Two things I have learned about the stray dog that I adopted from the Humane Society:

1. His previous owner took him to Petco enough so that he recognizes it instantly and goes insane when we pull into the parking lot.

2. His previous owner must bank at the same bank I do. Same reaction.

What I have learned from this:

1. I am never going to Petco again.

2. I am switching banks.

I just posted a comment at the end of the Expelled thread that may interest anyone who's following this -- after another series of long-winded dead thread posts.

It's very similar to what happened in the Eurofascism dispute; the pro-ID people are doing their best to get the last word, repeating arguments that have already been discussed to death because they know there's a good chance there won't be any more answers.

In the history of LGF, I've seen this tactic being used by Palestinian sympathizers and Eurofascist sympathizers -- and now by pro-ID shills. In every case, it's done with dishonest intent.

It's very telling to me that they use tactics like this.

I don't know their motivation. I'm just reporting my observation. If I had to guess, for some it's an obsessive desire to get the last word - and for others, it's a deliberate tactic to have their arguments be the last thing in the thread, so that it appears to be the definitive statement.

Won't matter. There is not a thing Obammessiah can say to refute ANY argument that McVain brings up. The Obammessiah does not work well without scripts. I think Obama is as awful as a politician can be.

I think that the electorate often overlooks things any deeper then what they see on the surface.

When you stand Obama up next to McCain, McCain is at the disadvantage for all voters who can't see any deeper then what they see on the surface.

other posters waaay after the thread was thought to be over. And I've observed it most often in the European-Fascists threads and my theory is simple:
they are cowards. When they rate other posters, or when they post comments with no new ideas, much less facts after they believe the thread is over and no one is looking, they do so without fear of being "attacked" (you and most of us would consider it opposed or debated).

At one time when Geepers and I were playing we were able to keep extra windows open with the comment area ready for after a thread closing and we found we could get in as many comments as we had available windows. You'd have to check and close this loop hole.

Hey O.R. - Charles can obviously answer this for himself, but I'm not talking about folks who post comments on threads that are a day or two (or longer) past the thread date; I'm talking about folks who post when they think no one else is going to read and comment on their posts. I hope you see the difference.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. And yes, I've noticed the same thing going on with ratings, although I think that's more likely to be innocent -- someone reading an older thread could use the ratings buttons as they read. Doesn't have to be with intent to skew the perception of the debate.

I think the electorate can be incredibly shallow and fickle.

Obama's biggest and only strength is that he looks good and can make a scripted speech sing like a choir. It might be enough.

I'm inclined to agree with you.
In a fair debate, I can see McCain besting Obama despite being older and shorter. But who says the MSM will make it fair? Highly unlikely.
Based on actual questions once asked:
Question for Obama: Do you think that your remarkable life reflects the kind of change you want for America?
Question for McCain: Did you call your wife a c***?
Allowing for exaggeration, that's what I would expect.
And call me paranoid, but it would not surprise me if Obama were better prepared for the debates....cough, cough....the way some students are better prepared for examinations....tip offs on the questions ahead of time.

I think the whole key to the '08 election is the electorate. If that sounds overly elemental, it possibly is. I just don't think we have the same body of voters that we had in 2000 and 2004. We have a younger electorate, and more immigrants who are on the Gravy Train.

If Hizballah takes over (and since a lot of the Lebanese army will go to their side), then their next step will be to attack Israel. I wonder if they have long-range missiles that they can launch from near Beirut. If so, Israel will have to attack Beirut, and of course, Israel will be condemned for any casualties, not Hizballah for putting military facilities in a civilian area.
But that is Hizballah's motus operandi.

It will be much safer to be in Sderot than near Hizballah launchers, which they'd put on top of civilian buildings if they could.

Too often politicians and pollsters forget that important fact.

"You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to you." - Heraclitus

Every election and every poll is only good for that moment the last vote is cast or the last respondent has answered. Tomorrow is always different.

Well they won't even need to launch from Beirut. Last time the war was confined to the south because Hezbollah couldn't operate outside of their area. Now that they have free reign in Beirut they can use it for support and supply for activity in the south. Beirut will be a target in the next conflict with Israel.
