Q: What Did Obama Know About Rev. Wright? A: Everything.

Sat, May 10, 2008 at 1:03:54 pm PDT

Stanley Kurtz has a devastating piece in the Weekly Standard, analyzing a year’s worth of the news magazine published by Reverend Jeremiah Wright: Jeremiah Wright’s ‘Trumpet’.

To the question of the moment—What did Barack Obama know and when did he know it?—I answer, Obama knew everything, and he’s known it for ages. Far from succumbing to surprise and shock after Jeremiah Wright’s disastrous performance at the National Press Club, Barack Obama must have long been aware of his pastor’s political radicalism. A careful reading of nearly a year’s worth of Trumpet Newsmagazine, Wright’s glossy national “lifestyle magazine for the socially conscious,” makes it next to impossible to conclude otherwise.

Obama pulled a Kerry by not addressing this issue soon enough. In the long run it will seriously undermine his credibility. Not to mention that he's getting tired of debates and we haven't gone into the general election process. The softball questions are getting fewer and he is starting to face tougher questions. It seems he can't handle those questions.

The guys who wants to be President called an America-hating Marxist racist lunatic as his spiritual adviser for pretty much his entire adult life. But when it became politically expedient, he tossed the crazy old bastard under the bus.

Obama is a liar. Either he lied to TUCC for using their church to get cred with the African American community he wanted to exploit for votes. Or he lied to everyone else when he disassociated with Wright.

Just skimming Kurtz's article is a real treat. Wright believes Africans discovered America before Columbus. He published an article defending raving Troofer Cynthia McKinney, "illustrated with pictures of McKinney in model-like poses." Oh, and apparently Trinity has white members. Why would a white person attend week after week to be berated for being an evil white oppressor? That takes white guilt to a whole new level.

87 dave fitz  Sat, May 10, 2008 1:33:30pm

After Obama's associations with William Ayers (complete with his Spet. 11, 2001 editorial) why is anything left of his candidacy?

Is the concept of shame just so alien to today's voters that they cannot embarrass this utter travesty of a politician into quitting? What would a Republican have to do to receive the "walk up Pennsylvania Avenue" in today's environment?

For example, if a Republican senator were close friends with one of the Birmingham bombers from the days of the civil rights movement, and said bomber had repeatedly stated "I don't think we planted enough bombs", how long would said senator be pummeled with this association? We've had LLLs demanding W's arrest, imprisonment and trial because he went ahead and fought a war the Clinton White House saw coming- what would they do with a picture of W hugging a Klansman? (Their heads would probably explode.)

Maybe we need to get rid of public education- somewhere in the tolerance of all belief systems necessary for a socialized education system, the concept of some beliefs being wrong or bad has gotten lost and we wind up with junior senators running for President with past associations which would generally keep them from being seriously considered for dogcatcher.

SOMETHING is certainly wrong- I say let's fix it.

Dave

I don't think the william ayers thing is over. It obviously struck a huge nerve when it was brought up in that debate so I don't think we've seen the last of it. The more it's pushed, the more their refusal to answer will work against them and they'll eventually have to address it and that's when it will start to impact Obama's campaign negatively.

Absolutely. He stands even less chance in "clingy" states that don't have the large Afr-Am population the South does.
The WVA primary may tell the story. Very few blacks, very few moonbat college students. Very, very clingy. Also very pro-union, old-style Democrat. I suspect they'll spit Obama out like a dead chaw.
And that's just the Democrat voters.

96 Independent Voter123  Sat, May 10, 2008 1:36:24pm

MLK is benchmark upon which Americans measure themselves with respect to race and justice. I don't think MLK would have had anything to do with Wright. In fact, I believe his message creates dependence and not independence. When you tell a child that he/she cannot succeed in life, you make one powerless, not empowered. Those who believe that the USA is the same now, with respect to race, as it was in 1619, 1877 or 1964 are ignorant of the facts. If his message didn't do so much damage to the community he claims to fight and speak for, he'd be a laughable fool that people would ignore without so much as a second thought.

I'd be more curious as to who Obama was friends with in that Church of his. For instance, it's well known that some faculty members of the very radical The Center for Inner City Studies (CICS) which is connected to Northeastern Illinois University were ( are ) also members of Wright's Church. These individuals follow the ideology of Afrocentrism.
Is Obama friends with these people?

Don't blame poor Michelle
See Michelle Malkin's article on Sharon Jasper of New Orleans
"it's pitiful what people give you"
So if the gal from New Orleans isn't happy with her 'slum' dwelling and her 60" T.V., why should the esteemed Mrs. Obama be satisfied with what she has been 'given'? Not to mention all the poor people she's preaching to.
She scares me more than Wright does

109 offendi  Sat, May 10, 2008 1:42:08pm

The Clintons' take down of Barry the Messiah continues. Who found the amazing Rev. Wright if not them?

Obama may have won the battle (2008 nomination) but he is going to lose the war ( 2012 nomination and control of the democratic party ) to these two skilled knife fighters. You can bet they are doing more investigative work on Barry than the Maverick ever could or would.

No doubt Barry the Pure is going to be dunked into the Rezko dirt as well. Much harder to recover if you claim you are a new and different type of politician.

Seeing that pic of Obama the other day all smiley faced thinking he has wrapped up the nomination reminded me of Fredo in the "Goodfather" getting into the boat that last time. The poor guy is going to get slapped upside the head by the Clintons the balance of the year, even if they "endorse" him at some point.

Obama = the Mike Dukakis of the early 21 st century.

Grannies Popcorn Recipes -

Microwave Popcorn -

Put a couple of small handfuls (a scant 1/4 cup) of popping corn into a paper lunch bag. Fold the top down 1/2 inch, then fold over twice. Pop in the microwave on high about 4 minutes. No, you don't need to add oil. Yes, big agribusiness has been ripping you off for a paper bag for quite some while.

Vermont Style -

Add butter to the popped corn if desired, then sprinkle generously with Vermont Maple Pepper. Yum, yum. Sweet and a little bit hot at the same time.

Popcorn Italiano -

Add grated Parmesan or Romano cheese to hot popped corn. Freshly grated is best.

Cheese Corn -

Sprinkle with powdered cheddar cheese. You can buy it in a can or steal the package out of the mac&cheese box.

Southwestern -

Melt butter for the popcoren with a tad of grated lime rind in it. Toss well, then sprinkle the corn with either New Mexico chile or a bit of Chile Powder.

That he has no experience
That he is on the Far Left
That he is supported by enemies of the United States
That many of his advisers and friends are despicable characters
That his wife harbors an antipathy toward the United States
That his promises are bogus
That those of his promises that are not bogus will ruin this country
That he will raise their taxes
That he is smug and condescending toward many Americans
That he lies

And knowing all that, millions and millions will vote for him and he may be the next President.

Hmm? Michelle does wear the pants in the family.

[Link: en.wikipedia.org...]

Michelle Robinson was born in Chicago, Illinois to Frasier Robinson (who died in 1990),[1] a city water plant employee and Democratic precinct captain, and Marian Robinson, a secretary at Spiegel's catalog store;[2] she grew up in the South Shore community area of Chicago.[2][3] She was raised in a conventional two-parent home where the family convened around the dinner table nightly.[4] She and her brother, Craig (who is 16 months older), skipped the second grade.[2] Michelle graduated from Whitney Young High School in 1981[5] and went on to major in sociology and minor in African American studies at Princeton University, where she graduated cum laude with an Artium Baccalaureus in 1985.[2] As part of her requirements for graduation, she wrote a thesis entitled, "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community."[6] She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School in 1988.[7] While at Harvard, she participated in political demonstrations advocating the hiring of professors who are minorities. [8]
Barack and Michelle Obama
Barack and Michelle Obama

She met Barack Obama when they were the only two African Americans at their law firm and she was assigned to mentor him while he was a summer associate.[9] Their relationship started with a business lunch and then a community organization meeting where he first impressed her.[10] The couple's first date was to the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing.[11] The couple married in October 1992,[10] and they have two daughters, Malia Ann (born 1998) and Natasha (known as Sasha) (born 2001).[12] Her brother Craig was the fourth leading scorer in Princeton University's men's basketball history, and is both a former Brown University's men's basketball coach and the current Oregon State Beavers men's basketball coach.[13]

She once requested that Barack, who was then her fiancé, meet her prospective boss when considering her first career move.[4] Now, she is her husband’s closest adviser.[14][15] Early in the presidential race she did not portray herself as an adviser, however. In fact, she was quoted in interviews saying "My job is not a senior adviser."[

Don't worry about it for my sake. I pass right by a public library on my way home from work. I plan on stopping in.

The standard view holds that Clovis people were the
first to enter the Americas, migrating from Siberia 13,500
years ago by a now-submerged land bridge across the Bering
Strait. This view has been challenged recently by a wide range
of discoveries, including an astonishingly well-preserved site
in South America predating the supposed migration by at
least 1,000 years.
Researchers delving into the origins question have sought
to make sense of archaeological finds far and wide, from
Canada, California and Chile; from Siberia; and even, most
controversially, from France and Spain. The possibility that
the first people in the Americas came from Europe is the
boldest proposal among a host of new ideas. According to
University of Texas at Austin archaeologist Michael Collins,
the chief excavator of the Gault site, “you couldn’t have a
more exciting time to be involved in the whole issue of the
peopling of the Americas. You can’t write a paper on it and
get it published before it’s out of date. Surprising new finds
keep rocking the boat and launching fresh waves of debate.”

There was a riot on the streets
Tell me where were you?
You were sittin' home watchin' your TV
While I was participating in some anarchy
First spot we hit it was my liquor store
I finally got all that alcohol I can't afford
With red lights flashin', time to retire
And then we turned that liquor store into a structure fire
Next stop we hit, it was the music shop,
It only took one brick to make that window drop
Finally we got our own P.A.
Where do you think I got this guitar that you're hearing today?

Agreed. But the undecided voters will turn you off completely if you try to make them believe he shouldn't be president because he doesn't know how many states there are. It's a losing argument.

Obama said there were 57 states? If he did, please don't use that as a reason not to vote for him. Like him or not, the guy is Harvard law. Using "57 states" makes it look like there is nothing to criticize. I think we all know he knows how many states there are. That's irritating.

The reason to criticize the faux pas has nothing to do with where he went to school. What it has to do with is every malpropism that has been uttered by Bush in the last 7 years is on the nightly news, and celebrated on the left as "proof" that Bush is (was) an illiterate party guy that only got through good schools because of his father.
We mention THE MESSIAHS slip as contrast

Let's face it, Barack H. Obama will be the 44th president of the United States.

Hillary is out, although she has yet to concede.
McCain, although he's a decent man in many ways, does not inspire enthusiasm on the part of the electorate.

Like it or not, Barack will be elected. Let's just hope that he doesn't screw things up too badly in his four years in office.

173 Tigger2005  Sat, May 10, 2008 2:32:27pm

What has happened to this country? A person like Barack Obama should not have a prayer of even being elected dogcatcher. Based on his lack of experience and accomplishments alone, he should not have a ghost of a chance of being President.

The mainstream media have failed utterly in their task of informing the American people. Of course, as they see it, they didn't actually "fail." They've accomplished exactly what they wanted by potraying Obama in beatific, worshipful terms and refusing to utter a negative word or fact about him, or dig up any dirt on him.

Now, even if some of them (very few) might be having second thoughts about "Big O," they'll never admit it. That would mean 'fessing up to their liberal bias and their determination to prove that not only can they destroy Presidents, they can make them. Out of nothing.

But I'm not putting all the blame on the press. Shame on the naive and uninformed Americans who cast their vote for this man. Whatever guilt or self-hatred they may feel on account of their race and nationality, I cannot believe they hate their country as much as Barack, Michelle, their pastor, and his cronies do.

Yes, McCain met with LaRaza. Just remember, McCain cannot open the borders all by himself. It was DEMOCRATS who introduced the SAVE Act, under pressure from their constituents. If Democrats are introducing sound anti-illegal immigration legislation, just imagine the enormous pressure McCain will be under to revise his immigration stance once elected.

Barack Hussein Obama must NOT sit in the Oval Office. Not for one single second.

I made a video that juxtaposes Senator O's comments on flag pins. He clearly said one thing flat out, then denied it, then called people liars for noticing. The point was NOT flag pins - it was his reaction. The hard thing is to get people to focus on Senator O's flip-flopping and his inevitable "you are disrespecting me" reaction. It is hard - people come to the argument with strong opinions on Senator O, and they tend to see only what they want to see - or hear.

Nobody is argueing that mis-stating how many states there are will keep people from voting for him. We have many discussions here about his policies (or lack thereof) and judgement (which IS a qualification for Pres.)
His stating that he has been in "all states but one ,,, 57 I believe" ,,, is just a funny aside, like making fun of Hillarys statement of where her name came from

I have to agree that the "57 States" slipup, while fun to make fun of, shouldn't be pushed too much. People have said they would never have made that mistake because "50 States" is too ingrained in their minds. Well, the argument could be made that this is exactly why Obama made the slipup ... that "50" was the first thing that came to his mind.

Laugh about it and forget it. It's a sideshow. Don't let people think we have nothing else to attack Obama with, because there are more solid reasons this man should not be President than there have been for all other Presidential candidates in U.S. history, combined. And then some.

I do not believe that Discovery, History, TLC, or National Geographic channel are unaffiliated. I think they share a connection, especially with the BBC. They share a left wing outlook too. I'm trying to remember the last time I was shouting at the TV during a History Channel show, but what they had just stated as fact was completely unsubstantiated by facts, which they conveniently never presented, and I think it was a show on biological weapons, and they stated that the British had given the Indians (American) smallpox infected blankets. Well, I know that not a shred of evidence has ever been unearthed to substantiate this charge. No documents, no testimony, no writings. It was a lie presented as a fact.

Last year, I think it may have been in the summertime, I started reading the TUCC Sunday bulletin online. This was before scrutiny began, and the makeover had not happened. I knew way back then what kind of church this was and exactly what their message was. Anybody versed in Protestant Christianity could have called this for what it was.

The media either did not look, or did not know it when they saw it because they had no clue what the true Gospel looks like. It is hard to detect a forgery when you are unfamiliar with the look and texture of the original.

Its only a fraud if you think he is doing anything but an informative TV show. If you realize that, then its useful, if you think hes out there by himself about to die from exposure, then your only being silly.

re: #233 mama winger

Heh.

Katie Casey was baseball mad,
Had the fever and had it bad;
Just to root for the home town crew,
Ev'ry sou Katie blew.
On a Saturday, her young beau
Called to see if she'd like to go
To see a show but Miss Katie said,
"No, I'll tell you what you can do."

"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game."

Katie Casey saw all the games,
Knew the players by their first names;
Told the umpire he was wrong,
All along good and strong.
When the score was just two to two,
Katie Casey knew what to do,
Just to cheer up the boys she knew,
She made the gang sing this song:

"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game."

Yep, I do miss Harry Caray.

I lived in SAmerica until I came here to go to college. I remember thinking the US had 48 states. My American father, of course, grew up when there were only 48, so I must have gotten it from him.

Incidentally, I have some problems with someone not raised in the US being POTUS. I base that on my own experience, identity problems, etc.
Of course, BHO and I have resolved the "problem," as it were, in very different ways.

I actually was in grade school when we got the last two states into the union. All the flags had to be replaced, and everyone made a big deal out of Hawaii and some about Alaska (not as much, since it doesn't have hula dancers). I am, yes, dating myself horribly by admitting this. :)

Oh, if she wins, he'll stick around for sure.
In fact, I don't see the two of them getting a divorce at all.
Why bother? They don't really live together.
Anyway, they each have so much dirt on the other one, that it's not in either's interest to split up.

But considering how dirty Clintons fight, a Clinton vs. Clinton divorce would be hilarious! It'd make the War of the Roses look like suppertime at the Waltons.

Except that Obama paints McCain as losing his bearings, trying to make him look senile. And gets away with it. So it's good to throw this "losing your bearings" back at him at every opportunity.

Everyone knows it's the boys who got paddled. In my years in school I only knew of one girl that got paddled. BTW it stopped when I got to Jr. High. I think that's when corporal punishment began to be frowned upon.

One of the reasons I left my job as a speech therapist in the public schools was the total lack of discipline, and the total helplessness of the personnel to do anything about it.

Discipline brings freedom to learn. No discipline breeds chaos, and learning does not occur in chaos.

Unless he was deaf, dumb, and blind, he agreed with him. This is my whole problem with "African" Americans. My ancestors are from Germany. I'm not a "German" American. My best friends families came here from Israel. They're not "Israeli" Americans. Just be an American. Leave the racial and ethnic crap out of it.

My mother was born and bred in Bolivia, but is a naturalized American.
When she gets a form asking for her ethnicity, she doesn't check "Hispanic," she checks "other" and writes in American.

(That doesn't mean she despises her old country and culture, BTW.)

re: #183 Steffan

"Native" Americans, from what I've heard, migrated here from Asia and are distant cousins of the Mongols.

Louis L'Amour wrote that the Indians had stories about their ancestors hunting "hairy elephants" and "long-fanged cats."

Ever heard of the LaBrea Tar Pits? They had hair elephants and long-toothed cats in North America too, you know.

Archaeology is a muddled mess, basically.

re: #206 maddogg

what they had just stated as fact was completely unsubstantiated by facts, which they conveniently never presented, and I think it was a show on biological weapons, and they stated that the British had given the Indians (American) smallpox infected blankets. Well, I know that not a shred of evidence has ever been unearthed to substantiate this charge. No documents, no testimony, no writings. It was a lie presented as a fact.

That kind of "myth as fact" crap is absolutely the norm on TV in general, and the "educational channels" in particular.

Science, technology, history - doesn't matter what, I guess they just can't afford to hire fact-checkers, or more likely don't care.

We need a "Mythbusters" that is less entertainment and more myth-busting. Don't get me wrong, they're entertaining, but some of what they say is so greviously wrong you just know they knew better and didn't care.

I mean, nobody's perfect, but you'd expect "educational channels" would at least strive to not be wrong 30-40 times a day.

Spelling is not a sign of anything except being able to spell. There are tools to help those who need it.

Nothing can help a fool.

Actually, I strongly believe that if spelling were taught logically, based on etymology, many would find it easier. For example, all words with "ph" for the "f" sound are from Greek.

Well, except for "phat."

I have yet to see any shining examples of Obama's intellect being anything above average.

Obama has stage presence and an above average oratorical ability.

The former only qualifies him to act in TV commercials, while the latter would place him a step above our current president, assuming Obama has a teleprompter and a prepared script.

Those two qualities are shared/exceeded by former Republican candidate Fred Thompson, who had considerably more governmental and international experience than Obama and Hillary combined.

One thing I know Obama can do well is to deliver the words of others in a captivating way.

This quality is the one that I believe is genuine. It is also the quality that scares the crap out of me.

I am not afraid.....but I agree --all attention is riveted on what comes of it..........and shining up my armor..... :)

no ,, my POINT is YOU stated that Obama is a 'brilliant intellect' . If your making the point that he MUSt be because A) he went to Harvard and B) he was the editor of the law review, YOU are sadly in error, As you stated, ther ARE brilliant people that NEVER went to college. There are also MANY non- "brilliant intellects" that have attended Harvard

If you read the description of Grant in the book "Lincoln and his Generals" you will see that Grant was quite a man.

Obama is not losing his mojo....he's ahead of McCain in almost every national poll.

I know a woman - a friend and co-worker - who really reminds me of Mrs. Obama. She is strong, opinionated, speaks her mind, is six feet tall, and African American. The only difference is she doesn't have an "it's because I'm black" chip the size of Ohio on her shoulder.

I keep wanting to like Mrs. Obama, because of my friend reminding me of her, but the chip is a deal-breaker.

Obama's campaign apparently won't agree to release his Harvard grades. He graduated magna cum laude, apparently, so I don't see why they should not do so.

His transcript would reveal what classes he took as well.

Obama's command of the English language is pretty pathetic.

It's not important if Obama "wrote" for the Harvard Law Review. I'm only saying the best and the brightest at Harvard Law become editor. If people don't believe that only really smart people get into Harvard Law, and the smartest of the smart become editor of the Harvard Law Review. They are not too smart. Look, I want to State U. AND I won't be voting for Obama. I just hate blindstubborness.

Jimmy Carter also has had a decent education, but it doesn't automatically come with any common sense.
