has Barack Obama stayed in this church for 20 years? Why has he brought his children to be indoctrinated by Wright in anti-Americanism?

Here is a curious omission on the part of Barack Obama, that has been pointed out by Christopher Hitchens. Exactly what statements of Jeremiah Wright does Barack Obama disagree with? Obama keeps saying that he understands why people would be offended by some statements of Wright. I am not looking for validation of my feelings, and certainly I don't look to Barack Obama to be a psychologist for me. Barack Obama is not my Doctor Phil. I want to know Obama's positions. Exactly which of Wright's statements does Obama repudiate?

Here's a story from NPR's News & Notes, the hour of news
from an African-American perspective.

[Link: www.npr.org...]

(text synopsis and audio link)

The gamut of opinion runs from "Wright taken out of context" to
"whitey misunderstands the black prophetic tradition."
They don't say the word whitey; rather, they dance around
racial exclusivism.

There is a whiff of racism about the proposition that only a black
person can properly understand Wright's meaning.

Is it a vast conspiracy which allows Wright, Sharpton, Jackson,
and other pretenders to King's legacy to grab the spotlight?

It's hard to listen to the whole thing, but I felt obligated.
I didn't want to take anything out of context.

I think Americans already invaded Canada. Some time after the Civil War, a wild Irishman named O'Neill rounded up a rag-tag "militia" or something and headed toward the northern border, leaving from Nebraska. I used to know more about this, but I don't remember now and am too lazy and tired to look it up. The invasion failed, obviously.

Of Star Wars nerdity, yes. However, I throw down the gauntlet to any Harry Potter nerds out there. Understand that as a recovering Rowling addict this could be dangerous, however.

I am the biggest HP geek (the actual term) I know: as proof, I offer the fact that I called Fred's death in "Order of the Phoenix"

Funny, in this shot from the video Wright looks remarkably like Georgeous George Galloway. Hm...

re: #597 Carolyn

I read the article and noticed the frequent comments about "economic" and "social" justice and "the poor".

The L-rd's definition of "poverty" and "justice" is very different that what these Marxists say. Their idea of "justice" is mass murder and mass theft -- from those who work to those who don't.
