Mosque Refuses to Bury Cop Killer

Fri, May 9, 2008 at 3:15:09 pm PDT

This is interesting; a mosque where Philadelphia cop killer Howard Cain might have developed that “prayer bump” on his forehead (by grinding it into the ground five times a day—it’s considered a mark of devotion) is now refusing to give him a funeral.

Good for them.

The leadership of the Germantown Masjid has refused to conduct funeral services for Howard Cain, the bank robber who killed Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski with a Chinese-made semi-automatic rifle.

“No, we will not bury him at Germantown Masjid,” said Tariq El Shabazz, managing director of the mosque. “We don’t want one slight scintilla hinting that we condone his behavior.”

On Sunday evening, a friend of Cain’s family asked if Cain’s burial could take place at the mosque on Germantown Avenue near Logan Street, El Shabazz said. El Shabazz declined to conduct the service after researching Islamic law and meeting with Saadiq Abdul Jabbar, chief executive of the mosque; Imam Talib Abdullah, and others.

“We don’t tolerate that kind of behavior,” El Shabazz said. “Their actions are not from Islam. You don’t dress like a woman, you don’t rob people or transgress against them or commit murder. On all three grounds, they are dead wrong.

”We are not saying that Muslims should not bury him, or that he should not have Janaza [funeral prayers],“ he added. ”He is a Muslim and he has that right, but we don’t want that here."

37 The Other Les  Fri, May 9, 2008 3:28:24pm

Islam, deadlier than Communism?

However, at least 28 million Africans were enslaved in the Muslim Middle East. As at least 80% of those captured by Muslim slave traders were calculated to have died before reaching the slave markets, it is believed that the death toll from the 14 centuries of Muslim slave raids into Africa could have been over 112 million. When added to the number of those sold in the slave markets, the total number of African victims of the Trans Saharan and East African slave trade could be significantly higher than 140 million people.

Kudos to our friends at the Germantown Mosque!

But why do I have a sneaking feeling that (1) they're just as upset about the cross-dressing thing as the murder thing, (2) they're doing this more for PR value then principles, and (3) if this guy had killed a Jew in the name of Allah, they'd not only bury him but hold a parade in the street?

Oh well. Kudos nonetheless. Doing the right thing is doing the right thing, regardless of the reasons.

About the communism death toll versus the islam death toll-

commies had improved technology with which to account for their numbers, while islam, for centuries, had more primitive weapons. However- islam is now working at a quick pace to improve the technology gap, and could raise their death toll numbers with one or two bombs. iran- I'm looking at you.

El Shabazz declined to conduct the service after researching Islamic law and meeting with Saadiq Abdul Jabbar, chief executive of the mosque; Imam Talib Abdullah, and others.

Read: he couldn’t recall the Islamic loophole right off the top of his head, he had to look it up. And as it turned out in this case, the victim was not a full fledged infidel worthy of Islamic wraith for spreading mischief and naked womens.

These are pretty strong words coming from Shabazz into the Philadelphia media:

“We don’t tolerate that kind of behavior,” El Shabazz said. “Their actions are not from Islam. You don’t dress like a woman, you don’t rob people or transgress against them or commit murder. On all three grounds, they are dead wrong.

We need more and more goodly AMERICAN muslims to reject this kind of behavior from their former congregants.

It is so disturbing when any religion tries to apologize for the disgusting and violent acts of it adherents, rather than reject them out of hand. It is good to see this particular mosque not fall into that trap.

Here's hoping there are many more examples of this across the U.S. Since we know it won't happen in any other country.

My employer, a local county government located in metro Atlanta immediately created a "homeland defense" division in our police department after 911. Within two years they were caught surveiling the county District attorneys after the county CEO got paranoid of the DA's office. Nowadays they are more of a gang surveillance unit. The eye looks for patterns. Part of the art of camouflage is the process of breaking up the outline of the human body as part of the process of hiding it in what would otherwise be plain view.

Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski ..., who would have turned 40 this week, was shot dead Saturday morning as he pursued a trio of armed men who had robbed $40,000 from a Port Richmond bank branch housed in a ShopRite Supermarket.

...

During the ceremony, Liczbinski's son, Matt, addressed the throng, describing his father as "a simple man." He added, "The only thing he wanted was respect."

He then asked the congregation to join in a cheer for the Philadelphia Flyers, who will be playing a playoff game tonight. "Let's go, Flyers, let's go," he chanted, as people applauded.

...

"He's not a hero because of the way he died," Ramsey said, "He's a hero because years ago, he made a decision, he answered the call, he wanted to help others."

More than 1,500 police, family, and civilian well-wishers packed the Basilica and an adjoining chapel for the funeral Mass.

Scientology is bullshit! Man, I was there the night L. Ron Hubbard invented it, for Christ's sakes! (...) We were sitting around one night... who else was there? Alfred Bester, and Cyril Kornbluth, and Lester del Rey, and Ron Hubbard, who was making a penny a word, and had been for years. And he said "This bullshit's got to stop!" He says, "I gotta get money." He says, "I want to get rich". And somebody said, "why don't you invent a new religion? They're always big." We were clowning! You know, "Become Elmer Gantry! You'll make a fortune!" He says, "I'm going to do it."

Oh, I already redacted my own good stuff. I'm entirely on Harlan's side. But strictly speaking, ... oh, [redacted], never mind, don't even wanna go there.

On the Scientology side, a story: I once showed up for an employment interview at a reasonably well-known company, and found the reception area was also a Scientology library, including a series of large volumes on how to run a business, printed in light-blue font. I perused some pages of that while waiting. Hmm. When HR lady came to say hello, I asked about the display, got a nice cheery talk about it, you didn't have to be Scientologist to work there (but it wouldn't hurt!), and then I asked a question on something she said, some detail of points you get for doing or not doing, ... stumped her, of course, even with her manual right there on the desk, with labelled bookmarks galore. I declined any further discussions of employment, wished her a nice day, and vamoosed while the vamoosing was good.

"A-D" -

Barracuda? Swam with them in FL back in 1968. They must have NOT HAVE been too hungry at the time. Wish I would have had a camera to document this - unfortunately my camera of the time was a Model 100 Kodak Instamatic 126. Not good underwater - and - I went with the program on the camera. Got to use my dad's Minolta 7s later in the year -
I then learned the "Zen" of Silver Halide Photography. For all 'y'all Photographic "Didge - Heads" - Didge Photography started in 1976. The Originator was SONY. The Camera was called "MaViCa" - as in - Magnetic Video Camera. The first one was sold for +/- $10,000 US and resolved LESS THAN 1 Meg/Pix on 3.5 x 5 inch - in the Black Cardboard - ":Floppy - Disc." Hey, you gotta start somewhere.

314 Natasha  Fri, May 9, 2008 6:12:30pm

OK, I am late to the party... I see this is already a drinking thread. Thanks to all the beer freaks for taking the guesswork out of where to go for a drink later tonight. There is a great pub with an enormous selection of all sorts of crazy beers 2 blocks away from where I live. That means I can walk stumble home, and don't have to waste money on a cab.

Way over my head with the camera talk.

Swimming with a Barracuta? I didn't know you could do that, but it sounds cool. I need to get out more.

Well, you're half right. ;-)

/Still too young to buy any beer, even super-expensive high class beer brewed in an ancient Belgian monastery to a secret recipe passed down through generations of monks, exported to Japan and then imported back into the EU despite exorbitant import duties...

Good Evening, Lizards! I see this is the FNDT, and all y'all are into the beer.... that's cool, but I'm still a little wino, so Grammy's having Shiraz.

320 leah  Fri, May 9, 2008 7:35:33pm

as was stated in pulp fiction (i think) 'let's not start sucking each others ####s just yet'

could it be because that masjid needs permits from the city to expand?
[Link: www.temple.edu...]

could it be because the director is also a defense attorney and knows that killing a cop in Philly immediately puts any mosque that assists in any way under a very bright spot light?

El Shabazz, who is also a defense attorney, was just as adamant about fugitive Eric Floyd, who was arrested last night.

it also wreaks of Islamic supremism...we Muslims will not bury him or give him a funeral, but others can do so...

there also seems to be an opinion that the leaders of this mosque are not acting in true Islamic fashion because the crime was not committed against a Muslim...check the comments at [Link: tariqnelson.com...]

The burden of proof still remains for the leaders of the Masjid to show that Prophet (saws) or any of the Salaf refused to pray janazah explictedly for the sin of murder. I’m not going to even get in to the aspect of the fiqh of qasas for killing a non-Muslim. Just who are these Scholars that carry this oppinion?

Even after Washi accepted Islam the Prophet (saws) still shuned him for killing his uncle Humza in battle prior to his acceptance of Islam so if we use YOUR anology then this would mean that we should then also shun all Muslims for killings they did before they accepted Islam.

Respectfully I say this is why it is important to read the shar of hadith and to understand the full circumstances of a matter. Perhaps you can correct me if I’m in error but doesn’t this Masjid reject this type of qiyas or speculative analogical reasoning?

On another note where is the compassion for this brother’s family or possiblly children?

The Prophet (saw) has told and shown us to respond to our brothers when they right and when they are wrong and neither invovled turing your back.

Now if this Masjid or ANY Masjid wanted make a stance how about shuning those who beat their wives or who do not provide for their families. This would be a stance. This is corrective stances. There is nothing corrective about refusing this brother’s janazah

this is posturing no doubt and it looks like some muslims are questioning this action by a convert to islam...

14 centuries of Muslim ....
...trade could be significantly higher than 140 million people.

1 million per century for Islam.

Communism did that in 120-140 million in one century.

14 centuries, 140 million, makes 10 million per century, not 1.

Even so, the crimes committed in the name of Islam pale before the crimes committed in the name of Big Brother. Communism's only achievement was to have heroically opposed a heretical version of Communism, a splinter sect that went by the name of National Socialism. (Nazi for short.)

Please allow me to disagree. The Russians who fought against the Nazis on the Russian soil were not fighting for communism, or for Stalin. They were fighting for their families, their home, their land. They were, first and foremost, Russians. Communism had nothing to do with it. All communism is, compared to Nazism, is, excuse me, the same turd in a different toilet.

In the Magic Kingdom, the executed cop killer would have his head and body wrapped in a blanket and dumped into the trunk of a police car. The body would be driven out to the desert and the head and body would be buried in two separate unmarked holes in the ground. There would be no ceremony.

When a King is buried in Saudi, it is in an unmarked hole in the ground, save for but a couple or three stones piled one upon another, without ceremony. The burial place is a lot in old Riyadh, not far from King Abdul Aziz's old palace near Al Battah. It can be seen from a pedestrian overpass.

The terms of service for Wordpress software all have to do with ensuring that the code remains open. At Wordpress.com where they actually host blogs, the terms are different.

Interesting.

Can you just slap WordPress on a W2K3 EN SP2 machine with IIS6, php4.3, and mySQL4.0 and be good to go?

Do you absolutely need Apache?

re: #233 Colonel Panik

I sincerely doubt it was an SKS. Most likely, it was a Norinco MAK-90, a semiauto AK derivative imported until Clinton banned Chinese imports of "military-style" weapons. They're still available for a higher price on the secondary market, and are very good quality, rather accurate with a good trigger. Price ranges from $600 new to $300 completely trashed and rusted, but still functional. Lots and lots of law-abiding citizens have them as an excellent post-disaster defensive arm. In other words, not the bottom of the barrel AK-wise, that'd be the Romanian clunkers. This guy knew what he was doing.

An aside: Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's one-time "spiritual adviser", grew up in Germantown, Pennsylvania. His father was a Baptist preacher in that community.

Friends -- Tariq El Shabazz is a former Assistant DA in the Philadelphia DA's office, now a prominent criminal defense lawyer in Philly. There's NO WAY he'd give that monster/creep Howard Cain a respectable burial. There are Muslims we can and should do business with, and Tariq is one of them.
