Why Are Islamic Advocates Opposed to Fighting Jihad?

Fri, May 2, 2008 at 9:16:56 am PDT

Representative Sue Myrick (R-NC) has proposed a ten-point plan to stop the infiltration of radical Islam into American society, and Robert Spencer asks a simple question: why are Islamic advocates opposed to the plan?

Why Are Islamic Advocates Opposed to Fighting Jihad?

The simplest answer is usually the right one. They want the jihad to win.

That's a great question.

Everything Ms. Myrick proposes doing seems reasonable, which is why it's being looked at as being racist and McCarthy-esque.

All the points sound eminently sensible (for Americans).
And that is who our government employees anwer to, right?

1. Investigate all military chaplains endorsed by Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was imprisoned for funding a terrorist organization.
2. Investigate all prison chaplains endorsed by Alamoudi.
3. Investigate the selection process of Arabic translators working for the Pentagon and the FBI.
4. Examine the non-profit status of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
5. Make it an act of sedition or solicitation of treason to preach or publish materials that call for the deaths of Americans.
6. Audit sovereign wealth funds in the United States.
7. Cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their text books, which she claims preach hatred and violence against non-Muslims.
8. Restrict religious visas for imams who come from countries that don't allow reciprocal visits by non-Muslim clergy.
9. Cancel contracts to train Saudi police and security in U.S. counterterrorism tactics.
10. Block the sale of sensitive military munitions to Saudi Arabia.

Myrick Plan Point 7: “Cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their text books, which she claims preach hatred and violence against non-Muslims.”

It is demonstrably true that they do. Does Mr. Hough endorse this hatred and violence, or does he for some reason not want non-Muslims to know what Saudis are being taught?

Screw Hough. The problem here is President George Bush and Condi Rice.

Objecting to any of her points specifically would raise uncomfortable questions about [Jabril's] own loyalties and principles.

If I had to guess, I would say that Jibril is just looking for some attention and claiming that something is a 'fear campaign' because the subject matter focuses on one religion is an easy way to get that attention. However, if he's exposed as a terrorist sympathizer or participant, all the better.

It's interesting how in Europe, they want to rid themselves of the "Hate Speech" laws to embrace true free speech, while in the US we want to restrict speech. There should be an equilibrium somewhere.

I know what she is saying, but there needs to be some more "lawyer words" in there. Supporting the death penalty of duly convicted murderers shouldn't count, but would the way it is worded now.

Also, there is trash talk to consider. FOAD isn't really a death threat.

A Telling Comment [John Hood]

Last night, a couple of my staff members were presenting at an anti-tax event in rural North Carolina (believe it or not, there are many important elections going on in our state right now than just the Obama-Clinton slugfest, including a host of local tax referenda). During open discussion later in the event, a young soldier stood up and told the audience that he had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. He was proud of his service, and of his unit's accomplishments.

"Then," he said, "I came home and found out we were losing the war."

Absolutely. There were "enlightened" groups who, of course, thought that it was very wicked of the USA to discriminate against radical subversives, and who opposed those laws. But they were a goofy, self-destructive minority.
Today, unfortunately, they are in power.
