No, we moved them on to a farm that had better "security" arrangements.

I threw in the "herd of chickens" thing coz of a an ad over here, where the NY banker comes out and tries to blend in with the kiwi farming community. Leaning against the fence with the farmer he comments of the cows....."nice flock of cows" the farmer responds "herd of cows" and the banker replies.."yeah, I heard of cows have you heard of chickens"

Interesting the reaction.......

Oral board was the interview, like you just had. Some depts. did do psyche evals like the MMPN inventory. The assessments were a comprehension, mental flexibility type test. They would give a presentation on some job task, then you would have to go preform the task, and they would throw a monkey wrench into the works to see what happened.

I didn't figure the psyche evals helped much, anyone who thinks running into burning buildings is fun, is by definition bug shit nuts.

Ah. You can definitely load a CD directly into iTunes. I have not tried doing it CD - to Windows Media Player - to iTunes, but I imagine you can.

If you ever find a way to either a) switch iPhone predictive text to other languages (e.g. Spanish), or b) just turn the damn predictive text the f**k OFF, I'd be greatly obliged if you shared that info.

That is right. I never did like live firefighting training in the navy.

The training center had a ship simulator, they start a fuel leak fire in a compartment, we'd get to go in and turn it off.

They paid me to have that much fun!

On an iPhone, it's a little application. You should be careful to inspect upgrades, since they tend to establish more restrictions over time.

Good luck with that. I used to be a computer tech, and I've had to deal with Macs as well as PCs.

I don't dislike the computers themselves, but I find Apple Computers practices to be FAR more monopoly-like than Microsofts ever were... the only difference is that Microsoft helped the IBM clones take over the market and Macs only took a small segment....

I just had a mildly strange experience. An autistic boy up the street just wandered into our house. I already had several other kids in the living room hanging out with my kids, and really didn't think anything of it until he went to the fridge and started to help himself to some blueberry yogurt we had in the kitchen. I didn't even think much of that either, except I didn't recognize him. I said, hello, and he didn't say a thing. He did look me in the eye though. I asked him if he wanted a spoon, and he handed the yogurt back to me.

Moments later, his brother and sister showed up. They explained to me that their brother was autistic, and began apologizing. I told them not to worry about it. I feel badly that they were so embarassed. I think I need to walk up the street and exchange phone #'s with his parents. His brother mentioned that he has some food allergies.

What say you Lizards? I don't want them to feel awkward, but I do think it would be a good idea to exchange phone #'s and find out if he has food allergies.

266 The Albatross  Tue, Apr 29, 2008 3:58:08pm

re: #265 BulgarWheat

It might be a great idea to introduce yourself and exchange info including his allergies if they are inclined to share. They might feel better too knowing that a neighbor is around to keep an eye out in case he is prone to wander.

Met the Mom. She's a real nice lady. Dad was taking one of my new little pals brothers to Boy Scouts. Alex is a triplet. I gave the Mom my contact info and told her that I'd call her next time he showed up.

The diet has more to do with a no gluten diet. I'd seen where Jenny McCarthy was doing the same thing with her son. He is also autistic.

Three lizards and three koz kids were at the train station about to embark on a trip. After purchasing their tickets, the koz kids noticed that the lizards had bought only one ticket.
"How are all three of you lizards gonna travel on one ticket ?" they asked. "Watch and be educated." replied one of the lizards.
After boarding the train and taking seats, The koz kids witnessed the three lizards enter the rest room together. As the train left the station, the conductor proceeded through the car collecting the tickets. When he reached the rest room, he knocked on the door and said "ticket please". The door opened just a crack and a ticket protruded through. "Thank you" said the conductor as he proceeded to the next car.
That evening the two groups were back at the station for the return trip. The koz kids, having learned from the lizards, bought only one ticket but noticed that the lizards had not purchased a ticket at all.
"How are the three of you going to travel with no ticket?" the koz kids asked. "Watch and be educated." a lizard replied.
Upon boarding the train each group entered seperate rest rooms and locked the doors. After about thirty seconds had passed a lizard exited his rest room , ran to the koz kids rest room, knocked on the door and asked, "Ticket please". The door opened a crack and a ticket appeared.

Bear with me, please.

"I have been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ since 1992, and have known Reverand Wright for 20 years," Obama said. "The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago."

Wouldn't it be possible for Obama to be telling the truth... if, in the last 20 years, the only times he ever set foot in church was at his wedding and his daughters' baptisms?

(I've seen the footage of one of Rev. Wright's sermons, and he has an interactive preaching style: demanding responses from the congregation and asking congregants to turn to each other to repeat key points from his teachings. Anyone who attended any of his sermons would not have been able to "not hear" the precepts of Rev. Wright's ministry from the Reverend's own lips.)

re: #271 UFO TOFU

I way say yes, but be aware that special needs children can steal your heart; whether they're yours or not.

My company had its worldwide sale conference in Las Vegas last week. Since it is an Olympics year, the opening theme was based on the Olympic opening day with each country represented at the conference having their flag paraded up to the stage. At that time, the athletes were brought out on-stage, about twenty participants in the Nevada Special Olympics. They were met with a standing ovation. I have never seen three top executives, including the CEO, get emotional to the point of tears on-stage before, but there you had it. (Several of the athletes were overcome with emotion and needed to be held. Your heart melted, at least mine did.) He kicked off the conference by pledging US$30K to the Nevada Special Olympics, which will sponsor 60 athletes.

Fast forward to the last day. Unplanned grass-roots challenges resulted in several additional thousands being raised for the Special Olympics during meetings and meals. Closing ceremony brought the Special Olympics athletes back on-stage and with it our CEO. Crying, he upped the pledge. My company, Symantec, will donate in excess of US$100,000.00 dollars to the Special Olympics this year and will match funds for the rest of us that want to add to that amount.

I love this company. It has its' faults, but I love this company.

re: #287 paxnhymn

yeah, and it could (and most probably is) be that Obamamessiah is just lyin' to save his political ass...

Well...

... lying about knowing what Wright stands for, or more fundamentally lying about having any personal faith whatsoever? As in, he joined the church for political cover and was a member in name only, paying big monetary dues to stay in good standing? As in, lying about "coming to Christ" because he knows that voters in the USA tend not to like areligious or antireligious politicians?

In any case, that he's lying for political gain is pretty much a given.
