Daily Kos: The New Improved Southern Strategy

Mon, May 19, 2008 at 11:25:14 am PDT

As Barack Obama bashes the Tennessee GOP as “low class” for criticizing his wife, the Daily Kos Kidz show Tennessee what “class” really means.

Daily Kos: The NEW IMPROVED Southern Strategy.

So you can appreciate all the details in this Photoshop masterpiece, here’s the full sized image:

UPDATE at 5/19/08 11:40:51 am:

On a related topic, one of the most sickening antisemitic diaries we’ve ever discovered at Daily Kos remains posted at the site a week later.

Yes, because only republicans are racist.

9 Killgore Trout  Mon, May 19, 2008 11:28:15am
In Tennessee they've laid into Ms. O with vicious smears reminiscent of tactics used before the 2000 presidential election, when essentially the same clan spread leaflets and push-polled a half-truth that John McCain fathered a black baby.

Psst! Michelle Obama has had twice as many black babies!

They're going to claim racism everytime the lose a primary or election. This is going to be predictable.

10 Sizzlack  Mon, May 19, 2008 11:28:19am

They want their own to be weary of 'Fear Mongering'. At what point will they realize they are the ones behind it?

11 zombie  Mon, May 19, 2008 11:28:31am

Wow, they've already hit the bottom of the barrel and he hasn't even gotten the nomination yet.

They're not going to simply place the race card -- they're going to play the entire race deck.

22 Kosh's Shadow  Mon, May 19, 2008 11:31:11am

A couple of threads ago, I said the message we're getting is that not voting for Obama is racism; don't support him and you might as well join the Klan.

And then the Kos proves that it is exactly what they're thinking.
(Of course, the Klan also wants to kill me, as I'm Jewish, but the Kosdids don't care.)

As a proud Tennessee republican, I must say that I congratulate DKos for this, because they have effectively shown themselves as in a way lower class bracket than our GOP was accused of being.

I have tobacco-chewing relatives with washing machines and tires on the front porch and old rusty cars in their weed-filled front yard, yet I'd much rather have them over for supper than any of these pansy, arugula-munching hate-mongering immoral bigots.

So...this pulp fiction art is supposed to represent the Republican POV? And this maroon is trying to say that the Republicans are trying to burn the middle class and 'brand' Michelle Obama as a uppity liberal? Is that what this is supposed to mean?

If yes, this is somewhat problematic. I like to think that people are bright enough to realize that the KKK is not the same as the Republican party, and that if anyone has branded Michelle Obama as an uppity liberal, it is Michelle Obama herself, through her words and actions. Also.... I'm pretty sure that the good citizens of the South are not going to appreciate the subtle (or not so subtle) message of 'if you don't vote for Obambi, you're no better than the KKK.'

Last time I checked, insulting people didn't win votes.

She's may not be running for president, but she holds the ear of the one who is. And if history or anything else can be an indicator, the wife generally holds sway with the husband. And if she's making the kind of statements she has, she deserves to be called on it.

Mark Steyn at NRO's The Corner on Obama's latest:

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

"That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added.

If the Obamas are as invested in "Change" as much as they claim, they must denounce something like this in the strongest of terms. If the reprehensible actions of the KKK are as abhorrent to them as they would surely claim, this image, even to mock a political opponent, would sicken them to the core.

I hope someone brings this to their attention in a public way to force a denunciation. Not holding my breath, though.

That's a reprehensible image, of course, and it bespeaks a distressing leftwing effort to put the drastically flawed Obama & wife above all criticism by generically labeling criticism as "racist."

No one can call her condescension toward ordinary Americans what it is. For the lefties, it's all "racist."

Watching the Obamaniacs in action I have visions of the pod people from Invasion of the Body Snatchers, charging and pointing at Obama's critics and shrieking mindlessly.

The optimistic part of me still believes that the "everything's racism" tack will not be a sustainable or winning strategy for the lefties in the end, as the more the label is brandished, the less it means. Thinking voters should be able (God, I hope they will be able) to see through it.

No coincidence.

Again, one of the tenets of Reverend Jeremiah Wright's Afrocentric church was the disavowal of "middle class ness".

Remember, the church that Obama and his wife sat in weekly for 20

Race Against History, The New Republic, May 31, 2004

Shortly before leaving Chicago for Harvard, he had a meeting with the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the charismatic black pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, one of the most socioeconomically diverse all-black congregations in Chicago. Obama was taken with Wright's worldview, perhaps best encapsulated by a Trinity brochure proclaiming that, "while it is permissible to chase `middleincomeness' with all our might," ambitious African Americans must beware the "psychological entrapment of black `middleclassness' that hypnotizes the successful brother or sister into believing they are better than the rest of US."

Unlovely sentiments from Senator Byrd:

Byrd commented on the 1945 controversy about racially integrating the military. Byrd, when he was 28 years old, wrote to segregationist Senator Theodore Bilbo, of Mississippi, vowing never to serve in such a military:

Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.[5]

He had earlier written "I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side".[6][7]

220 Charles  Mon, May 19, 2008 12:12:03pm

A note on a related topic: if you think I've been a bit of a hard-ass lately about deleting offensive comments and blocking accounts, my ass isn't going to be getting any softer soon.

Any comments with derogatory slurs or hinting about doing violence--even in a joke--are going to be seized on and used against LGF. There are some lovely individuals (Media Matters) who would like nothing more than to get revenge on us for exposing this stuff, and I'm not going to let them if I can help it. And with media's overwhelmingly leftist slant, if they seize on an issue like this it could really be damaging.

So think before posting, ESPECIALLY if you're pissed off. It will keep the level of discussion higher, and I won't have to use the banning stick.

Waffle flipper:

Obama said he fully realizes the danger posed by Iran, but that it is nothing compared to those presented by the former Soviet Union.

"The Soviet Union had the ability to destroy the world several times over, had satellites spanning the globe, had huge masses of conventional military power, all directed at destroying us," he said. "So, I've made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave. But what I've said is that we should not just talk to our friends. We should be willing to engage our enemies as well. That's what diplomacy is all about."

Obama repeatedly stressed the risk posed by Iran, as he suggested that danger has grown because of policies supported by McCain.

"Iran is a grave threat. It has an illicit nuclear program. It supports terrorism across the region and militias in Iraq. It threatens Israel's existence. It denies the Holocaust," he said. "The reason Iran is so much more powerful than it was a few years ago is because of the Bush-McCain policy of fighting in Iraq and refusing to pursue direct diplomacy with Iran. They're the ones who have not dealt with Iran wisely."

Seems like Obama and his supporters are trying to start a race war. Personally, Ive seen Blacks:

-Rob

-Steal.

-Murder.

-Attack innocent folk.

-deal drugs.

-destroy property.

-threaten people for nothing.

Growing up in downtown LA until I was 11, Ive seen more violence than I can print here and until I joined the US Army, I had a serious HATRED for Blacks, because of what Ive seen them do.

I overcame my prejudice, because I met Blacks in the military who were raised as well (or better) than I was....but, there is thousands of years of primitive instincts that are inside of all of us and I fight hard to keep a tight lid on it.

I don't see what benefit the Obama camp will get by ripping open old wounds and pitting Blacks (who are already squeezed by Latino's) against Whites. Its insanity and I hope Blacks who support Obama will step back from the edge and think clearly.

I love this Obama quote, “If they think that they’re going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family.”

Is this to quote to suggest that he is going to take 'action' for verbal attacks? But Iran killing our soldiers in Iraq, that does not require action? Just a little talk will fix that.

I say Michelle Obama is a liberal elitist.

Check out the latest Dkos comment on this post dittzing LGF commenters at this thread. Oh yeah and in the process revising history so that a liberal democrat freed the slaves. Must admit that most of the commentators find the graphic offensive, not many have problems with the message though. GOP = a bunch of racists.

A liberal democrat freed the slaves? Which slaves are they talking about? Which liberal democrat?

If I am willing (wanting) to vote for someone like Micheal Steel, how come I am racist when it comes to not wanting to vote for someone like Barak Obama? Who decided that my issue is skin tone? My issue is POLICY. Always has been, always will be.

Things I believe

Amadinnerjacket means it when he says he wants to drive Israel into the sea.

The WTC towers collapsed because two planes were flown into them on a 'truth is stranger than fiction' morning in 2001.

WTC 7 collapsed because the crumbling of WTC 1 and 2 caused major ground rumbling (Manhattan is an island and bouncing thousands of tons of steel on it is going to bounce around the lesser buildings.)

Saddam Hussein had and used WMD on the kurds

WMD includes chemical weapons as well as nukes. A nuke dropped on Dallas will not do as much damage to the American population (whether legal or illegal) as poisening the Missouri or Ohio river headwaters.

I believe Barak Obama is an interesting man but he needs to get out more. See the world as an average American.

I agree. The leftists are the true racists, and the people who see race in everything, everywhere. Different human "races" don't even exist. The differences between human "races" aren't much more significant than the differences between blond and brunette caucasions; they're merely superficial.

Leftists are fixated on race and class divisions and the pigeonholing of people into defined groups. I just don't see most Conservatives or Republicans seeing the whole race thing as much of an issue.

There are some lovely individuals (Media Matters) who would like nothing more than to get revenge on us for exposing this stuff, and I'm not going to let them if I can help it. And with media's overwhelmingly leftist slant, if they seize on an issue like this it could really be damaging.

I'll remember that, the next time a dKos diary disappears or gets the sort of brickbats you see here, and the lizardoids claim it's only because the "Kos Kidz" don't want to look bad.

And I'll believe the media ahs an "overwhelmingly leftist slant" when Howard Zinn or Noam Chomsky or at least Juan Cole is syndicated in as many major newspapers as George Will and Charles Krauthammer.

re: #220 Charles

Kos kids doth protest too much:

House Debate and Passage
The House of Representatives debated the bill for nine days and rejected nearly one hundred amendments designed to weaken the bill before passing H.R .7152 on February 10, 1964. Of the 420 members who voted, 290 supported the civil rights bill and 130 opposed it. Republicans favored the bill 138 to 34; Democrats supported it 152-96. It is interesting to note that Democrats from northern states voted overwhelmingly for the bill, 141 to 4, while Democrats from southern states voted overwhelmingly against the bill, 92 to 11. A bipartisan coalition of Republicans and northern Democrats was the key to the bill's success. This same arrangement would prove crucial later to the Senate's approval of the bill.

[OT follows, so skip this if you aren't interested]

Third day of actual basic training, we're getting drilled into the ground in the parking lot (front-back-go). This guy is lying there like a slug. The DI says "you better start doing pushups son". Kid looks him in the eye and says "F- you". We all about crap ourselves. DI says "I'll give you 5 seconds to take that back". Without hesitating kid says "You can take the army and shove it up your ass". DI picked him up by the collar, hauled him to the edge of the parking lot and tossed him down a hill.

Later, when he was being out-processed, he decided it would be a good idea to ransack the Company HQ office. Destroyed paperwork, tipped over desks and files, started a fire. He and three others took off (from Ft. Leonard Wood, great planning). They were arrested the next day.

So you guys want to hide their history of racism instead of dealing with it straight up as Senator Byrd has.

Take a closer look at the image.

The words "Hight Tech Lynching" were used in the Clarence Thomas hearings, tru enough. If you don't think their new Southern Strategy is repeating lies on Youtube, then you probably approved of Strom Thurmond's strategy of dealing with is racist and mysogonystic past.

How many of you realized that Reverend Wright may have been so fired up because of the years and years that Chicago cops were subjecting blacks to Abu Ghraib- like torture?

Between the years of 1972 and 1991, approximately 135 African-American men and women were arrested and tortured at the hands of former Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge and officers under his command at Area 2 police headquarters. Some of these victims were as young as thirteen years old. Various court cases have established that the methods of torture used in the interrogation of suspects included electric shock to the ears and genitalia, mock executions, suffocation, and burning. While Jon Burge was ultimately fired by the Chicago Police Department, not a single perpetrator of the tortures has ever been criminally prosecuted.source

Look at the years and where this was taking place, and tell me how that atmosphere doesn't affect Rev. Wright or Michelle Obama's view of the United States.

How many of you knew that an agent assigned to guard the Obamas has been implicated in a longtime agency racial problem?

OOOooh! Let's take the image down before someone actually starts to think about what it means!

MARKOS DIDN'T PUBLISH THIS, YOU IDIOT.

This was posted earlier on KOS. Did you post this there?

Whether Kos personally posted it or not, its disgusting, and its on his site.

If he wants to sit on the sidelines and let it sit there festering, that's his problem. But he could delete it at will, or take whatever actions he deemed necessary to prevent it or similar posts from appearing there again.

If were Kos, I'd take down the post and ban the poster. . .instantly, with a cover line explaining that that sort of crap would not be tolerated.

If I were Obama, I'd ask an aide to jot off an email to Kos asking him if he s aware that racist trash is being posted on his site. That ought to be enough to hit Kos over the head with a clue-stick, but if not, more pressure could be applied.

It's a typically Roman salad green, looks like dandelion from the image below:

[Link: www.gourmetsleuth.com...]

About Arugula
Arugula is an aromatic salad green. It is also known as rocket, roquette, rugula and rucola, and is popular in Italian cuisine. How to grow, use, and store.

Nutrition
Like most salad greens, Arugula is very low in calories and is high in vitamins A and C. A 1/2 cup serving is two calories.

History and Lore
In Roman times Arugula was grown for both it's leaves and the seed. The seed was used for flavoring oils. On another interesting note, Rocket or Arugula seed has been used as an ingredient in aphrodisiac concoctions dating back to the first century, AD. (Cambridge World History of Food).

Part of a typical Roman meal was to offer a salad of greens, frequently Arugula ( spelled Arugola), romaine, chicory, mallow and lavender and seasoned with a "cheese sauce for lettuce"

What the heck's Arugula anyway? It Can't be any better than the Asparagus I cut out back, rolled in Olive Oil and grilled. Or any of the other fresh stuff I grow.

Arugula is the latest "in" Italian green, slightly above raddichio now that that has become more commonplace. You might know it by the name "rocket." Kind of looks like dandelion. The funny thing is, arugula is a weed. And a perennial. Plant a patch once and you have it forever more. I just put a patch up on the hill along with a nice bed of sorrel, which does the same thing. Seeds of Italy has great seeds (I got the wild version) in huge pacakages - cheap.

The only reason that arugula would be expensive is because it is IN. Certainly not because it is rare.

You could also make big $$$ with a patch of broccoli rabe aka rappini. Not quite as easy to grow as arugula, but not exactly rocket science either.

Hillary gave an interview with a Portland radio station today from Kentucky.
She blasted Barry for already acting like the nominee.
She pointed out that he did well in caucus states with low turn outs & primary states that the party can't win in the Fall.
Heres the best one, she ridiculed his rally before the big crowd in Oregon.
She said that he is afraid to debate & would rather speak before a big crowd than answer questions.
Hillary Rodham Clinton, doing the work that Republican Americans just won't do.

Remember when Hillary and Barry went on and on about who would pull troops out faster? Funny how that argument went away. Watch Barry flip under pressure from McCain on it.

No sane person would yank our troops out at this point.

But, they'll stay on message I believe. They think (by polling American's) that ending this war is what they want. McCain would be smart to stay mostly silent on the issue until late summer. Then present his 3-Step Post Surge Plan for Victory in Iraq. 70% of Americans want to win and will choose victory over defeat.

re: #514 buzzsawmonkey

Michelle Obama is a privileged yet resentment-filled leftist who has been riding the racial grievance hobby-horse at least since college, if not well before.

She and her husband marinated themselves for 20 years in a stew of racist grievance-mongering and leftist propaganda masquerading as religion.

She has been out front shilling for her husband's presidential campaign. Accordingly, her political statements, like the statements of all candidate spouses, are fair game for analysis, comment, and yes, disapproval.

For Obama supporters to even suggest that such analysis, comment, and disapproval in and of itself is race-based, when it is the Obamas themselves, and their statements and their associations, which have injected race into the supposedly post-racial Obama candidacy is deeply dishonest. For the Obamas not to have stated before now, clearly and unequivocally, that such analysis, comment and criticism is utterly legitimate and non-racial gives the lie to any "post-racial" quality to which Obama might wish to lay claim. For Barack Obama to furthermore suggest that his wife and her statements are somehow "off limits" when she continues to shill for him merely demonstrates the depth of the dishonesty of any "post-racial" claims for the Obama candidacy, whether made by the Obamas themselves or their supporters.

Exquisitely articulated - hat's off to you!

Actually, I think King is a very good writer (although uneven). Moonbat to the core, but he does know how to write. Others here have mentioned Pet Semetary; there's a chapter in which the central character in the book, after his little son is killed in a road accident, has an elaborate dream about how the accident never happened, his son grows up, he is waving to his son at college graduation... then he wakes up, he's sick, with grief, it's raining and cold, and he realizes he'll do anything to bring his son back. That chapter is... powerful stuff. King is no hack, even if he is usually writing about vampires and demonically-possessed Plymouths.

Haven't put what you sent in the ground yet - still pretty cold at night. Our last frost date is May 15, so another week yet. The "cold" stuff I planted a few weeks back is doing well - peas are about 6 inches high. Potted up most of the 'maters, peppers and eggplant - the entire deck is covered, can't fit it all in the house. It'll have to sleep under plastic tonight because it is going to be pretty cold.

Had a surprise though. A friend had sent me some asparagus seeds last year, so I germinated them and eventually transplanted them up the hill as instructed. By fall they were gone, no evidence of them this spring, so I had the garden rototilled without regard to where they used to be. And I now have baby asparagus all over the place. Guess I better find it a home.

Good fight. Good night!

Denver is going to be a disaster for the Democrats, and I think that some of the saner heads are realizing this. Some are proffering stories about how there are talks between Obama's people and Hillary's people. As though that will assuage the feelings of those who will be left in the cold when the nomination likely goes to Obama if only to keep blacks from bolting the party altogether. They figure they can cross Hillary's people, even though she's shown that Obama can't win the big ticket states needed in the general election, and can't even get majorities versus Hillary. She's shown him to be a terribly flawed candidate - and that's before dealing with all the racism, anti-capitalist, and anti-American sentiments, to say nothing of his foreign policy stance that suggests rank amateurism or active agitation for appeasement and anti-Americanism.

Left Wing Racism Remembered

One who saw firsthand Connor’s atrocities was our nation’s first female black secretary of state, Condi Rice. Not only did she witness the brutality inflicted on the peaceful protestors at the 1963 Children’s March in Birmingham, but Condi’s neighborhood experienced threats of violence. One of her childhood friends was killed in a church bombing by the Ku Klux Klan along with three other girls. Secretary Rice’s family repeatedly faced discrimination. A prime example of this was when John, her father, tried to register to vote with the Democratic Party. They told him that to register as Democrat he must first guess the number of beans in their jar. Not one to accept such insulting treatment, John Rice headed over to the Republican register and promptly became a Republican.

“’Racism’” is the trump card in the indictment of Republicans,” points out Dr. Thomas Sowell of the Hoover Institute. “But the cold fact is that the whole Jim Crow era in the South was dominated by Democrats.”

re: #543 offendi

I believe Obama needs the "white vote" in order to get elected President, not just the African-American and extreme radical left "white" vote.

As a consequence the smartest thing that the Kos site can do is not inflame the "typical' white voter. From this and other postings they seem disinterested, but seem to prefer being the petulant radical child that insists on ideological purity, at the expense of electoral results.

Congrats kiddies, you will damage the Messiah Man more than Jeremiah Wright. But then again, in my opinion ,the site is the equivalent of political porn for disaffected gen-x'ers that cannot hold or get a decent job and blame the republicans for their personal failings accordingly.

Well, we don't know for sure who's more offensive. The good Rev has got a book due out in October. He'll be promoting it (and himself again) late September. I suspect his presence should provide some great entertainment and political fodder for conservative talk show hosts..

She's shown him to be a terribly flawed candidate - and that's before dealing with all the racism, anti-capitalist, and anti-American sentiments, to say nothing of his foreign policy stance that suggests rank amateurism or active agitation for appeasement and anti-Americanism.

re: #576 galloping granny

Okay, so the picture was a little over the top... (0+ / 0-)
But scrape away the thin layer of sensationalism and you get to a basic political truth Republican strategists understand all too well, and that the rest of us ignore at our peril: While not all Republicans are bigots, bigots who vote vote Republican.
McCain and his handlers have obviously done the math, and realize they need every knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing troglodyte vote they can muster, and to achieve that end it's a fair bet that by the time this is all over we'll have seen a campaign so vicious as to make Wille Horton a Boy Scout in comparison.
So before we all go off and celebrate the second Great Awakening, I suggest we all better watch our collective six and start taking this stuff seriously.
Maybe I've been around too long and seen too much (I've been voting in national elections since '68), but on this one I'm with Yogi: It ain't over 'til it's over.
Then again, if my tea leaves are wrong and Obama's up by twenty points next October, look me up and I'll cheerfully consume these words boiled, stewed or fried. But until then this jury's still out...

Obama, because he has been taken down the stretch by Hillary has had to expend a tremendous amount of time establishing his extreme left credentials in order to get the nomination, which has gone on too long and played out too much in the public eye for the general election, whose voters don't support these extreme positions.

The Kos posters are a great resource for the election. The intellectual complexity and nuance shown on that site establish that most of them should confine themselves to voting for an American Idol. They are not prospective brain surgeons or rocket scientists in my opinion, by and large.

More info and video here...
Decemberists for Obama!

The Decemberists played a surprisingly long set, considering the circumstances. They stuck primarily to more politically-charged songs such as 16 Military Wives and Sons & Daughters, which makes a certain kind of sense given the setting. An occasional song having nothing to do with politics or war slipped in now and then, such as show opener The Crane Wife 1 & 2, July, July! and The Perfect Crime #2.

As the gathering was all about togetherness, Collin Melloy worked a lot of audience participation into the show. We wiggled our fingers in unison, waved our arms, and filled in la dee da’s whenever they showed up. During the final song of the set, Sons & Daughters, Obama supporters chanted “Here all the bombs fade away,” and with any luck come 2009, we’re headed to that place.

They also played a new song I’ve not heard yet called Valerie Plame.

Also, Obama is an idealist. He's not going to pick a moderate VP, he's going to pick someone at least as far left as he is. Maybe even further left. He's made some very bad choices in associates in the past and his VP choice might be the same.

Forgive me for being cynical, but I'm not even sure Obama will pick his own VP.

Ultimately, the decision will rest on whatever the polls at that moment show will be the most strategically advantageous candidate when it comes to bringing in swing voters or states.

Remember, these campaigns aren't mom-and-pop operations, they are multimillion dollar affairs with bundles of professionals and pollsters. Obama has already started his swing from the periphery (necessary to garner the support of the diehard leftist Dem consitituency), to the center. That's why he's started recanting some of his earlier lunatic positions (well documented here).

I think ultimately, Obama will approve the candidate, but probably won't choose him (or her).

Martin Luther King was a proud republican. Let that one loose on your favorite Lib when talking about Obama and "racism" the look of denial, shock and utter bewilderment is so satisfying!

You notice that while you see pics of historical black figures displayed with Obama, MLK is never one of them. . .

It was the simplicity.

I'm so happy that she appeared in the movie, Always. Just lovely. She was terrific in Robin and Marian, too.

I agree. This is Michelle Obama's, Rev. Wright's, and the liberal Democrats' view of white America, especially the South. In depicting her fantasy, it's absolutely accurate.

To their credit. However, to the discredit of KKKOS, its still up there. If a lizard posted something like that here, there would be little left of them for Charles to ban after everyone else (rightfully) worked them over.

I'm not really into ventriloquists, but that guy has real talent. You should see him do "At Last" by Etta James.

Combining Audry Hepburn and "At Last" (hope I get this right)

760 Gang of One  Mon, May 19, 2008 2:58:00pm

As far as the Koslings and most other libtard Dems are concerned, I hold that we really should insist that children be seen and not heard. But then, they do all that stupid street-theater ...

761 Vanceone  Mon, May 19, 2008 3:13:05pm

The author pulled it, not DailyKos. He also is apparently planning on bringing it back, according to the comments. He's gonna tweak it some, though.

762 nightintheruts  Mon, May 19, 2008 3:15:13pm

It's amazing. Except for a brief stint around the world, I've lived in Tn. my entire life.
The only time I've even heard of the Klan or anything like that is when the uneducated democrat idiots and their spiritual mentors bring it up or make it up like in Sharpton's case.

but yeah, we do have guns and God though...
and Michelle Obama is ugly...inside and out.

763 Mich-again  Mon, May 19, 2008 3:15:31pm

Late to the thread. So, whats the picture of Robert Byrd all about?

764 hitnrun  Mon, May 19, 2008 3:46:07pm

The unspoken irony of that picture is that probably everyone in it is a registered Democrat.

765 Ceemack  Mon, May 19, 2008 3:47:17pm

Wow. One Citizen sure got flamed. Hope he had his Nomex undies on.

If you're a liberal and you get beaten up that much on DailyKos, you've really gone too far.

But I wonder if the commenters know that the KKK was originally formed to intimidate...

...Republicans?

Of course, in the liberalverse, the fact that the GOP was formed in opposition to slavery, that Lincoln was a Republican, that Eisenhower used the National Guard to force desegregation, and that it was the GOP that pushed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 through the Senate means nothing--Republicans have suddenly become the enemy of the black man (and the black woman).

Sure would be interesting to know why they think that happened...

Well, the same Dems control the entire education establishment and one of its primary functions is to make sure people stay stupid.

That heirloom arugula is the wild one Bill carries. He also has sorrel and some other pretty unusual things - like a yellow radish from Poland. I'll be happy to have some volunteer mustard next year.

you will love it. a little bit fresh in a salad or cooked up w/ other lettuces wilted style for our 'white trash' version of the french country salad.
(bacon grease rules, sometimes, instead of olive oil)

768 really grumpy big dog Johnson  Mon, May 19, 2008 4:09:19pm

Now this is weird! I come back to this thread some hours later (I honestly haven't read any of the later posts.) and I wanted to take another look at the poster-style image. The very first thing that stood out to me loud and clear were what appear to be fairly clearly-deliniated tank suit tan lines on the woman's back.

What's up with that? Can someone clue me on the potential psychology/pathology of that?

769 29Victor  Mon, May 19, 2008 4:28:23pm

The guy in the center has a flag pin.

Wonder if it's supposed to be Barry.

Thanks for the clarification on the artwork...
At first glance I mistook it for the MSM ganging up on Condi Rice... especially with the David Duke reference and all... at second glance it just looks like more projection from someone who can't get laid...

Not what you think, they are attempting to show prior scars from
the masters whip, these are sick puppies these koslings.

Prior scars are not shaped like tank suit tan lines. Get real.

773 tradewind  Mon, May 19, 2008 4:37:57pm

They can talk all they want, but we had the sense in '00 to save ya'll from President Gore by denying him his home state, and that's why the Dems can't forgive us down heayah in Tennessee.
(We're heartbroken, but we'll continue to moveon against any anti-American president-or- first - lady wannabe we see come down the pike.

Just back a bit late and so hope you get my thanks very much for the vote of confidence for upstate arugula. Thanks too for the seed link, granny. I think the theme of this year's garden could well be "appreciation of hardy (and delicious) perennials"! It's been so chilly that this theme really could gain some natural traction ... brrrrr. Then again, nothing like weeding without the accompaniment of those pesky May flies. :)

KKK was the terror wing of the Democrat Party.

So, the message of this poster REALLY is ... ? Spouse Wars? Hillary versus Michelle?

No WONDER it's vicious!

779 gander  Mon, May 19, 2008 7:35:23pm

That's quite a detailed fantasy you've got going on there, Kos Kid.

780 profitsbeard  Mon, May 19, 2008 10:11:59pm

I gues "Obnoxious Elitist Airheaded Ingrate" was a little too long for the branding iron artiste to illlustrate.

(And "Baby's Got Back" would be inaccurate.)

I suggest:

"Drama Queens For a Day".

781 bubbasbbq  Tue, May 20, 2008 1:53:31am

Did you expect anything less than this from this group of candy-assed nancies with undersized and underdeveloped privates? Hey, if they reacted this strongly to that ad, a) they must have hit the nail right on the head and b) need to make anothr one and run that one, too.

Apology accepted....

P.S. The point was these people would gladly do the same to their opponents, i.e., Lizards, should they have the chance. Indeed. That is EXACTLY what they are doing all the time....high tech lynchings.

784 itsspideyman  Tue, May 20, 2008 7:46:03am

As a Southerner born and raised in Mississippi you have no idea how insulting this poster is to me. People in the South have spent 50 years working towards a better society, one in which the mistakes of the past are the lessons for a better future.

This poster represents something as bad as racism, and that's balkanization, where we as a country are fractured into stereotypes, all the better to hate.

This is depravity at it's worse, a painting of horns and a pitchfork on those you have an honest disagreement with. And it gives you a picture of their real selves, stripped of the softness of words.

KOS, you are sick.

The KKK were the terrorist wing of the Southern Democratic Party but try explaining that to the Krazy Kos Kidz.

788 shanester  Tue, May 20, 2008 8:37:53pm

Hmmm... Comments are gone too. The link is there, but it brings up nothing.

Now that's surprising from the KozKiddies. NOT!

Have they forgotten that the K KK was an offshoot of the Democratic party? I mean, sheesh... forget history much? Who has a former Grand Wizard STILL in the Senate? Who filibustered the 1964 Civil Right Acts? Der! The Demos.

re: #784 itsspideyman

No kidding. I grew up in the south (Florida & North Carolina). Yeah, there are idiots here, but where are most minorities flocking to? Sorry, it ain't Massachusetts. It's Florida, Georgia, et al. Mass, Conn, New York, etc.... they're LOSING minority populations and they're coming here. Good! (Although the Spanish billboards are getting annoying!)

How can anyone make fun of the south (now) when there are states like freaking Vermont? Oh yeah... they're a reliable democratic voting block, they get a pass. The usual crap.

/Apologies and condolences to any conservatives in Vermont. I can feel your pain. I went to a public University. Much the same thing. Keep your mouth shut, or be shunned. Nice freedom of speech there, no?
