The Door Closes

Thu, May 8, 2008 at 6:45:00 pm PDT

Well, I left registration open all day, 8+ hours, but since I didn’t announce it there are only 51 hatchlings on the delousing deck tonight. Welcome, hatchlings, and fear my unblinking eye.

Unannounced openings evidently result in fewer hatchlings.

No arguing. Just discussing.

Be interesting to see if there will be proportionately fewer to delouse.

16 Dianna  Thu, May 8, 2008 6:51:39pm

re: #1 Sparkizzy

I thought it a waste of energy. The Democrats were doing themselves lots of harm without help from any Republicans; and the Republicans need to pull themselves together and start figuring out what we want John McCain to be held to.

This is a distraction, and I'm surprised that Limbaugh is doing it.

17 Racer X  Thu, May 8, 2008 6:52:10pm

re: #1 Sparkizzy

Asked in the previous thread: What do you guys think about "Operation Chaos"?

I think the plan was to assist in the democrat party implosion. To weaken both candidates; to divide them so they will NOT team up. Because if they DO team up, McCain will be a footnote on a history test sometime in the future.

18 Caboose  Thu, May 8, 2008 6:52:20pm

Well, that means at least 51 n00bz are standing the house a round tonight. Shoulda waited until tomorrow when the Lizard Nation woulda had a day off to sleep it off (not me, going to my oldest kidz kollich gradeeashun frum Onnivercity o Jawjah on Sattiday). Have fun and play nice, noobz, don't blow it now that you are here.

21 Sparkizzy  Thu, May 8, 2008 6:52:35pm

The way I see it, if he had as big an influence as he claims he did, why not use his influence to get people to vote for Fred Thompson, way back when? That's what pisses me off.

The smartest boss I ever had once explained it to me. He said, 'during the past few years you have worked for me we had several uncomfortable moments when we strongly disagreed. THAT was when we were really working.'

27 maddogg  Thu, May 8, 2008 6:55:57pm

When I registered, the open door was infrequent and never announced. Kinda made me always check the top left of the main page when I would call up LGF. If you wanted in, you had to stay on yer toes and keep yer eyes peeled.

32 Syrah  Thu, May 8, 2008 6:58:29pm

What is the troll to lizard ratio in the announce registrations versus the unannounced?

If such a statistic could be calculated, I would guess that the unannounced registrations result in fewer trolls.

Just a guess.

I suspect there are hundreds of stealth trolls writhing just under the skin of the lizard that is LGF, but if they never come to the surface, they cannot be readily detected.

Could be forever, especially is they are a typical weak minded lefty and at least have the smarts to know they will get stomped the first time they crawl out into the open. If not, then they will probably open their mouths right away and get their righteous stomping!

Asked in the previous thread: What do you guys think about "Operation Chaos"?

it has been fun to watch rush lead the charge as commander in chief of op chaos. i want to thank all the op chaos troops who have valiantly gone forth to keep the chaos going. i really do think it has had an effect on exposing osama. hillary herself has worked hard to get dirt on him and she thinks, if he does get the nod, he will lose to mccain who will be a one term pres. and she can try again. even the msm and the dems are talking abt. op. chaos and are truly annoyed and caught off guard by the results. it's even being written abt. in germany "die welt" wherein they all it "operazion cowz" (phonetic pronunciation) i like it.

Bifocals are undetectable, they have no lines. no one will ever know your wearing them.

re: #115 jainphx

My vanity isn't at issue, getting headaches is.

Sigh. I just hate bifocals.

Welcome, and you're already in a dimly lit space.

There is, however, a great deal of heat, if not much light, in the next thread.

119 PatrioticAmerican  Thu, May 8, 2008 8:03:55pm

Yay! I'm a hatchling!

Now to make it to the surf before the crabs get me...

120 cookielady  Thu, May 8, 2008 8:05:20pm

Well, not much going on here tonight worth getting into (I refuse to go anywhere near that upper thread, yuck), so I'm gone again.
Gute Nacht!

That is an excellent comment.

"Such an innocently naive lizard. Shakes head sadly."

LOL OK I'll bite, why naive?I guess I do need to learn a bit though to understand the "culture" here (culter was defined by CS Lewis as "how a civilization practices it's religion")

As W. Somerset Maugham said:

"Follow your inclinations with due regard to the policeman round the corner."

Say what you want. Just be respectful of others. It's a complex world. The difference between praise and banishment may just be in the way you say things.

Some quick advice for the hatchlings:
If you haven't done so, coat your scales with a mixture of cement and asbestos. This offers the best protection during flame wars.

I have no idea what a FARK is so I guess I don't have to worry bout that then HUH? LOL

I don't even notice them anymore. The hardest part was the first two days. Depth perception was off every thing looked to close.

131 Abu Bin Squid  Thu, May 8, 2008 8:47:22pm

I read LGF for some time before e-mailing Charles to be clued in on exactly when registration was open, as I had never seen it. I received an e-mail response from Charles (pbuh) with a hint. Was registered shortly thereafter. I was scared to post for a couple of days.

/did anyone ask me?.... no.

Hey Squid! Tell us how you got registered here.

133 luckygirl  Thu, May 8, 2008 10:44:02pm

OT... ( or can an open thread go "off-topic".....?) Just posting a quip from my brother.... who is brilliant. No blind preference here... the boy commandeered my share of the wit and intelligence in my family. As a result I have been relegated to "cute-with-big-boobs". Alas.

"Thought I would comment on a couple of things in the news and my in my own life.

Jimmy Carter (that right there should cause uncontrollable laughter) met recently with Hamas leaders to again magnify to the world his impotence - Shockingly enough nothing was accomplished, except apparently Hamas allowed him to deliver a letter from an Israeli prisoner that has been held captive for sometime. Carter's accomplishments now include, Economic collapse, Iran hostage fiasco, one more reason to invalidate the Noble peace prize, and mail boy.

Next story

Recent economic trouble is causing the price of food to rise, including lettuce. Hardest hit are the owners of large snakes due to the rising cost of rabbits that feed on the lettuce.

More middle east news:

It appears the Israelis blew up a "nuclear reactor" in Syria. The U.N. IAE chief was upset that he wasn't informed of this sooner explaining "We could have warned the Syrians that you were about to bomb them, allowing them to re-locate the operation" Syrian Envoy to the US, Imad Moustapha claimed that "Syria does not have a nuclear program at all." adding, "And we never will if the Jews keep blowing up our reactors"

134 luckygirl  Thu, May 8, 2008 10:59:46pm

OT.... if there can be one on an open... a quip from my brother .... who got more brains and wit than is fair.... leaving me with naught but boobs and charm.....

I'm finally a hatchling! It's funny I always seem to miss the chance when it's announced by like twenty minutes but when it's not announced I'm right on time! Nice to be here and hope to grow up into a Lizard like everyone else.

"Osama bin Laden’s right-hand man in Europe" freed on bail in U.K.

Why?

140 Guringo  Fri, May 9, 2008 2:00:14am

luckygirl,

I don't think that cute-with-big-boobs can be followed by 'alas' -in fact I know it can't.... Your brother's got wit tho'...

A big hello to all you hatchlings and lizardoids, this is my first post which makes me a very old hatchling, and by way of introduction, I was once featured on LGF! Back in nov.06, did a video spoof on Iranian cartoon/Daily Kos... it stemmed from another LGF post and was intended for you all, had such a blast with it... pleaded with Charles to let me in (I should have known better...) So to answer WriterMom's 'WHO WAS DAT?' -DAT WAS MEEEEEE...!

(I'll post a 'hello hatchlings' in the comments in case I'm not believed)

Anyhoot, I've since been working on 3d characters and animation... still way off from wrapping it up, but one day soon I'm going to give Danish cartoonist a run for their krones...

141 frodolives  Fri, May 9, 2008 3:14:04am

Welcome to the new hatchlings!

Charles, as someone who slipped in during an unannounced door left ajar, those who find the unannounced ones are people who actually read the posts and not just looking for an argument. Hope that makes sense because it's somewhat early here and I'm in full TGIF mode.

142 Loren42  Fri, May 9, 2008 5:00:31am

As one of those 51, I would like to say thank you for the opportunity to get in!

143 Conservative in Liberal Hands  Fri, May 9, 2008 5:20:19am

Welcome, Welcome all!

I too came aboard from an unannounced opening.

Charles, I wonder if there's any correlation between the frequency of participation of Hatchlings from unannounced ad opposed announced registration periods... Logins, comments, etc.

144 Ms. Right  Fri, May 9, 2008 6:30:53am

I joined during the previous opening... I suscribe to LGF via Bloglines. There's a bit of a lag between the time a new post goes up and when it shows up on Bloglines. After missing several registration periods this way, I just kept visiting the actual site. I saw that "Registration" up in the corner did not have "(closed)" after it and took my chances. See what happened? It paid off and here I am today! A very proud Lizard indeed. Welcome to all the other newbies.

145 haakondahl  Fri, May 9, 2008 6:49:38am

Well I suppose that I should be lucky to welcome Ms. Right to our little Zionist Conspiracy.

Welcome Aboard!

146 bill shears  Fri, May 9, 2008 7:52:10am
Unannounced openings evidently result in fewer hatchlings.

Well, duh. But they may be of higher quality. Since they are more likely to have clicked out of pure spontaneous interest, rather than premeditated ill-intent.

147 nikis-knight  Fri, May 9, 2008 8:17:43am

Hey new lizards! Monday will be my own one year birthday as a registered LGF lizard.

148 ripper  Fri, May 9, 2008 8:59:21am

I got in a few months ago after a year of trying. I finally set up an RRS to Email feed with a filter looking for the word "Open." When a post with "open" appeared, it was text messaged to my phone. An unannounced opening wouldn't have alerted me.

149 redheadredstate  Fri, May 9, 2008 9:45:09am

As a confirmed "dittohead" I can tell you what Operation Chaos is about. During the early primaries many Democrats crossed over and voted for McCain. They did this in a sneaky and underhanded way (just like the Dems always do things) thus thrusting McCain to the front and eventually as the Republican candidate. So now here we are stuck with a candidate we don't want and one that doesn't repesent our conservative values. Rush felt that he would start the same sort of thing on the left and began with the Texas Primary where he urged Republicans to cross over and vote for Hillary thus keeping her viable as a candidate and increasing the chance for "chaos" amongst the Dems. Rush knew full well that the longer a spotlight is shined upon it's subject the more secrets come out. As he predicted the new "messiah" Obama was found to have some skeletons in his closet and has been damaged by them. Hillary's campaign has been strengthened and she isn't about to get out of this race anytime soon. This has brought to light the hyprocrisy of the left and shown how they are all about identity politics and are the true purveyors of racism. Plus it keeps them so busy sniping at each other that McCain is left alone to campaign on the issues and keep above the fray. As an added bonus it has shown the blatant favoritism of the MSM towards the Dems like nothing ever has before. I have to admit that I'm enjoying the show and wake up each day looking forward to the latest political news like I've not done since I was a Reagan Republican in the 80's. Rush is a friggin genius!

150 newsread5  Fri, May 9, 2008 10:10:26am

RedHead you have described the situation exactly. Rush is more fun than watching Jimmy Carter.
