Tech Note: Reorganizing Menus

Sun, Jun 1, 2008 at 12:55:38 pm PDT

To make it more obvious which “pseudo-links” will cause some hidden content to slide into view, they’re now styled in green, with little “flippy triangles” to show that clicking them will display their associated content.

Also, the “LGF Headlines,” “Recent Comments,” and “Top 10 Comments” all use a similar collapsible menu interface, and they’ve been grouped together in the left sidebar.

(If you have Javascript turned off, none of these things will work. Go ahead, lose your fears, turn on Javascript. You’re missing a lot of the web’s best stuff if you browse with it turned off.)

If you are using Firefox, the NoScript add-on lets you specify java script (and other) permissions on a site-by-site basis. You can also grant permissions temporarily. For this deny-dangerous-stuff-by-default behaviour to work, you have specify the permissions in Firefox to enable Javascript and Java. The permissions are then managed by NoScript (and you).

From DEITIES & DEMIGODS

Cyclopedia of gods and heroes from myth and legend for Advanced D & D. Published by TSR in 1980.

NYARLATHOTEP (the crawling chaos, the messenger of the gods)

Lesser god

[skip stats]

Nyarlathoptep appears as a tall dark man. His appearance in the world is said to foretell the the return of the Old Ones from their imprisonment. He charms humans, humanoids, and non-magical animals by his mere presence (good alignment, save at +4; evil alignment, save at -4). Those falling under his spell either obey him or behave in a purely chaotic manner. Thus his progress across the face of the land is followed by riot, war, mass murder, suicide, and insanity. No non-sentient creature can harm him, even if controlled.

The god is believed by some students of the occult to have various guises, including a red bat-like form with three evil eyes. He can call up an army of wild beasts or mindless humans within an hour's notice (1-100 of them). Each time Nyarlathotep hits an enemy, he drains 3-30 hit points from them, which temporarily add to his hit point total for one full turn. There is a 5% chance that a continual light spell will drive this being off into the Astral Plane.

A ventriloquist is touring the clubs and one night he's doing a show in a small Texas town. With his dummy on his knee he starts going through his usual dumb blonde jokes.

Suddenly, a blonde woman in the 4th row stands on her chair and starts shouting. "I've heard enough of your stupid blonde jokes. What makes you think can stereotype women that way. What does the color of a woman's hair have to do with her worth as a human being? It's guys like you who keep women like me from being respected at work and in the community, and from reaching our full potential as a person. It's because you and your kind continue to perpetuate discrimination against not only blondes but women in general....and all in the name of humor"

The embarrassed ventriloquist begins to apologize, and the the blonde yells, "You stay out of this mister! I'm talking to that little shit on your knee".

First if there is a Michelle Obama tape they will spin it as a response to all the racism Michelle encountered at Princeton, and that she wants a "better world" for black and white babies, yadda, yadda. Or PMS, who knows.

The reality is high-minded campaigner Sleepy John won't use it, but Billary certainly will. Without those Clintons Sleepy John's campaign would be in a lot of trouble before the convention.

Real issues are the Messiah's tenuous grasp on basic economics, cluelessness on foreign policy and negotiations, and his inability to function without a full text or teleprompter. He would be easy pickings for a real, fired up republican candidate without Bush baggage, but John " Happy Just To Be Here" McCain is the nominee.

McCain doing a Bob Dole imitation will keep it close.

Wow....
Christian preachers face arrest in Birmingham

A police community support officer ordered two Christian preachers to stop handing out gospel leaflets in a predominantly Muslim area of Birmingham.
...
They said when the officer realised they were American, although both have lived in Britain for many years, he launched a tirade against President Bush and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mr Cunningham said: "I told him that this had nothing to do with the gospel we were preaching but he became very aggressive.

"He said we were in a Muslim area and were not allowed to spread our Christian message. He said we were committing a hate crime by telling the youths to leave Islam and said that he was going to take us to the police station."

The preacher refused to give the PCSO his address because he felt the officer's manner was "threatening and intimidating".

The ministers claim he also advised them not to return to the area. As he walked away, the PCSO said: "You have been warned. If you come back here and get beaten up, well you have been warned".

In our church we have been counseled and trained to store a year supply of food where that is possible. It is so important to have food on hand, and not be one of those poor souls waiting in endless lines in an emergency.

Things are happening in the world, and our food supply lines are vulnerable to all sorts of natural and man-made events.

Remember to include soap
some comfort foods,
medical supplies,
lots of plastic garbage bags to handle human waste
and light sources like lanterns, flashlights and batteries and bulbs.

People I know who have very good information tell me that this is more important than ever before.

At this website Provident Home Living then clink on Family Home Storage and download the pamplet. You will find instructions of how to properly store a 3 month supply of food and water.

There are additional instructions for periods longer than a 3 months.

We've been instructed on this for years - and now we are being told it is even more urgent. Email me if you have any questions.

DT

Looking at it critically, the British police have been unable to protect their own citizens from violence either by these people or by uncontrolled hoodlums throughout their country. ... and they take great exception when people seek to protect themselves, making the victim into the criminal should that victim harm one of the delinquents attacking them.

Here's CAIR's analysis of the Rachael Ray keffiyeh ad. STOP WEARING CLOTHES!

A move by Dunkin' Donuts to pull an online ad featuring Rachael Ray after a blogger dubbed the celebrity chef's scarf "hate couture" was an "incredibly silly situation," a U.S. Islamic lobby group said on Thursday.

The ad, online for two weeks before Dunkin' Donuts removed it last weekend, showed TV host Ray wearing a black and white scarf that some critics likened to a keffiyeh, a traditional Arab headdress. . .

"It's sad that Dunkin' Donuts pandered to that kind of fear-mongering. They have businesses in the Middle East, in the Arab world. It's interesting to see how that will affect business there," said Ahmed Rehab, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

"I think it's a mistake to demonize a single article of clothing," said Ahmed Rehab, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "Yes, maybe some suicide bombers have worn it, but so have a million other non-suicide bombers. It'd be as ludicrous as decrying clothes because all 19 people involved in the Sept. 11 attacks wore clothes."

Oh my yes. I'm pretty sure the thread regarding Hillary's Swan Song is premature. Power is what Bill and Hill have lived for and designed their lives around. They aren't going to quietly shuffle off the stage until their is no (zero, zip, zilch, nada) chance of her winning. There is no downside for her to take this all the way through the convention -- the dolts in NY will re-elect her regardless of what she does, after all, it's several years before her term for that office expires. By the time that rolls around, her constituents will be saying, "she ran for president 2 years ago? Really?" So she won't hurt herself even if she destroys the rest of the democrat party. Obamessiah's lousy showing at yesterday's press conference probably gave her a huge morale boost. She's in until they drag her out of the convention.

The celebration was punctuated with the Israeli rock band Mashina, Mandy Patankin, and Regina Spektor. I'm sure there were a lot of covert lizards slithering around too. A couple of moonbats were running around on the periphery and they had a truck with the requisite Naqba, but it's not even worth the effort speaking about them. I'll try to get the photo's up asap and will list the URL for those who are interested.

What if: the only two options for President were H.C. or BHO. With our knowledge of them remaining the same;
what do you imagine the voting public would decide in such an election?

Just a thought to play around with, if you've reeeeaaaly nothing to do!

As much as I hate Hillary, if we had to choose, Clinton all the way. At least she won't crater the stock market. Not to mention the entertainment value of at least four more years of Bill.

You know I am not upset about this little slip of the tongue and the same about his uncle which camp he helped free--after all we all have slips of the tongue--I have 2 grandson's and 2 granddaughter's and I have called one by another's name or said ones name when talking about the other, but the real problems I have with him and think we should be hammering as hard as we can is his policies, his lack of experience and the hate that is spewed at the church he has attended and supported for 20 years, and the other people in his life that he has chosen to befriend, serve with on boards and except their money and support. I think the slips of the tongue can be something we can laugh at but I think we should really not keep going after the small stuff or the big things that come out with only fall on deaf ears. Toned out, but of course most Obama supporters are already deaf and blind to his downfalls.
Sorry for going on and on! ! ! !

The thing with BHO and his slips.; most of slap our foreheads and say D'oh! Make fun or ourselves and own up to them. Because we all do it and it's part of being human.

BHO tries to spin out of his slips, then gets defensive if pinned down. GWB, makes fun of his own language missteps. BHO get all defensive, that to me is a sign of weakness of character, personal insecurity. We cannot afford to have someone in the White House who does not yet know themselves. To lead a person has to be comfortable with themselves and very well aware of their own shortcomings, and the ability to listen to others in those areas. BHO lacks that capacity and it part of what makes him so dangerous.

NESARA
NESARA’s reformations are the main tools for implementing important US Supreme Court rulings made in January 1993 on several cases filed by farmers living in US Midwest and Mountain states areas against banks, specific government officials, certain judges, and others. Certain US Generals and Admirals were supportive of, and one General was co-plaintiff in, the Farmers’ Cases that went to the US Supreme Court. You may recall in the 1970’s and 1980’s there were news reports and documentaries about thousands of family farmers losing their farms to foreclosure. Willie Nelson has been doing Farm Aid concerts for years to help these farmers.

In the 1980’s some of the farmers investigated why there were so many bank foreclosures on their farms and discovered certain banks were fraudulently foreclosing on their farms. When these farmers turned to government officials for assistance and filed lawsuits against these banks, they learned certain government officials and judges were working in collusion with the banks. The farmers also learned that certain aspects of the current Federal Reserve banking system were unconstitutional and pursued their lawsuits through the Federal District Court in Denver and other locations. Some of the farmers involved in the lawsuits were harassed by the IRS and in turn investigated the IRS involvement with the bankers. After years of lawsuits, several of the farmers’ lawsuits reached the US Supreme Court including Baskerville and Foster v. Credit Bank of Wichita, Federal Land Bank, and First Interstate Bank of Fort Collins from the Denver Federal District Court. For simplicity, I call these cases at the US Supreme Court the "Farmers’ Cases".

Yep, agree with you. The two things that McCain might (and I say only might) be better at: security and appointment of SC judges. Even at that, it's a crap shoot. We know what Hillary or Obama will do, and it's all bad. We don't know for sure what McCain will do in these two areas, so there is some hope. As far as the rest of his policies, hardly a lick of difference between the three of them. He's been over the aisle so much, he doesn't have a clue which side he is from anymore.

207 WitchDoctor  Sun, Jun 1, 2008 3:06:48pm

Majorly OT:

Just returned from the Washington State Republican Convention. There was a major effort by the paulbots to stage a coup. A few more counties in their pocket and it would have happened. As it was, I estimate they were about a third of the total attendees.

My district managed to not elect any to the national convention, but with the third largest group (from Spokane county) in their pocket, I know some managed to get elected. On one occasion I saw a delegate running for national say he would vote for McCain. He lost, and then put on his ron paul button. Shameful.

We also narrowly (it was quite a story) defeated an effort by the paulbots to enact some really weird crap into the State platform and resolutions, especially the latter.

Had a great time though, and was thoroughly proud to be in a room with 1300+ other Americans who not only sang the national anthem together, but knew the words too :)

highlight: being called a "traitor" by a paulbot as he was removed from the convention floor by Spokane's finest :)

Change!

The story somewhat begins, but is well described, here: Petraeus Aide's Call For A "NEW LEXICON"

In his multi-faceted article, "New Paradigms For 21st Century Conflict," David Kilcullen of General David Petraeus' senior staff in Baghdad recommends five major initiatives to be taken in developing truly effective counterterrorism (COIN) strategies, operations and tactics against al Qaeda-style Terrorism (AQST).

In briefest of terms, these are to (1) Develop a New Lexicon, (2) Get the Grand Strategy Right, (3) Remedy the Imbalance in Government Capability, (4) Identify New Strategic Services, and (5) Develop Capacity For Strategic Information Warfare. While others will comment in learned fashion on all five of these topics in due course, this commentary will concern only the first -- the proposed New Lexicon.

To make a medical analogy, this is an enemy which is not in the nature of a state-based, clearly definable tumor to be neatly cut out by a scalpel but is, instead, an ideology-based cancer which been metastasizing for several decades (particularly the last one) and is attacking far-flung elements of Western Civilization 'round the clock and seeking a "death by a thousand cuts" result.

He will learn that the sermon preached at the mosque is not a hate crime even though the imam is calling for the death of the infidels, but that handing out a piece of paper which contains the official form of the religion of their country is obviously a hate crime. They will learn communication through both the friday sermons and memorizing the Koran in Arabic. Gad, am I ever glad my grandparents left that poor excuse of a country to come to the US by way of Canada. The moonbats and soccer louts have taken over the country.

CAIR is at it in Texas.

As a response to an alleged incident at Friendswood Junior High (Galveston County Texas), CAIR barged right in and called it a "Hate" crime. They requested to speak to the students. Due to a mix-up between the superintendent and the JR high principal this actually occurred and the kids were herded into assembly and had two Muslim women give them Islamic culture lessons. Some of which was that Jesus, Noah and such were prophets, there is one God and he is called Allah....and so on. Below is the text of a note sent out by the superintendent. While a lot of the comment I hear is about having Muslim religious lessons in a public school, the point I think that is missed is CAIR calling the FBI on a bunch of 12 year olds having a school yard squabble.

Dear Parents and Community Members:

In response to an incident that occurred between students at Friendswood Junior High School and the perception and fear that it caused to some involved, Robin Lowe, principal, was contacted by the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and told that they considered the incident a hate crime and had reported it to the FBI. Mrs. Lowe and Sherry Green, Deputy Superintendent, attended a meeting with representatives of CAIR. At the meeting, CAIR requested an opportunity to present factual and basic information about Muslims to students at Friendswood Junior High School since the school is predominantly Anglo Christian. Anticipating this request, I instructed Mrs. Green that the district would welcome the presentation to administrators and staff only, but not for a student presentation. This has been the way the District has handled other requests by groups interested in raising our awareness of the culture of our students who are minorities in Friendswood. After administrators have listened to others' concerns, we discuss the issues we are having in FISD schools and the appropriate way to address them for our students. After the meeting, I was told that a presentation would be scheduled with the administrative team. It is obvious now, that a misunderstanding occurred between two very competent and dedicated administrators.

In the midst of activities during the final two weeks of school, Mrs. Lowe was contacted by CAIR and asked to schedule the presentation. Mrs. Lowe hastily scheduled the presentation and notified me and Mrs. Green the day before the presentation by email. Neither Mrs. Green nor I saw the email until the following day when the presentations were occurring or had occurred.

From what I have been told, the content of the presentation was informational. My concern for our community and for our students is not as much with the content of the presentation as explained to me, but with the fact that a group had an audience with our students without consent from parents or this administration. I consider parental trust critical to our success as a district. This trust was violated and I deeply regret that.

I am not surprised by the community's reaction. Most of you receiving this letter have had years of experience with this district and know the kinds of activities your child has been exposed to in school. This was an isolated incident and a mistake. I am implementing corrective actions to ensure that a similar situation does not occur again.

Friendswood is a faith based community and founded on these principles. The school district has always and will continue to honor that heritage.

There were some facts in that Wiki I never knew:

Leon and Marilyn Klinghoffer, a Jewish couple, were celebrating their 36th wedding anniversary with a cruise aboard the Achille Lauro. On the afternoon of October 8, 1985, four Palestinian terrorists, who had hijacked the ship, shot Leon Klinghoffer, 69, in the forehead and chest as he sat in his wheelchair. The militants then forced the ship's barber and a waiter to throw his body and wheelchair overboard. Marilyn Klinghoffer, who did not witness the shooting, was told by the hijackers that he had been moved to the infirmary. She only learned the truth after the militants had left the ship at Port Said. P.L.O. Foreign Secretary Farouq Qaddumi brazenly suggested that the terminally ill Marilyn Klinghoffer had killed her husband for insurance money. [2] Initially, the terrorists were granted safe passage to Tunisia, but U.S. President Ronald Reagan ordered a U.S. fighter plane to force the get-away plane to land in Italy. After an extradition dispute, Italian prime minister Bettino Craxi allowed the terrorists to escape.

I never knew RR ordered that flight diverted.

Therefore not this ship.

In case nobody else has mentioned it, if you use Firefox, you can get NoScript. It will allow you to select which sites you want to run java scripts--and which scripts on each site. So you don't have to have either all running or none.

This were Patrick Leahy lost his seat on the intel committee he went on one of the morning shows and blabbed enough the operative in Egypt who got the tail number of the plane was fingered.

According to a 1987 San Diego Union-Tribune report, in a 1985 television appearance Leahy disclosed classified information that one of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's telephone conversations had been intercepted. The information that Leahy revealed had been used in the operation to capture the Arab terrorists who had hijacked the Achille Lauro cruise ship and killed American citizens, and the Union-Tribune claimed that Leahy's indiscretion may have cost the life of at least one of the Egyptian operatives involved in that operation.

Four ferries are 80 years old, have been operating on Coast Guard waivers for 50 years. The replacement funding was approved in '01 but spent elsewhere.

"Woof!"

"That's my dog Tige. He lives in a shoe. I'm Buster Brown. I live in there, too!"

When I was growing up, nothing less was acceptable!

Thanks, but that wasn't intended as funny. That was an actual radio commercial! ! !

B. Hussein supporters should be mocked too. It's hard to believe so many people are duped by his farce.

Well, they're faced with not just him but, his entire machine.

I didn't mean it that way, it reminded me of my youth, my simple, enjoyable, youth.

And whoever made the pin left out his middle name.

If Obama were true to himself, he'd have thrown his middle name under the bus, and went with something else.

The guy is a caricature created by George Soros.

I don't imagine these are very hot sellers:

    GOP for Obama pin

And I offer the following image without editorial comment.

    Another Obama pin

They'd sell more if they had a pin that said, "I hate Whitey"

Are the open borders with Canada and Mexico "attractive nuisances" for terrorists?

Think about it; if you are an Islamic terrorist trying to enter the US illegally and you are caught, there is no record of you ever having entered the country. No one can ask whatever became of you or complain about your "treatment" by US authorities without drawing attention to himself.

I'm guessing such a person would technically be a spy -- caught red-handed attacking the US -- and would have no "rights".

What would be a good place to put these people? Prison ships?

(If you have Javascript turned off, none of these things will work. Go ahead, lose your fears, turn on Javascript. You’re missing a lot of the web’s best stuff if you browse with it turned off.)

I turned on javascript and a lizard the size of my cat crawled out of the LCD. Right now the cat and I are locked in the bathroom while my brother drives over with a net and an enormous 4 foot empty mayonnaise jar.

Charles. That comment spy thingy is amazing. When I worked at NASA way back at the end of the Gemini program, I took a programming course to "better myself" (!)-- when the instructor showed us the innards where we were to (or I think we were) supposed to switch wires around...I surrendered. No more programming courses for me. I had already made the mistake of answering the question: How many languages do you know--with "Oh, one. English."
