UN Peacekeepers Raping Children

Tue, May 27, 2008 at 8:36:32 pm PDT

More disgusting cases of child abuse by United Nations peacekeepers and NGOs: Peacekeepers ‘abusing children’.

Children as young as six are being sexually abused by peacekeepers and aid workers, says a leading UK charity.

Children in post-conflict areas are being abused by the very people drafted into such zones to help look after them, says Save the Children. After research in Ivory Coast, southern Sudan and Haiti, the charity proposed an international watchdog be set up.

Save the Children said it had sacked three workers for breaching its codes, and called on others to do the same. The three men were all dismissed in the past year for having had sex with girls aged 17 - which the charity said was a sackable offence even though not illegal.

The UN has said it welcomes the charity’s report, which it will study closely.

Save the Children says the most shocking aspect of child sex abuse is that most of it goes unreported and unpunished, with children too scared to speak out.

A 13-year-old girl, “Elizabeth” described to the BBC how 10 UN peacekeepers gang-raped her in a field near her Ivory Coast home.

“They grabbed me and threw me to the ground and they forced themselves on me... I tried to escape but there were 10 of them and I could do nothing,” she said. “I was terrified. Then they just left me there bleeding.”

No action has been taken against the soldiers.

The USA pays nearly 1/4 of the U.N. budget, and this is exactly what it goes for.

Oh, and besides the UN's blatant hatred of Israel, the money that the USA pays, also went for the "safe haven" created for the billions siphoned off the Oil for Food scam.

But by all means America, lean even more on the failed, morally corrupt U.N.

OT: Ex-staffer rips Bush.

One of the worst disasters in our nation’s history became one of the biggest disasters in Bush’s presidency. Katrina and the botched federal response to it would largely come to define Bush’s second term,” he writes.

I hope to read this book someday although it is low on the list. But to claim such prominence for Hurricane Katrina belittles genuine American disasters such as Our Ten Great Natural Disasters, Omaha Beach, 9-11, not to mention Shiloh.

And the reconstruction after Katrina was the largest such project in the history of America.

More than half of the participants in the study identified incidents of sexual touching and forced sex. Of these, 18 and 23 percent respectively recalled 10 or more such incidents.

"They especially ask us for girls of our age. Often it will be between eight and 10 men who will share two or three girls. When I suggest an older girl, they say that they want a young girl," a 14-year-old boy who works at a peacekeeping camp in Ivory Coast told the Save the Children research team.

And the report said official U.N. statistics appeared to underestimate the scale of abuse, probably because so much of the exploitation was not reported by victims.

"Clearly there is a significant disparity between the low levels of abuse cited in these statistics and the high levels suggested in field investigations and other evidence," it said.

Save the Children said there were many reasons why abuse was not reported: fear of losing material assistance, threat of retribution, stigmatization, negative economic impact, lack of legal services, resignation to abuse, lack of information about how to report abuse and, crucially, lack of faith in a response.

I remember this story from a few years back, the UN swept it under the rug then, and they'll sweep it under the rug again.

Here's a story from 2006 entitled UN's legacy of shame in Timor.

A UN investigation has also uncovered a culture of cover-up, in which babies born to peacekeepers and sex crimes committed by UN staff in the past seven years have been kept secret because of a "fear of shame and embarrassment' in the deeply religious country.

The findings will shock the UN bureaucracy as it prepares to boost by thousands its peacekeeping force in East Timor.

I don't think a bureaucracy is capable of being shocked.

Some years ago, I was serving with a US Army detachment in a certain Central American country. There was a hurricane and we were in the middle of it. Our guys went to work even before it was over, looking for survivors, coordinating supply deliveries and distributing what we had. We also had to find and bury the dead as an urgent public health requirement.

A couple of days into this, a goup of pompous do-gooders from an allegedly Christian charity showed up. They made disparaging remarks about "war-mongers" and "militarists" trying to do relief work, then sat around on their fat asses for a couple of days while we completed most of the hard work. After that, they roused themselves from bellyaching about the food and air conditioning long enough to sally forth and hand out some token aid packages in front of video cameras, both their own professional grade gear and that of the media. They disappeared then, satisfied at a successful fund-raising propaganda effort. The locals thought they were dirt

I know. Nothing gets me angry the way child abuse does. It is really frustrating that the UN not only allows it - they enable it. They put into positions of power troops/men from countries with track records of abuse. They send them into countries with incredibly vulnerable children and women. They do it over and over and over. No one at the UN does a damn thing to stop it. Anything done to stop it is due to outside influence stepping in, and even then it is only a stop-gap measure.

The UN is a cess pool.

Just a thought here.

The UN has peacekeepers and in the press all they do is for the good.

If we rename our armed forces will we get the same pass?

Marines will be Unicorns
Army will be puppies or kittens
Navy will be Dolphins
Air Force will be Doves

And then they can go out and hunt this kind of scum with impunity.

Muslim women say New Brighton company's dress code violates faith

A group of Muslim workers allege they were fired by a New Brighton tortilla factory for refusing to wear uniforms that they say were immodest by Islamic standards.

Six Somali women claim they were ordered by a manager to wear pants and shirts to work instead of their traditional Islamic clothing of loose-fitting skirts and scarves, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a civil liberties group that is representing the women.

The women have filed a religious discrimination complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

"For these women, wearing tight-fitting pants is like being naked," said Valerie Shirley, a spokeswoman for the Minnesota chapter of CAIR. "It's simply not an option."

139 Catttt  Tue, May 27, 2008 9:21:52pm

Remember East Timor? A report in 2006 indicated that many many crimes against women and children, including young boys, occurred. Troops from Australia caused no such trouble and were disgusted by troops from "unnamed countries" who raped, sold children into prostitution, forced or enticed women and children into prostitution, and engaged in bestiality.

The report was pretty much the end of it. NO ONE was charged or prosecuted. NONE of the bastards born as the result of free-flowing UN semen were provided with care. Few people reported crimes, out of fear of ostracism in a very religious, old-fashioned environment.

One story did leak out with a country mentioned - a couple of Jordanian (surprise! not) UN peacekeepers were sneaked out of the country and flown back to Jordan for surgery on their penises, which they had damaged during sexual intercourse with goats.

re: #84 jaunte WHOA! This story must be REALLY more horrible than we know, if both the NYTimes (via Al-Reuters) and the Beeb are reporting on it.
Indeed the NYTimes said "Accusations of sexual abuse by U.N. peacekeepers and aid workers around the world have increased in recent years and the United Nations is investigating claims against its soldiers in hot spots such as Haiti, Liberia, Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic of Congo." (emphasis added realwest)
[SNIP]
"The study found a huge range of exploitation and abuse: children trading sex for food, forced sex, verbal sexual abuse, child prostitution, child pornography, sexual slavery, sexual assault and child trafficking.

The focus groups identified children as young as 6 as having been abused, although most were aged 14 to 15.

U.N. peacekeepers were identified as the most likely perpetrators by 20 of the 38 groups, although a total of 23 humanitarian, peacekeeping and security organizations were associated with sexual abuse in the three countries."

This is nauseating enough, but all that the report suggested was that: "The report said while the U.N. and some non-governmental organizations were stepping up efforts to address the problem, a global watchdog should be established this year to monitor attempts to tackle abuse and champion effective responses."
BULLSHIT. US taxpayer money is funding something like 25% of the UN budget and we ought to be DEMANDING that the UN take more dramatic and drastic action then setting up another watchdog group.

Racer X,

It's a crying shame. The U.S. has the will, the capacity, and the resources to help so many, yet they turn us down over petty differences.

It's not "petty differences" keeping U.S. aid out, but cold and calculated policy. The Burmese government doesn't give two shits about their people. In terms of complete indifference to the welfare of their population, they rival North Korea.

The latest Rambo flick (which was surprisingly good by the way) focuses on the savage war the Burmese government has been waging against the Karen people.

My Dad, who was responsible for her, was so busy with his newspaper, he didn't take time to give the situation his attention.

She got marks on her face from the mice while she was sleeping. So, me and my seven kids did the march around the building. The UN has said it welcomes the charity’s report, which it will study closely.

In order to be thorough, however, no action will be taken until we have had the opportunity to study all the reports closely, over a 20 year period and of course assess how these reports differ over time, from place to place. Only then can we put the report up for a consensus whether or not this represents good UN behavior or not and if we should put a stop to it. No rushing to judgment here...we must be fair to our soldiers, our UN employees by not assuming them to be guilty before all the facts are in and proper review has been made. Only when it comes to America, can we assume that they are guilty without serious investigation, because that is what we are here for...to suck all the money from the rich Americans and give it to the poor UN employees of the world.

Virtue may be its own reward, but here, the reward comes from ripping off America, destroying the Jewish state, taking what we want from the poor because they have so Little as it is, they won't miss a bit more...

Someone who read Ayatollah Khomeini's book, perhaps. He gives the ok and instructions not only on how men can correctly have sex with animals - he also gives advice on how to have sex with children. It is truly disgusting, but it just puts down on paper what lots and lots of Muslim men have been told is ok to do. Needless to say, not all Muslims - not all Shias - go along with that stuff, the book is controversial, and lots of Muslims decry such behavior as it describes. For example, there is the BRAVE and HEROIC Ghada Jamshir.

Obviously, though, there are lots of Muslim guys who have been taught that sex with animals and children is ok with Allah.

Some problems seem so entrenched and institutionalized that tackling them is almost -- but not entirely -- hopeless. The UN is a contemporary example of M. Weber's theory of the bureaucratization of society, the inevitable decline into amoral rules with immoral consequences.

Very interesting!
Thanks.

Obviously, though, there are lots of Muslim guys who have been taught that sex with animals and children is ok with Allah.

I think the bigger problem is they have been taught that sex is about power and domination. And in that context the partner becomes just something of convenience to be subjugated.

When I read a story as the topic of this thread, I'm not comforted, but somehow I'm in the knowledge that it's not as widespread as one may be made to believe. But when I read what you've written I'm certain the opposite is true. I know it to be so widespread, it's pandemic throughout the Muslim world.

re: #88 Shiplord Kirel

PLEASE PLEASE tell me which charity that was. I donate a lot of money to one of those international christian aid groups. aaaahhhh!

London: Hundreds of trucks rolled into central London yesterday to jam a major route into the capital in a protest at the rising price of fuel.

P.S., Average price in my area is $4.26/gal. I keep driving less and less, which means I am going to fewer and fewer places, which in turn means I am putting less and less money into the economy.

Whoa, if all y'all need my wisdom, we're in deeper shit than I thought!
As an attempt at a short piece of advice (it's late, my cancer meds are kicking my ass and I'm tired) I like the approach of demanding answers from Obama, Clinton, McCain and Bush - and keep pushing them for specific answers.
And then follow up. Every month. Write a letter. CC your congresscritters on each letter and send at least one letter to each of your congresscritters that you are NOT going to stop until the UN STOPS outrageous and barbaric behavior, IN IT'S NAME and if the UN doesn't do that poste haste, We are going to push for what McCain has suggested - a League of Democracies which will rended the UN obsolete and without funds or qualified, true soldiers. In other words, we are going to make the UN UNnecessary for that part of the world that really counts.Rendering the UN USELESS is, I would submit, the single best thing we can do. Let all the third world dictators and even "First World" (eg Saudi Arabia) countries rot in thier own stew - we don't need 'em and don't want 'em and sure as hell don't need to listen to their crap. Oh, and by the way, I also think that tall, slender bluish building on Manhattan's East side, which is apparently is some disrepair, should be fixed up and leased to the League of Democracies; the UN will simply need to find someplace else to move it's headquarters to - perhap Teheran.

:Empties a beretta clip:, thank you for a productive dialogue savage, I feel like our issues are resolved

Not to be an a**hole... Berettas take magazines, not clips.

The easiest general way to tell is that if it completely encloses the ammunition, it's a magazine.

A clip is a loading device that simply holds loose rounds together for easier feeding into the magazine.

The last U.S. issue small arm that used clips was the M1 Garand, which was replaced by the M14 that used removable magazines.

... Just a pet peeve of mine.

In Egypt, they were tombs, yes.
With the Mayans, they were temples. Adoratories.
They did have a different purpose, indeed.

Sorry, just joining the thread and only read about the first 50 comments. But I have an idea for an academic study- Let's examine the ratio of U.N. "peacekeepers" who commit atrocities in their host countries, to U.S. "trained killers" who do the same.

Of course we could never get an accurate count because of the U.N.'s propensity to bury such stories and numbers. But I would hazard a guess that the ration is about 10:1 - "peacekeepers" commited crimes vs "trained killer" crimes.

Yes, I'm a guy, and thank you for the well wishing!
One time my wipers decided to stop working in the middle of a thick slushy snowfall. Had to take city streets all the way home. Turned my 15 minute drive home into an hour long nightmare.

i had to drive through a thick slushy snowfall on Planet Irwin one fine January morning.... since this was in a deuce & a half, and since it never snows in CA, i had to stop every klick or so to scrape the snow off the windshield with my Ek.....

my illustrious PL, who was in a POV with another orificer, came along whilst i was so engaged and yelled at me, from inside the car, for stopping, rather than keeping up with the convoy..... he then bird dogged us until we got out of the snow, onto the highway, and caught the convoy.

then they shot past us, took the next exit, and went by us a little later, eating fast food...... our MRE's weren't anywhere near as warm.

/payback came later %-)
