How come liberal always use "The people before Politics" line? Liberals don't give a rats ass about what "the people" think and thats because the "people" stand in the way of their socialist utopia. But whats really idiotic is that these moonbats honest to God believe they represent and are the voice of the people. Its laughable.

Coincidence!
I just got forwarded an email from the "Impreachment slate," which includes Shirley Golub who is ALSO running against Pelosi AND Sheehan. (Golub is even further to the left, believe it or not.) But this email was written by Brad "Beach Impeach" Newsom who ran as a write-in candidate to the left of Barbara Lee in Oakland, for the Democratic nomination.
Here's what Brad had to say (this was obviously written about 18 hours ago):
----------------------------
...
It's nearly midnight now, and I've been sitting here in my living
room rocking chair for about 45 minutes, staring off into space and
thinking about the predicament this country is in. ...It just
kills me that we've let a bunch of grifters from the oil industry
cheat their way into power, loot our treasury, ruin our global
stature, transform our currency into confetti -- and the worst of it
is that we've barely raised a collective finger, barely raised our
collective voice, to object. We go about our comfortable lives buried
beneath a layer of resignation and cynicism, mumbling same-old,
same-old, as though hypnotized. ...
But tonight I'm feeling helpless, powerless. For years now, barely an
hour has passed where I haven't been thinking about this mess. Rarely
has a day passed where I haven't taken some action to try to bring our
lying, torturing leaders (and ourselves, too) to account. But tonight
I feel as though I haven't really done anything, as though I've been
sitting by, watching while my country, our country, shatters. Tomorrow
the Democratic Party is going to nominate candidates for Congress who
have been absolutely silent about confronting our criminal
administration. It doesn't bother me that I'm not going to be
nominated. What bothers me is that I don't see anyone out there with a
plan, with an idea, that I think will transform the shock and anger
and revulsion of the populace into results.
I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong about ALL of this. Maybe the
Democratic leadership knows what it's doing. Maybe this rope-a-dope
strategy -- "Impeachment is off the table..." -- maybe they're on to
something. Maybe they're going to grab the White House and suddenly
lead us toward a sustainable future where everyone is cared for, and
where we can all share the things we've got, and where we can all just
get along. That would be nice. But I've never seen it work that way.
I've never seen bullies dispatched without someone standing up to
them. And I certainly haven't seen the Democrats standing up. Even
with the Scott McClellan controversy, we've got just one politician --
Robert Wexler -- raising his voice for impeachment.
I'll stop now. What an education the last three years have been -- no
matter how many votes I get tomorrow, I'm going to feel like I won
something. I've given myself (and many of you, too) the opportunity to
vote for a pro-impeachment candidate. And that feels good. Even if it
was the very least I could do, it feels right. (If you live in
California, and if you want to vote for a pro-impeachment candidate,
look to find one here.
----------------------------
There. That's probably the most publicity Brad's campaign has ever gotten. A little late, sure, but better than nothing!

I feel sorry for Cindy Sheehan. She lost a son in a war. She has every right to disapprove of the war. She disapproved before the loss of her son, but perhaps the loss of her son drove her over the edge into insanity. However, regardless of the terrible loss she suffered and the psychological factors that led her to become a spokesperson for the very people who were her son's mortal enemies, her actions along with those of many others have contributed to increasing American deaths by jihadis, past, present and future.
Whether going into Iraq was a mistake or not, the almost incomprehensible (until you study Islam) brutality of 9/11 and thousands of other Islamist terrorist attacks since proves that this is a war that was imposed on us and that we cannot avoid. If we had never stepped foot in Iraq, it would be killing Americans and other infidels just the same. We did not choose a war with Islam. Jihadis chose a war with us. Not just any old war over territory or local hegemony or whatever, but an all-out war of extermination. Islamists want to exterminate us. Without resistance, they will succeed. Iraq is just a footnote in history.
The big story that neither Sheehan or any other anti-American jihadi apologist understands is that absolutist Islam wants to kill or subjugate all non-Muslims and even other Muslims. This is self-evident. It's obvious from countless news reports, from countless statements by jihadis themselves and from looking at the theological texts that justify the barbarism of Islamists.
Sheehan crossed the line from tragic loss to propagandist for the enemy, and in so doing her actions may have contributed to the deaths of many others. A shark is aroused when it smells blood. Sheehan used her position to prevent wounds from being treated and ensure that the bleeding would continue and further arouse the aggressive killer instincts of sharks that were killers before Iraq. Never mind that she has dishonored what her son believed in and fought for; unless you believe that he was a mindless drone or hopelessly economically deprived (and he was neither), in a volunteer military, it's clear that he chose to fight.
Perhaps now Cindy Sheehan's time has passed and is no longer a force and can no longer be used by others as a tool of propaganda to promote more death in the name of jihad. Even in her prime, she did not do as much damage to our ability to resist jihad and creeping sharia law (which is responsible for the deaths of millions in and of itself) as CAIR and its allies of evil. She was just one little cog in the wheel.
So maybe I do feel sorry for her still. She lost a son. She's a victim - a tool - herself of the Islamist/Leftist alliance, which revels in destruction and loves death.

You know if the "women in black" were actually "the MILFS in black"; they'd have their own show, a hit single and a recording contract, plus would be booked to speak at half of the conventions in the USA... and people would be talking about what they have to say.
Then again, they're not... so they end up on Zombietime with Sheehan and all morph into the same caricature of empathy...
Maybe it is part of the evolution of the species? They have found their niche and will be soon all exhibit the same markings and same distinct characteristics?

Actually, after sitting through at least 15 minutes of Hill's speech - she went through every "accomplishment" she could claim, and some she couldn't but did anyway - the final verdict was that she isn't going to make any decisions tonight.
Then she asked everyone to go to her website and tell her what they thought she should do - stay in? or bow out? - and also, while they're there, if they could drop a few bucks in the offering plate, that would be appreciated.
So she's plodding on, it seems. At least until she gets overwhelming support from her wonderful supporters on her website.

Scott McClellan should have seen this picture before he sold his soul for a 75k advance and face time with Oralman and Kristen Matthews.
Scott McClellan has a new book out called Bad Stuff 'Bout Bush or something similar that is an unflattering tell all about the Bush administration. Being an important blogger, I already got a copy and here are some of the more damaging allegations in it:
BAD STUFF 'BOUT BUSH
* President Bush mislead the country about Iraq.
* He would often give people unflattering nicknames, like how he called Scott McClellan "Tubby Tubberson Who Is Tubby and I Hate Him".
* Was insensitive about the hurricane Katrina tragedy.
* Put dead fish in Scott McClellan's car.
* Used Scott McClellan to lie about the outing of Valerie Plame.
* On numerous occasions put Scott McClellan in a trash can and rolled him down a hill.
* Had political opponents disappeared.
* Once used a permanent marker to put a mustache on Scott McClellan while he was napping just before a press conference.
* Plotted to blow up an orphanage on the behest of big oil.
* Kept tying Scott McClellan shoe laces together.
* Talked about going to the National Archive and destroying the Constitution so no one would no whether or not he was violating it.
* Always made fun of Scott McClellan's tie.
* Razed a village in South America to make way for condos he never ended up building.
* Whenever he got bored, he'd order his Secret Service to "beat up Scott McClellan for being fat."
* Wasted a month of his administration seeking the lost city of gold.
* Would often spray Scott McClellan's path with a water bottle to make it look like he wet himself.
* Thought of selling America to buy another baseball franchise.
* Kept eating Scott McClellan's lunch even though it was clearly marked.
This all certainly looks bad for the Bush Administration, and President Bush has dismissed the charges in the book as "stuff written by a fat guy that everyone hates."
It's Frank, of course. At IMAO.

Why $19.94? In '94 health care derailed in Seattle, she talked about it in her book. Kirby Wilbur the talk show host who organized the '94 protest suggested $19.94. When they get a shit load of donations for $19.94 from Seattle, she'll get the message.

re: #130 Kosh's Shadow
I had felt sorry for Cindy Sheehan until I learned she had been a moonbat for a long time, and her son enlisted against her wishes. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, and I found I was incorrect.
Whether she was liberal or not before her sons death is not so important, because we all have a right to be liberal or conservative, unless/until Sharia Law or other kinds of fascism forces us all to be drones. What is worse and more damning of her is that she used the natural sympathy normal people feel toward those who have suffered the ultimate loss (what's worse than the death of one's child?) to excuse the ideology that led to his death and attack the only force capable of ending the reign of terror of that ideology (a resolute West...or at least US, since most of the rest of the West seems already thoroughly dhimmified). So she used the death of her son to gain credibility in a fight against "American imperialism" while at the same time allowing herself to be blatantly used by jihadi propagandists. She is a victim and exploiter/abuser. She is one sad, confused and dhimmified collateral victim of jihad.

It makes perfect sense and I said he would do as much last Saturday on an Obama thread here, my words were something like 'be prepared for him to pull granny from under the bus, prop her up on stage and she will give him a resounding endorsement.' Have to click my football.
Because now that he has his black ticket punched he is going to run white and to the right. He will shift from presenting himself as the black healer to the perfect union of black and white.
In any case, he will begin to tell his story of solid mid-western roots and immigrant vigor and move the black stuff to the way background.
I hope there are educated mulattoes in the McCain campaign who understand how Obama code-switches.

Irvine) and all the rest of the Wahhabi organizations with three- or four-letter abbreviations operating in the US are much greater clear-and-present dangers to our society than Cindy Sheehan will ever be. CAIR is in stealth mode in terms of media efforts but seems to be very active in the courts recently - pro-sharia lawfare goes on.

Here's a piece on the latest aggressions of the U.C. Irvine Muslim Student Union:
[Link: frontpagemag.com...]
If pleasant middle-to-upper class Irvine won't pacify Islamists, nothing will. These Wahhabis are privileged kids in Orange County, California - immigrants who arrived young and first-generation "Americans."
I wonder how long the BS that it is socioeconomic deprivation and oppression that engenders jihadism will go on. All the facts point to the contrary. Jihad in the West and much of Muslim world is a middle-to-upper class phenomenon. The poor often only enter into it as the foot soldiers recruited by the wealthier. Perhaps it takes a certain amount of money, free time and leisure to study the Islamic texts hard enough to become radicalized by them. It's the Koran and hadiths, stupid!

What you may not know is that the Bakken formation has been drilled for decades, even currently there are several rigs there now (I forget the last rig count - you can get it from the Baker-Hughes service company), and most importantly the expected production from the area is not that large.
Unfortunately these things (like Bakken) get a myth built up around them and it gets hard to keep people from jumping on false hope.

freetoken, you have previously dismissed the Bakken potential, but what of newer techniques? I'm not in the oil business but these reports are fairly convincing.
[Link: www.bloomberg.com...]
June 3 (Bloomberg) -- John Bartelson, who smokes Marlboro Lights through fingers blackened with tractor grease, may look like an average wheat farmer. He isn't. He's one of North Dakota's new oil barons.Every month, he gets a check for tens of thousands of dollars from a company in Houston called EOG Resources Inc., which drilled two oil wells on his land last year. He says the day his first royalty check arrived was one to remember.
``I smiled to beat hell, and I went to town and had a beer,'' Bartelson, 65, says.
His new wealth springs from the Bakken formation, a sprawling deposit of high-quality crude beneath the durum wheat fields of North Dakota, Montana and southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The Bakken may give the U.S. -- the world's biggest importer of oil -- a new domestic energy source at a time when demand from China and India is ratcheting up the global competition for supplies and propelling average U.S. gasoline prices to almost $4 a gallon.
And unlike the tar from Canada's oil sands, Bakken crude needs little refining. Swirl some of it in a Mason jar and it leaves a thin, honey-colored film along the sides. It's light - -almost like gasoline -- and sweet, meaning it's low in sulfur.
Ain't it wortha try?

So forgive me if I share this again at a more US friendly time, I would like as many people to here this as possible which was just related to me by Ms. Tokyobk who works in the profession of PR:
A large group of corporate sponsers have come together to put on a series of free events and workshops to celebrate Japan's role in the fight for the environment; recycling, not wasting etc... which has become completely part of Japanese everyday life. In fact, at sometime next month, all neckties will come off so as to be able to keep AC use to a minimum, its called "cool biz."
SAo you would think the Great Goracle might want to participate in something in the country a city of whose is the very name associated with the effort to fight warming, a country which from the prime minister to the school kid has completely adopted eco-friendly living as an ideal. The african lady who won the Nobel prize foir environmental work whose name escapes me is a hero here and appears in all kinds of posters and public messages.
So "Goa" as they call him to my amusement, since he does have the ego the size of a small Indian state, was approached as the keynote speaker and naturally offered a high five figure speaker's fee, plus of course all expenses, but asked to make a series of public advertisements and meet with politicians and celebrities during several events.
Negotiatons apparantly broke down because 'Goa' demanded six figures for 10 minutes.
A second hand story to be sure which I would confirm before I published somewhere but I believe it and will be looking into it as a formal piece somewhere. I would love to nail him on something like this.

Ain't it wortha try?
You missed my point... which is, Bakken has been tried, is even now being "tried", and all the anecdotal stories will not change the basic truths that lay underground....
The USGS recent estimate came in much lower than all they hype that preceded it... because those who were doing the hype (btw, who were they, land speculators?) ignored the previous analyses and experiences of those who had worked there.
My concern here is not so much with the geology, but the acts of hyping and manipulating the US populace.
People want to believe that there is waiting out there on some previously forbidden-to-drill land in the US a monstrous pot of oil that will make all the problems (of importation and high energy prices) go away.
The problem with really, really wanting something so badly is that you make yourself susceptible to hucksters of all stripes.
It is my belief that not only do such sources not exist (in sufficient quantity to make a difference), but the looming issue of the loss of Mexico as a source (they were #2) of oil has not even begun to be addressed. (Oh, you theoretically can have all the liquid hydrocarbons you could ever want ---- at a price that would make you blanch - through upgrading tar and through coal-to-liquids.)
I say this after spending the last three years trying to tear into this issue, not as trying to pass myself off as an expert.
LGF is not a site for wonkery... which is why I don't go into long lists of facts and links... but if you are interested there are thousands of websites out there that deal with energy issues. I'd recommend starting with the US gov't sources (USGS, EIA) and work on from there.

LGF is not a site for wonkery... which is why I don't go into long lists of facts and links... but if you are interested there are thousands of websites out there that deal with energy issues. I'd recommend starting with the US gov't sources (USGS, EIA) and work on from there.
Nice stuff. The Bakken fields are clearly not as previously trumped, but make no mistake, there's tons of energy out there to tap until we can transition to alternatives. We shouldn't go back to the stone ages in the meantime, which is what the obstructionists dream we will do.

Okay, with GREAT skepticism, I post this from an UNKNOWN and UNRELIABLE website that seems to communicate often with that Larry Johnston website, noquarterusa. Again, this is probably bogus, but there WAS a photo up earlier today that showed Michelle Obama was at the Rainbow/PUSH event with Farrakhan's wife in Chicago in 2004.
The photo taken from JET magazine July 26, 2004:
[Link: i162.photobucket.com...]
The UNVERIFIED information from the HillBuzz website (AGAIN I DO NOT KNOW NOR CAN I VERIFY THE AUTHENTICITY OF THIS OR EVEN IF THIS IS PURE NONSENSE):
Here's what's known so far:
The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women's Event.
Michelle Obama appeared as a panelist alongside Mrs. Khadijah Farrakhan and Mrs. James Meeks.
Bill Clinton spoke during the Conference, as did Bill Cosby and other speakers, but not at the panel Michelle attended.
Michelle Obama spoke at the Women's Event, but referenced Bill Clinton in her rant --- his presence at the conference was the impetus for her raving, it seems.
For about 30 minutes, Michelle Obama launched into a rant about the evils of America, and how America is to blame for the problems of Africa. Michelle personally blamed President Clinton for the deaths of millions of Africans and said America is responsible for the genocide of the Tutsis and other ethnic groups. She then launched into an attack on "whitey", and talked about solutions to black on black crime in the realm of diverting those actions onto white America. Her rant was fueled by the crowd: they reacted strongly to what she said, so she got more passionate and enraged, and that's when she completely loses it and says things that have made the mouths drop of everyone who's seen this.
The "tape" is a DVD that Trinity United sold on its website, and possibly offered free for download up until March 2008 when Trinity's site was scrubbed and the DVDs were no longer offered for sale.
This outburst happened just one month before the 2004 Democratic Convention, when Barack Obama delivered the keynote address.
PLEASE PASS THE GRAINS OF SALT.

I read.
More importantly, I am never content with the first source I come across.
A few years back I got more interested in the whole oil scene, both out of interest in earth science but also because of the energy issues (e.g., imports.) While I do have science degrees, they are not in geology... but again my conclusions aren't based on that (mostly), but on reading as much material as I could find.
Recommend start here:
Areas of Historical Oil and Gas Exploration and Production in the United States as a primer on drilling history. In this LGF comment I posted a link to the latest ANWR analysis.
(If you are interested in the Mexico issue both the WSJ and the Economist have had several good articles over the past couple of years, if you want to search those sites.)
You made a comment about "make it worth while." Not sure I understand what you meant.... my whole point is not about "worth" per se, but of misplaced effort (politically) and a sort of non-preparedness on the part of many Americans.
Case in point - the "hybrids" you mentioned. Did you notice the news today about GM (and Ford)? Talk about being unprepared for the future... fortunately the Japanese have been a little bit more thoughtful about the future.

I do know though that if they are like noquarterusa they are quite intensely pro-Clinton and are liable to say anything to knock Obama out of the race.
Sure would be nice to find that videotape. At least there now is a starting point: TUCC's very own videotape collection. Although that being said, SOMEBODY must have released it by now, although the congregants over there are not too likely to throw Michelle under the bus.
I have a wariness and a weariness factor of 10.

Honestly? All I have seen are rantings and ravings from some one who seems upset at an unknown to us somebody. A simple question was asked and I still haven't seen a response to it. All we know is that the person is in the lounge where you happened to be frequenting tonight. Things were as civil as they get on the late night dead thread with most of the regulars wandering around doing their own thing. I personally took umbrage when you lashed out at LeePro. The further I read of your postings though I couldn't come up with a single logical reason why you should go on that way.
Now as to me "running away", I was making a choice to go do something else until you finished spewing and crapping all over the thread. It means in no way that I am SPINELESS. Consider this the last comment from me to you on this or any subject. You are hereby placed on my scroll over and ignore list.

Hi Neo!
The protests are MUCH LESS POPULAR this time (cf. 2006-2007) and so are a LOT smaller. Much as a few vested interests MIGHT like to trigger violence, this govt is rather cannily defusing the stuff pretty well AND avoiding any formal declaration of VIOLENCE against poor, unarmed, harmless demons

What the Prez likes to do in this country is re-align the holidays a bit. If an important holiday falls in the middle of the week (e.g. June 12, Independence Day), they are shifted back or forward to make three-day weekends (in this case, June 9 is the non-working holiday) except those holidays that are important to local lefties (e.g. May Day). This way they can't bus in people from the provinces to pad their numbers.

It looks really bad for Evito (lol) There are four separatist referendums in process. Two in richer lands, and two in more Indian, poor areas.
Three of them have being held, and Evo lost all of them! But what bids more dark for the commies is that the poor, Indian areas have voted against Evo too! His discourse has been that Indians and poor people are his main supporters.
Now that reality has contradicted his meme, I wonder how is he going to sell his agenda domestically and abroad.
I'm sure some people in Caracas and a lot in Cuba are not sleeping comfortably tonight.

In Fallujah , Mohammed Jaber saw one of the coins and said he thought of the bullets lodged in the Quran, the torture of Iraqi men at the Abu Ghraib prison in 2004 and the rape of a 14-year-old girl and her murder and that of her family in Mahmoudiya.

US 4th Fleet resurrected. (back since 1943)
U.S. 4th Fleet will be responsible for U.S. Navy ships, aircraft and submarines operating in the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) area of focus, which encompasses the Caribbean, and Central and South America and the surrounding waters. "Reconstituting the Fourth Fleet recognizes the immense importance of maritime security in the southern part of the Western Hemisphere, and sends a strong signal to all the civil and military maritime services in Central and Latin America," said Roughead. "Aligning the Fourth Fleet along with our other numbered fleets and providing the capabilities and personnel are a logical execution of our new Maritime Strategy."

I went to sleep (or whatever it is I do that passes for sleep) feeling very uncomfortable after hearing Obama's speech. I wasn't what he said (because as usual, it wasn't much) as much as it was the frenzy he'd whipped up among the crowd.
I couldn't exactly put my finger on it until this morning...
Sieg heil.
LOL, you are a woman of my own heart.

I understand. Especially how the media is talking of his "meteoric rise" from obscurity. Stuff like that kinda creeps me out. And knowing all his leftist and terrorist connections I pray that he doesn't win the election.
/hoping for Hillary to keep fighting to Denver.

But after tonight, I have to put you on my watch list. Don't go postal on me, it doesn't mean you are about to be banned, even if I had the power to do so, which I don't. But I do worry about you.

That question is only relevant when the contest is between an (R) and a leftist [ (D), Greenie, Commie, et al]. And in that case, the answer is always, "The (R) stole the election."

It depends. If you count MI and FL Hillary leads. If you count estimates (AKA wild guesses) for caucus states then Obama is ahead. [Linky-Dinky]

I am sitting in the D terminal at Atlanta's airport waiting for a flight, listening to the CNN feed that is piped into every corner of this place.
You'd think Goebbels was running the operation. No let up in the accolades for Obama and how he outshines McCain in every respect and how McCain is just Bush III.
I figured some media outlets would try to play the general election straight, but this morning I don't think there is a chance.
The irony is one that historians will laugh at : these are the same people who think they joined a "drum beat for war" and have sworn that they will never participate in such journalism again. Yet here they are pulling full force for a first term Senator with no legislative track record who hails from America's most corrupt political machine without even a cursory element of skepticism. This candidate is going to deliver a united country simply because he says he will while his opponent has a rich legislative history of getting both sides of the aisle to work together.
God help us, because we are doing nothing to help ourselves.

I don't (always) have faith in our government - our system of government, yes, but not necessarily the people who run it. But the one thing I've always believed in is The American People. We don't always get it right, we falter and stumble, but we invariably step up and try to fix our problems and do the right thing.
I'm a little too old for this kind of loss of innocence. :-(

Many of the leftist moon bats have replaced the virtues of faith, goodness and selfless action with an ideology of "hate the USA". Cindy Sheehan is the poster child for this type of behavior.
What a shame. Cindy's selfish, virtue driven mission was nothing more than a lost woman searching for some meaning in her life.
Her dismissal of a true understanding of selflessness (spirituality), caused by the death of her son, left her alone. Devoid of the universal principles of the spirit.
It led her to anger and hatred and all those feelings which arise from the "dark side".
I have one to many friends, co-workers and the like who are also angry and as a result can't find the strength to overcome loss and adversity.
Cindy needs to watch Star Wars again. And this time she has to root for Luke.

The EU right now is considering if to grant asylum for Iraqui Christians or not.
Curiously, Germany said that if the EU doesn't recieve them, Germany will take them single-handedly.If there were less traitors on our side, things would be quite a bit easier for us.
John Rosenthal argues that the German offer is a thinly disguised pension fund for Saddam loyalists, because it grants refugee status on a collective basis, rather than on the basis of individual scrutiny as for other immigrants. If Germany was ready to support Iraqi Christian refugees according to a single standard for applicants from all parts of the world, rather than building a labyrinth of special rights, things would be quite a bit easier.

Late note to Slumbering Behemoth.
I'm not Charles, never have been, never will be. Charles is much more restrained and more refined. I tend to fly off the handle, Charles does not. Charles is wise, someday I'd like to be as wise. I doubt that I will ever get there.

Wow. That's how the GOP made me feel this year: all alone. Conservatives can give time, money, and effort, as long as they leave their ideas behind. It's nice to see that conservatives aren't the only ones being left out in the cold by their party, I guess.
