UN Peacekeepers Raping Children

Tue, May 27, 2008 at 8:36:32 pm PDT

More disgusting cases of child abuse by United Nations peacekeepers and NGOs: Peacekeepers ‘abusing children’.

Children as young as six are being sexually abused by peacekeepers and aid workers, says a leading UK charity.

Children in post-conflict areas are being abused by the very people drafted into such zones to help look after them, says Save the Children. After research in Ivory Coast, southern Sudan and Haiti, the charity proposed an international watchdog be set up.

Save the Children said it had sacked three workers for breaching its codes, and called on others to do the same. The three men were all dismissed in the past year for having had sex with girls aged 17 - which the charity said was a sackable offence even though not illegal.

The UN has said it welcomes the charity’s report, which it will study closely.

Save the Children says the most shocking aspect of child sex abuse is that most of it goes unreported and unpunished, with children too scared to speak out.

A 13-year-old girl, “Elizabeth” described to the BBC how 10 UN peacekeepers gang-raped her in a field near her Ivory Coast home.

“They grabbed me and threw me to the ground and they forced themselves on me... I tried to escape but there were 10 of them and I could do nothing,” she said. “I was terrified. Then they just left me there bleeding.”

No action has been taken against the soldiers.

The USA pays nearly 1/4 of the U.N. budget, and this is exactly what it goes for.

Oh, and besides the UN's blatant hatred of Israel, the money that the USA pays, also went for the "safe haven" created for the billions siphoned off the Oil for Food scam.

But by all means America, lean even more on the failed, morally corrupt U.N.

I hope to read this book someday although it is low on the list. But to claim such prominence for Hurricane Katrina belittles genuine American disasters such as Our Ten Great Natural Disasters, Omaha Beach, 9-11, not to mention Shiloh.

And the reconstruction after Katrina was the largest such project in the history of America.

More than half of the participants in the study identified incidents of sexual touching and forced sex. Of these, 18 and 23 percent respectively recalled 10 or more such incidents.

"They especially ask us for girls of our age. Often it will be between eight and 10 men who will share two or three girls. When I suggest an older girl, they say that they want a young girl," a 14-year-old boy who works at a peacekeeping camp in Ivory Coast told the Save the Children research team.

And the report said official U.N. statistics appeared to underestimate the scale of abuse, probably because so much of the exploitation was not reported by victims.

"Clearly there is a significant disparity between the low levels of abuse cited in these statistics and the high levels suggested in field investigations and other evidence," it said.

Save the Children said there were many reasons why abuse was not reported: fear of losing material assistance, threat of retribution, stigmatization, negative economic impact, lack of legal services, resignation to abuse, lack of information about how to report abuse and, crucially, lack of faith in a response.

Here's a story from 2006 entitled UN's legacy of shame in Timor.

A UN investigation has also uncovered a culture of cover-up, in which babies born to peacekeepers and sex crimes committed by UN staff in the past seven years have been kept secret because of a "fear of shame and embarrassment' in the deeply religious country.

The findings will shock the UN bureaucracy as it prepares to boost by thousands its peacekeeping force in East Timor.

I don't think a bureaucracy is capable of being shocked.

I know. Nothing gets me angry the way child abuse does. It is really frustrating that the UN not only allows it - they enable it. They put into positions of power troops/men from countries with track records of abuse. They send them into countries with incredibly vulnerable children and women. They do it over and over and over. No one at the UN does a damn thing to stop it. Anything done to stop it is due to outside influence stepping in, and even then it is only a stop-gap measure.

I noticed nothing about harsh jail sentences were implied in the article, just that the guilty were "sacked" and later had all charges dismissed. Well, what can one expect from an international body run by politically correct moonbats and terrorist sympathizers. The UN out of the US now!

Just a thought here.

The UN has peacekeepers and in the press all they do is for the good.

If we rename our armed forces will we get the same pass?

Marines will be Unicorns
Army will be puppies or kittens
Navy will be Dolphins
Air Force will be Doves

And then they can go out and hunt this kind of scum with impunity.

Thanks, for clearing that up. I was wondering about that, too. C arridine had been on my scroll over list for quite some time because I thought you were some weird troll stalking K arridine.

Well at least that worked. Charles your devolution with IE 6 has really cut my options down. I can't access the left side bar IE Tools/Info or the LGF Hints (they are all light grey) or the Dictionary... I also can't spell check or preview my entries. What is a Lizard to do?

Hmmmm. I am using IE 6.0 without any of the symptoms you list.

Yeah, they should be bagged rather than sacked, with the UN billed for the cost of their final cigarette.

As a newbie, you should look before you leap. Carridine has been here a lot longer than you and is well-known. Some lizards have well-known sock puppets/alter egos, you see.

Sorry Catt, but I'm used to seeing "Karradine" late at night, and have never, ever seen "Carradine".

No offense intended, for sure. Just concerned that some wacko had hi-jacked his/her nic.

My apologies.

Muslim women say New Brighton company's dress code violates faith

A group of Muslim workers allege they were fired by a New Brighton tortilla factory for refusing to wear uniforms that they say were immodest by Islamic standards.

Six Somali women claim they were ordered by a manager to wear pants and shirts to work instead of their traditional Islamic clothing of loose-fitting skirts and scarves, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a civil liberties group that is representing the women.

The women have filed a religious discrimination complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

"For these women, wearing tight-fitting pants is like being naked," said Valerie Shirley, a spokeswoman for the Minnesota chapter of CAIR. "It's simply not an option."

It is a shame that John Bolton was not allowed to finish his work of cleaning out the UN.

G'nite you all.

re: #92 Catttt You are absolutely spot on with that post, Cattt - and although I'd like the US to get the hell out of the UN and get the UN the hell out of the US, no matter what, this is just ONE example of the outrageous and downright criminal and immoral behavior of the UN and it's minions over the years.
And as I said in my #93, we need to pin down Bush, McCain, Obama and Hillary (just in case) ON VIDEO TAPE saying what each of them WILL DO ABOUT IT.

Well shit, the UN might as well open up rape rooms and shit like that.

The UN doesn't need rape rooms.........it has rape countries.
