Turkish Ambassador Denies News Reports On Decision To Behead Turkish Barber
Published: 5/1/2008
ANKARA - Turkish Ambassador to Riyadh Naci Koru on Thursday denied news reports that a Saudi Arabian court ratified the conviction of Turkish barber Sabri Bogday, who was sentenced to beheading in Saudi Arabia on charges of "cursing the name of God".

Koru told A.A. correspondent that the court process was concluded during Wednesday`s hearing, noting that appeal process would take start from now on.

Koru said, "we will appeal against the verdict within a month", noting, "we are very hopeful".

Bogday has been in jail for 13 months in Saudi Arabia after a quarrel with a neighbor. Bogday was accused of cursing the name of God.

Don't ask me what "noting that appeal process would take start from now on." means.

A Saudi Arabian court on Thursday ratified the conviction of Turkish barber Sabri Bogday, who was sentenced to beheading in Saudi Arabia on charges of “cursing the name of allah.”

Bogday has been in jail for 13 months in Saudi Arabia after a quarrel with a neighbor near his barber shop. Bogday was accused of cursing the name of allah.

This barber seem a little not-headed.

They ain't fundamentalists for nothing.

I dislike the use of the word "fundamentalist" to mean fanatic, bigoted extremist, murderous whacko. This straight out of the leftist lexicon.
In a Christian/Protestant context, a Fundamentalist is one who holds to a traditionalist, literal interpretation of the Bible and to the basic Nicene creed....in opposition to those who prefer "nuanced" interpretation and to the liberal, "social gospel" movement.
The word has been deliberately adopted by the left to discredit traditional Christians by lumping them in with crazed murderers. I think we should avoid using it.

PS- I am not a Fundamentalist, nor even a Protestant.

So true. Even though our brother Isaiah said the time of the father's eating sour grapes that set their children's teeth on edge are over, it doesn't mean that mistakes can be excused - they can still be considered generational. It means everyone from then to now can't use the mistakes of our forefathers as an excuse to continue in error.

I'd rather be in the camp of Isaac and prefer it over the camp of the outcast.

True.
And stands as a lesson for us today. Our efforts in the flesh (religion) for God, have long term and negative consequences.

Sorry, but words mean things, and "fundamentalist" is what saudi arabia is. The left has co-opted a lot of words, words such as "liberal". I consider myself a liberal, because I believe in Liberty. The left has completely bastardized the term. That doesn't mean I'm going to quit using "liberal", in fact, just the opposite- I'm taking it back, damnit!

I think we should avoid using it.

With all due respect- no. The time for limiting our vocabulary should be over. It is the left that wants us to stop using certain words, so they can define what they don't like, leaving their opponents defenseless. I'm not going to play their game.

Don't you think that #1 would increase the price of oil 100000X?

We just need to drill.

Lance's Plan:

1. Kick the enviro-weenies in the butt and drill everywhere we THINK there is oil.

2. Build Nuclear Power Plants anywhere we can fit one, providing alternative power sources for homes and also for electric cars (making them viable)

3. Kick back and remember how fun it was to kick the enviro-weenies in the butt.

The left does use it to make a connection, as if following the fundamentals of the teachings of Jesus Christ were comparable to following the fundamentals of Islam. Or even a basketball coach who stresses the fundamentals.

Since one does not equal the other does not equal the third, etc., the word is vague at best.

But most importantly, the problem with jihadists isn't that they adhere to fundamentals, but what those fundamentals are.

Therefore, calling them Fundamentalists, albeit correct, misdirects attention from what is inspiring their behaviour.

It would be like calling Saudis dessert dwellers all the time. It would be true, but that isn't why they are beheading people.

Again islam is no blessing. Not the blessing or covenant with G-d for Ishmael.

I would suspect Ishmael would rather be remembered as the skilled self sufficient hunter:

Genesis 21:20 God was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became an archer.

Any Ishmaelite descendants caught up in islam are enslaved; they are in bondage.

Just because they both start with I doesn't mean there is a connection.

1) Position our worthless fancy-pants Navy to block all oil shipments coming out of the Gulf of Hormuz until oil comes down to $50 per/barrel. Any ship/aircraft that approaches this battle group gets wasted....no warnings.

2) Problem solved...less money for terrorism and less money to buy influence around the world.

3) Tell the world that we are willing to pay a fair price for oil, but we're not willing to sit by and watch our country melt down.

Bogday has been in jail for 13 months in Saudi Arabia after a quarrel with a neighbor near his barber shop. Bogday was accused of cursing the name of God.

The hatred towards Jewish folks is based mostly in envy (I believe). The Whole "Chosen People" thing really gets them, as does the ability of this small group of people to survive and thrive in the midst of countless enemies.
My other belief is that the Arabs really don't give a rat's ass about the Country of Israel other than driving out the Jewish Folks from it to negate the Covenant God Made with Abraham when he walked between the cut animals after putting Abraham to sleep.
Again, the inferiority complex. They could have the blessing of the real God in the same way Christians have it.

I believe that God will protect Israel and keep that Covenant.

There are political fundamentalists, too. Look at the left- they are the epitome of political fundamentalists with their marxism, and political correctness.

I think the reason you feel the word is akin to a slur is because with most things, being a fundamentalist is not necessarily a good thing. I find it very close minded, but that is what fundamentalism is by it's very definition- strict adherence to a set of beliefs. So, I don't mean to offend you, but I'm going to continue to use the word as I see fit.

OT--joke

One day God was looking down at Earth and saw all of the rascally
behavior going on.

So He called one of His angels and sent the angel to Earth for a time.
When he returned, he told God, "Yes, it is bad on Earth; 95% are
misbehaving and only 5% are not."

God thought for a moment and said, "Maybe I had better send down a
second angel to get another opinion." So God called another angel and
sent
him to Earth for a time.

When the angel returned, he went to God and said, "Yes, it's true. The
Earth is in decline; 95% are misbehaving, but 5% are being good."

God was not pleased. So He decided to e-mail the 5% that were good,
because he wanted to encourage them, and give them a little something to
help them keep going.

Do you know what the e-mail said?

Okay, I was just wondering, because I didn't get one either.

Brideshead R. is not too far down in the pile next to my bed! As far as 'diversity training' - yes, in the work-place it's about deferring/avoiding liability - plus it's a seriously profitable business venture for the 'diversity' trainers (along the lines of selling 'indulgences') and in the academic sphere it's about preparing people to enter the really nutty work-place. Well they would have to come down thru Iraq. And we are sitting there. The turks didn't let the 4th ID come into Iraq from the North in 03. I say let em go the long way!

I figure it would take them about 36 hours to dispose of the Syrians and the Jordanians would open the express lane and wave them through. Having the Turks in charge of the oil fields would probably be a big improvement. Certainly couldn't be worse.

How long do you think it would take for Arab's to cave in if we blocked they're oil shipments? They would fold like a Chinese-made lawnchair.....and you know it.

They already HATE us, so what the F**K do we have to lose?

Well, keeping oil below 200 bucks a gallon is one thing we have to lose.

Remember that when we remove supply, it means that the same (and growing) demande has less oil to buy. That includes us. Less oil means higher prices per barrel. Higher prices per barrel means high gas costs.

Also note that, just as was done with Iraq, other countries don't mind breaking 'the law' in order to buy oil from madmen. Reference France, China and Russia in the "Oil for Food" scandal.

What it WOULD do is pit the world against us for spiking up oil costs.

Once again, if you want to bankrupt the saudis and the other oil producing terrorist-funders, you do it by increasing supply to run them out of business.

You do THAT by drilling. everywhere. If an enviro-weenie says "NO! THink of the Caribou!" you kick them in the butt and drill anyway.

It never ceases to amaze me that people will walk into the lion's den of barbarity (the magic kingdom) without any support. I don't care how in debt I am or how impoverished I am I would NEVER go to that shithole without any sort of diplomatic backup. It was hard enough being there when I was in the military. Saudi courts are for Saudi people and tahts what you get as ol' Richard Pryor used to say.. "There's not justice only just us", and that's exactly how those whankers are.
The barber is Turkish. I have always enjoyed trips to the barber here.. the shaves with dental floss instead of a razor, having my back popped and shoulders popped etc etc. for a reasonable price about $10. When I was working in Leipzig, Germany I used to frequent a Turkish barber there. I got the "friends/countryman" price of 20 Euro for it all while other clients paid 50 and were by appointment only. You can't tell me that this guy couldn't have made the same money elsewhere.
I can't believe that a fellow muslim would treat another fellow muslim like that. (as if!). Why hasn't the media focused on the fact that more muslims die at the hands of their brother muslims than to any infidels?
Now, it will be interesting to see if the Turks go as apeshit about this as they have about the beginning of Iraqi Freedom or various visits of Congo-leesa Rice or Bush. The current party in power here will say nothing because they are funded by the Fraudis.

Yummmmmm! I want to be a dessert dweller

There was the book Doon, which was a parody of Dune.
In it, the freedmenmen inhabited the planet Aruckus, the dessert planet, living on the vast sugars, home of the giant pretzels, and which was the only known source of that mysterious, mind-altering substance known as "beer".

Since all they got was desserts, they had to wear sweatsuits, and they awaited the arrival of the Kumquat Hagendaz, the Mauve Bib, who would bring them entrees. "Steak for dinner, sometime soon" was their saying.

It's the chorus from a rap song (or "song", I should say), which I heard very briefly on a Sopranos ep (rerun, of course) two days ago, and it's been circling in my head intermittently since then.

The original lyrics apparently refer to driving with drugs or other contraband in one's car, AND SIMLUTANEOUSLY being "racially profiled" by the police for driving with drugs or other contraband in your car, which is totally wrong, even though you're... well... guilty.

re: #212 eschew_obfuscation

It's also a method to morally equate 'funadmentalist' jihadi ideology with 'fundamentalist' Christian/Jewish ideology......"See, Christians are just as bad as Jihadis" (because they're both fundamentalists....with a dose of 'unsophisticated rube' thrown in for good measure).

.....but then, you knew all that ;-)

Unfortunately, it's not just "fundamentalist" that's being deliberately misused in order to change its meaning into something bad. The same thing is happening to "conservative" by, for example, referring to every repressive regime as "conservative" this and "conservative" that. I was watching an old (1999) thing on History Channel recently about the history of sex in the middle ages and beyond... and at one point, after describing how harshly the Catholic church of that era treated anyone that broke the sexual mores of the day (many of which were themselves a bit over the top... I mean, masterbation and nocturnal emissions were considered "sodomy" and punishable by death?!?!?), and the narrator then referred to this as coming out of the "conservative" church of the time, seeming to imply that "conservative" == "repressive."

I just shook my head, tsk-tsking them for it.

"a Turkish barber has been condemned to death by beheading for blasphemy"

This is how muslim societies eliminate Christians (including Christian Turkish barbers) one by one. In court, the muslim's word is taken as the truth, and the Christian is officially disbelieved and condemned. One by one, their heads are removed, and islam moves relentlessly forward.
