My studies in speculative philosophy, metaphysics, and science are all summed up in the image of a mouse called man running in and out of every hole in the cosmos hunting for the Absolute Cheese.

I'm sure this will be making the rounds:

Sen. Ted Kennedy, the last of three brothers who changed the American political scene in the 1960s, suffered a seizure while at the Kennedy family compound this weekend in Hyannisport, Mass., a spokeswoman for the senator said.

...so let me say that I wish Senator Kennedy well. Perhaps he should take this as a cue to excuse himself from the rigors of life in the United States Senate. I hope for his speedy recovery and long life, in a nice peaceful retirement out of the United States Senate.
His departure from the Senate now would be timely, a good idea, and actually can't happen soon enough.
But let us all extend our best wishes to Senator Kennedy in what we hope will be a lengthy and prosperous life as a private citizen... soon.

Whoo-Hoo! open thread!

This woman walks into local welfare office with her 15 kids. The social worker says if you are here to sign up..I'll need the names of all your kids.
The woman says all the boys are named Leroy and the girls are named Leighroy. Social worker says Why the same name?
The woman says it just makes everything much easier.. when I call them to eat , I only have to yell Leroy.., and when it time for bed or school , I just have to yell Leroy and they all come.
Social worker says that works for all, but what if you just want one of your kids to come ?
The woman says Then I just call them by their last names.

In my fridge, there is a drawer containing many kinds of cheese. There is one particular brand of cheese that, whenever I reach for it, my Labrador comes running into the kitchen. She can be sound asleep, but seems to somehow know I'm reaching for that particular package.

It is uncanny, almost creepy the way she just knows..... could I have stumbled on the absolute cheese and don't even know it?

Congrats Rawmuse, wish you many productive and happy and safe years on the force.

I had to laugh that the UN is coming to judge the US on issues of fake discrimination allegedly perpetrated against the Obamanation (will they investigate the ageism and sexism that have been foisted by the Obamanation's minions against McCain and Hillary?) When the UN gets the perpetrators of antisemitic propaganda (paid for by its own monies) to stop printing the garbage, then we might take the UN, a hairs' breadth more seriously than a butt monkey. If I were Mayor Bloomberg (who unfortunately appears to be 90 percent up the arse of the UN) I would not give the rapporteur (UN for psychopathological liar) the time of day, or provide him with any police protection or other civil amenities. Oh to have Rudy at the helm, who would have escorted this creep out of the City, tout de suite, without a second thought.

57 Bill Amos  Sat, May 17, 2008 2:06:25pm

I had a insight a few days ago as to why obama's "Diplomatic veiw" is so dangerous to the United States.

Its because its based on a misguided notion put forward by some like Ron Paul and others that its US military intervention that is causing Islamic Anger.

The left likes to argue that Islam would not hate the US if we would just simply stop attacking them and leave them alone. That poverty is what is the root cause of terrorism and that we can simply end it by ending poverty.

But take a closer look at the Jihadists and none of that stands the test of facts. For one Osama and thier ilk are not poor but from wealthy or upper class homes.

Further more Osama was upset at the US for having troops in Saudi Arabia. Yet these troops were on remote bases and not occupying Saudi Arabia. So why the anger ?

The truth is easier to understand but is missed by the left. The islamics dont hate the west for its military but for it counter culture to their belief systems.

Islam has strick rigid codes of conduct. Everything in the west runs counter to those code. Islam isnt threaten by the US's military its threated by the entire western way of life which competes with Islam.

So the Islamics try to keep the west out. But the internet and TV and all the interconnections between countries makes that near impossible to prevent. Thus the Islamics feel threated not so much Western Militarys as by western Ideals. Hence the great effort to limit young muslims to western exposure.

But the true final danger is that they can not fully limit it. They themselves use the Internet and cell Phones for Jihad. The very instriments that give them exposure to the west they themselves need to keep their beliefs spreading.

So that is they ultimate danger. The Islamics cannot allow a competing belief system survive because ultimately it means their own way is threatened beyond their control. And why ultimately they need to attack the west to prevent the "Rot" they see as threatening them. So in the ultimately final veiw diplomacy and talk can not work because that doesnt end the threat as the Islamics themselves see it.

Six retired Floridians were playing poker in the condo clubhouse when Fred loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest and drops dead at the table.
Showing respect...the other five continue playing standing up. Carl looks around and asks, "So, who is going to tell Fred's wife?"
They cut cards and Walter has the 2 of clubs and has to carry the news. The guys tell Walter to be descreet.
Walter says, "My middle name is descreet..I can handle it"
Walter goes to Fred's Apartment and knocks on the door. Fred's wife answers through the door and asks what he wants.
Walter declares: "Your husband just lost $500 in a poker game and he is afraid to come home."
"Tell him to drop dead!" yells the wife. "I'll go tell him." replys Walter.

I'm partial to a nice Danish Havarti myself.

I just love Provolone Cheese in sandwhiches...

For salads, Israeli Feta Cheese is superb!

For eating cheese...I like Spanish Manchego cheese that is aged well...

re: #57 Bill Amos

Nice summary of the basic problem!

War usually happens when one side or the other feels that their enemies are moral corrupt and weak and therefore easy prey.

This happened in WWI when the Central Powers felt that France and Russia were too weak to stand against them. And Again in WWII the the Nazis saw how weakly the west stood up to Hitler.

Now this is the same veiw held by the Islamics. They did attack after attack against American in the 1990s starting with the 1993 WTC attack and through the cole and Embassy attacks in Kenya.

Osama convinced them that America was weak and corrupt and ripe to attack on a grandscale.

Now we again seem weak. IF we withdraw from Iraq that confirms to the Islamics that we are "Weak" and corrupt and that their way of life is superior to our won.

As long as Islamics feel we are weak they will attack to seek a find end to the "Threat" we pose to them.

I don't know how dogs do that, but the sure can just eat whatever they want and never swallow the parts they don't like. My dog is famous for spitting out any pills we try to hide in cheese. My vet finally told me that the one thing they can't extract the pill from is - peanut butter. Works like a charm.

Peanut butter in a Kong keeps the active ones busy for a loooong time.

/My lab could care less what pills we give her, as long as they're in a piece of chickendog. Guess we got lucky!?

I will never forget one night sleeping and dreaming all the good stuff, when I was woken by what seemed to be an atomic explosion, followed by the worst stench ever invented. I looked up and the covers were on the ceiling, and my other half just kept on snoring, she would always deny what happened and said it was probably me.

I had a 120 pound , male Golden Retriever. He was a savage & would eat almost anything with the exception of pickles.
I gave him a cheese burger. The dog takes it whole & woofs it down.
He finishes & spits out the pickle.Fascinating!

I had a red domerman that could do the exact thing. I would bet my friends that "Zack" could eat a whole Mcdonalds cheeseburger and spit out the pickle without even a tooth mark on it.....and he could do everytime.

Ask your vet.

I've been giving garlic (raw and cooked) to my dogs for years (helps to keep fleas away, and people who don't like garlic breath!) LOL

I used to let them drink beer, but between me and dogs, it was costing to much. The dogs could down a can in a gulp.

That's way too complicated, isn't it? Just put the pill in the back of the mouth and close the mouth for a moment. My dog swallows the pill after one second.

I assume many lizards have dogs?
