Arab League 'Condemns' Hizballah

Sun, May 11, 2008 at 10:34:04 am PDT

The Arab League has condemned Hizballah for using weapons.

Because they weren’t using those weapons to kill Jews.

The Arab League condemned Hizbullah for using its weapons within Lebanese territory. The League’s foreign ministers who gathered in Cairo, called for an immediate ceasefire.

I'm actually impressed.

Arab wordsmithing has reached 21st century sophistication, where they can censure the use of violence, while still promoting it against Jews, without using the word 'but'.

Too bad their mindset is still in the 7th century.

Oh well.

The 1983 Beirut barracks attack should have been the last thing Hizballah ever did. Unfortunately Reagen gave in State,, and the precedent of letting them get away with murder was established.

A toast to the State Department:

You need a score card.

As for the Arab League, they can't be too happy to have this Persian proxy causing problems in the region. At some point, you just know they're going to covertly come to the U.S. and ask us to solve their problems again. Using our military of course.

19 lawhawk  Sun, May 11, 2008 11:07:16am

That's not the whole reason - the Saudis realize that the Syrians and Iranians are pushing a Shi'ite agenda, and the Saudis were pushing this statement because they know what's coming next - it's enhancing Iranian influence in the region.

The Saudis are trying to hem in Iranian influence, and this is one of the ways.

Of course, the real way to stop Iranian influence will not come from the Saudis or the Arab League, but from the Israelis or the US should Hizbullah get overconfident in their capabilities.

More bad news. Hizballah now has their own terrorist navy.

Military sources report that three weeks before Hizballah seized western Beirut, the Shiite terrorist group took delivery of 35 fast speedboats for use with explosives from Iran. The craft can threaten US Sixth Fleet and Israel Navy shipping close to Lebanese shores, reach Israel’s Haifa and Ashdod Mediterranean ports and raid its coastal oil installations.

That's what I find so interesting. They can't/won't control Hebobollah. Hezbollah can do whatever it wants, the only thing preventing all out civil war is that the other factions refuse to fight. Hezbollah owns Lebanon by default. Nobody will stand in their way.

Indeed it does - the cultures and pepoles islam destroyed in its 1400 yers of jihad are uncounted, irreplaceable - we've nearly forgotten all those early ones in the ME and North Africa - but think of the Balinese, or the embattled Christians in Indonesia.

Very true.It used to be considered the Paris of the Middle East with Christians in control.
By all accounts it was a place of tolerance & great sea side resorts.

The Christians in Lebanon seem to be split into fractions. The Sunnis are fighting hissbolla, and the ones who never get mentioned are the Druze. These seem to be fighting, against their leader's (Jumblat) wishes - and hissbolla does seem to be just a tad worried about them.

Just because there are no huge explosions doesn't mean its quiet in Beirut ...

Frankly, I haven't a clue as to how this is going to end - hissbolla seems to be on the winning side so far, but I'm not so sure that its going to stay that way.

CAIR: Defending Terrorists Who Target American Muslims?

On 8 May, the Chicago Tribune carried a news story about a mock hostage drill conducted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The drill apparently involved hostages, simulated explosions, and nerve gas.
.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an Islamic terrorist supporting organization, has naturally protested the mock drill.

From the article:

“Ahmed Rehab of the Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations says the exercise wrongly typecast Islamic houses of worship as security threats. Rehab says he has no reason to believe the exercise was meant to be malicious, but it still perpetuates a stereotype linking all Muslims to terrorism.”

Let’s take this from the top, shall we? Law enforcement runs a mock hostage-taking drill involving a mosque; law enforcement responds, the hostages are freed and the bad guys are neutralized (...)

Ahmed Rehab was quoted, “...but it still perpetuates a stereotype linking all Muslims to terrorism”.

We only wish that Rehab had told us how the saving of American Muslims from unidentified terrorists “perpetuates a stereotype linking all Muslims to terrorism”.

Even more outrageous was the terror-supporter Ahmed Rehab's demands for a meeting with Undersheriff Rick Robbins, who helped plan this exercise. Because Robbins allowed a phone call "meeting" to proceed, Rehab and CAIR can now tout this "conversation" with Robbins as a P.R. victory.

Rehab, if he was really a law enforcement supporter, would have only said "Thank You" in that phone conversation.

Instead, Rehab weaseled his way into the law enforcement fabric with Undersheriff Robbins, and as all good lackeys at the terror-front CAIR do, tried to slime himself into "partnering" with the Sheriff’s department on "security and sensitivity issues". This move alone by Rehab should give notice to the Sheriffs Department of Montgomery County that CAIR should be shunned from ever getting close to Law Enforcement. CAIR is a proven front group for the Muslim Brotherhood and was founded by members of Hamas.

Undersheriff Robbins and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department should take serious note. “Partnering”, meeting with, taking “training” from; or otherwise dealing with CAIR will demonstrate to the public that Robbin’s department clearly does not understand the threat of radical Islam in our country. CAIR has been declared "unindicted co-conspirators" for its proven links to Islamic terror.

Note to law enforcement professionals: There is no law that requires you neither to respond to CAIR...nor to accept “sensitivity training” from Islamic terrorism front groups.

The following is a very recent example of CAIR’s “assistance” to law enforcement.

This example involves Virginia’s Fairfax County Police; an officer recently plead guilty to tipping off a terrorism suspect to FBI surveillance.

Not only did Sgt. Weiss Rasool tip off a terrorism suspect to FBI surveillance, he and another officer, an officer that claimed to represent CAIR, successfully halted a terror training program in 2006 administered by the Higgins Center for Counter Terrorism Research (...)

"Another officer who joined Rasool in complaining about the Higgins program works for an area sheriff's department ...that officer claimed to be a representative from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)" (...)

As Patrick Poole illustrates in CAIR-OH revisited, 1999: CAIR-OH rushes to aid pre-9/11 dry-run hijackers - it seems that when efforts to bolster security and law enforcement capabilities in America are thwarted for the sake of "Muslim sensitivities", CAIR’s black hand is never too far behind...dripping with blood. (...)

What would the poor Muslims do if there was no one left to hate?

Adolt said that if Jews didn't exist, it would be necessary to invent them. So my guess is they would invent Jews. Or kuffar. Or apostates. Or people making mischief in the land. Or someone rich. Or poor. Or smart. Or fun-loving. Or something.

Sharing the News Google-Fu

The process I use to find stories is pretty simple, but I thought I would share techniques with the army of lizards out there, since I come up with stories you won't find in the MSM or elsewhere until three days later.

First, choose your key words with care - throw a big net with your search and then sift the results finer.

In the morning I use a quick search for "bomb" and "killed" , each separately.
Well that will get you a lot of stories, most non-pertinent. So you click the "News" link in Google, then you click "last day" in the sidebar. Voila, you will have most all of the terror incidents worldwide after a quick skim of the first five pages of links. I try to abjure everything that shows up with a date instead of "last x hours" because those stories are already stale in most cases.

Using the same technique, you can search for areas of interest - e.g. "Fatwa", "Islam" "Egypt" "Taliban" "Al Qaeda" "Mohammed" "Muhammed" "Syria" "Hamas" "Abdullah" "Hezbollah" etc. etc.

On rare occasions you do need to narrow the initial search: e.g. a search on "Obama" is going to overwhelm, but a Search for Obama Ayers will produce a better tally if you are interested in that angle.

Sometimes you find zero news stories if you use a refined search on something obscure, then you have to go the web results or pick a different word.

e.g. if you are looking for news on terror reports from Thailand you won't always find them with a search for that word, so instead try "pattani" or "yala" which are the two provinces terror occurs most in.

Why go five pages deep? Because Google returns aren't ordered by most recent -- the search engine uses authority, most clicks and other things known only to google, so an important breaking story could be five pages deep.

Searching google news does have a sort by date feature (upper right side). I always search sorted by date, Lizards are pretty quick and it's the best way to catch the fresh stuff.

I understand that.... what I don't understand is the fact that we've been at war (technically) with them since '79 and haven't done a damned thing about it.

I won't forget the Delta Force disaster that occurred while trying to rescue the hostages.

As for having a plan to deal with them, I'm sure USN DOES have a plan, what I don't know is if the POTUS will let them impliment that plan. If it were left to me, I would issue orders that the ship commander has the first say and if he feels threatened, proper retaliation is in order. Then the POTUS will smooth ruffled feathers if/when the boats get blown out of the water.

If they think they can harrass our ships without retaliation, they will continue to do so. Meet force with force. "Peace through Strength"

Don't have time to read the whole thread, but what concerns me is that with Hizballah in charge of Beirut, they'll launch missiles from there, requiring Israel to attack Beirut to stop the launches, and then they'll make a big stink about the civilian casualties, getting the UN to condemn Israel, without mentioning the war crime of installing military facilities in a civilian area.
As far as Hizballah is concerned, civilians are useful when they get killed by Israel; they don't care about them (except that they're willing to get them sent to paradise).

Of course, if the UN had held their side of the agreement, Hizballah wouldn't have been able to rearm.
I think the UN should be relocated to Beirut, and the Lebanese Christians allowed to come to the US for asylum.

Armageddon to be a Habit With Me
--with apologies to Harry Warren & Al Dubin, "You're Getting to Be a Habit With Me"

I don't know exactly how it started
Perhaps with the Koran
I just wanted all the world to become
Devout Mohammedans
And now I realize that I can't let the killing go
I just want the death toll to grow

Ev'ry death by a thug seems to act just like a drug
Armageddon to be a habit with me
Causing infidels harm with the sword held in my arm
Armageddon to be a habit with me
I used to think murder was something that I
Could take or leave alone
But now I couldn't do without slicing necks
Until I touch the bone
Can't wipe blood-lust away, I must slake it every day
Upon someone who thinks he's free
It's got me in its clutches--that's all right with me--
Armageddon to be a habit with me
(Can't break it)
Armageddon to be a habit with me.

Excellent wordsmithing.... :>)

Remember the daily, hourly, condemnations of Israel. Israel was acting "disproportionately". Israel was brutal. Israel was bombing indiscriminately and massacring everybody.

Why Israel's behavior was so atrocious that Condi Rice was moved to action to force them to stop. Allowing the innocent Hezbolah victims to fight another day.

Well. Never mind

Referring to what he described as 'attacks on innocent civilians' Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said the situation was worse than in the fighting with Israel. He said: "What is going on in Beirut by the militia is something that Israel never dared to do."

hi guys, i know i'm a bit late to the party (again) but thought i'd throw in a few comments.

it's a total mess here. the druze have been fighting hezbollah et al viciously all day, trying to defend the Mountain. we have no idea whether this situation is going to settle down to a new era where hezbollah unofficially, but openly, rules the country (which would mean a bigger war within the next year), whether the fighting will continue and escalate, whether space aliens will land here, etc. it's so uncertain.

what is certain, however, is that hezbollah has ruined itself domestically. except for a few small, extremist groupings, ALL the sunnis, christians and druze now hate and distrust hezbollah at least as much as the lizard crowd does :) i'm talking serious, irreparable hatred (not that there was much love a week ago, either). hezbollah may win this battle, but they'll lose the war.

the USS cole is on its way back towards lebanon. no idea yet what this means.

finally, a quick word on the christians. a lot of people here don't believe hezbollah will dare try to invade/occupy christian areas, but i wouldn't put it past them. the christians, however, will fight to the death to defend their neighborhoods. if hezbollah does try to come over here, expect a bloodbath. many people will die, but the christians will in all likelihood repel them as they did the syrians decades ago.

hope you all are doing well, happy mothers day to all the moms out there!

re: #93 Killgore Trout

Searching google news does have a sort by date feature (upper right side). I always search sorted by date, Lizards are pretty quick and it's the best way to catch the fresh stuff.

arrggj, they do?

re: #160 valentine81

hi guys, i know i'm a bit late to the party (again) but thought i'd throw in a few comments.

it's a total mess here. the druze have been fighting hezbollah et al viciously all day, trying to defend the Mountain. we have no idea whether this situation is going to settle down to a new era where hezbollah unofficially, but openly, rules the country (which would mean a bigger war within the next year), whether the fighting will continue and escalate, whether space aliens will land here, etc. it's so uncertain.

what is certain, however, is that hezbollah has ruined itself domestically. except for a few small, extremist groupings, ALL the sunnis, christians and druze now hate and distrust hezbollah at least as much as the lizard crowd does :) i'm talking serious, irreparable hatred (not that there was much love a week ago, either). hezbollah may win this battle, but they'll lose the war.

the USS cole is on its way back towards lebanon. no idea yet what this means.

finally, a quick word on the christians. a lot of people here don't believe hezbollah will dare try to invade/occupy christian areas, but i wouldn't put it past them. the christians, however, will fight to the death to defend their neighborhoods. if hezbollah does try to come over here, expect a bloodbath. many people will die, but the christians will in all likelihood repel them as they did the syrians decades ago.

hope you all are doing well, happy mothers day to all the moms out there!

Our most sincere good wishes and many prayers for all of you.

I took the liberty of linking your post on the 'Sunday Afternoon Open' thread above ^^^.

Please let me play POTUS for a sec. Here is how I would smooth the ruffled feathers...

"What the "f" were your "f-ing" little boats doing near my big ones you stupid s*its! Come near them again and we'll bomb your capitol!"

Tactful?

FBV for POTUS in 08!

The fig leaf has come off the sham known as the Lebanese Government and now it should be known that Lebanon is a proto Hizballunatic state with Iran in control thanks to the blazing incompetency of Olmerde.

Coddling terrorists since ... AD 610, fixed that.
