Nutroots Panicking

Mon, Apr 28, 2008 at 6:32:02 pm PDT

There is a fragrant hint of panic in the air tonight at the new mainstream center of the Democratic Party: Daily Kos: Obama, Get Wright’s Dirt Off Your Coattails.

Many of you will disagree with what I have to say, however it’s rapidly becoming clear that it’s now time for Senator Obama to sever whatever ties or perceptions of ties exist between himself and Jeremiah Wright.

Let me be clear, his controversial positions are damaging enough, but they are far from the worst of it.

Rev. Wright is trying to attach himself to Senator Obama: to fuse his cause, his fortunes, his solutions, and his grievances with those of Obama.

I suggest you re-read that last sentence, for it contains the death of our hopes for a progressive president within it.

Change!

Actually, let me rephrase that:

McCain won't lose.

Whoever is the Dem nominee, Hillary or Obama, will cause themselves to lose.

For much of the campaign, we have known very little about Barack Obama's character and core beliefs. Obama is new to the national scene, yet aspires to its highest and most powerful office. So that lack of information about Obama's character and core beliefs is a great deficiency in trying to understand if we should put Obama into this position that he seeks.

But since Obama has described Jeremiah Wright as his mentor for the past 20 years, we are entitled and even obligated to learn as much as possible about Jeremiah Wright, in order to make an assessment, as best we can, about Obama's character and core beliefs.

The nutroots attempt to coverup what cannot and what should not be covered up is a deplorable attempt to deprive the voting public of a needed understanding of Jeremiah Wright.

These nutroots people are very crazy people, so I think that Jeremiah Wright should be given a Secret Service escort. There is no telling what these lunatics may attempt to do. Give him protection -- just in case. To neglect to do that is not being responsible.

I heard the Wright speech today on Hugh Hewitt til Hugh played the obnoxious commercial I can't stand. Wright might have been appropiate back in 1863. Today he is outdated and carries an albatross of conflictions around his neck. I feel sorry for him and his supporters and his UCC. They have a social pogrom that only works in communism and without God. It did make me pause and think that John Hagee might have a point about false churches.

I get the Wright point of the invisible black church created out of the inhuman bonds of slavery. But Rev. it's time to grow up and mainstream yourself a little bit if you want to be involved with sincere leadership. You have the same compunctions as a Timothy McVeigh. Looking back on the past isn't going to solve his problem. Dale Carnegie could.

The Wright demeanor just reminds me of a pompous ass. There are so many more black leaders in the US that aren't so besotted with themselves. People choose him as a paster for a reason.

He quoted all his good works as substance for his integrity. All it reminded me of was the works of Hamas.

He complained that his associations shouldn't weigh down his associates that each person is different. He expresses that reconciliation is great. But he discards all those earnest principles of his faith when he judges the associations that GWB makes. A true democrat. Lie and yell that the other person is a liar.

Obama should just tell the truth. He choose this way for it's political expediency. Now it's time for him to moveon and address a broader constituency.

More focus on Obama please.

Obama doesn't need to distance himself from Wright... he needs to distinguish himself from Wright

Hope Obama continues to ignore the huge problem Wright is for him. Obama needs to stand up for Wright. The scary thing is Obama has convinced me he agrees with the racism of Wright.

Easier for shit to disavow the smell (to swipe a great line) than for Obama to disavow Wright at this stage.

"his wubby"

That's his out.... of this mess.

His Pastor, who brought him to Christ, who baptized his children etc..let him down. Obama will now, heart broken, effectively distance himself from Rev. Wright painting himself as the bridge that will bring us all together, dispell all of this hatred on both sides.

It could work.

Jeremiah Wright whines that criticism of his racist and anti-American ravings as a preacher in TUCC is equivalent to attacking "The Black Church". But this is contradicted by Juan Williams, who has done a study (and written a book) about black churches in America. Mr. Williams reportedly claims that less than one black church in ten is like Jeremiah Wright's.

Wright's whining reminds me of CAIR's whining. When CAIR is criticised, they whine that a billion and a half Muslims are being attacked. But of course it's CAIR that is being attacked. Yet they use a billion and a half Muslims as human shields for themselves.

Same with Jeremiah. He is using all of the black churches, including the more than 90% that are mainstream Christian churches and not at all like his, as human shields to delegitimize criticism of his own statements.

Not that I want this raving bigot to shut up. Let him speak! Please! I'd like to hear what he has to say, even though what he says is ridiculous. I just can't get enough of this garbage being spouted by Jeremiah Wright. Because it's important to hear it, to understand the character and core values of the man seeking the presidency who calls Jeremiah Wright his mentor: Barack Obama.

I am never un-surprised by the elitist attitudes over there in "Blue"-land...

" Well ... if the folks of this country are so (5+ / 0-)
stupid as to make their choice for president based on comments by any religious preacher, then we deserve what we get."

Response: " you new in America? (0+ / 0-)
they are that stupid, that has been proven over and over again, so what, we deserve what we get? We're trying to win an election here and we're not going to win it running on the assumption that maybe this time the American people will not be so stupid."

Amazing, what they say when they think no one is listening. Like, say, in front of San Francisco billionaires.

I suggest you re-read that last sentence, for it contains the death of our hopes for a progressive president within it.

Also because you're probably stoned to the bone, and I don't want you to forget - damn, what were we just talking about?

Tough luck, Barry - you called this guy your spiritual advisor. Expect to see that across pictures of Wright and you (maybe even in your very nice Chicago house that you'll still be living in come 2009).

re: #19 blue_like_jazz

i don't know, kids.... look at the story on the newsbar there that says hillary leads mccain by 9 points in polls.

we've discussed this at length, but don't we want mccain to run against obama? he seems so much more beatable in the long picture.

Media polls are pretty much worthless. It's been shown time and again that they oversample specific groups to get the desired results.

re: #26 mbruce

Good start, now have a little depth and realize that everything you LLLs have done for the last,oh,60 years or more is wrong, too.

I've had a bit of fun with some Obama supporters complaining about how terrible the Clintons are. It's so simple and really rattles some of them.
1) If the Clintons are really so bad, why didn't we hear about it when they were in office?
2) Was the media lying and covering for them then, or was the media totally incompetent?
3) If the MSM lied then, how do you know they're telling the truth now about anything? If they were incompetent for so many years, how can you trust them now?
Most of them sputter angrily, but you can see the wheels turning in a few of their heads.

So, the Buddhist goes up to a hotdog vendor and says, "Make me one with everything."
The hotdog vendor says "That will be five dollars"
The Buddhist says "I have ten. I want change."
The hotdog vendor says, "You have to want to change."

CHANGE!

I listened to him

Emptiest crock of shit since, well, since Obama himself

Just a bunch of tired cliches about how racist "white European" civilization is and how we're all damned b/c of slavery (interesting these black nationalists never mention the well documented viscious inter tribal warfare and slave trade between African tribes BEFORE the euros got there)

Nothing new. Farrakhan, Malcom X, Marcus Garvey and other radicals have been saying it for decades. Not to mention their white buddies on the hate America all the time left (Chomsky, Churchill, Ayers, etc)

Just another Marxist in black "liberation" clothes. SUre he sparks up a fiery speech, but everything he says will keep blacks where they are now for another 10000 years. Nothing "progressive" at all in what he says- he wants his people mired in victim mentality and "blame whitey"

Nice company, Barrack

Youll "bring everyone together" allright- so you can burn them all to the ground

re: #70 admiralackbar

Speaking here as a conservative who can't stand McCain, his best bet for the win is keeping his mouth shut as much as possible and letting the local party wonks and 527's point things out. Every time McCain speaks out he further alienates the conservatives in the party. I loathe the idea of Obama or Shrillary getting the win but I'm not exactly jumping for joy at the thought of President McCain either.

Hillary is shrewd...once she gets the nomination, she will skirt to the right of McCain on issues like immigration and welfare reform, out of Bill's playbook....she will pull lots of moderate R's over to her. My money is on her winning by exploiting McCain's problems with conservatives.

Senator Clinton / Indiana on Rasmussen Markets just hit 13 percent up for the day. Senator Obama is 10 percent down for the day.

And while I was typing that Clinton went to 13.5 up and Obama sent to 11 down.

I'm really getting tempted to sell a little Clinton.

Hillary will get the nom, Obama's folks will stay home (feeling all butt hurt cause their guy didnt win).. TA DA!

McCain will win without even having to give a speech or go anywhere. He can just sit on a rocking chair on the porch and wait for the good news of his win to be hand delivered.

This is all so sweet. It could only had been made better if McCain was a Conservative and not a 'maverick'.
