Oregon bio-hazard crew cleaning home full of feces

Marie Johnson, who owns the townhouse with her husband Mark, said the carpets and walls were caked with human and animal feces, but said that wasn't the worst part of the situation.

"I'm just disgusted that they were living in this with three small children," said Johnson.

and i heard on the radio today that the biggest bk. bear captured and tagged in new jersey (last wk) was 726 lbs. that's getting into the grizzly weight category. i'm more concerned abt. my dog getting injured tho than a personal attack, but bears do like to eat more than just grass and honey.

I know exactly what happened to my machine. Part of it involved the machine being powered off during the time the virus scan was scheduled to run, part of it was an unsecured wireless network, and part of it was leaving vulnerable Windows services running. After locking down Windows (I wish I could get the Mrs. Fish hooked on Linux, /sigh) and coaching her on why she should leave the machine powered on at night, I feel much safer.

96 xop1  Wed, May 14, 2008 1:14:17pm

Is it just me or is this the most vile thing the "insurgents" have done so far?
To strap a bomb onto an eight-year old girl? Makes me want to cry.

Iraqi insurgents use eight-year-old girl as suicide bomber

"An eight-year-old girl was strapped with remote-controlled explosives and used as a human bomb by Iraqi insurgents in a blast that killed an Iraqi commander earlier today.

An Iraqi captain was killed and seven other soldiers were injured in the explosion which took place in the town of Youssifiyah, south of Baghdad.
The explosives were detonated as the girl approached the Iraqi commander.
A curfew has now been imposed in the area, and American troops are said to be hunting for those responsible.
"I can confirm that a female suicide bomber attacked an Iraqi Army position," said a U.S Army spokesman.
Involving women in fighting violates religious taboos in Iraq, but extremists are recruiting females and youths to stage suicide attacks in a desperate attempt to beat tightened security measures.
Women can avoid thorough searches at checkpoints because of Islamic sensitivities, and four have carried out suicide bombings since November.
In February, Iraqi insurgents used two women with Downs Syndrome as human bombs in a blast that killed 99 people in Baghdad.
The women apparently fooled into wearing explosive vests which were then detonated remotely by mobile phones as they mingled with crowds.
It is unclear whether this latest blast used the same method for detonating the bomb. "

WHAT DO YOU FIND IN GRIZZLE BEAR POOP, BEAR BELLS AND THE ODOR OF PEPPER SPRAY.

The old joke is that the Ranger tells the tourist that to avoid Grizzlies you should wear bells and use pepper spray if one attacks. Make lots of noise if you see grizzly scat, he continues, but don't worry if you see brown bear scat.

"How do you know if its grizzly or brown bear scat?", asks the tourist.

"The grizzly bear scat will have small bells in it and smell like pepper," says the ranger.

Easily enough if it doesn't believe the teachings that it was supposedly founded on. In all the rantings I heard from the "Reverend" Wright, I don't think I heard him mention Jesus once. Certainly in the manifesto that they used to have on their web site about the "Black Values System", et al, there was no mention of Jesus. Kind of suspicious, a "Christian" Church that doesn't mention Christ when listing its core beliefs and principles, don't you think?

Thus, it is a testament to your social skills that you keep this site going with few deletions and expulsions. Without you, the site would descend into chaos. re: #130 Occasional Reader

I love Glick's writing, but she does get over-excited at times. I'm always one for looking at the facts on the ground before deciding what happened and who "won":

What happened:

1. The gov't outlawed Hezbollah's cellphone network & sacked the Beirut airport security chief (as he was a Hezbolah).
2. Hezbollah responded by attacking sections of Beirut
3. Rather than fight, the Lebanese Army backed off. Hezbollah was left shooting at civilians.
4. Hezbollah then attacked the Chouf Mountain district and got whipped badly by the Druze.
5. US is now rushing more arms to the Lebanese army.
6. Arab diplomatic delegation is in Beirut, backing the gov't and condemning Hezbollah, Syria & Iran.
7. Hezbollah's claim to be the defenders of Lebanon is now in tatters.
8. Former Christian & Druze allies of Hezbollah have switched sides & are now in the pro-gov't camp.

This is just the opening gambit, & more moves will follow in the next few days. But don't bet on Hezbollah coming out on top. And like I said, the Lebaese gov't has not capitulated to Hezbollah's demands. This is a replay of Mookie's Great Basra Victory of last month.

They sell - specifically - "bear spray", either at your favorite Great Outdoors type store, or over the Innernut.

Me, I'd try just using a boat horn before using bear spray. But keep the shotgun close by.

Air horns are very effective in my (VERY limited) experiences with brown bears (no grizzlies, polars, grolars, or pizzlies).

Check out the part I bolded below. Is this a new low for the MSM? I'm almost speechless. Almost...

JERUSALEM – Women screaming and children trying to escape a village on fire.

These are just two of the images that two Palestinian sisters, Fatima and Zeinab Jaber, 65 and 71, live with from an event they witnessed 60 years ago.

They are haunted, too, by the memory of their mother, Nuzah, who they recall crying as she rushed members of their family to safety.

And they are their last recollections of their home, the village of Deir Yassin, as it was being overrun and destroyed by armed Jewish militant groups.

I'm in no position to comment on what should or should not be the central tenants of Christianity, as I am not a Christian, but as a layman on this issue, yes it does seem a bit odd that Jesus is not mentioned.

It seems more like a political movement than a religion, like NOI uses Islam, Trinity/Black Liberation seems to use Christianity.

You may not feel that you're in a position to comment on it, but you've really hit the nail on the head.
It's funny that the West Virginians that think that Obama is a muslim are denigrated in the press, while the so-called "Intelligent college educated" voter that has no frickin' clue what goes on in that church, does not see the blend of islam and Christianity, does not see what that reverend studied, or what NOI and islamic peeps Wright holds up for esteem, are considered the wise ones.

Supergas (Superflatulence, technically).

By releasing the heated, expanding gas (it is mass), Superman is propelled by the resulting reaction force.

Hi Lizards.

I still read about 4-6 whole threads per day, d/l-ed (file-save as...html only) onto my memstick at the public library here in SW MI. I wish I could have access back at the apt, but oh well.

I am on p37 of Tom Kratman's book "Caliphate".

It would not be good for any involved parties if I were to meet a Muslim OR a moonbat this day. Kratman is quite the writer.

Things are going to get bad. I know the book is fiction, yes. I can also see from the perspectives of (imho) song-and-dance-man and, somewhat, of Babbazee. And many others here. Posts by those two are eagerly looked-for when I read threads. I hope, Charles, that you never ban them...I see a trend, and the trend doesn't look good.

With all that is going on regarding Israel, the enormously grand and deep and multi-layered deception that you can so obviously see, on many levels further than even most on the so-called anti-idiotarian side of things (not even Rush, from what I can hear, can really see quite as much of the "big picture" as you -- most assuredly not Hannity, nor Mark Levin...) With all that, and Israel especially, I hope and pray fervently that God's spirit will allow you to see even more. Some here do see, and I could see them being banned. I know you said the other day that you are not "purging" these elements... just sayin. And I'm not in the ID debate, I read those threads, most of them, and they just make me sad. Facts and science are real, and can be twisted and used by the enemy that some here call Stan. The Bible is true, and the same applies. Israel is not the center of all this for nothing.

I'm not proselytizing, am I? I'm not even a churchgoer. I am a heavily depressed individual who is now going back to my hole to resume my hermitude. This place IS my news source.

Storagemanager...keep it up please, besides Charles and the site's posts, you are my other news source. I wish I could contribute, but when I venture out of my apt, it's to get tobacco, food, and a few Mb of threadage. I'll dl this thread tomorrow to read any responses...love you all.
-Taq

ps. I don't and cannot follow youtube links. BABBAZEE! I know it would be less of an artform, your (possibly record-breaking number of) links to youtube, but I wish I could see what they lead to. I know, it would lessen the impact and surprise. Nah, do what you do. I should appeal to youtube (LOquietly!) and get them to use a better link style than "video397gcv37dfv27". I swear there are more links to youtube from LGF threads than, hmm, anywhere on earth. Charles should get kickbacks. (and throw a few bucks to BZ)

A Pyrrhic Defeat

For Hizballah, the prospect of exiting this most severe of crises with anything resembling a positive [let alone a victory], seems dauntingly distant. As the dust settles, Lebanon’s besieged (literally!) government remains in place, its fortitude continuously reinforced by the common disgust felt across the nation at the fact that the Iranian-backed group turned its weapons on the capital and the mountain...

...Indeed, many in Lebanon today believe that the pattern of violence in the country over the past three summers is part of a continuation of the Syrian strategy to incite violence and open an internationally-sanctioned path allowing a return of Syrian domination to the country – undoubtedly to restore order to the chaos started by Syria’s local co-conspirators.

Now a week into the assault, occupation, and [partial, if not superficial] delivery of its capital city back to those who should have guarded it in the first place, Lebanon is slowly reawakening to the damage inflicted on it and its institutions by an ordeal who’s end seems nowhere in sight. What remains clear, for now, however, is that Hizballah and its masters have suffered a critical defeat.

How silly. An intelligently designed pineapple would not require that fancy gadget to smoosh it into a pile of delicious rings.

Pineapples must have evolved due to environmental pressures. Naturally, we are looking for the intermediate species. Since they were soft-bodied (except for the dull-witted but heavily armored Pineapplesaurus Tex), the fossil records are of course rather spotty.

Occasional, give her a break, por favor! Hillary's tears could be of RELIEF! The whole global democrat apparatus has turned on her & turned her world upside down.

After a lifetime of service to democrats, Hillary has kept a stiff upper lip while all manner of derrogatory snide comments have been thrown at her by the supposed party of the little people, the sensitive people, the kind-hearted caring cradle-to-grave Nanny state folks.

Once again, Hillary has been dumped by those who professed love.

West Virginia showed her some loyalty and kindness, which you need when all your so-called friends abandon you. I'd cry too.

In Espanya, we have statues to the Virgen Llorona, the crying Virgin. So it's ok iconography, to show her suffering for love of us.

It's gone 10pm over here and I really shouldn't have fully read that article in the israelnationalnews.com.
I'm really not sure what to say about the Palestinians anymore.
I don't understand how someone can contain that much hatred inside themselves without going into meltdown. I don't know if it's my imagination but I think that this year has seen the Pals hatred increase at an accelerated rate - perhaps it's just me.
Their vitriol directed at America/Americans seems so OTT that it comes across as being hysterical (I'm not sure exactly how to describe it) but this is the sort of thing that they are indoctrinating their children with.
If they are going to whip themselves into such a frenzy of hatred, where will it stop, or will they reach a tipping point where they will be so consumed by it that they will not be able to function properly at all?
I don't think the big white rabbit is helping either....
It would seem Ahmed Bahar wants me dead (*Allah, take hold of the Americans and their allies...Allah, count them and kill them to the last one and don't leave even one* - apologies for quoting this kind of thing..) as I'm British. Let him delude himself I say, I'll stick with the Americans.

..I honestly read the coming "trend" Taqiyyotomist was referring to as the spread of the Islamist jihad. His writing style was loose and ungrammatical, so there is an opportunity for misinterpretation..

I don't know. Seems clear to me.

I can also see from the perspectives of (imho) song-and-dance-man and, somewhat, of Babbazee. And many others here. Posts by those two are eagerly looked-for when I read threads. I hope, Charles, that you never ban them...I see a trend, and the trend doesn't look good.

..With all that, and Israel especially, I hope and pray fervently that God's spirit will allow you to see even more. Some here do see, and I could see them being banned...

America makes some very good varietals and hybrids, even outside of California. Give the times and the Euro run-up, perhaps it is time to really, really support our own, booze-wise. Euros wouldn't be caught dead drinking California wines with their local cuisines.

I have also considered this with American car makers, whom I have considered arrogant dysfunctionals for years. Time to get back to making this nation something special, instead of bemoaning its decline.

OK, hard news update: Lebanese gov't is backing down:

Government officially revokes decisions

The Lebanese government on Wednesday night announced it would revoke the two decisions that sparked the worst sectarian violence to harass Lebanon since the civil war between 1975 and 1990.

On Tuesday, May 6, the cabinet announced it would open a probe into a private Hezbollah network and would reassign head of airport security Brigadier General Wafiq Chouqair based on allegations of his tie to Hezbollah.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah had previously said he regarded the moves as a declaration of war and the ensuing sectarian fighting between rival supporters left at least 65 people dead and 200 wounded, according to AFP.

Around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, Information Minister Ghazi Aridi said the government would back down on the decisions in accordance with an Army Command’s statement, which stated that the military would take control of the probe and would question Chouqair but not reassign him.

“There is no winner in what happened, but there is a loser and that is Lebanon,” Aridi stated.

re: #127 Charles

Please don't be too upset. You are dealing with a very large and varied group of anonymous people. You have a very difficult job and in my opinion you do a great job. The fact that you choose to come on here regularly to explain your actions speaks volumes about your sense of fairness and your sensitivity. And the flack you occasionally get is actually a testament to the extremely wide commenting latitude that people at LGF enjoy and take for granted. Unfortunately some people take deletions as personal insults, instead of treating them as necessary decisions required to safeguard the integrity of the site.

I will however venture to say one thing by way of what I hope is constructive criticism: I was always taught that it was never a good idea to discuss religion or politics with casual friends, guests or business associates. I have also learned that such discussions, taken too far and to their logical conclusions, are easily capable of straining and ultimately destroying these valuable relationships.
What I have seen in my 6 months at LGF is an increasingly frequent number of religious discussions WHICH HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FIGHT AGAINST ISLAMOFASCISM. These discussions have often become heated, sometimes to the point of nastiness and personal ad hominem attacks. I have participated in some of these threads myself, and while I often find them intellectually stimulating and educational, I have noticed that there are some who are regularly offended or hurt by the discussions.
In my opinion, it might be easier to keep this wonderful multi-faith/non-faith coalition together and to keep our eyes on the ball if perhaps we spent less time on irrelevant religious discussions - or maybe not.

Claims that the "Web means something entirely different to teens. It exists to enable what most every 16-year-old wants to do: talk to, act like, think like, compete against, gossip about, and play with peers".

The Kids are Idiots

"So caught up in social life, young Americans are aging, but not maturing. They are more adept with tools but less aware of moral meanings and historical backgrounds"

re: #184 Taqiyyotomist

To me this commenter is someone excited about LGF and has over personalized it a little too much. People can get attached to emoticons at times. And then he expressed banning fears. Probably not in a malicious way like a few trolls but in a not secure way. And he addresses them personally and was inaccurate in that assumption. And as in most threads here he stands to be corrected.

I think most anonymous posters can struggle with being appropriate at times. It's hard to separate out the personal from issues that drive points close to home. It seems to me that the moderators usually let a few slide unless it's something really obscene. Banning comes from a refusal to adhere to the rules.

And if a comment gets deleted the commenter can always restate the post in more polite terms. That has been done before also.

I was edited out of a different forum the other day for saying "asshole" The moderator choose a less perjorative term. It didn't feel the same though.

I was also in a minimalist forum where your IP address was banned if you just posted an " I agree" post and didn't add anything to the discussion. That was a riot. It was a Euro forum. I can't see that going over big in a US centered discussion.

Lance Kates was abusive to other posters, and the cause of a constant series of complaints. I was more than patient with him.

Pro-Bush Canuck posted a series of insults to me personally, denigrating my intelligence ("middle brow" was one of the insults). Maybe you think I should just accept personal insults and bad behavior, but in my own house I do not have to accept this kind of treatment, and I won't.

No Charles, I don't think you should have to accept that kind of abuse. I was online when PBC got banned. It was painful to read his last few posts. I've met him personally & he's a great guy. He was going through some serious personal issues & he took it out on those around him, including you & his girlfriend. I wish he had just taken a walk and cooled off, but he didn't. And Lance too is a great guy, but he was getting disruptive and rather stuck on a particular issue.

So no, I don't disagree with your decision, nor with your prerogative to call it as you see it. However, if it were my blog, which it isn't, I would have given them time-outs instead of outright bannings.

Question, Charles: was replying to Droplet out of line? I don't recall being any rougher on him than on anyone else--and I assumed that the post of mine which vanished into the void was disappeared because it quoted him.

Yes, it's because you quoted his comment. The policy has always been to delete comments that quote offensive comments, because what's the point of deleting anything otherwise?

I could see this having some positive effects from a social/community standpoint and I also think it will increase comments but also increase the number of intelligent comments quite possibly.

I think you'll find most Logged-In folks have multiple threads open simultaneously. And you may assume if they are logged-in they are reading the thread you are reading.

It's a good idea - I've been considering something similar. Tricky to code, though. I do have a script that shows who is online, but it doesn't tell which thread they're reading. People could have more than one window open, and be in more than one thread at once.

That's the way I do it I'll keep the "active" threads all open.

Quite right. I have this thread open as well as the Lebanese thread. I have noticed Lizards posting on both threads.

Just knowing who's online might be cool. But.. there's is a privacy issue. ..for the logged in, not posting.

334 yochanan  Wed, May 14, 2008 3:57:02pm

that would be great esp if you could send a I.M. to them like you can via the lizard lounge.

re: #330 Charles

I agree, As I do that quite often.

Another feature might be the ability to sort or filter posts by username. ( I confess, my morbid curiousity caused me to go look at the other post ((The post of DOOM!)) and I had to scroll forever to satisfy my bloodlust...)

336 sojerofgod  Wed, May 14, 2008 3:58:22pm

Er, Make that 'Thread' and THREAD OF DOOM!

I can see the IM function being maybe abused.

re: #330 Charles

Yeah, it would require some out of the box thinking on how to get it done the best. You could link to a single page maybe that just lists out the logged in users and what threads they are in. A lot of forum/board software out there has this feature.

I have seen more sophisticated programs though that can actually list it out on a per thread level though, which would be ideal since LGF is structured so nice and well, structured.

Charles, I think of my ability to post here is like having a driver's license. They are both privileges not entitlements. If you screw up, don't be surprised when your privilege is revoked. If you come to my house and pee on the carpet, don't be surprised when I tell you to never visit my house again. Just say'in.

340 AMER1CAN  Wed, May 14, 2008 4:10:29pm

If I enter thread "A" while logged in, thread "A" could see if i have a cookie, if I do, then read my username and store in a ThreadArray[] and output to "Who's reading with you".

I know, thats over-simplified, but that's the idea anyways. I'm just thinking out loud here....

Sometimes I approximate that by clicking a user's football (or what have you) and then on the "Show comments within last 7 days" feature. There are two minor adjustments I would like to see to make that more user friendly, especially for those of us with really old computers. One is to make the range of days shorter. Sometimes seven days' worth is just too much. The other adjustment would be that when I am looking at that list of comments, and I want to read the whole comment, it would help if clicking on it would show just the comment, and not load the thread. Some threads are just too big. Then from there one could load the whole thread if they wanted to. [I am getting a newer 'puter soon, but I know I'm not the only underpowered lizard out here.]

re: #344 wrenchwench

Of course, when I say "minor adjustment," I don't know what I'm talking about. For all I know, it's the equivalent of overhauling a suspension fork (my least favorite task.)

I think you are better at that than I am with the suspension forks!

Thank you! Off for a test drive...

Charles,

I received an e-mail from one of my former students, a second-tier secretary at the Saudi mission to the U.N. that must have come to me as some sort of spam or something, as it was sent to him by some 'professor' over in the Magic Kingdom®. This e-mail was only a cartoon, a vile, blatant distortion of the truth. In the cartoon [looks like it was drawn by a EUnich] a tow-headed Jewish boy with a pistol in his pocket and an Israeli flag draped around his shoulders is saying to the shoeless, bedraggled Pali-boy: "My father told me that you Arabs are evil terrorist animals".
The Pali replies: "My father told me nothing ... he was murdered by yours."

I have had many conversations with this man, and he seems to me to be of a different cut. I wonder who would send this to him, and if I have been consorting with the enemy. How can I send this to you -- would like to know if this is something to display to other lizards and to other people who visit this site.

I've enabled my e-mail to be shown.

I've restored Babba Zees post #207 in last night's open thread, because I see that Q-Burn is continuing to insist that I was lying when I said she quoted the offensive post by 'Droplet'.

Here's her post:

[Link: littlegreenfootballs.com...]

This stupid controversy has really been a drag, and there are some long-time posters who should be ashamed.

re: #349 Charles

Thank you for restoring BabbaZee's comment. I never imagined she would write something herself that was delete-worthy. Droplet's post was indeed disgusting and offensive. In her own words, Babba's reaction was full of the sort righteous indignation we love about her.

The lesson for all lizards from this is to see the kind of trouble people like Droplet stir up (intentionally, I believe). There are trolls, mobies and others (paulians, DUmmies & etc) who would like nothing better than to see LGF roiled in flame wars. I appreciate it is a difficult line you have to walk, Charles, keeping an open debate running while curtailing abuses.

Semper fi, Stinky.

I've been trying to catch up after several weeks of zero spare time, and I've just got to say: Can't we all think before we post?

Failure to think before posting? bad idea
Failure to think five times before posting when people are upset? bad idea

Wild accusations? bad idea
Unqualified expressions of liking for someone who appears to be trying to get banned? bad idea
Non sequitor queries into the grand lizard's health while he is objecting to weird and unfounded accusations (thereby tending to imply that he is being irrationally touchy for some unrelated reason)? bad idea

Is it really that difficult to treat people with consideration and respect? Is it really that hard to avoid taking a dump in your host's living room?

I mean, we're grown-ups here. Aren't we?

/ducks and runs from the avalanche of "who do you think you are" replies
//have to get back to work anyway, dang it

Q-Burn is now at BabbaZee's blog, insinuating that I edited BZ's post to add that quote.

So someone who was allowed to post anything he wanted at LGF, for years, is now accusing me of lying, and editing posts to cover it up.

Why would I do this? Who knows. I guess I'm just evil.
