On the bright side, and in fairness to the Dems, the poll directly beneath this (extremely offensive) article showed that the vast majority of readers categorically rejected what was said there. I also note that the comments section below the article was overflowing with indignant people demanding that the author be kicked off the DK. While I am in full agreement that this sort of pathology seems to be running rampant on the left side of the political divide, I am at least moderately encouraged to see that many of the folks on the other side seem to reject this sort of thing.

At this point, it will be worth watching to see what becomes of this.

No. There is absolutely nothing one can conclude from this so-called "poll." (do we require a Stats 101 refresher here?). You cannot generalize, you cannot draw any conclusions, etc., -- no conclusions, no generalizations, no statement about the readers/posters at KOS -- based on a non-scientific poll. It's not random sampling, it's self-select. Can't draw conclusions. Thus, no reason at all for any "optimism" -- can't conclude that. Because (due to the non-scientific nature of the poll) can't make claims about the readers or the posters. No one knows. (that's also one of the real problems with non-scientific "polling" it gives people an illusion of "knowledge" -- but in actuality it's not based on anything.) It'd be the equivalent of making conclusions based on Internet votes for Ron Paul.

Not up on the latest "global warming" news, are ya? Even the econuts are being forced to admit that the weather is shifting the other way, toward cooling for at least the next decade. Of course, they just shift the meme to "climate change" and still blame the US, capitalism, and CO2.

The real reason is simple: Look at this picture of the sun at [Link: www.spaceweather.com...] You will note something missing, namely no sunspots. There should be several. This is a repetition of solar conditions during the Dalton Minimum, which helped cause the "Year Without a Summer" in 1816. Part of the blame also goes to a major volcanic eruption that year that released a lot of SO2 into the air -- kind of like the big ongoing one in Chile right now. The way it works is no sunspots corresponds to a less intense magnetic field from the sun, which in turn corresponds to more cosmic rays reaching Earth from deep space, which then in turn results in more clouds. More clouds equals cooling because more solar energy is reflected off into space. SO2 also makes clouds more reflective, resulting in even more solar energy reflected off into space. It's a VERY scary combination.

The climate IS changing. That's what climates do. It's going to get a lot colder, perceptibly so. And frankly, humans have little to do with it and can't do a damn thing about it either.

PS CO2 absorbs all re-radiated IR radiation from the ground in the narrow wavelengths that it can absorb such radiation within the first 10 meters or so of atmosphere. What that means is CO2 could increase 1000%, and NO MORE WARMING would result. The whole AGW thing is a SCAM, pure and simple.

PPS I have a Masters in Science, with a heavy focus on physics. Don't work in the field and am no big expert, but some of the "science" I see from the AGW crowd is mindbogglingly inane and inaccurate. The science underlying the info. above is pretty cut and dried stuff, though. Well settled, corresponds well with observed data. NOT like the AGW crowd's computer models, which for some reason /sarc they have to adjust and update just about every year to make work.

Daily KOS is an influential Left-wing blog. Democratic candidates---people hoping to become president, and lead the country someday---have posted there. Markos Moulitas has been interviewed in the MSM, and has gained much atteniton with KOS. So, yes, like it or not, I think we do need to pay attention to this. We can ignore the Left, but the Left certainly isn't ignoring us (or national policy, which it hopes to influence.) I think it's a good idea to expose what's really going on over there.

The poll is self selecting. Those that didn't like it were more likely to vote on it. Or those that really loved it.

Compare it to the comment cards at a restaurant. People who are upset are more likely to fill out the card. The ratio of happy diners to unhappy diners in the general public does not match the ratio in the comment cards typically.

Anyway, if something occurs (say, some political scandal, etc), she'll surf the web and report back, along the lines of "what the blogs are saying." She frequently uses the KKKos site -- often prefacing her remarks with -- "And here's what they're saying over at The Daily Kos -- an influential liberal blog" (does she have a British accent? I believe she might).

If the Daily KOS doesn't endorse this stuff, why do they print so much of it? As I was saying earlier, I think this is KOS' way of sliding out of any responsibility. He can print all the garbage he likes, and then, when he gets called on it, he can claim that it's his moderators' fault, or the fault of his lack of moderators, and he's not really endorsing such views!)

It's poorly written, to boot. Like others here, I am glad to see that most of the commenters reject what the diary has to say. However, the fact that Kos is leaving it up, intact, stinks.

The end paragraph cracks me up:

I read all of the comments and while yes, they are pretty much all negative in regard to this diary, there are almost NONE that outright condemn this writer in no uncertain terms. There are no visceral reactions, only tepid "oh he's a bit over the top" type of responses.

More prevalent are the ones that attempt to blame 'trolls' for this posting in order to make the DKos look bad, as if their own are incapable of such outright anti-semitism and bigotry.

Where is the total outrage that SHOULD be accompanied by any post of this sort?

The Left is essentially against everything that is 'establishment'. Ultimately since 'establishment' also are the underwriters of 'authority' and 'morals' and 'beliefs', the Left then is against all those things insofar as they aren't outright unethical or anticivilisational (though even there, they do stretch the envelope).

The Left hyperbolically inflates Israel's missteps into the cassae belli that bring the members of The Movement together. There is blood libel - to insinuate its false tendrils into the minds of the easily swayed. Conspiracy theories abound, and have been honed into such a fine network of interlocking falsehoods and indirections that one actually CAN "believe" in the whole picture - so long as you drink the cool-aid.

The Left is of course most clearly anti-Right. The Right, being "for things" generally, and "against things" that are imprudent, potentially risky, possibly harmful, and definitely arbitrary or plain usurous in nature. Well, funny thing - our Left friends tend to be toward all things that are imprudent, potentially risky, possibly harmful ... and arbitrary ... just because the "right" Should exist to have these things.

Jewish sovereignty? Left is against it, because the Right, and mainstream religions are for it.

Its amazing how brazen the Left has become worldwide in simultaneously decrying Israel, denouncing it, and by induction impuning Jews as being The Problem. Oh, it isn't exactly Our Grandfather's version of antiSemitism, is it? But its the same.

I have a final thought: to anyone that says that the Jewish people, or Zionism, or Israel is 'going away' anytime soon ... I just have to remind that person: The Jews as a people, as a philosphy, as a religion, as a Diaspora, as a society and definitely as an economic force, have been on this planet for an amount of time exceeding all the rest of the major religions and philosophies combined. They're not 'going away', though they may have to shrink and defend their sovereignty ever further due to the demographic tsunami surrounding them.

We have so much more to attribute to the miniscule population of Jewish intellectuals, artists, merchants and entrepreneurs ... that I guess it just makes sense for the Left to be against them, and their tiny spit of land in the humungous Middle East: they are the paragon of what makes the REST of the world work, so therefore ...
