Big discussions with family and friends and praying with pastors - such an obvious decision - and he spends weeks making up his mind.
Not leadership material

Once again I remind everyone that it was not 2.5 months ago this same man said he could no more divorce himself of Wright or Trinity Church than he could his own family. Yet he wound up doing so anyway. If this isn't enough proof that he is a shallow hack fool I don't know what is.

Out of sheer orneriness, I'm posting this again, because no one seems to have noticed it:
Magic Bus
by the Who, Me?
Every day I add to the queue (too much, magic bus)
of folks to throw under the bus -- like you. (too much, magic bus)
They're so nervous, they just sit and smile (too much, magic bus)
Your time is coming, just wait a while. (too much, magic bus)
Thanks Rev. Wright, for getting me here (too much, magic bus)
Without your sermons I'd be stuck on my rear. (too much, magic bus)
I don't want to cause no fuss (too much, magic bus)
But can I throw you under my Magic Bus? (too much, magic bus)

You know another phrase regarding change? "The more things change, the more they stay the same." The more I see of Obama, the more he reminds me of Jimmy Carter.

On the contrary, they cheered wildly. They continued to be in full support of Barack Hussein.

Christ probably would have been 'black' by the crazy one drop rules and by features, one-drop rules that were basically about maintaining a slave class especially in places like Mississippi, SC and Louisiana where blacks began to outnumber whites during slavery. Alexander Dumas, Pushkin etc.. people also with 'ashen skin and lambswool hair' were considered so.
Just as the half immigrant with a father who happens to be from Kenya instead of France or China, the descendants of slave traders and owners on both sides of the family, can go to a place like Trinity and marry and angry (but highly privileged) Power Sister, learn a little Ebonics and code switching, and then all of a sudden be 'black' as well-- until it gets time for the general.
Take it from this particular code-switching Mulatto. I said it before and it is already happening. Obama will go white in the general election, he will be a log-splitting immigrant, not an American Negro.

Having left many a church after technically being a "member" and finding it completely wrong for me, here's what Obama should've done.
(1) Don't attend the church anymore;
(2) Don't touch the issue with a ten foot pole until January;
(3) Announce that you're leaving the church because of a geographical move away from the area, make sure to state clearly that you got a Letter of Recommendation from Trinity that you'll present to a new church;
(4) Join a much more conservative church.
Whoever on his campaign thought of making this decision/press conference, at this time, surrounded by ornery local SD newspapermen, should be fired.

He doesn't believe in anything but himself, and, as St. Paul writes, to be a Christian a person must die to self.

Presidential contender Barack Obama formally left Trinity Church of Chicago, Illinois, a decision observers describe as wrenching but politically expedient. Though a member of Trinity church for more than two decades, Obama has come under increasing scrutiny and criticism because of his close association with its pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Critics of Wright claim his sermons were both racially inflamatory and anti-American. Supporters of Wright, in contrast, claim his sermons had themes and a worship style typical of urban African-American churches.

No one knows the latter and I certainly meant the former. But the likelihood of the chance to find out if he is a Statesman is increasing and to the dismay and disbelief of many here who still cling to the idea that Obama is a fluke creation of the MSM and not a man more of his own making than for example Kennedy and perhaps as much of his own making as a Clinton or even Reagan.
This speaks to his organizational and promotional skills which are genius level, not to his character or ability to lead.

"The lady doth protest too much"
Democrats restore Michigan, Clinton may challenge
May 31 07:29 PM US/Eastern
Democratic Party officials restored renegade state Michigan to its presidential convention Saturday with halved voting rights, but Hillary Clinton's camp said it may challenge the ruling.
The Democratic National committee's rules and bylaws committee voted 19 to 8 to restore the northern state, after earlier voting to reinstate Florida, which also broke party rules by bringing its primary forward to January.
Clinton, who won the primary, in which Obama's name was not on the ballot, will get 69 delegates, who will each only have half a vote in nominating the party's presidential nominee.
Obama will get 59 delegates, who will also have half a vote under the plan.
But Clinton's senior advisor Harold Ickes, who had argued that Obama should get no votes, said the former first lady's supporters had been hijacked.
"Mrs Clinton has instructed me to reserve her rights to take this to the credentials committee," Ickes said.
The committee is due to meet in July as preparations accelerate for the party convention.
The rules and bylaws panel earlier voted 27-0 for the compromise Florida plan, which will give primary winner Clinton a net gain of 19 delegates to the convention but leave her well behind Barack Obama in the total delegate count.
The plan will see all the state's delegates , and superdelegates (top party officials) restored, but they will each have only half a vote at the convention in Denver in August to crown the party's presidential challenger.
At a fiercely contested meeting at a Washington hotel, the committee earlier rejected Clinton's bid to have the Florida delegation seated in full.
Clinton's angry supporters chanted "Denver, Denver" demanding the row be taken to the party convention in August and "Madame President" "Madame President."

Democrats restore Michigan, Clinton may challengeMay 31 07:29 PM US/Eastern
Democratic Party officials restored renegade state Michigan to its presidential convention Saturday with halved voting rights, but Hillary Clinton's camp said it may challenge the ruling.
The Democratic National committee's rules and bylaws committee voted 19 to 8 to restore the northern state, after earlier voting to reinstate Florida, which also broke party rules by bringing its primary forward to January.Clinton, who won the primary, in which Obama's name was not on the ballot, will get 69 delegates, who will each only have half a vote in nominating the party's presidential nominee.
Obama will get 59 delegates, who will also have half a vote under the plan.
But Clinton's senior advisor Harold Ickes, who had argued that Obama should get no votes, said the former first lady's supporters had been hijacked."Mrs Clinton has instructed me to reserve her rights to take this to the credentials committee," Ickes said.

"If Trinity United Church was simply a club to improve Obama's standing in the community, then he is consistent in discarding his membership today, when such gain is gone.
"But if his church membership was truly spiritual -- then this action shows a fundamental lack of integrity. Obama's resignation of membership in Trinity United Church demonstrates that he will trade even on his faith for political advantage.

Tzipi Livni: terrorist-hunter secret of woman tipped to lead Israel
The frontrunner to become Israel’s next prime minister, Tzipi Livni, was a Paris agent for Mossad, Israel’s overseas intelligence agency, in the early 1980s when it ran a series of missions to kill Palestinian terrorists in European capitals, according to former colleagues.
They say Livni, now foreign minister, was on active service when Mamoun Meraish, a senior official in the Palestine Liberation Organisation, was shot dead by a Mossad hit squad in Athens on August 21, 1983. She was not directly involved in the killing, in which two young men on a motorcycle drew alongside Meraish’s car and opened fire, but her role in Mossad remains secret.

Are the Japanese still hating on Jews? Just curious, I had read that they have this weird antisemitic thing going on there.
I would say there is a weird philosemitism of the variety that does not ultimately help much and perpetuates anti-semitism.
When Japanese spin theories like Jews control the world economy, they next sentence is usually something like, "how can we Japanese learn to be as smart and successful as the Jews, despite our tiny numbers."
It is very hard to explain that in this context of anti-semitism (which Japanese are largely oblivious to) that those kind of 'compliments' are not so useful.

Re Obama's 'flexible liberalism'. You can be so open-minded that your brains fall out.
Obama looks for these angry father-figures and mimics them. He has such a fragile ego structure that he is unaware of his own anger. He
blames others for his hollow identity. Sorry that sounds like complete jargon, but this man lies to HIMSELF. I believe that his life is constantly recreated in Barry's own mind. There's no center. He's dangerous for America and the rest of the world. The 'uniter' has already caused increased racial tension in the U.S.

By quitting, I think he is trying to save his sinking ship. We'll see if the media actually give this story the coverage it deserves.
On a related note, you know if McCain had quit his church over remarks made there, the media would be commenting about how awful and bad he was, how he was running out on an organization that he had previously supported. We'll obviously have to wait and see if that shows up. My take? Don't hold your breath.

Huh?
The black liberationists would yell at him for throwing Trinity, they would certainly not cry out if he stayed there.
But I guess we know what you meant, those who SNEER at him for throwing Trinity, would SNEER at him loudest if he did not. But the historic fault remains in either case, maybe he's making his best move, no matter how weak it is.

Pardon me, but I think you need to reconsider.
Statesmen tip their hands on such grave matters as troop withdrawals and "unconditional" (his word) negotiations with insane tyrants?
God save our constitutional republic if they do.
I really don't understand your thinking at all.
He is his own man, but if his prescriptions demonstrate his ideas, they are far to socialistic for the health of this nation. He has, however, benefited from a supine and fawning media that until recently hasn't shown much in the way of criticism at all. No sane person can fail to recognize this fact.
He or his backers do possess sagacious skills at organization (perhaps learned at the feet of Saul Alinsky), but I wouldn't go so far as to say they manifest any particular genius, any more than his tenure as Editor of the Harvard Law Review, which did not achieve because of his superior grades, was a function of genius.
I don't know what a Kennedy-Carter president may be; Michelle might, pondering one night on the ramparts of the White House and seeing the ghost of Marilyn Monroe and on next opening a refrigerator full of Billy Beer, find that daunting; but I certainly hope we never find out.

re: #799 vagabond trader
Are the Japanese still hating on Jews? Just curious, I had read that they have this weird antisemitic thing going on there.
Mrs. Former Belgian lived there for years. There are a few towns with Jewish communities (Tokyo, Kobe), and we actually know Japanese who converted. She never experienced personal antisemitism --- people were very friendly (how sincere such friendliness is is hard to tell with any Japanese ;-)) but never let her (or any non-Japanese, for that matter) forget she was "gaijin".
There is also a group of Japanese Christian Zionists called Makuya or something. They (or another group like them) have a theory that the Japanese themselves are actually the lost tribe of Zevulun/Zebulon.
At the other extreme, there are undoubtedly Japanese who believe in "Protocols" type conspiracy theories. A magazine named "Marco Polo" published some Shoah denial stuff, and following an international outcry was closed down. (Generally, if the Japanese do something at all, they don't do it by halves.)
During WW II there was a weird episode where a number of Jewish refugees ended up first in Shanghai (then Japanese-occupied), then on the Japanese mainland. Japanese officials believed the various conspiracy theories about Jewish world domination, and tried to sort-of establish contact with the fictitious "Elders of Zion". There is a book called "the Fugu Plan" by Marvin Tokayer describing the episode. ("Fugu" is the notorious Japanese fish that is supposedly delicious if properly prepared, but lethal otherwise.)

There's a related, but different, phenomenon with Chinese. Chinese will sometimes tell you "the Jews are the Chinese of the West" :-)

Actually committed Hiri-Kiri to protect Hirohito, though he didn't have to, the "Deal" was already done - and nobody told him. Konoye was a proper "Samurai-Saxon" of his time. He absorbed the European Anti-Semitism of his time as a required "osmosis." Fortunately, for the Jews if NOT the Chinese, or other "Europeans" - there were people in the Japanese Foreign Office who actually remembered 1905. German-Jewish Bankers in New York financed the Japanese War against Russia - apart from making a few dollars - Wonder Why? - I Don't, they were able to give the Czar a "PAYBACK for POGROMS" - and that's the way it was!

Unfortunately so was Hitler. Not that I am saying that Obama is Hitler, I am not. However, the dynamics are not so terribly different. Both gained power through eloquent speech on a racist blame the other guy platform and when push came to shove they threw their supporters under the bus. [As you may remember Hitler carried out a pogrom on a lot of his brownshirts in which he literally had them assassinated.] Obama is not the psychopath that Hitler was. To give him the benefit of the doubt, I think he means well [but to some extent Hitler did in his own warped way due to the "stab in the back" theory of why German lost WW 1]. But expedience seems to be Obama's modus along with the far left views of his mother. He is horridly naive on most things and has not had the "black" experience of most of the "blacks" in this country have had given his ancestry. As a kid 50 years ago, I did the tour de churches as part of our sunday school class. We attended one of the local black churches in the area. There were people standing up and talking about their grandparents who were slaves. Obama has none of that. His shared experience is largely vicarious. Not to say that there are not a lot of blacks who would not vote for Satan himself if he showed up as black (the same can be said of some whites), but sadly this does not bode well for racial relations in the future.

Right, it's a doctrinal issue, and most mainstream churches take a "hate the sin, love the sinner" approach. But some churches, especially black Protestant churches, are more hostile.
The other day, you claimed you didn't keep up with churches, but tonight, you abruptly have a more definitive stance and link to a WaPO Liberal Left attitude-laced article based on their usual formula, one disgruntled Black gay woman who left a conservative, Bible-based Black church becuase they didn't "affirm" or "support" what is taught as a sinful, as in self-destructive lifestyle, and found another so-called church with the fire alarm warning, "Unity" that threw out ALL the teachings of scripture to cater to a group of people who want the church to conform to THEM, not THEY conform TO the church.
Waay down in there, WaPo blandly admits beyond the scriptural issues of Black Churches lagging behind Liberally Left wussy churches, which in another universe outside the WaPo would be counted as a sign of GREATER WISDOM and FIDELITY to the Word of God, with the UNDERSTATEMENT of the YEAR:
In addition, black ministers reject the comparison of the gay rights struggle to the black civil rights struggle.
Ooh yeah. Gee, wonder why that would irritate them.
