Time to Break Out the Cluebat for the New York Times
Well, at the New York Times “blog” The Lede, Mike Nizza has now added a link to LGF in his post about the Koran-shooting incident, after first mistaking another blog for mine: Reactions: Defusing a Koran Shooting in Iraq - The Lede - Breaking News - New York Times Blog.
And even a gun-rights advocate (and blogger at Little Green Footballs) who railed against what he considered Muslim overreactions to previous incidents like the Koran shooting eventually wound up expressing his backing:
By the way, so no one takes this the wrong way, I’m not criticizing the senior commanders for apologizing; this is a reality that they have to deal with in Iraq. It would be counter-productive to do anything else, when a simple statement can defuse a lot of irrational popular anger, and only senior military officials will receive the necessary respect to cool things down. It’s still an absurd situation, though.
Sheesh. I guess I have to spell it out.
Mike: that section you quoted above, starting with “by the way…” and ending with “absurd situation,” was not posted at that gun rights forum by me. Someone re-posted my LGF entry there, including the section you quoted. I have no affiliation with that forum, and that entry was posted without my knowledge or approval. I’d never even heard of the site, before seeing your piece at the Times.
As a matter of fact, it’s a bit rude of them to grab an entire LGF article and re-post it elsewhere, although they do include a pretty prominent LGF logo and link back to our site. You might have missed that, Mike. That’s all right, I understand, I miss obvious things sometimes too.
And although I’m a Second Amendment supporter, it’s quite a stretch to call me a “gun rights advocate” (I’m not) who “rails about overreaction to previous Koran-shooting incidents” (I don’t).
I hope this clarifies the situation, Mike; if you have a chance, would you please update the post to better reflect reality?
