I'm proud to say that UC Santa Barbara doesn't have this bad of anti-Israel protesting. It's starting to get a bit intense since it's "Palestinian Awareness Week." They did all this graffiti in chalk on some of the sidewalks with things like "Stop the Ethnic Cleansing!", "Israel = Apartheid State", or my favorite was "Know Where Your Tax Dollars Go!"

30.30 Speech and Advocacy

The University has a special obligation to protect free inquiry and free expression. On University grounds open to the public generally, all persons may exercise the constitutionally protected rights of free expression, speech, and assembly. A. Time, Place, and Manner Regulations

B. Areas for Public Gatherings

Amplification may be used only at specified times and is prohibited at all other times and places. Guidelines for amplification and hours of use are available from the UCI Scheduling Center, or the appropriate scheduling office.

D. Non-University Speakers

Non-University persons are permitted to speak in areas of the campus open to the public without invitation; however, because such areas are limited, a reservation is advised through the UCI Scheduling Center or appropriate scheduling office is suggested.

Except as provided in Section 40.40 and subject to Section 30.00, non-University persons may address meetings in all other areas only by invitation from a registered campus organization, ASUCI, AGS, AMS, University departments, recognized academic and administrative units, and official University of California alumni organizations. 30.40 These Policies and campus regulations in no way constitute prohibitions on the right to express political views by an individual in the University community. I went to the Israel 60th Independece Day festival here in LA yesterday, and the contrast to the "Nakba" festival in SF was uncomparable. Even though Israel was attacked by 5 Arab countries in a sick genocidal war of extermination against Jews, I didn't see a single anti-Muslim, or even anti-Jihad sign or booth there. However, "Peace now," along with 2 other dillusional peace groups had booths there! The skydivers at the festival proudly flew the Israeli, US, and the POW/MIA flag in solidarity with our troops. What a stunning contrast to the pro-Palestinian protests and festivals.

I was suprised to see a [Link: www.honestreporting.com...] booth there. It was about time there was a booth about media bias there.

It never ceases to amaze me that muslim women run around wanting freedom for their sister muslims when upon their heads, they wear the symbol of oppression.

Irvine has changed significantly in the last 15 years, like so much of Southern California. If you build a really nice community, lost of people want to move in. Some to share it, others to destroy it.
Well, Jesse Unruh said he was going to turn Orange County liberal by building the University there, and many of the administration and staff feel that is what they are supposed to do, change a conservative county into a liberal one, complete with the racism, bigotry and hatred that is so prevalent in liberal bastions. I work at UCI and in one meeting a professor objected to the phrase "conservative estimate" when used to characterize financial data. The poor Iranian immigrant making the presentation, a highly qualified engineer, looked at me with that, "What did I say wrong?" expression.
When I attended Cal State Fullerton in the 1970's the most vocal group on campus were the Evangelical Christians and they never chanted for anyone's destruction. Everyone else on campus pretty much just went to school.

Ah, now there's a familiar chant. It's a favorite one of the anti-Zionist/Israel thugs we so often encounter at rallies. It's a shame there isn't a better organized group that could stand against these bullies on campus. Their hatred has to be countered with reason and sanity. Where are the campus Republicans? Where are the pro-Zionist Jews? They need to get together, put political differences aside and stand with one another against the Islamists in their midst.
