Zombie: when you show the gal with the low-cut shirt, you describe it as "an intentional flaunting of conservative Muslim customs."
She's definitely flaunting what she's got, but what you mean to say is that she is flouting conservative Muslim customs.
It can be both ways. Via MerriamWebster:
Main Entry: flaunt
Pronunciation: %u02C8flo%u0307nt, %u02C8flänt
Function: verb
Etymology: perhaps of Scandinavian origin; akin to Old Norse flana to rush around
Date: 1566
intransitive verb
1 : to display or obtrude oneself to public notice (a great flaunting crowd — Charles Dickens)
2 : to wave or flutter showily (the flag flaunts in the breeze)
transitive verb
1 : to display ostentatiously or impudently : parade (flaunting his superiority)
2 : to treat contemptuously

Thanks for your excellent reporting again, Zombie.
As I was looking through your photos, I had to wonder. How does someone in the Queers for Palestine organization, or a gay Palestinian rapper, or a westernized Arab-American college girl dressed in tight clothes with a provocative 'haram' emblazoned on her chest, rationalize their life here with what they campaign for there?
They can't be serious about actually wanting to live in the society they say they want "from the river to the sea," ruled by Hamas jihadis.
I suppose they're willing to cheer on continued intifada from a safe distance,
protected by the freedoms they enjoy here.
What internal benefit do they receive for this activity?
Are their lives so empty that these assemblies are what they do for fun
or to make their lives meaningful?
Calling them moonbats seems so inadequate to explain that vacuum
where their brains might have been.

One should point out that this "Festival" openly stated that its intent was to work for the destruction of Israel.
(see Zombie's quote from the former thread, or check it's site)
It is ONLY Israel that anyone states should be destroyed for its actions. Even though more people are killed a day in Darfur, than in months in Israel, noone calls for the dismantling of Sudan. Eventhough China has been occupying Tibet for practically as long as Israel reclaimed Judea and Samaria, noone calls for the destruction of China, even when Rwanda was murdering thousands, noone called for its destruction, etc., etc., etc. Yet, Israel, the lone Jewish state should be "destroyed". This is why I claim that much of the "Anti-Zionism" (not ALL), is reshaped Anti-Semitism.

I suggest that all intifada supporting, communist, socialist, or otherwise dysfunctional homosexuals and moonbats move to Iran and continue their activities there.
I am sure they then will appreciate all of this "oppression" and "genocide." Of course, Hamas, Hezbollah and Al Qaeda all have the market cornered on appreciating genocide. They love them some Jews in gas chambers.

I'd also like to point out that when I state that "palestine" (ie Judea/Samaria, ie: the west bank) should be incorporated into Israel and all of those that do not wish to be loyal Israeli citizens removed, I get called a racist, and a genocidist.
When a leftist does the same but with Israel instead of "palestine", he/she is considered liberal, and a peace maker.

Read the caption in the report:
Their table had anti-Israel and pro-queer paraphernalia. Their self-described justification is to draw a connection between the (purported) oppression of gays in straight American culture and the (purported) oppression of Palestinians in Israeli culture -- and that gays in America should stand in solidarity with their fellow victims in Palestine. Conveniently ignored in their worldview is a little detail: that Palestinian Arab culture views homosexuality as an abomination, that homosexuality is a death-penalty crime in Palestine, and that many gays in the West Bank flee to Israel -- the hated, villainous Israel -- where they live in peace and security in the large gay community there. I'd like to see how well-received Queers for Palestine would be if they traveled to Gaza and set up the same table there.

GAZA.
Israel tried the "one state" solution in Gaza, and it was attacked daily by the Phakestinians. Then Israel tried the Palestine solution, and it has only gotten worse and is used as a Terrorist base.
If there is going to be One-State in the British Mandate, the only logical conclusion is that it should be Israel.

Good link.
There's a key thought in that article, that applies to a lot of other subjects that are approached in a 'relativistic' way lately:
In her Advocate interview Morcos recalls her response to a woman who said that Palestinians are “backward” when it comes to gay rights. Morcos replied, “What is backward? Backward to whom? Are we comparing the Middle East, the Arab community, to the Western world? This is not a fair comparison.”Why is the comparison not a fair one, she says? “Because you’re comparing our scale to your scale without really taking into consideration if we have our own scale.” This sort of culturally relativistic posturing—talk of “our own scale” in regards to basic human rights that all people deserve, regardless of where they live—is a tool used by individuals like Marcos to take advantage of the guilt complexes of Western liberals.

Zombie, that was excellent.
Reminded me of how the homosexuals in London tried to protest the Iraq war with the Muslims there.
The Muslims beat some of them up and threatened to kill them if they ever saw them again.
So.....the next year....
the homosexual groups tried to force Red Ken Livingstone to make the Muslims behave themselves.
But Red Ken choose sides differently and banned the homosexuals from any of the protests where Muslims would be ''offended'' by their presence.
Looks like SF isn't too far behind that sort of choice by the city.
I wonder which way leftist politicians in SF will lean?

The people that insisted on having it in Jerusalem knew exactly what they were doing. They were purposefully trying to cause trouble, and be offensive to the religious. They knew that if they had had the parade (which included not only homosexual activity, but all sorts of immodest clothes, behavior, etc.), in any other city but Jerusalem, noone would have really made a peep. BUT instead they insisted on having it Jerusalem!
Its as if you insisted on having a White Power(less) rally in Compton, then later complained that the residents of the city reacted negatively.

I have no sympathy for the Palestinians any longer. Time was, I thought that they too could move away from terrorism and unending war, but they repeatedly choose the path of violence, nihilism, and destruction. Under Arafat they chose war. Under Abbas they chose war. Under Hamas, they chose war. The pattern remains the same - when given a choice between peace and a two-state solution or war, the Palestinians choose war.
They want to destroy Israel and move in that direction with each passing day. They fire rockets at Israel with alarming regularity with the express intention of maiming and killing Israelis.
Today was one of the days when the luck ran out for some Israeli citizen - as they were murdered by a rocket slamming into them.
And I'm sure that candy will be passed around by Palestinian thugs to celebrate.
Israel's government is incapable of protecting its citizens - indeed, it appears to refuse that very task, instead seeking out to negotiate with these terrorists even as they refuse to recognize Israel's rights to exist.

I think I would pay money to see that.
I would to see if the KKK could even make it through Compton.
I made it through Compton (though I'm not KKK - I am white) the first time I ever drove in LA. I was looking for a way to get to Melrose, driving down W Century towards the I10. (I was staying close to the airport) Turned left on one big looking street, then left on another, and I got turned around a bit. "Better stop and ask for directions", I thought.
I saw a big church up ahead - with cars there! yay! church folks will help me! - and so I started to pull over. Until I saw all the people out front, in black clothing. Ah, a funeral, I thought. Then I saw a line of really, very big men standing about 10 feet apart, all with berets on, all with one hand inside their suit coats, all looking around with grim looks on their faces. Every person at the church was black.
Thought I'd drive around till I found it. I finally did. I saw on the news later that some big Bloods dude's funeral was held that day. In a church in Compton.
I am a reformed Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.

There are no Arab genocide in Israel...they number over a million and they bear more children than the Jews! They are more prosperous and have more individual rights than any other Arab nations!
There is only one practical solution to the Arab problem...
That they freely accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
I met an Arab pastor in Israel...he understood the Jewish experience and heart once he obeyed G-d and travelled to Auschwitz...he has a radio station broadcasting the Gospel in Arabic on the Internet...I went to visit this station !

If their argument is a Torah centered one (which I believe it is) then it is very different than the political/anti-semitic argument of the leftists/arabs/etc.
Now their (NK) teaming up and buddying up with Anti-Semites and those that would like to murder millions of Jews does put my 1st P into question.

Zombie, as usual, excellent reporting. Thank you for going to these things and bringing them back to us. I know my blood pressure would go through the roof if I were there. But I must do a little nit picking. Under the photographs of the "Queers For Palestine" table you write: "...that Palestinian Arab culture views homosexuality as an abomination, that homosexuality is a death-penalty crime in Palestine, and that many gays in the West Bank flee to Israel..." I've emphasized the word "Palestine" because in this paragraph you write as if this "country" actually existed and I don't think that this is what you meant to say. I know I'm probably being pedantic here but this kind of thing just tends to reinforce the lie.

If you haven't already, I suggest reading Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg. When you see the common origins of Naziism and modern leftism with its roots in Progressivism, it would seem antisemitism just follows the impulses that lead in those directions.
Jews are the quintessential outsiders, and the likeliest target of those who make false bids towards national unity (or else).
Pretty much everything in Nazism was lifted from Marxism-Leninism. One-party state, concentration camps, cult of personality, mass murder of political opponents, aggressive expansionism, etc.
The main difference is the racial, anti-Semitic foundation of Nazism. Anti-semitism was strong in Russia, to be sure, but was not specifically part of Marxism-Leninism.

One of the great aspects of coming to this site is to see postings that show the concern and respect of intelligent people for the state of Israel. You really are a great group.
Unfortunately writers like Hitchens view Israel from the limited lense of their own pessimistic, patriotism-free, and culturally left experience, without understanding Israelis or Israel. Israel at it's core is a patriotic, moral, and technologically advanced country that will survive the nay-sayers.
It is amusing in a way for the Brits not to see their own country's diminished state and great risk from its more virulent extreme muslim migrants, as anyone who has visited London-astan in the past several years might note.
Let the protestors enjoy their well-deserved "Nakba". Better them than us.

It never ceases to amaze me how many San Francisco Communists are Muslims who have made the Hajj to Mecca. Of course, being so culturally enlightened and self-righteous, they are surely aware of the significance of the kaffiyeh, and wouldn't be so ignorant as to wear it without having satisfied that particular pillar of the Islamic faith. When we first arrived on the scene to counter demonstrate, quite a number of young Jihadists, some communists and related jerks massed on the opposite side just to gawk. Thankfully the police were aware of our presence and we had our own personal sentry, keeping the more aggressive & angry anti-Israel folk away. Originally, we were going to be on the same side of the street but I think enough voiced concern for safety (especially with the AlAwda crowd) so across the street is where we ended up. It's noteworthy that Indybay.org has no pictures up of the event. Our mere presence really stuck a thorn in their side simply by offering a different perspective.

Instead of worrying about a state, this particular grup, should first check how their own kind are treated in Palestine. If I'm not mistaken the first ever 'Palestine pride parade' actually took place somewhere in Israel (Tel-Aviv?), and they're so despised even the main star (some female rap singer) made a point that she is at the parade just because it's a gig, and shouldn't be considered a show of support. I agree. It is truly bizarre and saddening. Under Hamas, those Palestinian queers would be put to the sword instantly. However, that's how far the hatred goes - into the realm of insanity.
On a positive note though, a Palestinian Christian stood with us for a while and reminded the more vocal folk to relax and not respond with rage. I was honored that he choose to stand with us.

Simple: Liberalism is a mental illness.
How do I know ? : I'm a Psychiatrist.
I almost hate to burst your bubble...but not really. A number of us who were on the Pro-Israel side identify as liberal, some even as leftist. Really. What bring us together is the staunch belief that Israel has a right to not only exist, but to do so free from terrorism with secure borders. Not all of us were on board with the "two nations for two peoples" thing either. However, since the message of the Jihadists was essentially "destroy Israel, wipe out the Jews, etc." the signs effectively countered that.

Oh, no reason to apologize to me. I know all to well that for many liberals, hating, nay, loathing Israel and her inhabitants is par for the course. This is one thing that constantly troubles me. I mean, liberals worldwide, if they truly value liberty and freedom, ought to support Israel, even if they do view Palestinians as being oppressed. They are being oppressed of course, BUT NOT BY ISRAEL. By Hamas, terror squads, suicide bombers, etc. I know I'm very much on the outside of liberals in the Bay Area. I'm out there holding an American or Israeli flag on Saturday mornings and I know that people walk by and see me as a right-winger without bothering to stop and ask why, Saturday morning after Saturday morning, I stand outside for 90 minutes to counter the Bay Area Women in Black's distorted message. My personal favorite is "nauseaus" when they mean to say "nauseated." If you are nauseaus, that means that you make other people nauseated. If you feel nausea, you are nauseated.
Please make a note of it.

You also forget that "Palestinians" are not an actual people, but an Islamo-Marxist invention of the mid-1960s.
You also forget that all people (as in: nations, races, ethnicities, tribes, etc.) are an invention insofar as they are all social constructs created by men and do not just pop out of nature like a biological species.
That having said, this whole rally looks like absolutely disgusting. Once you go down the path of modern day, "politically correct" antisemitism (antizionism) it's pretty obvious you throw overboard most ethic values the western civilization is built upon. Fuck identity politics, but even as an agnostic I'd rather identify with the ten commandments than the Hamas charter.

I wonder when these kind of slogans will sound like an actual political option. I wonder when the constant "palestinian right of return" will sound ridiculous to everyone listening - it should already, considering that 60 years have passed and now, three generations later, already more than 50% of palestinians have not even experienced the "nakba" they are celebrating (yes, celebrating, since it is the only ideological putty uniting them for the time being - if there ever was a one-state solution for palestinians, they would be at each other's throats forever, Hamas vs Fatah style).

A shared land as one state the way to peace

This month Israel marks the 60th anniversary of its founding. But amid the festivities, including visits by international celebrities and politicians, there is deep unease - Israel has skeletons in its closet and anxieties about an uncertain future which make many Israelis question whether the state will celebrate an 80th birthday.
Official Israel remains in complete denial that the birth it celebrates is inextricably linked with the near destruction of the vibrant Palestinian culture and society that had existed until then. It's not an unfamiliar dilemma for settler states. The United States where I live, like Australia, has found that even the passage of centuries cannot absolve a nation from confronting the crimes committed at its founding.
There are only two real options: to deny history and take comfort in an airbrushed story that paints Israelis as brave, divinely inspired pioneers in a desert devoid of indigenous people and beset by external enemies, or to own up to the consequences and support the enormous redress needed to bring justice and peace.
Just before Israel's founding, Palestinians of all religions made up two-thirds of the settled population of historic Palestine, while Jewish immigrants, recently arrived from Europe, made up most of the rest. Both of my parents, then children, were among the uprooted. Now living in Amman, my mother remembers a happy childhood in her native Jerusalem neighbourhood of Lifta. My grandfather owned several buildings and many of his tenants were Jews, including the family who rented the downstairs flat in their house.
Early in 1948 - before any Arab states' armies got involved - she and her entire family, indeed all the inhabitants of several neighbouring West Jerusalem areas, were forced out by Zionist militias.
On February 7 that year, Israel's founding prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, told his party, "From your entry into Jerusalem, through Lifta-Romema, through Mahane Yehuda, through King George Street and Mea Shearim - there are no strangers [Arabs]. One hundred per cent Jews." So Palestinians became "strangers" in the land of their birth.
Since that time millions of refugees and their descendants who lost their homes, farms, groves, livestock, factories, stores, tools, automobiles, bank accounts, artwork, insurance policies, furniture and every other possession have lived in exile, many in squalid refugee camps maintained by Israel and Arab states. Over 80 per cent of the Palestinians now besieged and starved in the Gaza Strip are refugees from towns now in Israel. But what Palestinians could never be forced to part with - and this we do celebrate - is our attachment to our homeland and the determination to see justice done.
Palestinians are commemorating the start of our ongoing tragedy this Thursday, but we are also looking forward. We are at an important turning point, where two things are happening. First, despite ritual declarations of international support, the prospect of a two-state solution has all but disappeared as Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip are caged into walled reservations by growing Israeli settlements and settler-only roads - a situation that resembles the bantustans of apartheid South Africa.
Second, despite Israel's efforts to keep Palestinians in check, the Palestinian population living under Israeli rule is about to exceed the 5 million Israeli Jews.
Israeli leaders understand what they are up against; the Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, said last November: "If the day comes when the two-state solution collapses, and we face a South African-style struggle for equal voting rights, then, as soon as that happens, the state of Israel is finished."
