Why Are Islamic Advocates Opposed to Fighting Jihad?

Fri, May 2, 2008 at 9:16:56 am PDT

Representative Sue Myrick (R-NC) has proposed a ten-point plan to stop the infiltration of radical Islam into American society, and Robert Spencer asks a simple question: why are Islamic advocates opposed to the plan?

Of course, we here know the answer.

Why Are Islamic Advocates Opposed to Fighting Jihad?

The simplest answer is usually the right one. They want the jihad to win.

4 Pastorius  Fri, May 2, 2008 9:20:29am

That's a great question.

5 sffilk  Fri, May 2, 2008 9:20:44am

Everything Ms. Myrick proposes doing seems reasonable, which is why it's being looked at as being racist and McCarthy-esque.

All the points sound eminently sensible (for Americans).
And that is who our government employees anwer to, right?
/?

1. Investigate all military chaplains endorsed by Abdurahman Alamoudi, who was imprisoned for funding a terrorist organization.
2. Investigate all prison chaplains endorsed by Alamoudi.
3. Investigate the selection process of Arabic translators working for the Pentagon and the FBI.
4. Examine the non-profit status of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
5. Make it an act of sedition or solicitation of treason to preach or publish materials that call for the deaths of Americans.
6. Audit sovereign wealth funds in the United States.
7. Cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their text books, which she claims preach hatred and violence against non-Muslims.
8. Restrict religious visas for imams who come from countries that don't allow reciprocal visits by non-Muslim clergy.
9. Cancel contracts to train Saudi police and security in U.S. counterterrorism tactics.
10. Block the sale of sensitive military munitions to Saudi Arabia.

8 gymnast  Fri, May 2, 2008 9:22:07am

The simple answer is that the opponents are Jihadi's.

9 Lazarus  Fri, May 2, 2008 9:22:38am

Because they know that President Bush's "moderate Muslims" will reform Islam.

10 Ojoe  Fri, May 2, 2008 9:23:01am

'Cause they're for such infiltration I conclude.

Myrick Plan Point 7: “Cancel scholarship student visa program with Saudi Arabia until they reform their text books, which she claims preach hatred and violence against non-Muslims.”

It is demonstrably true that they do. Does Mr. Hough endorse this hatred and violence, or does he for some reason not want non-Muslims to know what Saudis are being taught?

Screw Hough. The problem here is President George Bush and Condi Rice.

Objecting to any of her points specifically would raise uncomfortable questions about [Jabril's] own loyalties and principles.

If I had to guess, I would say that Jibril is just looking for some attention and claiming that something is a 'fear campaign' because the subject matter focuses on one religion is an easy way to get that attention. However, if he's exposed as a terrorist sympathizer or participant, all the better.

5. Make it an act of sedition or solicitation of treason to preach or publish materials that call for the deaths of Americans.

It's interesting how in Europe, they want to rid themselves of the "Hate Speech" laws to embrace true free speech, while in the US we want to restrict speech. There should be an equilibrium somewhere.

5. Make it an act of sedition or solicitation of treason to preach or publish materials that call for the deaths of Americans.

I know what she is saying, but there needs to be some more "lawyer words" in there. Supporting the death penalty of duly convicted murderers shouldn't count, but would the way it is worded now.

Also, there is trash talk to consider. FOAD isn't really a death threat.

Revoke the Tax Exempt Religious Status of any person, group or organization that preaches or publishes material advocating the death of any person not a member of their group or organization.

44 gman  Fri, May 2, 2008 9:41:17am
On Monday he charged that “Myrick's latest attempt at fighting terrorism is nothing more than a fear campaign

The ten step plan is so specific I don't see how it could be misconstrued as an attack against all muslims.
Then again, Mr. Spencer makes it clear that the media will always lend a helping hand in this regard.

45 DownRightMeanAmerican  Fri, May 2, 2008 9:41:27am
Joining Hough at a Monday news conference was Ross Overby, a Democrat hoping to challenge Myrick in the 9th District.

Dhimmicrats sure pick some strange bedfellows.

I don’t know who is more dangerous, the moderate Moslems or their dhimmicrat friends.

Bush my call them the religion of peace, but dhimmicrats can wait to serve their new masters.

47 Thanos  Fri, May 2, 2008 9:41:30am

I like this plan, it addresses the specifics. The only issue I have is the strategy. As a bundle, people will find reason to stop one or two of them and kill the whole. Offered up separately they each have a better chance at passage.

A Telling Comment [John Hood]

Last night, a couple of my staff members were presenting at an anti-tax event in rural North Carolina (believe it or not, there are many important elections going on in our state right now than just the Obama-Clinton slugfest, including a host of local tax referenda). During open discussion later in the event, a young soldier stood up and told the audience that he had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. He was proud of his service, and of his unit's accomplishments.

"Then," he said, "I came home and found out we were losing the war."

Ain't it the truth.

Advocating for Sharia law is sedition. Sharia is the constitution of Saudi Arabia. Sharia calls for the death or enforced humiliation of anyone who will not convert to Islam.

That is sedition, just as surely as it would have been considered sedition to advocate for America to have been placed under the Soviet Constitution during the Cold War.

Absolutely. There were "enlightened" groups who, of course, thought that it was very wicked of the USA to discriminate against radical subversives, and who opposed those laws. But they were a goofy, self-destructive minority.
