Obama: I Will Engage in Direct Talks with Iran

Fri, May 16, 2008 at 11:21:15 am PDT

Barack Obama just reiterated that he will personally engage in “direct talks” with Iran, a state sponsor of terrorism, as he complained bitterly about President Bush’s speech in Israel.

Obama and the Democrats are making a big mistake with this whining, crybaby approach; I hope he continues down this road.

69 Tigger2005  5/16/08 11:34:20 am reply quote

Why, Charles?

I used to believe that as a whole, my fellow countrymen were far too intelligent to elect someone like Obama.

I have a great deal less faith in America's people today to do the right thing.

There are still plenty of good people, but they are being slowly overwhelmed by people with a third world mentality, a dependence on big government, an inability to think logically.

And the good people are paralyzed, unable to act effectively. They elect leaders who they think will act in their interests and those leaders betray them.

I don't even know how to begin turning it around. I don't know how to begin changing people's minds when their entire worldview, their entire perception of history, America, EVERYTHING, is so different from mine, when it rests on completely different foundations.

I know, and even like, many people who seem like Americans. They look like Americans, they act like Americans. But when you dig a little deeper, they are nothing at all like Americans.

That bit on BHO's website about talking to Iran about that country's "troubling behavior" is a devastating insult to the memory of the 280-plus Marines slaughtered in Beirut in 1983 by an Iranian-supplied truck bomb. Not to mention Khobar Towers in 1996--the evidence there points to local Shi'a Muslims directed by Iran too.

i get a tingle in my brain when obamaman talks, the tingle of the start of a migraine.

I keep waiting to hear a wet popping sound because of the stroke I predict I'll get on reading the news

I normally respect Camille Paglia (even though I disagree with about half of what she writes), but she said something in a recent essay about Obama showing " real Presidential temprament". I've decided to forgive her since the piece was undoubtedly written at least a week ago. From where I sit now, he looks like a whiny little bitch.

It's very unbecoming for the 13th Imam to whine like that.

... how Obama sat in Wright's church for 20 years and managed never to hear anything, but hears 20 seconds of a Bush speech that doesn't mention him and perceives a shameful personal attack?

Generally, I don't think Obambi's claims that he's going to talk to every dictator in the world bothers the Left at all. I sincerely believe that they think he's the Messiah, and are certain that if Obambi talks to every thug who wants to literally and contextually behead Americans, a miracle will happen, and all the evil in the world will magically disappear, and the world will suddenly be awash with harmless kumbaya nations that only want to hold hand with the world and sing the old coke theme song.

All he has to do to win is be smarter than 51% of the electorate--or at least, appear smart to them.

That is not so difficult when you have a large population of youngsters who know absolutely no history prior to when they were in eighth grade and do not know how to think, let alone engage in critical evaluation.

And that, my friends, is a very grim prospect.

It is indeed - it gave us 11 years of Nulabour in Great Britain, with the results you all know (the response to 9/11 and the Iraq ad Afghanistan War excepted, and even there - how that lot
